Property is always perfectly maintained and great central location.

Staff seemed irritated whenever asked a question or simply by checking in. Called downstairs for cleaning staff to clean the room/change bed sheets/shower amenities while I was gone for almost the whole day and they never came until I called multiple times to see if they can come do what I asked

I was disappointed by both the condition of the room and the hotel’s handling of a billing issue. Upon arrival, I was required to provide a USD 250 deposit. I later checked the booking information but could not find any clear explanation that such a large deposit would be required. The amount itself was unexpectedly high and made for an unpleasant start to the stay. In addition, the room’s trash bin was already full of rubbish left by a previous guest when I checked in. I understand that mistakes can happen, so I chose not to complain about it at the time. What ultimately led me to leave this review was the hotel’s response after my stay. A charge of USD 13.37 was deducted from the deposit without any explanation. I contacted the hotel directly twice and also contacted them twice through Booking.com, requesting an explanation and a copy of the relevant charges. I received no response at all. The issue was eventually resolved only after I disputed the charge through my card provider, which refunded the amount. Even then, the hotel never explained the charge or responded to my enquiries. The amount involved was small. My concern is not the money itself, but the complete lack of transparency and communication. Taken together with the unexplained deposit deduction and the room not being properly checked before my arrival, the experience left me with the impression that guest concerns are not treated seriously once payment has been secured. I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.

No big deal, we called for more towels as we only had 3 for the 4 of us when we checked in. Monday, no housekeeping again. Called and had trash taken out and requested more toilet paper. Tuesday housekeeping finally came while we were out. Only beds were made and towels changed out. No trash service. On our last morning, housekeeping was knocking on our door at 9:15. They didn’t get in any rush except the day we were checking out haha. Also, housekeeping reported that we drank a bottle of water. There was never a bottle of water to drink ? I was charged for this, but when I called the front desk removed the charge.

The staff was very friendly, and we were able to check-in early. The location was great to attend a show at the CIBC theater. It was nice to have a large 2 room suite. We had a room that accommodated up to 5, but the sofa bed was very flat and uncomfortable. The other beds were better, but still uncomfortable for some. It was clean overall with plenty of towels and amenities. Overall, we would stay here again.

Always a quality stay. Staff is friendly, rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast has a good variety to offer and dining area is always comfortable and spacious. Convenient walk to train or downtown. We arrived early and thought we'd store bags with doorman, but our room was ready and they allowed us to check in early for no additional fee.

This hotel features spacious rooms in a great location, very walkable to local attractions like Millennium Park. What really stood out on this trip was the old-fashioned, high quality housekeeping and excellent, included breakfast. This will be my Chicago goto from now on.

The only tiny thing I could complain about was the beds being full-size instead of queen-size, but I knew that going in - it just would have been a better night’s sleep with that extra bed space!

Breakfast offerings got more and more sparse every day, empty or cold warming dishes, no butter, fruit, yogurt or apple juice today.

I have stayed at this hotel afew times and have always had a great breakfast. This time Saturday's breakfast was great, but we were down there by 8:00. On Sunday we slept in a little and didnt get down to breakfast till 9. There was a huge line out the door. They were out of cream cheese, fruit, and a few other things. Standing in line is fine, its just when you get to the hot foods they are almost all empty, so once your out of the line is when everything is replenished. Then they expect you to get back in line and do it all again, hoping by the time you get back up there everything isn't gone. When we were going back to our room there was atill a very long line to get to breakfast.

Location, breakfast, decor At the Roanoke restaurant on the evening of March 27, 2025 the bartender had to also act as hostess and waitress. She was very cordial, but completely swamped. I felt bad for her. If I hadn't gone up to the bar, I wouldn't have been able to order my Caesar salad or pay for it.

The dining room for breakfast was beautiful. I love the Murphy bed in the room. The value was exceptional. It was close to a parking garage so I could save on parking. I asked the front desk staff for sheets for the Murphy Bed, but they never arrived. And my daughter was a little sad that a sign at breakfast said french toast but there was no french toast. That's all!

I was very upset with the front office due to the fact that he could not find my information in the system then I had to wait I had to go through a whole lot of stuff to get my information mark confirmation for the room so that turned into a big mess which I wasn't happy with at All

My daughter and I stayed nearly a week in a one-bedroom suite. The room was very comfortable, though in an odd location where the only window was always shaded by other buildings and didn't let in a lot of natural light. Housekeeping was outstanding and the room was very clean. Front desk staff was ok. Not very friendly, but not unkind either. Just a little hands off. First floor staff were enthusiastic and very helpful. The daily breakfast was EXCELLENT! Best I've had. The spinach quiches were so good!! Great location in the loop with a quick walk to dining, shops and theatre. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked a suite so our room had a fridge, stove, and kitchen area, along with a small sitting area. We were able to check in an hour early, which was helpful and the desk attendant was nice. The rooms are a tad dated and could stand a renovation. The cushions to the couch, were actually from another couch all together, the fabric being two different colors and textures and very uncomfortable. This detail, doesn’t make the hotel exceptional. An exceptional hotel has a comfortable couch with matching cushions. The hotel was clean and all the employees were nice, making sure to always greeting us. But the room needed some TLC. Parking was $78 a night, but I feel like that’s average in Chicago. Breakfast was decent and included. Would I stay here again? No, probably not. It’s a solid 3 star hotel.

The hotel and the facilities are nice, the breakfast is exceptional, we loved the Roanoke restaurant, the room was comfortable and clean, but the mattress needs to be changed, it has two holes where we lie down.

Amazing hotel — all the service exceeded our expectations: friendly front desk staff, delicious and fresh breakfast every morning, and spacious, clean, and well-kept rooms. The hotel is very close to downtown; within a 15-minute walk you’re near just about everything, and there are also bus and metro stations very close by. We will definitely return without hesitation.

Temperature of the room can be easily controlled. Room service was good, although not at consistent times and varying in terms of thoroughness (sometimes a full clean, other times very minimal). Hotel lobby is wonderful. Location is fantastic. My only complaint is the entry of the hotel often has many smokers loitering outside. Consequently, you will have to deal with a lobby that stinks of cigarette smoke.

Overall, the stay was nice. However, I do think that it is important to highlight a few differences from a typical hotel stay. When I arrived an hour before check-in, the room wasn't ready. They did offer a room and stated that it was similar in size, but that was not the case. I requested my original room back but had to be put on a wait list and was able to check in, about an hour after check in. The valet is $75 a day and they told me I was only allowed 2 trips (enter and exit) a day. I didn't bother once I heard that and just used the parking garage around the corner (2-3 minute walk) for less than $25 (better to pay online). Also, valet do help with your luggage to your room as guest are not allowed carts for luggage (which I think is nice). Lastly, the security deposit is $250 a night, which surprised me because I never knew of a hotel that charged a deposit the same price as the room. Overall it was a great stay and accommodating to my needs.

We generally enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn. The staff were kind and helpful, the building was beautiful and neat, and there were ample amenities. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the room layout was unique (in a good way). The kitchen was a beautiful addition, and we felt very comfortable. We experienced no issues.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite for six nights, the suite was on the 26th floor, it was a different elevator for this floor, but we enjoyed the suite very much. It was very spacious super quiet, which for me is very important as I am a very light sleeper and did not hear any street noise for the whole stay, the hotel staff was very nice, breakfast was plentyful ,the area was close to everything but quieter than downtown. Rooms, bathroom and closets were very nice. Overall, everything was clean maybe just some of the laminate flooring needs updating as parts were peeling off a bit but nothing to bad

It was a hassle staying in the Bell Tower. There was a mistake with our room & there was no sofa bed as expected. It was late when we realized but they did give us a credit for our inconvenience. The breakfast was just okay.

This was our second stay at this particular location. We like the location and the walkability of the area. During our recent stay, we had a blunder with valet. Long story short, we drove off without the key and didn't notice until we were on the other side of the city, when it was time to restart the car. We called the hotel, and the valet came to our location with the keys. That was awesome. I thought we would have to catch an Uber to get the key and an Uber back to the car. So, nothing but high praises to the staff at the Residence Inn.

My husband and I love this place. It is off the path of a lot of traffic and is walkable to all of Chicago’s must see places. The rooms are clean, breakfast is an amazing and staff is helpful and friendly. Justin, at the check in desk, was able to accommodate our request for a room with a better view than what we originally were assigned. We were so grateful. The doormen, especially Laron, were helpful, friendly and gave us great recommendations for our visit to Chicago. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Our short stay at the residence inn by Marriott was nothing short of good. The staff, the accommodations, the room, the breakfast: were all good. Not far from anything, close to everything. You won’t be disappointed, book now.

I asked if there was a bellhop that could help me get the luggage to the room and they acted like it was a huge inconvenience to do that. I had to approach the Valet man standing inside and ASKED if they took valet because nobody was showing up to take my car. When I was leaving, I called down to request help with my luggage, and the man seemed incredibly annoyed that he had to help even though I’m a good tipper. I just am floored by the lack of customer service at such a beautiful hotel. The man who retrieved my car, every day was amazing. And housekeeping cut the room absolutely beautiful and smelling fresh.

The room was spacious enough to accommodate our whole family comfortably. The staff was friendly and very accommodating, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Special kudos to the lovely lady at the bar who prepared us a delicious latte— My only concern was the high cost of valet parking per night. A more budget-friendly option is to park in a nearby parking garage just a few streets away—or better yet, skip bringing a car altogether. Chicago is a fantastic city with great public transit, and there’s really no need to rent or drive.

Our group of 4 got split into 2 rooms because they were “full” and apparently when you book through third party you are not guaranteed your booking room choice. We were not charged extra at least. Also, the elevators were incredibly slow. It seemed like only 2 elevators were working for the 18 or so floors of rooms. Minor inconvenience. Would stay again.

The lounge area was perfect for large groups to be any time of the day. We had a group of 14.

The room is suite-style and it has a kitchen with multiple cookwares, although there are many resturants around and I doubt anyone will really cook during the stay. The room is not super spacious but larger enough for being comfortable. The wall is relatively soundproof, that the noise is mostly from outside rather than your neighbors. Due to the narrow street of Chicago you won't have much view from your window, but some rooms, including mine, can see the Willis Tower. The location of the hotel is great, as it's in the center of the downtown. I used to think Chicago is dangerous, but at least around the hotel, I did feel pretty safe even at the night. Free breakfast is offered, and despite being the continental breakfast that you can see anywhere else, the quality is good and there are some variation from day to day. Didn't use other facilities so cannot comment.

This hotel is a great value for the money in downtown Chicago. It is updated and very clean. Free breakfast was wonderful. Parking was confusing even with the directions from the front desk person. She tried to explain the best place to park with the best price, but she didn't give us accurate directions. We used the valet and paid the price, but it is Chicago and you should expect to pay a lot. After check out, they do keep your bags so you can go out and enjoy Chicago. This was a nice because our flight didn't leave until 7pm. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends!

I stayed here for my birthday staycation and enjoyed it very much! I also had three others come and book for my birthday weekend as well. The rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly. If I ever do a staycation again and choose downtown Chicago, I will absolutely stay here again.

Room was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. My daughter who has traveled extensively raved that the buffet breakfast was the best she’s ever had at a hotel. Bar in the evening was a great place to hang out with family .

Staff was very rude. Reserved a one bedroom suite. Got a regular room. Asked for something with a nice view. Got a view of a brick building. I travel and spend a lot on hotels. Often. And shouldn’t be treated like this.

Roanoke restaurant attached to hotel was perfect. The suite gave us extra room for our kids to come upstairs and visit. The parking was hard to find. Ended up self parking for $60 vs valet for $56 tips

The hotel itself and the room was very nice and super clean. The bed was comfy and the room was updated and trendy. Staff very friendly throughout. Location is very convenient to walk to the theatre district. The restaurant in the building, Roanoke, was delicious. We sat at the bar for happy hour and the drinks and bartender were top notch. Food was amazing and the servings were very generous. The only complaint we had if we had to have one..is that the breakfast items we had were no longer warm and the coffee was lukewarm. Other than that the hotel was very beautiful and well kept.

The Residence Inn, Chicago Downtown Loop - 5 stars all the way. 10 stars actually for their extemely helpful, cheerful, patient front desk staff, especially Jada. Just exceptional service 24/7. Breakfast was excellent every day, dining room staff friendly and efficient. The attached restaurant made our wedding party's dinner a wonderful and beautiful experience. Many thanks to Christine for coordinating the event and to Gregory, our fantastic waiter. The hotel is close to everything you need and we never heard any noise from the street or elevator or the rooms next to us. Rooms were very clean and well furnished.

It’s near the L trains and bus stops and it’s located near everything a 10-15 minute walk to all the tourist attractions

La habitación nos pareció muy buena, excepto por el sofá cama. Se sentían los alambres del matress. Tuvimos que improvisar una cama solo con los cojines del sofá y envolverlos en una sábana. La cocina aunque estaba muy bien equipada, el microondas necesitaba tiempo adicional al que usualmente estamos acostumbrados pues no calentaba mucho. El desayuno fue variado y muy bueno. El hotel tiene una ubicación muy céntrica para visitar lugares de interés caminando, pero en ocasiones es necesario otras alternativas como el uber.

The room was great, very spacious and nice. The hotel is in a great area very walkable and have dining, shopping and theaters very close. The only thing was the breakfast area was very messy, the breakfast have a lot of options and the as tasty but the area was messy.

Our room wasn't available at check-in, but besides that delay -- we loved our trip and experience! The rooms were spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and everything was beautifully decorated for Christmas!

Great property, quiet, upscale.

We had an amazing stay at the Residence Inn. Upon check in, we found out that we were treated to a room upgrade and got a beautiful suite. We had a truly incredible stay. We will never forget the time at this hotel. Thank you Residence Inn for making our time here so special.

Great location! Walkable to all the Christmas/Holiday festivities and easily accessible to trains and buses. It was only one block from the train we took from the airport. The room was clean, the elevators were quick, breakfast was good, and the staff was so nice. Will definitely book again for our next Chicago trip.

We were visiting for a family trip! The lady at the front desk I can’t remember her name but she was amazing. Omg we first checked in and was put on the 21st floor(I really didn’t like that too high for me) but soon as we got inside the room reeked of straight cigarettes and was even a odor fan but it was not even doing justice because it smelled like it was in the walls that’s how strong it was. I told the front desk she didn’t question anything she apologized and immediately put us in another upgraded room on a lower floor as my other family members. I was very thankful for that. Breakfast could use some work tho. It was plenty options but not your normal breakfast items. Overall the stay was a 9/10. Thanks again.

Great hotel! Just a few blocks off Michigan Ave but very conveniently located to restaurants, parking, public transportation, and shopping. The studio is spacious, nice for a long weekend in the city for a family of four. The included breakfast was outstanding and the dining environment was nicely updated. For sure will stay here again!

The rooms are spacious and have a nice kitchen. The furniture is comfortable and the linens very clean. Nicely updated bathroom and interior.

we had the best time. it had everything we could possibly have needed. we would love to return and when we visit chicago next, we will be staying with you again. i would recommend this hotel to friends.

The facilities were nice, the only comment I have is about the blowdryer that was filthy in our room. The location is perfect, could not be better and the staff is very nice. The other comment I have is about the breakfast which was frankly disappointing. There is way too many people for the dining area, people do not know the concept of queueing and it becomes chaotic very quickly and the selection of food is barely a selection since there are about four dishes and all of them are quite bad.

The hotel is beautiful & location is perfect for walking to the Chicago Theatre. We also walked to Millennium Park, just a few blocks. The breakfast is wonderful too, reminded us of a cruise meal!

Clean great location

The front desk girl was awful at check in. The lighting in the room is so horribly lit we could barely read anything. No fire in lobby any of the days we were there. Temps were frigid. It's holiday season and it would have been so nice to have some xmas movie channels. Some holiday music piped thru what walls would have been wondetful. Some small tweaks could have made our stay fabulous instead of om.

The room was great, had a small kitchenet and plenty of sleeping areas for the number of people we had. The only thing is that we could not figure out how to turn on the reading lights (or maybe they were not working) and the sofa bed had one side of the frame broken so it was uneven when we unfold it. I forgot to mentioned these items to the front desk thought. They gave us a discount for the parking which is around the corner.

The city experience is cool, but it's not near the Bean, museums, or river. It's in the financial district, though. There are some dining options, and the hotel restaurant, Roanoke, is really good. While hotel is old, the rooms look new and clean.

There was urine next to the building, and the outside could have been cleaner.

Very nice place to stay in the downtown area. It was a very convenient location near many of the main attractions. We enjoyed every moment at this property.

The staff were amazing. We flew in and got there way before check in. However the young lady allowed us to check in early and upgraded our room. Upon departure Steve Carter at the front desk was very courteous and wished us safe travels home. I will definitely recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I came to Chicago for a Bears game. This was a great place to stay. Clean, comfy, great location and the breakfast was great. Staff was also very friendly. Hope to be back next year for another game.

Unfortunately I did not receive the room I booked. The room description and photos do not match what was received and I was told were unavailable at time of check in. I booked this property specifically because it was a 1 bedroom suite with double beds. In general, the rooms are outdated and worn outside of the newly remodeled bathroom. Hotel staff at was friendly and courteous. The breakfast was the standout for our stay with amazing options and variety each morning.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in the Chicago Loop! The location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of everything, making it easy to explore the city. Our room was huge, offering plenty of space to relax and unwind. The breakfast was a highlight, with a great variety of options to start the day. Overall, excellent value for the price, and I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in Chicago!

We came in for one night because of a concert at the Metro. The room was so cozy. The shower was AMAZING! Wow! The woman that checked us in was super friendly, helpful, and kind. The lobby smelled amazing as well and was very welcoming. The bed was super comfortable as well as the bedding. Had a great experience!! Can’t wait to visit again!!

This is a beautiful hotel. We very much enjoyed the breakfast and the room was amazing.

The staff was present but not particularly welcoming. Breakfast was basic. The common areas are nice and relatively spacious but they need an update. The room was clean but small.

Generally, great place to stay. Gave 4/5 stars because the sheets don't fit the bed well and were constantly coming off the mattress and the shower leaked on to the floor. Otherwise very clean and staff were fantastic. The breakfast is also fantastic. Usually you get much less for a complimentary breakfast.
