Residence Inn Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile

Hands down the best hotel I've stayed at. They were so nice, accommodating the room was amazing, fridge and freezer, had dishes and silverware, and a mini cooktop and dishwasher. Breakfast was fantastic! Something different every day we were there (6 days) including fruit and hot items plus the view was beautiful. Very easy to get anywhere on transit, the 146 took us to shed aquarium, field museum and the planetarium, the 147 dropped you at millennium and grant park, the 151 took you up to lincoln park and the zoo. It was central to so much, the starbucks reserve roastery was right next door, marshalls in case you forgot or needed something, food: ginos east for pizza was a couple blocks away, eataly, shake shack, portillos and so much more. Pop mart (lebubus) and the harry potter store was right there. Navy pier is a short walk as well. I literally cant say enough good things about this place and how perfectly located it was. Our event is coming back again next year that we were there for and I will be booking here again for it!

This is a fantastic find just off the Mag Mile. It feels much more luxurious than you would expect from a Residence Inn by Marriott. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped with full kitchen. The breakfast is generous and offers many options. The staff is professional and courteous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will come back again when we are in Chicago.

We got a studio room which came with a kitchenette - amazing if you’re traveling and want to bring back leftovers. Great hotel, walking distance to a lot of attractions and places to eat, pretty quiet aside from some occasional street noises but nothing that would keep you awake or disrupt you.

This stay was 10x better than we were expecting. Everything was phenomenal. The room was so much more spacious and beautiful that the pictures did justice. The staff was always great. and you cannot beat the location! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I will always recommend to my friends and family. The ONLY thing I would want changed is better toilet paper haha. After 6 days you need something a little nicer than Scott professional. Truly though, this was an amazing stay.

Jade was FANTASTIC! we had minor issues with our rooms plumbing and blinds, but both issues were resolved within the time of our stay. breakfast is light, but effective! the staff was definitely the highlight. really spacious rooms. accommodating. will be returning again and again!

Amazing/Beautiful Location! We were there for our first time celebrating my husband’s birthday and we had a sweet experience from start to finish. Highlights: the room, very spacious, super comfortable, great views!! The complimentary breakfast- definitely great choices each day! We loved it! Excellent location, friendly staff, great buffet breakfast with 20th floor city views, clean and spacious rooms. We tried the on-site restaurant as a “last resort” due to cold, rainy weather and we were glad we did… food and service were very good. Only caution is related to the shower. Ours was a shower within a very deep tub that could have been a challenge for families with children or anyone with even slight mobility challenges. Ask for a room with a walk-in shower if this is a concern.

The decor in the room and elsewhere was just amazing for the value we paid for.

There is no self parking; valet parking is with limited services and takes 20-30 minutes for a car retrieval; valet parking is charged per calendar day, not nights of stay (if staying for 3 nights, the charge is for 4 days ($75x4=$300 as of 3/18/2026)!!!

Stayed for 5 nights during St.Paddys day weekend .. Breakfast was great . They change up breakfast meats and potatoes , it seemed like daily .. Location was great , never felt unsafe at all, and was close to everything you could want to be around the magnificent mile .. Highly recommend

My room was very nice, the hotel was great. My issue is my room had not been properly cleaned. There was hair in the shower which grossed me out, one closet had stuff on the floor, I have no idea what it was, and the other closet with the iron had underwear in it! That means no one checked or cleaned the closets. For the price, I expected better than this.

Wow! My 1st time at this hotel! I stay in Chicago often but I have never experienced a hotel like this. Everyone working there were happy. They always were friendly & would say good morning. Even getting on an elevator; the staff was sweet. The breakfast was delicious & so many options. The hotel was SO clean. I was not expecting what was in my room. There was a stove, a dishwasher, immaculate bathroom, the bed was so comfortable & they had buttons by the bed to make the blinds go down. I loved our room! I am 100% going to stay here again. The hotel they have on site is gorgeous. I was telling all my friends about this hotel. I was blown away. It was perfect. You don't get service like that these days. They gave 1000000% effort.

The hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful location, the longest walk we had was 20 minutes at most. The staff was all very friendly, room was modern clean and had a great view. Just wish pillows were a little firmer. Pleasantly surprised with the options available at the complimentary breakfast. We will most definitely choose to stay at this hotel again.

Good choice for Mag Mile hotel.

The bathroom fixture fallen apart, we had problem with the light panels ( did not working in the bathroom and bedroom ) Last Year we stayed here… everything was perfect. These Year you can tell they are NOT maintaining the hotel. It is so sad!

The bed and piollows were not the most comfortable. But the rest was fantastic.

We primarily stay at some version of a Marriott and of all those we’ve visited this was the nicest. Friendly staff, everything was clean and the breakfast was the best.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, great breakfast with a view, comfortable bed, relatively quiet considering being in the heart of the city and excellent rooftop bar/restaurant. Cons are there is one single hook to hand a bath towel (there were two of us), no place to set a suitcase other than a chair or on top of the desk, handheld shower wand is heavy (we are in our 80's), bathroom light panel was challenging (we are tech savvy).

Laundry, fitness area, restaurants were great.

We chose this hotel based on reviews and its past history as a Conrad Hilton property. Not disappointed! The location is excellent with proximity to Mag Mile. The bathroom with walk in shower, double sinks and separate water closet was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast in the beautiful dining area was delicious each morning with great views. There's the 101 Rooftop bar and grill with city views and amazing hospitality (thank you, Jose!). We will definitely stay here again on a future Chicago visit.

Does not honor military discount based on hotel needs ? May I suggest if you can’t honor military discount you should honor by offering some sort of other upgrade like late check out later then 1 hour , free lunch or drinks , or discounted price of next stay. Also rooftop barc was super busy , I was put in a corner without a working fire pit , no help , no support.. definitely as a solo traveler did not feel welcoming

This hotel was absolutely perfect!! The room was spacious with cooking facilities. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel was that included breakfast. It had a wide variety food which changed daily. It was perfectly situated in the City close to the train stations & bus stops.

Ill still give it 5 star rating even though they didnt clean our room when we requested. We stayed 5 nights and on the 3rd day we turn on the make up room before we left at 10:30am when we come back to the hotel at 4:30 our room wasnt clean. We brought our suitcase up and down 3 time and nobody offered help. 1st when arrive to the hotel at 2:30pm, the front desk said out room is not ready and told to come back at 3:30. I asked if we can leave our bag she said we have to bring it down to the main floor. Then the 3rd time is when we come back to get our bags from the conceirge and brought it to our room. Very minor issue. We are not picky and difficult customer. We still love this hotel and will come back to the same hotel. Love the location and breakfast.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Residence Inn Mag.Mile. Our room was fabulous. So roomy tons of space, 2 separate armoires for our clothes, comfortable beds, a huge bathroom with two separate sinks and tons of counter space. Modern lighting and electronic operated shades- basically a full kitchen- refrigerator, microwave, freezer, dishwasher, tons of dinnerware, glasses, cups. Customer service at front desk was great and friendly. Free breakfast was excellent with a ton of choices and a roomy area for food as well as tons of seating - only issue was our room was not cleaned even after asking the maid. She even turned on the green light to indicate it needed servicing. The next day it was finally cleaned late afternoon. But they did bring us up towels, washcloths, Kleenex and toilet paper since I called down for it. We had drinks and apps at rooftop bar. FAB gorgeous view. Also ate at the 101 restaurant. Food was great. Service slow. Overall a great value! Would def stay again!

We were pleasantly surprised at the property. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice with a good variety of food each morning. We were close to the bus lines which would take you to navy pier or the river walk. We were also close to shopping and a grocery. We would definitely stay there again.

There was LOUD construction going on every morning starting at 8 am. When I asked the front desk about moving away from the construction, I was told that it was not the hotels construction and to ask again later.

No complaints. We stayed on the 18th floor and never had a long wait for the elevator (like I have experienced in some other places). The kitchenette was well stocked, beds soft and comfortable and bathroom is spacious in which I absolutely love.

Very clean, beautiful view of the Magnificent Mile. We were on the 9th floor. Everything about the room was perfect. The bed was so comfortable, shower had great water pessure. The staff ( every single one) was pleasant, acknowledging, and professional. The breakfasts were amazing- check in lobby and breakfast is on the 20th floor. Amazing views, delicious, abundant breakfast buffet - best we've ever attended. We stayed 2 nights, and we will 100% stay here on our next visit too!!! There is a nice covered patio at the entrance that was enjoyable to sit at and watch the busy activities of Chicago. Oh!!!- there is a 21st floor roof top bar, the views were simply amazing, more stellar service... we had drinks roof top as well as the 1st floor restaurant/bar. Im not exaggerating about how much we enjoyed our stay. I hope all of the staff knows how awesome they are!!! Thank you!!! We had a the best 4th of July weekend ever staying with you!!!

Our favourite stay in Chicago yet! Great option for longer stays due to the kitchenettes in rooms and guest laundry. The breakfast buffet was switched up daily so there was no chance of getting bored, and the location of the hotel meant there were plenty of food options on our doorstep if we ever felt like eating out. Easy check in, helpful staff, and most importantly: working air conditioning in our room! Ultra important for those 34°C days. We’ll definitely be back.

When we arrived, the first room was dirty — there was a ball of hair by the entrance. We were moved to another room, but even that room was never cleaned properly during our stay. Despite multiple complaints to the front desk and promises to fix it, we returned one day to find the room untouched. The worst moment came late at night when we asked the front desk to send someone to make the room. When staff arrived, my father had begun making the beds himself as it was nearly midnight and he wanted to sleep. The front desk manager (Luke) entered the room and immediately started yelling at us, claiming we had created an unsafe space for staff — something completely untrue and unprovoked. No one asked us to step out or gave us instructions, just accusations and hostility. It was shocking and upsetting. Although management offered some compensation, the constant need to chase basic service and deal with such unprofessional behavior ruined what could have been a great stay. Cleanliness should never be optional, and yelling at guests is never acceptable. We will not be returning.

So the hotel staff was amazing very good especially Robert at the security desk on the main floor and all of the people at registration. But the bar/restaurant on the first floor. The bartenders were ghastly. They ignored me. I had to beg for one drink and they never came back to me to see if I wanted a second. I talked with the manager, Juan, who was also fabulous and gave him that feedback. They could’ve sold me twice or three times the amount of food and beverage that ended up buying if they would’ve just been more attentive.

The reviews are correct. This is a luxury hotel disguised as a Residence Inn. The only thing that isn’t really five stars is the breakfast, which is free and comes with a great view, so no complaints. It’s just a very straightforward buffet.

Better than I expected. Only disappointment was one of the restaurants was not opened but it wasn’t updated on the information. Other than that, my stay was nice.

This hotel had excellent reviews when I booked, and I can happily attest that they were accurate. The hotel occupies floors 8-20 of a high-rise in the Miracle Mile area; so the views are spectacular, and the rooms are nice and quiet. The breakfast was more than ample, with plenty of hot options (sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, etc.) and cold options (bagels and cream cheese, cereal, yogurt) daily, along with a rotating set of offerings including pastries, waffles, and even steamed broccoli and cauliflower one morning. Ground level restaurant has a solid menu with a beautiful atmosphere. Museums, convenience/grocery stores, classic Chicago style food (deep dish pizza and hot dogs), and mass transit are all within walking distance. Room had a nice kitchenette setup and was pristine; they do need bigger trash cans, but you can always just bring a plastic bag or two with you if you don't need service every day. Gym was better than many hotel gyms I've visited; only real thing missing was a foam roller, but weights and cardio equipment were solid. Luggage storage at front door for your bags makes it easy to enjoy your final day after checkout instead of missing out because you had to babysit your bags. Will absolutely stay again.

The location was perfect and the decor was very up to date and comfortable. The only drawback was related to the location and the noise from the ambulances heading to the hospital a few blocks away. Perhaps the other side of the building was quieter. But, the hotel itself was perfect!

Only thing I didnt like was the bed. Very uncomfortable other then that the food, the view, the people, the cleaniness, the convenience to everything was awesome. Would definitely stay again.

While the hotel itself was nice, the service throughout the stay was not. My debit card was authorized for the price of the stay as well as $500 for incidentals. I have worked for the Marriott company before and can honestly say that I have never seen such a high incidental charge. Throughout the stay, the front desk continued to try to charge my card anywhere from $100 to $280, every day. When I asked for clarification they said that it was for the incidentals to remain at $500 since my parking had been applied each night and was taken from my incidentals and they needed to keep a certain balance. Mind you, I was not told this beforehand and ended up having to eat hot dogs in my hotel room for most of my stay, as well as cancel most of the things we were supposed to do because they had charged me so much. My wife and I were there for a belated honeymoon, and ended up stressing about money the entire time we were there, which did not allow us to have the romantic trip we had hoped. Finally, we were trying to check out, and went to breakfast, when we went back to the room they had locked us out and insisted that I pay another $280 before they’d let me in to get my belongings. This situation lasted over an hour and caused immense stress, no one wants to be treated like a criminal or a low life, especially when I had already OVERPAID with $500 incidentals. This station quite frankly ruined our trip, and we will not be going back.
