Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at this hotel, appreciating the clean rooms, comfortable beds, and helpful staff. However, there are some recurring issues with parking, restaurant availability, and the cleanliness of certain amenities like the pool and shower heads.
- Clean rooms and comfortable beds
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Parking issues and high fees
- Limited restaurant options and hours

Nice beds and bathrooms, very clean.
- 4/5
Perfectly serviceable convention hotel, efficient and tidy service. No surprises and 4star max but just fine, given convenience to meeting halls
- 5/5
Very convenience when you are working or visiting the convention center!
- 5/5
This was probably the best stay for a hotel! Convenient restaurants and even a Starbucks in house. Everything seemed to be pretty efficient:)
- 5/5
I really enjoyed the location of this hotel. We were In walking distance of all activities we wanted to o or even close enough to bus stop and the L train. Very helpful staff and everything was clean. 10/10 would stay again.
- 5/5
Loved the location and how close it was to everything
- 3/5
High price with not much to offer. Room was large and bed was reasonably comfortable, but there was one chair in the room and a VERY narrow desk. Many of the buttons on the TV remote did not work and the television options were very poor. There just isn't anything special about the room that would justify a 450 per night price tag.

Nice hotel..... convenient location. RUDE front desk staff that seemed irritated when asked about literally ANYTHING! The girl who checked us in was nice but after that it went downhill fast. Bell desk staff was great on the way out which helped us exit without being completely frustrates. Paying almost $20 to waste my time and struggle with their computer & printer (I'm typically very tech savy so idk what the issue with their business center was) while wasting an hour of my life at 5 am on one of the most important days of my daughter's life was pretty disappointing ....... also didn't love paying $17 for a wilted salad that had probably been on the shelf of their market for 4+ days and having them not even include the deserts I ordered paid and tipped on was disappointing, especially since we had such a packed schedule there was no time to call and complain as we were eating on the run. I would return ONLY if there were no other hotels left in downtown Chicago. This definitely would be my last choice.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay. Close to transit and easy to get to the major sites of Chicago. Worth paying extra for a city view room!
- 4/5
Hyatt McCormick Pl is a nice full service hotel that connects to MCCormick place. There are not a lot of walkable sightseeing places to see except China town close to a mile away. You will need to use public transportation or drive to see the Magnificent mile for example. The green and red line train are about a half mile away. Overall a good comfortable stay!

Attentive staff, newly renovated rooms, plenty of amenities and great location. It's on my list of Chicago hotels to return to.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and had a modern attractive design
- 4/5
Clean room and we were upgraded to a high floor. Check in staff great. Room was very clean but it smelled like the floor had just been put in that day. Bar was good but we were disappointed the Ramen restaurant was closed. I wish there was parking for vehicles over 9’ high. We had to walk a mile to a semi-truck trailer lot to park our Sprinter Van for the night.
- 4.5/5
Room very well appointed, with all amenities necessary. Liked the big light around the mirror in the bathroom. The gym was awesome, so nice to have access to so many machines and weights and the cold towels were a great touch. Also really nice to have covered parking that wasn't valet. Bar was great, too! Shoutout to the bartender Darryl who was working when we went for a drink our first night. The sheets had some flakes of something on the edges when pulled out from being tucked in. Seems like maybe the mattress bottom is flaking off. Eek. If we'd been there longer I would have wished there was a pool! Also would have loved to have ceramic mugs for the coffee.

Good location. Pleasant staff Room had terrible odour. I think either a new rug or cleaned rug... But the fumes were awful. And the hotel really gouges on food/beverahe. $80 for breakfast for two including ...not much. And $60 for two glasses of wine. We made mistake of not asking price before we ordered the wine. I'm still in shock. 1 glass cost twice as much as a full bottle at a liquor store. I understand marking up at a bar. But that much!!!?
- 5/5
Great property and great area very quiet at night, busier in the day but still peaceful. Further walk to downtown, but good neighborhoods to walk through to get there. My walk back once was at night and I felt safe the whole way back. Room was well kept and clean. Floors were key card access only so you didn’t have to worry about non guest just walking into the hallways whenever.
- 3/5
They have lot of hidden charges. A very high incidental.
- 5/5
Everyone and everything was fantastic! Food at the Arc was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Great location and safe. The parking is very nice
- 5/5
Great hotel, close to restaurants and walking distance to Soldier Field. Staff was great and parking was easy.
- 5/5
This hotel was overall excellent. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the food at the marketplace was good but overpriced like most hotel food usually is. It's proximity to grant park and soldier field was great. The room had a decent view and was very clean and welcoming. The pillows left much to be desired but other than that, it was a great stay. I would warn to not go during the evenings as it is close to high crime area, but during the day, you're fine.
- 5/5
Everything was nice, just expect to pay for what you order or get from the market, otherwise a great stay!
- 5/5
Good stuff all around. Will plan to stay here any time I’m in Chicago.

Two rooms. One had a terrible odor, the staffed claimed it was from the new furnishing. My sister's room did not have this problem. Three rooms later. we were given a suite. An old suite. Carpet was worn; furniture was old. Toilet paper in the lobby was better than our room. The phone in our room did not work. The thermostat did not work properly.

The property and rooms were very clean and well stocked. Really enjoyed the room and the view. Breakfast was great. The location is in a good area.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Check in and parking was easy. We were in room 2113, it was next to the elevators. We loved the location but it was noisy. The floor in the room was slanted. Can’t say I have ever experienced this before. We thought we were crazy but put a can of hairspray on the floor and it proved us right quickly rolling to the lower side. Beds were comfortable but also on a slant. My daughter slept with her head and the foot of the bed because of it. The shower was nice. There was stuff left in our refrigerator from a previous guest as well as hair on the bathroom counter. Th ere are 3 restaurants in the hotel but nothing is open for lunch. Was kind of disappointing. The Arc bar was very kind and did a great job helping with our food allergies. Above and beyond. Overall a great location and nice stay.

Parking was the only bad thing here. They should prioritize people that stay here and pay other than people that are not staying at the hotel

I stayed in Presidential suite, the size of the room was exceptional, actually there were 2 rooms connected together, large king size bedroom and huge living room with 2 sofas, big table, 2 smaller tables, kitchen area, 1.5 bathroom, very comfortable, a lot of space and beautiful view. I think this is one of the largest rooms in the Chicago area. I only had breakfast in the hotel, and a la carte and buffet both were delicious, there is also market place where you can grab sandwiches, salads, yogurt, drinks and snacks. Very friendly staff. Honestly there was really nothing that I could say I didn't like.

- 4/5
Place was nice as always. We always go for a convention. Room was newly renovated. Trhe bathroom light wouldnt stay on though. It was on a timer and if you were in the shower it would just click off and youd be lift in darkness. Staff was okay for the most part besides the bell hop. Husband tried to get a trolley for our stuff, found an empty one and we grabbed it and the staff was extremely rude. Told my husband he couldnt just grab things and to put it back and said he "needed to go talk to that guy if he wanted help." My husband asked where and he pointed outside, which confused us. It was busy so the man walked away. To uncomfortable to possible bother someone and get yelled at again in a busy hotel, we just made 2 trips from our car to the hotel room. Definitely didnt need to be as rude as he was and most certainly saw that we were confused and uncomfortable, he didnt stick around to explain. We stayed away from stagg after that for the trip.

Paid for onsite in advance lot was full when I got there was told to park across the street in lot A. Had to argue with parking staff to be allowed in at that lot. After check in I was given keys to an already occupied room. I was given a QR code for parking after some confusion at the front desk and was told I could bring my truck back to the hotel later when I broght my truck to the hotel later in the evening I was told the lot was closed but I could drive around the cones and see for myself that the lot was full. I found parking once inside the garage. The staff did offer a $25 room credit as compensation.

The room was nice. For some odd reason when my girlfriend went back to the room to take a nap there was a baby bed added to our room. That was not requested by us. I called the front desk to remove it, no one came until I called them 4 hours later. They then sent someone to get it.

Main thing was when I made the reservation I ask if McCormick place still had the free bus to Game. I was told yes then I ask how far is it from hotel, I was told right there. When we checked in I ask how to get to the free bus to game. No one knew. When we were ready to leave I ask Valet. He said I think you go to the light and turn left. It will be Lot E. It was Lot F and no bus to be found,It is freezing cold and snowing. We walked back and got a cab that cost $20 not bad. When we tried to get a cab back they wanted $120. We refused and started walking. My husband had had knee surgery a month before. We probably walked half way and my husband said I can’t walk any further. Van cost $50. My husbands knee swelled up twice the size. Then we get back to Hotel and nothing at the hotel is open. So I picked this hotel because of the bus transportation close and we ended up walking and paying for two cabs. Maybe buses don’t run at night games?

Was not happy about having to pay $40 a night to park my vehicle in the parking garage that was attached to the hotel! Would've been nice to know this before we arrived.. Also our room key was supposed to get us in & out of the garage but it didn't work, then the proceeded to tell me that I was not listed in their computer system. They had to contact the front desk to make sure that we were guest there. We won't be staying here again. Overly priced especially for parking!

IF I COULD GIVE A HALF A STAR I WOULD!. First of all I paid for a room with a lake and/or a city view and what i got was a window that showed mothing but steam from the giant air conditioning units that were literally 10 feet from the window. As well as the ridiculously awful view there was mold on the ceiling of the shower, and on top of all of that the condensation of the ac units outside made the window in the room start to leak water on the inside of the room. LITERALLY POOLS OF WATER ON THE WINDOW SEAL AND THERE WAS A ELECTRICAL OUTLET RIGHT BELOW IT! ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT WHEN I ADDRESSED IT TO THE FRONT DESK THEY SIMPLY SAID OK WE WILL CONTACT MAINTENANCE AND TOLD ME TO HAVE A NICE DAY! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! IVE SEEN RED ROOF INNS THAT ARE BETTER THAN THIS SMH!

On top of that, I was charged $29 three times for breakfast without ever being informed. I only found out because I checked my bank account. This lack of communication and unexpected charges were very disappointing.
- 1/5
Overpriced, outdated hotel not even in the heart of downtown. Charged $17 extra for a “city/fireworks view” and all we saw was smoke. Charged extra for my child’s breakfast even though the reservation was for 2 adults and 1 child. Ordered takeout and was hit with a $40 gratuity—unacceptable. Parking was a mess: given a key card to come and go, then told at checkout my room wasn’t even listed. Staff was disorganized, and we were watched and overcharged constantly, which felt discriminatory. This property gives Hyatt a bad name. I will never stay here—or any Hyatt—again.

Huge convention center associated hotel. Very nice clean and modern rooms. Lakeside views from the convention are amazing (watch it at Sunrise). Only con is that it's kind of isolated dining wise and from more hip or active parts of the city. taxis/rideshares making a killing over here.

Nice. Not good food options.
- 1/5
Parked in the parking garage at first and had to bring our bags a long distance. Refused to allow me to have a luggage cart to allow me to bring everything in one go. Took some persuasion to get one. Had to use two different sets of elevators to get back and forth between the room and parking garage. The parking garage is not labeled on the elevators so good luck getting back there.

The breakfast is a waste of money. All the restaurants on site have terrible service.

Big busy hotel. Well appointed. Conveniently located to downtown. Front desk could be a little more informative about reimbursement fee holds. My stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago was fantastic! It was a super clean and nice hotel, the room was spacious (2 Qn Bd) and the hotel was accommodating to all, with 2 bars & a restaurant and connivence store on the bottom floor. Highly recommend & will be staying again.

Great stay! Chose this property due to its location to the Winston arena and a concert we were attending there. There are sky bridges connecting the hotel with the arena. Nice large bar area, market, restaurant all located at the hotel. Staff were friendly and professional. Lobby has lots of seating and pods that can be rented for meetings/work. 15 minutes walk to subway.

They overbook rooms. Which is odd considering my other friends booked a week later than we did for the same dates at the same hotel. They got their room no problem. We were told they overbooked. And they put us in a “parlor room” with no beds. It was essentially a corporate meeting room. They had to roll in 2 beds for me and my friend to sleep on. Mind you these beds were uncomfortable and small. My feet hung off the end while I slept. Then we had to wait around till 11am the next morning so we can switch room to the correct room. So while my other friends were out exploring the town, me and my friend in the parlor room stuck waiting for the correct room. They “gave us a credit of $100” to use for snack and food and such. What good that was considering we were not there to sit and snack around a hotel room. We were there for a concert. We probably used 1 water bottle out of that $100. $890 for two nights. And this is how we are greeted on night one. The most expensive room I’ve ever paid for and I had to sleep next to a conference room table. The correct thing to do would have been to refund us minimum 1 nights stay. What’s the point of booking in advance if they are going to overbook rooms anyway and screw over the consumer regardless. Overbooking should be illegal, and they should have addressed the issue the second they overbooked. Not once we arrived and just said “here is the best we can do…..sorry” always hated Chicago, this didn’t help the cities case.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, good location. We were there for a concert. Eveything about the hotel was great, only complaint i had is that you are automatically charged a “perks” fee for things we would never use, like an hour on the scooters, that doesnt benfit everyone. Aside from that, no complaints!

This property released my rooms without notifying me after I payed for the rooms. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 5/5
I left for my flight.
- 5/5
Directions on how to get there/park so u can get registered. Hotel needs a flyer with near by food options and their hours. Other than that the place was professional, courteous, spotless, and the bed and pillows were so nice we r going buy some for home

Very clean and friendly hotel! Stayed 2 days for a concert at soldier field and it was perfect as it was walking distance
- 5/5
Very friendly and accommodating staff
- 3/5
Hotel was nice and clean. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Good location and has parking. Great staff! Only thing I wish the rooms had was a coffee maker.
- 5/5
Perfect walking distance to soldier field (which is why we picked it). Safe walk about 20ish mins. Room was very nice, bathroom exquisite! I would 100% stay here again for a concert at that venue

Amazing views and polite staff. 💯
- 3/5
Excellent service and staff, but awful business model and uncomfortable beds. Everything is an upsell; breakfast, parking, even the bottled water in the room. They even tried to get permission to add a parking fee to my card after i checked out, from the parking exit kiosk.

Excellent stay!

Hotel was very nice, clean and located perfectly for our stay.

I went to drop my things off before my check-in time and Tony went ahead and let me check in early. He was very kind and we had a great conversation while he helped me. His service was awesome and hope everyone has a chance to speak with him when they arrive.

Very nice property although a little expensive

PERFECT THANKS
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay. It was quiet and clean.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was so knowledgeable and polite

This extra charge was not disclosed to me by Expedia nor the hotel upon booking, or the charge was hidden in the fine print that you cannot find. I've booked hundreds of hotels on Expedia and this is the first time I've encountered this hidden "surprise." I am very disappointed in both Expedia and the hotel.

Wonderful view, clean and comfortable. The Market-to go was a bit pricey for what was received, and I had to make a phone call from the hotel and it was $$$. I highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Not a lot of places to eat at night
- 5/5
Very good
- 5/5
Good for family stay. Safe place and walkable to nearby lakeshore.

Stay was great

The staff was amazing! They assisted me with any need I had during my business trip!

I loved the location

I love it here

The hotel was as expected. Great. We were erroneously charged for parking, however upon placing a call, immediately refunded back to credit card. Great stay overall.
- 5/5
The hotel was great and the saff (especially Tony) were amazing.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was amazing
- 4/5
Nicely maintained but not quite in the heart of downtown, some walking needed to get to the rest of the city.
- 5/5
Tony the gentleman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. He made the stay much easier.
- 5/5
Great staff. Would stay here again.

My husband has aggressive brain cancer. We had two oncology appointments at UofC today. I spent a lot on this room so we would be close for our morning appointments. There was no restaurant room service as we expected. Ordered from Market twice (only option) and i had to go myself both times to retrieve missing items. Water pressure was terrible and no ventilation for shower steam. No amenities. We just paid so much because who knows how much time we have and we could NOT miss these appointments. I thought we would have a wonderful room based on the information here and ot being over 600 foe obe night. The staff i interacted with were rude. Everyone so unhappy at the check in/out. So very disappointed and let down.

We picked this hotel because it was close to the convention center. However, they had limited choices for breakfast/coffee and for dinners. There wasn’t a ‘convenience’ section to their market and not much walkable. The hotel was clean and the room was taken care of every day. It just felt like a lot of work to get meals and basics.

Amazing

This was a fantastic place to stay and will definitely be making this the hotel of choice every time I am in Chicago. Walked to Soldiers Field for an event. Given directions and a small map by staff on how to get there. Options of places to go that are nearby to eat or look around. Room was fantastic. Just can't say enough good things about this place.
- 5/5
Very clean well taken care of
- 5/5
We were there for a Chicago Sky game and liked the ability to walk to the arena.
- 5/5
Great hotel! 2.5m from Rate Field!
- 5/5
Bery nice clean
- 5/5
I don't like that I paid a higher rate for a partial lake view. I wouldn't have upgraded if I had known that. It wasn't worth it.
- 1/5
The room I was in had a very strong overpowering smell of urine. I spoke to the front desk about it and they made a note to tell manager. I was instructed to discuss with Expedia for an accommodation to be given because the hotel manager said I prepaid through Expedia and not with them. I’d like to know what you will do for a credit for the two nights I stayed there since the hotel said it might be the pipes and there was nothing they could do but only Expedia could accommodate me.

Good place to stay for a Concert at Soldier Field. By in large not bad, comfortable bed. Bathroom could have used a spot more cleaning,. Parking was not the best. Their parking lot was full, and no Valet parking. Had to park in Convention Center parking garage, with about a 15 min walk back to the hotel. Still had to pay full price for the parking.
- 5/5
Great place to stay especially with the price!
- 4/5
I could not find a restaurant to eat in within walking distance. It was a very long walk from the hotel to the venue in McCormack Place. It might be nice to offer wheelchair rides. The swimming pool was closed for repairs.

Lovely hotel- staff was very nice- room was comfortable and clean

The lobby was packed with people checking in. The staff worked very quickly to check everyone in in a timely manner. The rooms were perfect!

I was staying at this Hyatt-Regency to be near Soldier Field for the AC/DC concert on 5/24. Upon check-in, guest services superstar Tony granted me an early toom check-in at 1pm, then voluntarily discovered that I was a Hyatt Elite rewards guest and upgraded my room to a 30th Floor King room with a perfect view of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. Tony also provided two complimentary bottles of water for my one night. That extra service touch after a long night prior and an awaiting 240 mile drive back the next morning really helped. Courteous guest services, fast elevators, easy self parking, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, warm shower with perfect water pressure, clean, convenient skywalk to McCormick Place,.close proximity to Soldier Field (0.7 miles), plenty of taxi access, close proximity to train transportation. Highly Recommend!

The location of this property was great for our needs. Check in went quickly and the beds were comfortable. However, the staff was unfriendly, and we had issues in the room. The light in the bathroom flickered constantly like a strobe light so we couldn't turn it on, and the refrigerator kept our items just slightly above room temperature. For the price of the room, I expected better.
- 5/5
Nice rooms. Great location.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly/accommodating. Room clean & comfortable. Location was perfect for event we were in town for (AC/DC concert @ Soldier Field). Easy walk to restaurants/bars/stadium.
- 4/5
Our room was very clean and in great condition. The beds were super comfortable. My son was very disappointed that the pool was closed (one reason we booked the hotel), parking was rough (it was a very busy time but we hoped with a child with disabilities that we could at least park in our hotel lot). Check-in was very busy, quick and impersonal, but they were trying to get the line through quickly. We would give the hotel another try during a slower time.
- 3/5
Had difficulty trying to keep the room cool
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff, good area to walk to events.
- 4/5
Hotel room was comfortable and clean. We stayed there to attend a concert and came back to everything being closed and nothing close by.
- 4/5
Busy place. No parking on the main structure due to event. Parked in another lot next to hotel.
- 5/5
Stay was wonderfyl. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Very friendly . Was given a corner suite upgrade without asking.
- 5/5
Great stay for a concert at soldier field.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Easy check in and parking. Right next door to the public train.
- 4/5
Nice but a little pricey but was convenient for why we were in Chicago.
- 5/5
This hotel is in a safe area. We walked to Soldier Field to a concert and it was a straight shot and I never felt unsafe. This hotel had everything you would need-restaurants, bar, etc. I highly recommend

I didn’t like that prepaid for a room with a king bed 45 days before arrival and when I arrived they told be they only have double beds.
