Hyatt Place Chicago/Downtown - The Loop

Hyatt was ok. I initially booked after my flight got cancelled, and I saw they had an indoor pool. The pool was small, the water was cold and you couldn’t even use the pool unless you didn’t mind children’s swimming lessons ,according to the sign, take place every night until 8pm, which is when the pool closes. On the listing, it showed breakfast included, but it’s included if you pay for it. The room was ok. The bed was comfortable.

The place was clean but staff is not helpful or responsive at all. We needed towels and extra toilet paper and they’d bring it after 2+ hrs had passed. Also they offered no safe place or help during the tornado warning. The complimentary breakfast cost over $40 and we were not told it would cost and everytime we needed a key - they deactivated the other ones causing constant confusion. Location is good but service is bad. The pool was also not heated at advertised.

We love staying here, very clean and welcoming staff. Loved their breakfast. And we loved being greeted by Lucia, she was very sweet and helpful.

I can't say which staff member were the best, they all provided exceptional service during my stay! All are great representatives of the Hyatt Downtown/Chicago-The Loop! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The room was quiet and comfortable. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to Willis Tower and within walking distance of The Magnificent Mile. The hotel room felt slightly dated, but it was clean. Overall, I'd stay here again.

The hotel was easy to get to. The hotel staff was amazing! The check in was easy. They have to allow you in past 11pm which is nice to know that safety is a priority. Breakfast was lovely and good. The staff there were so nice. Loved seeing them each morning. There is a place to refill your water jug in the gym. We used the washer and dryer in the laundry room. We had to download an app to use the machines which was fine. The pool is small but at least the hotel had one. The hotel is close to a bus stop and the subway. Location is great. Close to a pizza restaurant (suggested by the hotel staff at 1am. Haha. Thanks!). Having food delivered by DoorDash is easy. This hotel is HIGHLY recommended! Pull out couch wasn’t bad. Could sleep 2 young kids. Our 2 bed room plus couch, slept 4 adults, 1 teenager.

We didn't need much help from the employees; however, we did ask for towels, and they weren't brought up. We had to reask. No biggie, because the staff was nice, and the check-in was wonderful. The pool was small, but it was nice for two people in the early morning. The building and rooms were nice and spacious. My 4 friends and I shared a room, and it served its purpose.

There is no parking directly at the hotel, but there’s a parking garage literally about a minute away, and the best part is that you can leave and come back anytime, which was super convenient for us. The location is also perfect — so many famous and beautiful places are within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again!

I came to Chicago to attend my dear friend’s funeral, so I was understandably very emotional. The staff knew why I was there and could clearly see that I was going through a difficult time. I can’t tell you how impressed I was by the compassion and kindness shown by everyone on staff. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. There are truly good people there.

Sheets were inside out. And the location is difficult to get to if you are not from there.

I loved the location of this hotel, right downtown and close to everything I wanted to see. Right on bus line to take me to aquarium. Walking distance to Riverlwalk and Millennium Park. There were not too many dining option on the weekend which really surprised me. Property was great. The pool was too small for me to try it.

The pool closing at 8 PM was disappointing, especially for families who are out during the day and hope to swim in the evening. When we arrived, there was a door jam issue and tools left in the room. The toilet also continuously ran and made a loud whistling noise. The nighttime staff, with the exception of one kind gentleman, seemed unwilling to help or move us to another room. One employee suggested having maintenance come in while our children were trying to go to bed, which was not ideal. After continued issues, we were eventually moved. The second room was finally the room type we had originally booked and requested. Unfortunately, we also never received the crib we had requested.

Don’t recommend spending the extra money for a city view it’s a scam there’s not even any accessible points for a view on any side of the building so it’s pointless if you’re gonna book just get a regular room u might even get a better view than I did lol, they also do the bare minimum as far as amenities and room service, place was overall clean and helpful staff

Stayed for the evening to see Hamilton. The hotel was clean and modern. Room was spacious with nice layout, about what we expected. Very disappointed with cocktail bar. The "bartender" took 10 minutes to take our order then an additional 10 minutes researching online how to make martini and gimlet cocktails that were ALREADY on the menu! The burger we shared as a snack before the musical and the breakfast buffet food were average at best. Expected more from Hyatt Hotel in Chicago Theater District with all the competition.

My room did not seem very fresh. It didn’t smell bad but it was not a nice feeling. Everything was brown and stiff and uncomfortable. Felt like an out of date hotel. I was expecting more for the price and location. A bit too down at the heels.

First we got there and the gentleman who checked us in didn’t inform me on hardly anything until I went to check out and got to the room and our view was a wall and they acted like I was supposed to know that! It stated continental breakfast my sons went down to see what it was about and said it was nasty and we went to the yolk and when I went to check out they tried charging me when it was continental! We weren’t informed we would be blocked in on leaving to go home plus I paid 59$ for parking come to find out being blocked in I couldn’t use my vehicle it was a disaster!! Worse room I’ve stayed in for years!!

The walks are so terribly thin it’s insane; I was forced to listen to a conversation between a couple that wasn’t so great. The hotel maybe in the city “downtown” that’s the only draw in breakfast is sub-par, only a little pool (cold), had to buy 8 dollar water bottle, though the lady said she give it for free if I became a member. The couches in my room were stained (disgusting) as well as the chair was nearly low to the ground I couldn’t control the height…its was just an awful experience! Glad I only stayed for two days.

This location was fantastic! Right in the middle of everything we wanted to see in Chicago.

As expected, our room was clean and in great condition. The pullout sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant/ bar and it was good. Very limited menu options, but what they offered was good enough. Last but not least, Julian was at the front desk and did our check-in and took our dinner orders (does he do it all?!) Julian was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive, helpful and very professional. His work ethic and demeanor are outstanding and make a difference and making us feel welcomed.

Everything was good at the Hyatt, staff were fabulous, the only downside is when you have to pay deposit they actually charge your credit card unlike say the Hilton they put a stop of 100 dollars on your card then realease it when leaving but the Hyatt doesn’t and it takes a few days to get your money back from them.

My flight was cancelled due to maintenance so I called to this hotel BEFORE check in and they did not want to move or cancel my reservation. I called both Expedia and Hyatt and none of them cares for their clients. I was left alone in the airport with my small children!! They did not cared and they kept my money. I don't recommend this place and I will take the legal steps to get make them accountable.

Very calm & cleanz

Well located, clean and modern hotel that does everything well without being outstanding. Staff were all helpful and dealt with things quickly. Soundproofing between rooms could be MUCH better though. The singing and loud TV at 1am and loud nocturnal activities at 3am from the room next door suggests they were *really* enjoying themselves but not great when you're jetlagged and need to attend morning meetings.

Helpful and friendly staff. It was very convenient you’re able to check out through the app as well as text the staff instead of calling or walking down. I always stay at Hyatt Place in the loop and look forward to each visit.

They don’t have parking and you must pay 65 dollars a night on the public parking across the street. On the positive side, the hotel is in a great location, a couple blocks from the sky deck and the rooms and pool are decent

There is no parking onsite, the temperature sensor was ~2 ft from the window so it was difficult to cool the room down. Small trash cans. Room service every other day, contrary to the daily that was advertised. Bathroom was really nice, great lighting; master switch to turn off lamps easily. TV available to cast to phones easily, wifi easy to set up, ample outlets on each bedside. Staff was super friendly and happy to help!

There should be a garbage can in the room. The fridge in the room should work. The breakfast was sub par. The plastic nubs on the bottom of the pool bruised my foot. The elevator was not operational during the entire stay. The staff were very kind and helpful, though. The pillows were very hard. The room was clean. The staff were great but the corporate issues were sub par (pillows purchased, pool design, room design, breakfast ingredients, elevator).

We did not have any bedding or pillows for the pull out sofa. We had to go to the front desk for that. Also, the breakfast was poor. We didn't even have eggs.

The room was peaceful. I appreciated the good water pressure of our shower. I felt that the sins of my ancestors were washed away, my skin exfoliated, and it helped me have a great sleep. Whenever Im back in Chicago, Id gladly stay there again.

Overall, the hotel aligns well with its positioning.

Construction started at 6:45am. No one at the front desk told us about this.

The breakfast was great, the space was clean. I couldn't find the sofa linens and some of the outlets didnt work. Maybe there is a switch i needed to turn on? Maybe that needs to be labeled better.

We like this property and want to come back, but please fix the electrical on that side of the room and coach the team on service recovery. A simple fix, an alternative, or even a small credit would have gone a long way.

Parking was a hassle

The room was average and fine for the night. Check-in took way too long, and I didn’t get into my room until after 3 PM. Breakfast also closed up way earlier than the posted time, which was disappointing. The best part is the location, which was really convenient.

It is kinda tucked away in the south of the loop area, but its clean, the staff are pleasant and the process to check in was quick and full of information about the property amenities.

Everything about the building was good, however, the check in was at 3 pm and my room wasn't ready by 6:00pm. In the end they couldn't give me the room i requested and ended up giving me 2 single rooms instead of a double and I had to sleep in a different room separated from my family. Even with all the inconvenience, they didn't even offer a compensation.

Biggest gripe is that the parking is down the street, and $62 per night! That really needs to be up front. The pool is indoor on the second floor with a max capacity of 25 but theres no place for their "pet friendly" guests to do their business. Their suggestion was to take a walk and find some gravel. Even airports have potty zones.

I was there for 2 days and elevator broke down 3 times. Fryer in restaurant was broken limiting menu. Walls very thin, so I got to listen to a crying baby for 2 days. Doors also sweaky. Carpets on floors are frayed by elevators. Needed to leave earlier and manager refused to waive last night, but also did not come out of the office to speak with me instead used an employee as a go between. As a past GM, I know policy could be waived and the room could have been resold as it was lollapalooza and an employee informed me that they were sold out.

Hotel was good for my family’s visit to Chicago. The only issue we had was the room was very humid and quite warm the first 36 hours regardless of what we set thermostat at. Even the carpeting felt damp. By our last day/night it finally cooled off and became less muggy (it was in the 70s outside so not heat wave related).

I was very pleased with the location and price first & foremost. The hotel was beautifully taken care of and the room was very spacious of my family of 5. The only minor drawbacks is the pool is small (10 ppl max) can enjoy it comfortably. And avoid parking in the open parking areas!!! They will charge $50+ vs going thru iparkit app and save 50% and best part is you can locate, reserve & prepay parking all around the city. BEST KEPT SECRET!!!!

I stayed for 5 days and didnt have housekeeping show up for the entire duration. I even requested housekeeping at the front desk, but still nothing. It is convenient and relatively clean, but really poor service.

Great location, nice rooms, very clean. I left one of my bags in my room and though they found it, they did not hold it for me till the next day when I could retrieve it. I did not get my bag back.

Excellent staff. Solid property. The elevator situation needs to be looked at. They have three elevators and one has been down for two weeks. Staff and service crew are using the other two elevators and the wait times can become extremely long.

Great for a weekend in the City visit

My stay was lovely. Couldn’t ask for a better trip. The staff was very courteous besides one lady who was there for the breakfast line but other than that it was fantastic!!! Would definitely stay again

Hotel was wonderful. The room was modern, clean and VERY large. It was near subway stop, client, and restaurants. My only complaint is that the motor vehicle noise was loud even though I was on an upper floor.

We got here early and they had our room ready for us. It was 9;45 am so we had time to see sites without our bags. Wonderful!

Everything was great! Only issue we had was the pool closed earlier than the posted hours, so our son was bummed. It did open up in the morning, though, and was a nice feature to have included.

No attached parking. There’s a ramp across the street but it was $62 a night during time of visit. 3/22/2025. Very tight temporary loading area. We had a group of 14 (6 children) so we had a lot of luggage but there were no carts or dolly available so we had to make several trips from the lobby up and down to our rooms. Description online was misleading— saying there was breakfast but it’s actually $11 per person, not complimentary. No microwaves in room. Pillows on bed were very small. No blackout curtains so we can see light shining from the large windows from the building across from us (about 30 feet) even with the blinds pulled down.

came in early morning and the staff on duty told us our room was ready (gave us a room key and all. when we proceeded to room, it still had guests in it. when we left for the day and came back around 1030 pm, our room was still not ready. super inconvenient & at that point could have driven home.

They don’t offer complimentary breakfast they make you pay and it’s a limit of wristbands you can receive there are no microwaves in the room and the ones the had didn’t work

This my 3rd time being here really and I do enjoy the property but the pool was cold normally it’s heated and it needs to stay open till 10 check in is at 3 but pool close at 8 that’s the only downfall..

Had a few discrepancies with one employee telling you one thing, then another employee telling you something different. For example, I reserved 2 rooms, at check in I was told they’d be connected, we get to the rooms and that’s not the case, it actually wasn’t even possible to connect 2 queen suites so now my family was split up on 2 different floors, and they resolved this with giving me complementary water lol. Then I was told when I checked in we had free breakfast, get the bill at the end of my stay and my guests and I were charged for breakfast every time. However when I called the issue was resolved immediately. Nice location, very clean. No other issues. So I’d still recommend staying here, and I’d stay here again.

It's an amazing location, close to subway and River walks

We have stayed here the previous 2 times we have been in chicago and will stay again. The staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is convenient. Affordable WITH a pool.

Absolutely enjoyed our stay. Customer service was friendly, attentive to our needs, and very accomodating. The fitness center was spacious with plenty of different machines, and a beautiful view of the city. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We had a family room with a sleeper with a great view. It was abpleasurable and comfortable stay. We will definitely stay there again.

--The couch had large stains on the cushions. I honestly didn't feel comfortable sitting on it. --The bed is FIRM. If you like that then this is the place for you. I ended up laying on pillows to help. --Before making my reservation I called to make sure they have room service. They said yes. Upon my arrival I found out they do not. You have to go downstairs to get your food if you order it. Not a deal breaker, but wasn't what I was told.

Personnel was very nove

Was in town for the weekend for Ohio state vs northwestern game at wrigley field. Stay was great, room was clean breakfast was great and had a late dinner, pizza and wings thats was good as well. One suggestion is valet parking!

Quiet and close to union station.

Hyatt place is right in the prime Chicago metropolitan center within walking distance to key places like the Willis tower, the bean, London house and the Chicago River. Great overall service, sanitary rooms and great amenities. I highly recommend

Good location in the loop but not a lot open still since Covid. Rooms were not cleaned at all during stay and coffee facilities not refreshed everyday either! Paid $75 deposit supposed to be refunded after 3/5 business days but still waiting after nearly 10 days

No service came to clean my room or bring fresh towels during my 2 day stay. I found old food under the couch, which was disgusting. The lightbulbs in the room needed to be replace and were flickering nonstop.

I loved everything about the property, from cleanliness to polite staff. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was that they offered to do housekeeping every other day, so I requested every day (which is included). On our second day housekeeping came by and we weren't quite ready to exit the room so I asked the lady to come back in about 20minutes and it turns out she never came back at all. My room was not clean when I returned from my business meetings that evening.

Good location, but nothing else special about this hotel. It’s a basic Hyatt surrounded by expensive unique locations.

Please if you’re looking to have a good trip do not stay here. We asked for a city view and received a brick wall. The mattress was allllll stained it was very gross. The pillows are extremely uncomfortable and when we asked for a room that actually had a city view all they offered to refund was 15$. I urge you please if you want to stay here and are torn between another place please please pick the other place. There’s no valet, parking is down the street. Not to mention the pictures are very misleading it looks like there’s separate rooms or at least space between each bed and there is not I do not recommend the suite for 5 people you will have a terrible time. Also the air condition sucked and they charged us 4.50 per water bottle. Only good thing was the makeup remover lol never ever staying here again
