Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about the small room size, lack of amenities such as a microwave, and issues with the air conditioning and heating systems.
- Great location

- Lack of amenities such as a microwave

Clean rooms. Quiet. Martini bar was very good. Our TV wouldn’t connect to anything, which we reported the next day since it was late. Overall, it was a very nice place and would stay again.
- 3/5
Tv wasn’t working properly and shower seal had a leak so water poured onto bathroom floor. Staff were really helpful and the free drinks at the martini bar were a great perk. Didnt like that there was not a microwave in my room to warm up leftovers. But being close to downtown and all amenities was nice.
- 4/5
Relatively affordable option for the location which is a short walk from a red line station giving easy access to the rest of Chicago. The lobby and rooms definitely look like they've seen better days, but they seemed clean to me. I didn't notice any obvious neglect and all my staff interactions were friendly and helpful. Overall solid choice if you're not banking on the decor and amenities being world class or something.

Close to Northwestern Hospital, parking garage across street and rooms were quite!

Fantastic location. Craig was super friendly and insightful, working in the hotel industry for 40 years is impressive. We had a fantastic stay and hotel met our expectations. No full size mirror in the room.
- 3/5
The bed was not comfortable at all.
- 4/5
2. No microwave (anywhere in the building) 3. Additional charges for amenities not used. 4. Staff is very friendly. (Specially Craig, baggage receiver)

I was expecting a hotel this old to at least be taken care of to be shown more presentable. The entryway was nice but the carpet on our floor was horribly stained and hallway poorly lit. Bathroom lighting was impossible to do any accurate make up / and the shower leaked uncontrollably into the bathroom floor. Online was described to be the largest martini bar: the menu carried about 15 options. Bartender was very kind but not the elegant bar as was described or paid for. I had issues with billing and was charged an additional $103 for a deposits after I initially paid $500; I have yet to hear back from the staff that I’ve called three times about. I will not be going back, and I feel my $1,200 stay was not worth the price.

I really liked my stay at the Knickerbocker hotel because the staff was so friendly, polite, and helpful!!! Also, the hotel was very fancy!!! I felt like a princess staying here! Breakfast was very delicious, the rooms were very clean, and my favorite part was the spinning doors!!! 😊😀☺️ Thank you so much for this amazing stay!!! I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re staying in Chicago or if Chicago is a stopping point, you will feel like like royalty!

I didn’t like that the shower faucet had to be reached after you got cold water because the showerhead is too far away

Location was great with a great connection to the buses and walking to the magnificent mile. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was decently priced after the 20% discount coupon for staying at the property Multiple backlit things in the room that needed covering for those that like a dark room when sleeping, otherwise the decor was a bit aged with several tattered lampshades in the hallway. Gym was okay with treadmills, ellipticals, and some free weights.

Excelente el servicio del restaurante anexo, especialmente el de Luis Alberto

Loved the jacuzzi bathtub and how spacious the jr suite was. Bed was cozy as well. Some Things in room seemed dingy...like around the vent area....carpet outside in hallway had worn spots. We brought food with us but No microwave to heat it up. Didnt even have one to use in lobby, which was frustrating. Not sure why we were charged 3.34 for a city tax after the fact when that all should have been included in the price when we booked. That seemed odd to me. I dont like hidden fees. And in the headboard, the upholstery had a gash in it. Didnt seem like anyone was interested in fixing that. Just tried to hide it with a pillow. ????

This hotel is in a great location. Our room was fine—everything was clean—but it was basic—no frills or extras. Just exactly what was needed, it was small but descent. More storage for clothing and towel hooks in the bathroom would have been helpful. We had requested an early check-in and agreed to pay a $40 fee. I received an email confirming my request. We arrived at 11 am, and the room was not ready. We were told to come back at 2:30 pm. Around two 2 pm, we were very tired and decided to check on our room. At 2:00 pm, our room was not ready. We sat in the lobby until almost 2:45, and our room was still not ready. While we waited in the lobby between 2 and 2:45, I saw about five families check in, and they were told their rooms were ready. I went to complain, and they found us a room. 3 pm is check-in time, so we did not check in early at all. I am not sure why when we requested an early check-in, which was confirmed, other guests had rooms ready while ours were not. My husband wrote to the general manager, but did not hear back. The staff was neither pleasant nor helpful.

The hotel has a nice historic feel, but some parts of the room could use an update. The carpet, drapes, and the fabric around the base of the bed felt old and worn. Not necessarily dirty, but they did make the room feel less fresh and clean than expected.
- 4/5
Overall, there were several things I really liked about the hotel. The location was perfect, the neighborhood felt safe, and it was very easy to get around by bus or the L. The common areas of the hotel looked nice, the bathroom was nice, the restaurant had good food, and the cleaning staff were very nice. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the hotel’s location is excellent — within walking distance to almost everything, which made getting around Chicago super convenient. At checkout, we overheard that we were supposed to receive 20% off breakfast. When they also checked my VIP status, we realized the associate who checked us in hadn’t applied either benefit or mentioned them to us. Aside from the poor customer service at the front desk, the hotel itself was perfectly fine. With better attention to guest service, this could have been a much better stay

Bonus: even though i booked 3 nights (because I was arriving on a red eye), I was charged only 2 nights of the $23 resort fee. Professional and efficient staff at check in, room was nicely appointed, clean, everything in good shape. Not a massive king bed room but had good space, sufficient hangers, coffee service, mini fridge, large bathroom. Hotel was very quiet, hotel bar is small but completely fine. Location is great for access to the Lake and to Michigan Ave. Only downside is it's farther from the subway for those who use public transit but can easily jump on a bus and get to the Grant Street station on the Blue Line.

It’s a bit outdated. I had some bug issues in my room so we had to be swapped. The restaurant is incredibly overpriced so do your best to avoid that. We had really loud groups in the hallways early in the morning. I alerted security and they didn’t do anything to solve it.
- 5/5
Friendly and kind staff members
- 5/5
Elegant, stately, a throwback to a different time. The best bargain in Chicago!
- 5/5
I loved how centrally located the hotel was. It’s only a few blocks from River North and one block away from Michigan Avenue so you have access to tons of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife options.
- 4/5
I searched for a hotel with free breakfast and free parking for my stay, and this hotel still showed up in my search results, so I decided to book it. However, I didn’t expect to find out that the parking space was too small for my truck to fit. Also, many guests may not feel comfortable parking there late at night, especially after midnight. It would be helpful if the hotel offered a discount for guests to park at the parking garage across the street.

- 5/5
The location is great, the room service and cleaning are so good as well May be it would be better If they use air freshener in the Rooms, but it’s not a necessity anyway.

It was very nice. The restaurant was closed due to renovations, which wasn’t conveyed to me. I expressly talked it up to my friend so was disappointed.

Great bar staff and selection! Adrian at the front desk was so pleasant to work with. Definitely would stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone coming to the city.

The hotel charge me 23.96 for Internet per day and didn't let me know before I booked..The heat didn't work and they came two times and I wasn't fixed the TV had no signal the whole 2 day stay...I paided a 200 deposit and only got 65.00 back.

- 5/5
They had paid breakfast, which was great considering the hotel was magnificent in that luxury from the half a century ago. It has that classic feel almost as if it competes with the drake
- 5/5
Love the complementary water and cocktail.
- 4/5
overall not bad, but the floor was dirty and sticky, we also found a dime (so probably it wasn't even cleaned properly before the check-in). the hotel looks nice overall and the location is amazing
- 4/5
Clean, soft bed
- 4/5
I liked the room, staff and amenities. Would definitely visit again
- 3.5/5
Just off the Magnificent Mile on Michigan. Prices were very reasonable and the room was comfortable and clean, though pretty small. No real complaints. It's quieter than being right on Michigan.
- 5/5
Good trip
- 4/5
They definitely don’t cheap out on in-room amenities—there was a fridge, a desk with a comfortable ergonomic chair, quality bathroom soap and shampoo, and even a fully functioning hair dryer. Valet parking is $75 per night, but it’s definitely worth it if you plan on going in and out of the hotel frequently. The staff was extremely friendly. My parents wanted a room on the same floor as us, but since none were available, the front desk representative upgraded them. That was a very kind gesture.
- 5/5

I felt that I was unfairly treated
- 4/5
They do charge you an extra fee of $23 per day for facilities and WiFi. Housekeeping comes by daily and yet they didn’t refill the lotion bottle once. They do make the bed and restock towels.
- 5/5
The hotel staff was very friendly. My room was small carpet was faded. My bed squeaked. My room flooded with water from the shower my first day. I mentioned it to the front desk and they just said that happens and sent me towels. So second day when I went down to check out after my daughter and I both showered the whole floor was insanely what I couldn’t wear my socks to get ready for the day and I had every towel on the floor. I could possibly Find I mentioned this at check out. The other lady was like oh wow why didn’t anybody go to your room try to fix it and I was like I have no idea. I said something to them yesterday. All at all I would say it was overpriced for what it is. It was clean. The downstairs was nice, but the rooms are a tad outdated and the beds need to be replaced so the showers need to be fixed.
- 4/5
We dined at the Nix. Was very good. Coffee machine was broken in room.
- 4/5
WiFi isn’t truly free—have to join their (free) club to access the internet. My email & contact information is on file already—I don’t want to join the club just to access the advertised free wifi. That should just be pretty standard in any hotel by now, right? Destination fee is a rip off & just a ploy to slap you with more (unexpected) fees whether you utilize their ‘spa & wellness’ facilities or not. Nothing of value for this so-called destination fee & its supposed Wellness Facilities. Slap a coded entry or similar on these facilities & only let in those who have paid your fee. Lesser hotel chains offer more for the cost. Super Friendly staff in hotel, restaurant & bar area except one snobbish front desk lady (plagued with caterpillars on her eyelashes, poor thing). Gorgeous building, great location & fun history of the building. Bed was comfy, bring your own pillows if you like large/fluffy ones. Housekeeping did an awesome job. Room felt very clean! Small closet was a little awkward to try to use so we skipped it. Shower/bathroom nicely appointed. Mini fridge worked so well our food was frozen. Couldn’t eat any of it because there’s no microwave. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom I could’ve used to thaw the food. Shoot. Wish I’d thought of that sooner! Room service not an option-they closed early each day. Overall not a terrible experience-certainly expected better all around. Love these old buildings/their history but amenities were lacking. Not likely to revisit.

- 4.5/5
We arrived late due to delays and even at after hours, the lovely lady gave us an excellent introduction to the hotel and Chicago. It was such a pleasant interaction after a long day of travel. The staff were excellent and very accommodating to our needs. There was nothing we didn't like.
- 5/5
Great place to stay at!
- 5/5
The Knickerbocker is by fire one of our favorite places to stay. Perfect location to everything. They have the cutest martini bar in the lobby with great people that work there, and I always meet a fun new friend.
- 5/5
Staff was awesome, room was clean. It is outdated, but that’s to be expected. Great price and central location to everything within walking distance.
- 4/5
I would say that the only negative would be that the pillows were very flat and we could not get the room to a comfortable temperature. We eventually shut the heating unit off all together.
- 3/5
Bar and restaurant are closed yet facility fees are charged daily
- 3/5
SO WHY WERE WE CHARGED A $25 DAILY FACILITY FEE?????
- 3/5
The room was great and nice price. Check in process was the worst with numerous steps required online. Charged a destination fee and many features of the hotel, bar and restaurant as well as fitness center were not available.
- 1/5
They charged me 5x the hold fee. We got housekeeping one time, and that was right before check out. The ac in the room barely worked
- 2/5
Room was extremely small, dated and worn. When I checked VIP perk wasn’t available, bar and restaurant closed. They did however, credit me the destination fee, which should’ve been automatic since I am a resident of the city.
- 3/5
The hallway leading up to the room had carpet that looked like it was flooded. Dark stains throughout the hallway. Room was slightly outdated with peeling wallpaper. Staff was courteous enough. Love the location and this is my second time at this hotel, I wish the room would have been in better condition.
- 3/5
The staff was great. Valet parking was a little confusing because I was told there was a number on their ticket for texting to get the vehicle but there was none. Also many areas of the hotel smelled badly of weed. It was coming in to the room from hallways and stairwells. The hotel could use some remodeling. We did not want a handicapped accessible room and got one. We took a shower and all the water ended up over the entire bathroom floor.
- 5/5

The location of the hotel Everything. The water in the shower was brown, the room was extremely small for damn near $500 , they charged a $200 fee and when I asked them about a refund they said don’t take cash

I almost never write reviews, but my experience at the *Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago* was so unbelievably bad that I feel genuinely obligated to warn others before they book. Let’s start with the basics: the hotel is **old, worn-out, and in desperate need of modernization**. Normally I can tolerate a dated design, but this stay went far beyond aesthetics. The real nightmare began when I discovered **a bed bug** in my room. I brought it directly to the front desk—*physically showed it to them*—and instead of concern or urgency, I got blank stares and apathetic attitudes. The staff seemed completely **disinterested, dismissive, and at times made me feel as if the situation was somehow my fault.** The lack of empathy or professionalism was astonishing. As if that wasn’t enough, the **walls are paper thin**, and I could hear every conversation, door slam, and late-night hallway wanderer as if they were standing in my room. Sleep was basically impossible, even before the bed bug situation guaranteed I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the mattress. And then came the shower fiasco. The **handheld shower head wasn’t attached correctly**, so when I turned on the water, it *shot off the wall like a fire hose*, soaking the bathroom floor, the walls, and even part of my clothes. It felt like the room was falling apart one element at a

Came back down and ask for my license and took it to the backroom leaving me waiting for another 45 min. Then i said hello, and gave me a nasty look telling me to wait. Lart tike ever.

The hotel breakfast was not geared towards the number of people staying for this RUGBY WEEKEND - so consequently service was slow - staff were polite but they were not expecting the number of people. Poor planning also the $50/hr extra for late check out never heard of this before - price gouging

Good customer service just need to update somethings in the hotels
- 3/5
Nice enough could use modernizing
- 4/5
Nice place in a great location. I would recommend this place.
- 3/5
Nice staff. Very basic room. Dated property. No amenities. Breakfast standard diner fare.

Beautiful lobby. Loved the cocktail era feel. Luxury bedding was so comfy. A great location.
- 5/5
Excellent choice for our 2 day trip to Chicago. Great location and price
- 5/5
The day bellhop had a terrific sense of humor. The evening Bellhop was extremely helpful in directing us to restaurants and local pubs that were patronized by local folks. The checkin/ checkout staff were business like not very welcoming but efficient.
- 3/5
Average hotel
- 4/5
Very good location, friendly staff and good breakfast
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
Great place. For people who love older hotels that have been updated. Charming and warm.
- 5/5
Great check-in. Safe. Very clean
- 5/5
Elevators were small. That’s all I can say bad .
- 4/5
Electronic check in is redundant unless you want to pay for early or late check in
- 3/5
The hotel was listed as a 4 star. I have stayed at many high end hotels and the one isn’t close. The carpet in the hallways were stained and old, the lights were dead, there was a weird smell, the room was clean but outdated, the sink did not drain.
- 4/5
The hotel gym, on the other hand, is small, cold and bereft of signs telling users to be mindful of others (like not playing your phone at full volume). The facility is open 24/7, but the nearest bathrooms may be locked.
- 5/5
Right next to Michigan ave it’s awesome!
- 5/5
Rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful and the bartender was amazing!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, spacious room, great staff.
- 1/5
Rude staff at yeh counter but good bellman
- 4/5
Exceptional emplacement, close to the shopping district and the beach. The hotel is beautiful and full of history but would need some TLC a bit like changing the carpets. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great.
- 4/5
Very happy with our stay! Staff and facility was great!
- 5/5
The room was spacious and comfortable. It was quiet and the staff were helpful
- 3/5
We liked everything about the hotel itself and the service was excellent. It would be good to have a more full-service restaurant available in house (beyond the Martini Bar) and it would be greatly appreciated to have a better parking arrangement. The schlep to the shared garage that turns out to be blocks away and hard to access was not fun -- even in good weather!
- 4/5
Dated but clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast at the in hotel restaurant was great!
- 5/5
We have stayed here several times and love the hotel and location.
- 5/5
For me, what I liked the most was the quiet and central.
- 5/5
5 stars
- 5/5
Clean hotel. Great location. Good service. The charge a destination fee of bout 30 a day ontop of room. Its for wifi and water so be sure to grab as many botels from them as you can. Nix wasnt very good tho.....frozen potatoes......
- 3/5
Hotel is rather outdated and dim. It’s like stepping back 20 years. Great location, good sized room, comfortable bed, but it needs an update. Carpet and wallpapers in the hallways show their age as well.
- 5/5
Great location. Interior was a bit tired. Could use a renovation
- 3/5
Overall stay was average. Room was dated. Staff were nice. Only complaint I have was room was not ready when my early check-in was approved.
- 3/5
The room was old of course and needed to be updated. The carpet looked dirty and very old. Needed to be ripped out and replaced. The towels were not very soft or plush. The sheets they used one of the night were stained. They forgot to refill the toilet paper and left it empty one night. They also didn’t refill the coffee one night. We were there for a total of 5 nights at at average of $280 a night. This hotel was not worth $280 a night. More like $150 for the issues I mentioned above.
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
The hotel was a great choice for us. It was close to the river, pier and fun dining opportunities. The bed, lavatory and room were very comfortable at a reasonable cost.
- 3/5
The front dest staff was not friendly and inviting. We arrived early around 1:30 PM. we asked if we could check-in. The young lady said no without giving an explanation. My husband ask if we could leave our bag. Craig was very helpful and nice he accommodate us and took care of any questions we had. Craig was very nice took care of our bags and suggested places we could go befor our check in. The room was small, TV was old the cabinets were the frig was was wobbly and there was a whole at the bottom of the cabinet. I expected more from such a historical hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
The staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Very nice, it walking distance from everything we wanted to do!
- 5/5
Great hotel, perfectly located.
- 5/5
Must stay
- 3/5
The hotel appears to be well past ite prime. The carpet in my room was stained. I was expecting one school elegance - not at all mer
- 4/5
It was very enjoyable and convenient to everything. Just can’t understand the extra charge of $23.00 a day for water, use of the gym. Never used the gym and could have bought my own water for a lot less.
- 5/5
Perfect get away.
- 5/5
Great Views and Area
- 4/5
I loved the building, ambiance, bar, location and cable. The bed was too soft and air conditioning not consistent.
- 3/5
In the end, the pre-check-in didn’t save any time and felt unnecessary. The hotel itself was fine, but they might want to refine their check-in process so guests don’t have to do the same steps twice.
- 4/5
Great property. Lots of great shopping and dining very close. Staff was friendly. Valet parking was expensive but worth it for the convenience
- 3/5
They had an access fee which was supposedly posted on the Hotel.com website ….must had been in the fine print. My room was adjacent to the elevator. Very noise tall night long.
- 3/5
Love the old school vibe of this hotel. Well kept, clean property. Comfy bed. Downfall for us is no coffee in room and no room service.
- 5/5
The staff were great, very helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent location, clean and save hotel.
- 5/5
This hotel is perfect! So well located, easy walk to all the main sights. And it’s beautiful, the art deco entrance is worth a photo or two as is the ballroom. And the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Loved it.
- 1/5
It is a very old hotel, so that is a given. Lobby is beautiful . Room was tiny, looked over backs of old buildings, and the worst part was the smell in the room. It says non smoking, but my room smelled like cigarette smoke. The window only opened about 2 inches, but that saved me… we had a concert to go to, or I would have tried to move. I will not return .
- 2/5
Room was a frigid 65 degrees at check in & smelled musty. Carpet was wet between tv & bed area. Would likely not stay here again.
- 5/5
It was a cool and historic hotel with a nice martini bar and a nice restaurant to eat breakfast at. The room was updated and comfortable with a nice big walk in shower. It is close to Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile and a convenient location to walk to other attractions and places of interest. I would definitely stay there again.
- 2/5
Very outdated hotel with smelly carpets and old furniture. Beds are not comfortable, flat pillows( just one for each). We did not get room service. Front desk staff very indifferent. It is not a 4 star hotel. Location is great.
- 4/5
Houskeeping staff was very nice and accomodating
- 5/5

- 3/5
Almost had to pay for plastic silverware as a paying guest
- 5/5
Every one is nice and helpful
- 5/5
We loved it. Cool hotel with jazzy ambiance. Great staff. Super martinis. We’ll be back!
- 5/5
:) was super cool
- 5/5
Good place to stay
- 5/5
Nice and quiet. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast at Nix was very good. Martinis on the weekend we're fantastic. Convenient location, 1/2 mile walk to get on the "L". I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
This was a great hotel right next to Hancock so easily walkable for the entire loop (we're walkers). Normally i would give 5 stars whenever a property doesn't leave anything out, but there are some updates that could be made. Our bed seemed lopsided, like the mattress was collapsed but it seemed newer. The inner shower curtain was "dangerously" short and was close to letting water pour onto the floor. I'd prefer sliding doors instead of shower curtains. The tv was fairly old and needed a signal booster for the remote, which had been knocked loose by housekeeping and had to be relocated. Everything was rectified by the amazing staff. We would stay here again based on the location and the ease of check-in and check-out.
- 5/5
Will reccomend
- 1/5
The carpets were stained in the rooms, as well as in the hallways the decoration in the bedroom consisted of a bed with a TV on the wall, no decorative pictures or photographs on the wall
- 5/5
Loved everything about it
- 5/5
This older hotel has been updated to be a modern styling place. Located in a hard core commercial and corporate space, the location is top notch.
- 5/5
Very historic hotel that had a lot of amenities. Parking options could have been a little more clear.
- 5/5
괜찮았음.
- 5/5
Remarkable Service,Cleaned to perfection, to me it was 10/10
- 4/5
Great place! Felt safe! Used their valet parking very convenient. It’s an older building so it has lots of charm! Sometimes the elevators are slow or packed full of people and there are 3 of them. But that’s the only con. I brought my daughter. I liked that you had to have a key card to use the elevator! Rooms come with a fridge. We got a smaller room, since we were only there for one night and it was perfect thanks again!
- 2/5
Honestly pretty bad hotel for the price it was in a convenient location. I guess you get what you paid for. Wouldn’t stay here again.
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful, with a nice clean and comfortable room. My only real complaint was we asked the night desk lady for more coffee for our room twice, and never received it either time.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. The shower door leaks, and the pipes are a bit loud in the morning. I realize it is an old building and over all we loved our experience!!
- 4/5
Great historical hotel, with a friendly staff. Room was clean, but the carpet was stained and the beds were worn and very uncomfortable.
- 5/5
We’ve been here before and this place is excellent. We will continue to use this hotel on our trips to Chicago
- 5/5
My stay was pleasant and comfortable. The room was clean and well equipped.
- 4/5
I’m upset that I didn’t get a picture of the place because I really liked the lobby. However, there a few staff members that aren’t hospitable and some that are. The cleaning staff were very friendly. I also don’t understand why there’s a restaurant, but no room service(you’re missing out on money). This hotel also takes longer than usual to give you back your deposit- soon I will have to call to check on that.
- 5/5
Great place to stay by lots of shops and an easy walk to the trains. Highly recommend the valet parking as parking downtown can be crazy. Very clean.
- 5/5
The staff was pleasant and helpful, the location was convenient, the room was very nice and it is located in a very walkable area. Try walking two blocks for breakfast at Wildberry Pancakes. They have everything and it is all great.
- 3/5
Flight cancelled, ask for refund but refused, also the hotel kind of old
- 2/5
The hallways smelled moldy and the room smelled moldy and like cigarette smoke.
- 3/5
We weren’t offered the VIP offer and we forgot to ask about it.
- 5/5
Loved the bar and was thrilled with great music from the American songbook. Wonderful.
- 3/5
The hotel has a great location and that's the only reason to use it. The place is tired and old. The staff are great and try to do the best they can but for example, the paint is peeling in the lobby ceiling, my room had torn carpeting between the beds. It's tired and old and time to be renovated.
- 4/5
Property is great but they do not have self parking option. It’s either expensive valet or the creepy doorman who offer cash to park in the “private lots along the yellow line”
- 5/5
Rooms and elevators are small but clean and friendly staff
- 3/5
Overall the location was great however they do charge a daily fee of $24 and some change which I was not aware of prior to booking. Also the carpet in the hallways look dirty and everything just look outdated, our TV in our bedroom randomly was turning on and off and the air conditioning also was horrible turning on every five minutes. They gave us two pillows for each bed normally at other hotels I’ve stayed at you get a few extra I had to call the service desk to have them bring us up some extra pillows!
- 5/5
However, The shower needs work. I would stay again.
- 4/5
Easy valet parking and convenient location to Magnificent Mile Shopping.
- 5/5
Amazing very European
- 5/5
Nice stay
- 2/5
This place nickel and dimes you. I paid close to $300 in added, hidden fees. They only have valet parking, which costs $79/day and the valets are so slow. It took them over 45 minutes to get my vehocle and 5am when i was the only person requesting a vehicle. The overnight front counter lady who looks like Lori Lightfoot is useless. Hotel is old, expensive and littered with hidden fees and useless employees.
- 5/5
Great service from check-in staff. He was friendly and professional. Great upgrade room !’nn
- 2/5
Was excited to stay here as I remember being here as a kid. This hotel is in desperate need of renovations. Ceiling in the lobby is peeling. Carpet in the rooms is warn and tattered. Bathroom fan doesn’t work so the steam doesn’t get out. Pillows were very thin and mattress was starting to feel warnout. Overall service was fine. Didn’t really interact much. This hotel has a long history in Chicago. It’s a shame they are letting it go.
- 5/5
The bed is so comfortable and we had a great rests!
- 4/5
Did not eat at the hotel restaurant, yet the food options were available of all kind downtown. Bed was comfortable in getting a good night sleep after a day of walking!
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The bed was ok. The shower was great. Nice walk to a lovely beach. Shopping was extensive with a lot of high end stores. Internet access was good. Only complaint was tv app connections didn’t load. Very safe and clean area with Millennium Park and other museums and river tours just a mile walk away.
- 3/5
Interior old and dated
- 5/5
Comfortable bed

We stayed 4 nights at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel, hoping to treat our son after a tough summer. Sadly, the experience didn’t match the price. From the start, service was poor. Staff on the phone and at check-in were cold and dismissive. We had a rollaway bed confirmed through Expedia and via email, but it never came. When we followed up, we were told it wasn’t available and then rudely told it wouldn’t fit. No apology, no help. The room was dated but clean. Shower leaked, bathroom fan didn’t work (we were first told it would be fixed, then told fans were disabled in all rooms), and Wi-Fi was unusable. No room service either. The doorman was the only consistently kind staff member. The bartender was friendly too, and the bar food was good but cash only and it was only around 7pm was strange and inconvenient. Overall, the front desk staff clearly didn’t care. I believe this attitude reflects poor management or ownership. We love Chicago, but we will never stay here again.
- 2/5
The rooms were old and there was a damp moldy smell. It looked like there was water damage in the room by the baseboard. The staff was helpful and decent with us, but most of the interaction was when we were trying to get a different room. On the upside, the cleaning person for our room was very pleasant and did a great job.
- 1/5
Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Internet not working, did nothing to fix it.
- 4/5
The area is amazing but the hidden fees took me out. The daily destination fee should have been explained
- 3/5
Staff was not very welcoming. For some reason I was given a handicap room directly next to the elevator for booking third party. I realized I didn't get the possible room upgrade or my free drink coupons for being VIP, I went downstairs to ask and got snipped for asking about the upgrade and they didn't want to give me the two drink coupons because it only showed one person on the reservation when obviously there were two of us. The next morning I needed change for a $20 to tip the valet. I went to the front desk and was told they were cashless but to ask at the hotel restaurant. I went there and the manager told me she didn't have time to get me change because she was too busy with her paperwork. Luckily the nice bellhop gave me change from his own wallet. For being an iconic hotel for chicago, the service subpar and unwelcoming.

Really enjoyed our stay

Located in a great spot!
