Reviews
The hotel is praised for its excellent location, close to various attractions and public transportation. However, the condition of the rooms and the hotel itself is a common complaint, with many guests noting the need for updates and better cleaning. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness are often highlighted, but some guests have had negative experiences with certain staff members.

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance to Lincoln Park and many restaurants. Staff was kind and helpful, although 2 of the 3 elevators did not work for most of our stay. The rooms were clean and spacious, although a bit outdated. The hotel is going through a renovation. Good restaurant downstairs and the rooftop bar is great. I would stay here again.

Location was great that’s about it - very worn out - elevator constantly breaking down - bathroom so small it was hard to use toilet
- 3/5
This hotel has a great location but it is so tired. The “newly renovated rooms” are clean but very basic. I won’t be staying here again.

Overall not good. Too many things to list.
- 0.5/5
Location No cold water, (you can't take a shower or take pills because the water is so hot). no television, no phone to call front desk with problem. At Checkout U noticed guests were offered water at check 8n, we were not. They offered coffee or cocktail, not to us. The room is tiny, they call them suites, absolutely ridiculous for 300 a night. Very disappointed.

We had a renovated room which was great but the elevator was broken, so it took a bit to get up and down. Location was great!
- 1/5
Happy to check out and go to a different hotel in Chicago. Will never stay there again.
- 2/5
I paid over $1,600 for a two-night stay and the room itself was quite ill-maintained. The furniture was worn and scratched up. The elevator was out of service. It should have been closer to $100/night.
- 2/5
Location was ok, access to the water and other spot, it’s a 45 min walk from the loop. It’s old, from the elevator to the rooms it’s decrepit.

I stayed at this hotel from May 23–25, 2026, and had a very concerning experience regarding guest safety and privacy. During my stay, an individual was able to gain access to my floor and obtain a room key associated with my room without my authorization. My understanding is that the hotel requires identification before issuing room keys, yet someone was apparently granted access under my name without proper verification. I reported the issue immediately and was told management would investigate. It has now been over a week, and I have still not received a meaningful response or explanation. Hotels have a responsibility to protect guest safety and verify identity before providing room access. This incident represented a significant breach of trust and left me questioning the property’s security procedures. The lack of communication afterward has only made the situation more frustrating. I hope management takes this matter seriously and reviews its policies to prevent something similar from happening to another guest.

The room was pretty nice for the price and felt very clean. The rooftop bar had some good options for food and drinks. Location is also really nice with the park and zoo close by.

Roof top deck closed one day and other days closed off to reservations need more open and flexible seating for guests of the hotel.

Tv did not work, drain in bathtub was clogged, water dripping from facet cause build up of water at the bottom of the tub.
- 2/5
We have stayed at the Hotel Lincoln before and loved it. This particular experience was surprisingly poor. Room 1201 was charm-free. The bathroom is so weirdly cramped there is literally one inch between the toilet seat and the side of the vanity. One has to sit on the toilet at an angle in order to sit at all. The in-room coffee situation was Motel 6 quality. Additionally, people trying to find the rooftop bar kept getting off at 12 and then loudly stumbling around to find their way up. All in all not great.

I enjoyed my stay. It is right across the street from a lovely park and zoo with plenty of shops and restaurants to walk (honorable mention: Nookies for breakfast). The little window displayed a lovely view of Lake Michigan and the park, which was nice to see at sunrise. I was very comfortable and felt safe as a female alone, but the room felt like a dorm room rather than a lux experience. This is fine for my needs (I visited with a friend who was staying at the Sonesta which is luxurious by comparison). I didn't want to spend a ton of $$. The roof top bar was amazing - 5 stars and a reason to visit the Lincoln Hotel even if you decide not to stay there.
- 3/5
The hotel worked for our purpose and the front desk were helpful. The location was very convenient. However, the hallways looked a bit dingy. Our bed had a few stains on the sheets. Also a wall in the bathroom was cracked/bulging and there was a lot of dust in the air vent in there

Hotel Lincoln is in a fantastic, central location. It’s incredibly convenient for getting around: only 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by bus to Wrigley Field, and just a 20-minute bus ride or a 10 minute car ride to Millennium Park. Plus, Lincoln Park is right across the street, the zoo is within walking distance, and Lake Michigan is only a 15-minute walk away. The staff was absolutely amazing. Robert went out of his way to get us a mini-fridge for my wife’s medication. When that fridge ended up malfunctioning, the staff kindly stored the medication in their own fridge until ours could be replaced. As for the room, it was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, but the bathroom was on the smaller side. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and we highly recommend it!
- 1/5
Nothing is good. No hot water, air condition make loud noise and doesn’t cool the room, bath room smells like a dead animal, front desk staff is worst if we ask any thing no help I never seen any hotel like this. Very very poor
- 3/5
Had updated room that stated it had a pull out sofa couch. The pull out sofa was actually just a trundle extension that wasn’t enough room. Bathroom nice, rooftop bar nice.
- 5/5
The shower spray was hard to control so water got all over the bathroom floor making it slippery. I had to use the bath mat and a towel to make it safe to walk.

upgrade to two bathroom room. proximity to park and complimentary drinks every day. upon arrival at 9:45pm, front desk immediately got on their phone and without looking up told me to hold on a minute while he scrolled. clogged and leaking tub and toilet. Staff opening my room door without knocking first, repetitiously. In room phone not working and had to use my phone to call front desk and have no one pick up. webs on windows.

The hotel is a great location but it needs to be updated. The carpet needs to be replaced throughout the entire hotel.
- 5/5
Loved the older vintage style feel, accommodating pets, doesn’t make you feel like you’re in an extra clean office space but in a well loved hotel 🙏
- 5/5
older property/rooms -- great view of the Lake, park, etc. -- rooftop bar is great -- coffee shop on-site
- 5/5
Second time staying here. Love this hotel. I do wish they could get reduced fee parking with the Chicago History Museum. We stayed 4 nights and parking was $160. That’s my only complaint!
- 3/5
Room was dated and not clean. Pull out sofa had stains. Window AC was loud. Not a comfortable sleeping environment at all. Elevators were unreliable. What this place offers is a top notch location, a great street-level restaurant and bar, and a great roof-top restaurant and bar. That’s the only reason it scores as high as 3. The room and other “amenities” were poor. We will not go back.
- 5/5
Ron at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. All the staff made the stay great!
- 1/5
Motel 6 quality room.
- 2/5
This hotel needs to be renovated desperately. It’s a great location, lovely staff. Nice coffee shop, but the rooms are deteriorating. Great rooftop bar. It has all the bones of being a great hotel but it will require a multimillion dollar investment.

Location suites us well, centrally located. We like the neighborhood, typically go around the corner to Nookies for breakfast. We prefer the neighborhood feel to the retail/office space feel of downtown.

Location. Access to CTA. Bed was comfortable. Room was an accessible room and as such, the shower left a lot to be desired. Had to hold the shower head in hand to use, water went all over the place due to no step and short shower curtain. Condition of bathroom was not great. Refills of coffee/tea don’t happen unless you ask for it. Toilet paper refills had to be requested. View from room was non-existent.

Hotel Lincoln is very dated and overpriced. It is a joke that they charge you a destination fee on top of the already expensive prices. The carpets in the rooms are very old and nasty.
- 2.5/5
The location Breakfast options in hotel minimal. Room okay, bed too firm and made me sore. Bathroom design terrible. I had to reach in shower to turn on the water so you get wet with cold water while you adjust your temperature. No shelf in the shower so the shampoo etc was on the very small counter by the sink. No extra shelving in the bathroom. The shower leaked all over the floor due to poor design and placement of shower heads. When housekeeping cleaned my room they did not replace my bath mat or towels and did bit refill my coffee pods.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lincoln overall despite a few bumps ... On the minus side, the walls are thin and if you have a loud neighbor, like we did on the first night, you can hear everything going on next door. Fortunately, management eventually agreed the next morning (after the first clerk we talked to said he couldn't do anything for us) to move us to a newly renovated room on the top floor. Both rooms we had were TINY - just a few feet bigger than the bed. If we wanted to hang out in the room, one of us were forced to sit or lie on the bed as there was only one chair. The bathroom in the second room we had was so small there was no mounted toilet paper holder - the paper was kept on the top of the toilet tank. There was one rack for towels. No grip bars in the walk-in shower, which had a very slippery floor. A previous occupant's hair on the bathroom walls (yecch). However, aside from the tinyness of the room, we were satisfied with our stay. The public areas were hip and inviting and the location is outstanding. Be sure to get your daily tickets for free coffee or cocktails and bottled water.
- 1/5
Accommodations which I need as I’m disabled. That made things harder. The room was in poor shape, there were paper wrappers on the floor, so it didn’t seem Like it had been vacuumed. The only desk chair in the room was broken, the old Fashioned air unit was broken and stuck at 74 and blowing at my face all night long. The tv didn’t work. There was no light in the closet. The valet was beyond rude. When I told the manager, his answer was, oh. I would NOT recommend this hotel. We come to Chicago often and will not stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. All staff interactions were very friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar had excellent views and atmosphere. The restaurant on the ground level had wonderful food and beverages, and it was a beautiful place to hang out and visit. Our room was beautiful as was the view of the park. Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
No parking
- 4/5
The room was perfect except the fact that we booked a room with a lake view and received a room with a view of the building. We were so tired after a 12 hour drive that we were not heading back downstairs. We could not call because our phone in the motel was not working. Housekeeping the next day was so friendly and helped us with amenities that we had forgotten. Close walk to the zoo and water which was amazing. Front desk was super friendly and had a great sense of humor! TV is not smart so select channels. All in all it was good for a quick one night stay.
- 5/5
The day was long, but we were warmly greeted by a wonderful gentleman named Ron outside the hotel door. His friendly smile and extensive knowledge made our day brighter. He shared some delicious dinner ideas and recommended some fantastic places to visit. We had a wonderful stay.
- 5/5
Would like to see a couple bottles of water in the room. There were none in the vending machine or the coffee shop during our visit.

Got a card for free drink at Elaine’s coffee shop. Ordered a small chi tea latte and they said it wasn’t covered? Only their basic tea and coffee…. Despite marketing move.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, nice view and room
- 4/5
No refridge , AC was great , Roof top bar was awesome
- 3/5
The room wasn’t what I expected. We had a renovated room on the 11th floor and the walls were white and white sheets… it felt very cold. Not the warm feeling we got from the photos of the other rooms. AC / Heater wasn’t working properly. Staff was great, especially Ron! And the restaurant attached (the Americana) was really nice!
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location, but not directly on a train line. If you’re a runner, it’s perfect! Only downside was the rooftop bar staff didn’t clean up any used glasses or cans, so tables and the fire pit was very sticky and cluttered. On weekend nights they have DJs that are so loud you can hardly order. My room was on the 12th floor and I could hear the music! Otherwise I had a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Everything went well!

Everything was clean and well kept! The staff were very polite and courteous.

Very clean and cute boutique hotel. Rooftop bar is amazing. And the park, nature habitat and access to the beach are great for walks and running.
- 5/5
We loved our time at the Hotel Lincoln and come here a couple of times per year. Special shout out to all of the dedicated staff. One note of concern is that they have remodeled the top few floors and the new decor is not nearly as attractive. The remodeled suites look very stark, bland and generic, more like an office building. They are missing the warm, artsy and unique look we fell in love with from the time we first stepped into the lobby. Some people might like the new look but my family and I hope they at least keep a few of the floors in the old style so people have a choice because we would hate to have to find a new hotel for our regular Chicago visits!

Location is great No hair dryer, or tumble dryer (whatever that is.) no cups in the room. Disappointed there wasn't even a microwave for the price of the room.

A very nice pick. Not like a typical modern style hotel. This one had a grate comfortable vibe with grate staff. The restaurant is actually amazing and everyone that I interacted with there was so amazing. Genuinely some of the best customer experience I’ve ever received!

Solo one night stay for show at the Park Wear 3 blocks away.

One of the elevators door was very rattley/shaky, which was a little unnerving. However, elevators just make me nervous in general. The elevators we took worked just fine.

Room was beautifully updated. Had ample mirrors and outlets for my 2 friends and I to get ready for a concert at the Aragon Ballroom. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Checking in and out was very simple and easy. Definitely will be staying here again. - 3.5/5
We have been staying here yearly since 1990. Sometimes I wonder if nothing has changed - yet - if you get a cozy room or suite with updated carpeting and homey art and a lake view PERFECT! But if not you might get a “modern” room with the ambiance of a towable trailer. What the place lacks occasionally will be tolerated for the location and access to recreation, the zoo, the beaches, Michigan Ave, Old Town, dining, entertainment etc. My suggestion if updating is the plans would be to not go all out sterile modern. The best rooms in this place have an understated elegance and comfortableness. If all modern plain sterile rooms I’m moving on to another hotel.

Location, coffee shop and restaurant! Austere rooms. Could have used paint color, bedside tables with shelves/drawers, a second chair. No room for unpacked suitcases under the beds. I had mine on the ironing board. Probably ok for just one guest but not great for a couple. Bathroom needed a counter for toiletries.

It was nice and central and close to the park and the Michigan river. The upgraded room is a MUST, my rating is only on the upgraded room not the first room. The room was very spacious, very clean and I loved my time there. That I had to upgrade my room (it was cheap enough) to being a comfortable room.

It was in the quieter side. I got 2 free drink tickets for the coffee shop or bar on the rooftop. The bathroom was so small.

Stayed at Hotel Lincoln and had a great experience overall! The location is fantastic—close to everything and perfect for exploring the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really made the stay more enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable. While the bathroom could use some updating, it didn’t take away from the overall positive experience. I’d definitely consider staying here again!

- 4/5
Good lightong and modern decor Sink was too high and small. Limited luggage lay-out space.
- 3/5
Used to be a cute boutique hotel and still has a lot of that charm. But the property is a little rundown now. Our bathroom had cracking/peeling tub, worn/torn towels and a wall heater that was SOOOOO loud. The room and bathroom were also really small - although I know that’s true for most city hotels
- 4/5
It was nothing fancy, but a great location and worked for our short stay.
- 5/5
Bring a mirror! We stayed in the newly renovated rooms. Beautiful room. However, the bathroom design is awkward. There is no counter space to even shave or do hair. I would recommend bringing a handheld mirror. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There is a rooftop bar that is great and a wonderful restaurant on site. Highly recommend this hotel.
- 2/5
The walls of the hotel room were the thinnest walls I have ever experienced. I could here my neighbors talking.
- 5/5
Nice enough. Very nicely renovated with the best views!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Nice coffe shop down stairs. The rooms are cozy, carpet floors, colors and design really makes you feel like you’re in Chicago. Nice city view. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathrooms are clean. Will be back.

The location cannot be beat. The rooms were in terrific shape for the age of the building and well-kept. The staff was very kind and efficient.

The location of this hotel is very convenient for visiting family in Chicago, so we have stayed here multiple times. This time, we were upgraded to a spacious, comfortable suite. The price of the room was a good value in November. When we arrived in early evening, our room was not ready and the person at the front desk could not tell us how long we would have to wait. Finally the manager came and upgraded us to another room. The hotel is old and funky and the rooms need updating.

Beautiful hotel corner room right near Lincoln Park Zoo and views of Lake Michigan.
- 3/5
People were helpful and I got in one of the renovated rooms which was nice, but the air was blowing and it was hard to control the temperature, and the sliding door fell off it’s hinge. It’s my second time staying here and the highlights are roof bar and location. Facilities are just tired and not great - even the renovated rooms. If you’re going to stay here be sure to ask for one of the renovated rooms.
- 5/5
It nestled in a great location. I would stay here again. Tip: I booked a SpotHero to park for half the price the hotel was going to charge for the same parking lot.
- 3.5/5
The problem, is that when my payment was being processed, it didn’t go through on your end, which is not my fault. When the page reloaded, the price was $80 higher, which happens to be the exact amount you pay extra for incidentals. It was bait and switch, and it cost me an extra $80, because I thought I was paying for incidentals which were not included. I am going to write a very negative review of booking.com. Booking.com
- 2.5/5
I was expecting a higher quality hotel for the price we paid.
- 3/5
hotel location was ideal to be able to access the lakefront and restaurants The room was tiny and nothing like the photos - there are renovations going on. We got one of the renovated rooms and it was nothing worth mentioning and almost comically tiny (the toilet paper couldn't be mounted to the wall as I'm sure it would have impeded sitting down). Also, part of the reason we stayed there was for easy access to the J. Parker but it was closed for a private event the one evening we stayed there.
- 2/5
The room was run down even with paint peeling from the walls in some areas. Kind of dingy.
- 1.5/5
The staff was competent. The coffee shop in the lobby had good coffee and pastries. The hotel room was dated, tiny, uncomfortable, noisy and unpleasant. There was no chair or couch. No refrigerator. The desk chair was broken. The air conditioning unit was ridiculously loud. The bed was old and uncomfortable. They didn’t provide enough towels. The shower head was problematic. The restroom in the lobby was hot, dirty and smelly. Long waits for elevators.

- 3/5
Now the rest. At around $200 per night during the Christmas season, plus $39 per night for parking some distance away, the room was a letdown. It was small, dark, dated, and tired-looking. The queen bed had an uneven mattress, the headboard was essentially a piece of fabric hanging on the wall, and the bathtub had unpleasant chips. Not great, but we accepted it as holiday-season reality. What we could not accept was the air conditioning. It didn’t run—it roared, loudly and unpredictably, making normal conversation difficult. Sleeping required turning it off, which led to a fun overnight cycle of too hot, then too cold, and sleeping dressed. Despite all this, I was prepared to write a positive review—until 5:30 a.m. on our second morning, when the alarm clock (which we did not set) went off. Same room, two nights. No alarm the first morning. Surprise alarm the second. While we regret not leaving a housekeeping tip (we only had $100 bills), an unrequested 5:30 a.m. wake-up call feels like an unusual response. Dear management: consider removing alarm clocks as we all have phones. And future guests—come prepared. Surprises here may arrive before sunrise.

The beds were not comfortable and the heater kept cycling on and off all night.
- 5/5
Nicely renovated
- 3/5
Room greatly in need of remodel
- 1/5
The electricity only worked on one side of the room. Had to beg three times to get our room cleaned. Television was lacking channels and the channels it had no sound. The towel rack was broke. The carpeting was old. No refrigerator. No communication.
- 5/5
Front desk and valet were excellent. Quick check in.
- 3/5
What was disappointing was the level of service. While I struggled to load several suitcases into my SUV with my elderly mother beside me, the doormen sat on their phones, occasionally looking up but not offering assistance. The front desk staff were polite but disengaged, and interactions felt flat and robotic. I have lived in Chicago on and off for several years and rarely feel the need to leave a negative review, but in this case the staff seemed very young and/or not adequately trained in hospitality. With better attention to guest service, this property could be much improved.
- 4/5
Clean room with nice view of Lincoln Park, a bit noisy heater in middle of night.
- 4/5
Room was just okay. Broken, mismatched window treatments and ugly decor. I stayed at Hotel Lincoln in Feb. 2020 and the room decor was beautiful! What happened? Please equip rooms with decent coffee makers. The one in room 1203 was terrible - no directions and tiny little barely-decent-cup-sized portions. Not everyone uses single serving Kureigs and knows how they operate.
- 4/5
The room was small but well appointed. Thin walls allow you to hear neighboring rooms clearly. Nice roof top bar
- 5/5
Staff was very welcoming. The room was above my expectations. A lot of room, clean, and comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean room and convenience
- 5/5
Yes
- 3/5
The furnace was noisy, off and on all night.
- 4/5
The room was nice,, most of the outlets don’t work so had trouble charging the phone ,, and the room phone never did work to even call the front desk!
- 4/5
The newly remodeled rooms are much blender than they used to be with their old design. I’m very happy to see the restaurant downstairs is open.
- 4/5
It was a really nice hotel and the staff was nice as well but the door to our room wasn’t great. The hallway lights came thru the side of the door and lit up our room which made it hard to sleep. There also wasn’t much storage area for clothes and the bathroom didn’t have much counter space. Not sure if we’d stay there again.
- 5/5
Great service and room
- 4/5
nice stay -- a little "worn" but staff nice
- 3/5
Room was small. Bed was a glorified futon. Old room with a crappy renovation.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The room was clean. Only one issue - on the day we were checking out there was no hot water.
- 3/5
Really a 3.5 because the location and view (over the Lincoln Park zoo and the lake) made up for a lot of little issues. The room was clean and comfortable for the price, although it did show its age. The wifi and TV on our floor never worked, the smoke detector started chirping at midnight, and no one ever answered the front desk phone (over 3 days); yet the response I got when I mentioned these things was "OK, got it" or "it must have been the battery." It felt like the staff, though nice people, were not well-trained or adequately supported. Since we love the area (and the rooftop bar) we would stay again, but would hope that Hyatt would invest a little to iron out some details. We did appreciate being allowed a late checkout on our last day, plus great responsiveness from housekeeping.
- 5/5
This is a very charming hotel with great staff and an excellent location
- 5/5
Staff who checked us in was great-very friendly. Room was pretty nice, but right between the elevators.
- 5/5
Great location easy access to many want to see! Open market across the street 2nd City Comedy around the next block.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Excellent team, carpet had a weird cleaner smell, but otherwise was fine.
- 3/5
Rooftop was closed, sat in a chair in room that was completely wet and soaked pants.
- 2/5
No refrigerator in the rooms. The whole place needs updating and a deep clean. Won't go back.
- 4/5
Good room, good bed, nice style. Bathrooms could use an upgrade: large room but no vanity space. Shower was only lukewarm with limited water flow.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooftop bar was nice. The rooms could use a little updating. Great location!
- 2/5
Wifi in the room did not work. Two of three staff made no effort to try and correct the situation. Staff never answered front desk phone after trying ten times. Tv in room didn't work. Hair in "clean" washcloths. Very noisy, run down room. Upgraded room did not have cups for coffee.
- 4/5
Awesome.
- 4/5
Clean room. Small bath. Should have better sheets. Convenient location.
- 5/5
All good
- 2/5
While the recently renovated room was nice we were disappointed that there were no glasses or bottles water. One of the bathroom doors would not stay shut and there was a tear in the duvet cover. We also noticed that house keeping didn’t vacuum our room. I was also disappointing to order an $18 cocktail and $20 glass of wine only to be served in a plastic cup(rooftop bar). We most likely will return and hope the room will be better equipped.
- 3/5
air conditioning was really loud, rooms need updating, rooftop lounge was rented out for a private party.
- 5/5
In town for a wedding. Enjoyed J Parker rooftop bar and especially Patrick, who was very personable and a great asset to your staff. The reception was at J Parker and we had a great time. We got upgraded when we checked which was very nice.
- 1/5
Also- Elevator was tiny and buttons don’t work for the 11th or 12th floor. No refrigerator in the rooms, no hook or rack to hang towels. And another guest was explaining to them that while his room key worked, anyone could open his door without a key and the staff did not seem worried or bothered by that. Skip this hotel entirely!
- 2/5
We tried two different rooms, ya know due to the mold. Every room has its own problems. The rooftop bar is beautiful. The lavender vanilla latte, amazing.
- 4/5
Brighten up rooms, dated and dark
- 4/5
I needed a hotel near my house while repairs were being done. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location, pleasant views and funky-artsy vibe. There are some updated rooms, but I did not have one of those. Very small, basic room and bath. The only chair was a desk chair. The queen bed took up most of the room. Bath could use more counter soace and grab bars in the tub area for safety. It’s ok if you won’t be in the room much and plan to be out enjoying the major city park across the street, the Old Town neighborhood, Lincoln Park Zoo and access to Mag Mile. The top floor bar has a spectacular view with interesting decor, but consistently bad food. In general, food choices in the hotel are limited, but there are lots of good restaurants nearby. Don’t expect the amenities of a major hotel. Stay here for the friendly atmosphere, views of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan as well as walkability to city attractions.
- 3/5
3 star hotel in an awesome location
- 1/5
The room I was checked into had a musty smelled and mold all over the ac unit. I complained and was moved into an upgrade suite that was even moldier. They gave me a refund, and I ventured out to find a new hotel very late at night. Mold is a serious health hazard and it’s absolutely wild that their cleaning staff doesn’t address it.
- 2/5
No food options for breakfast. The coffee shop had no food options and the on site restaurant does not open till 4pm. Rooftop bar cosed for private events and otherwise opens at 4pm as well. If you stay here you will need to leave premisses for anything other than dinner.
- 4/5
Stayed in this hotel for family living in Old Town
- 4/5
Hotel’s a little tired, but awesome location and cool roof deck.
- 3/5
Definitely cheap on amenities. Old elevators at this location always make getting to your room a task. One was out of order, which wasn’t their fault but every time I stay here it’s always a big wait for the elevator. Staff slightly rude at one point. Had a few other minor issues but overall just not worth the price.
- 1/5
Be aware of the extra fees they charge and it’s in the fine print (hidden fees)
- 3/5
Not to close.
- 4/5
Extremely walkable area of the city. The hotel gives a boutique experience with tons of options for food and entertainment. Staff was kind and hospitable.
- 4/5
Nearby shops and restaurants!
- 3/5
Room was small. Corridor was dirty.
- 5/5
Great location! Right across from Lincoln Park and walking distance from restaurants and bars.
- 3/5
Fantastic location by the park, great neighborhood, convenient to buses and downtown. Disappointed by our booking experience - we were not given the room we booked (and paid more for, and called ahead to make sure it was showing up properly in Hyatt's system), and no one mentioned the downgrade until we looked at the room and then inquired, as though they hoped we wouldn't notice. That left more of a bad feeling for me than the downgrade, to be honest. Clearly overbooking is a problem at this property (per other reviews). Other than that uncomfortable encounter, staff was very nice. Our room was very clean but felt a little underfurnished. Hotel restaurant was pleasant, in-house cafe had great pastries and good coffee but not much else, cool rooftop bar area seems to be run more like a club, with bumping music and a disaffected door guard -- did not feel very welcome up there. Lots of potential for this property to be a great place if a few things were done a little differently?
- 1/5
We had to move 3 times into different rooms!! 1st we paid for a king and got a double bed, 2nd the room had such a strong smell of smoke, we had to move !! 3rd room appeared to be recently renovated but ( the shower did not drain ) they did have it cleaned out, and we stayed. Prices are way too high for everything !!
- 3/5
Had to wait until 15.25 to check in! Room not ready!
- 3/5
The hotel itself is run down - lots of dust in the room - bathroom is very small & shower head was low - so if you are tall you need to bend way down. It was noisy - as beeping outside all night.
- 4/5
Beautiful views
- 2/5
Check in was rough. Did not care for the overall stay much. Awkward and clunky process
- 2/5
Dirty, outdated, tv didn’t work, no fridge.
- 1/5
housekeeping- no towels, poor service. dirty hall ways
- 5/5
Loved the unique decor and the rooftop terrace
- 1/5
Topping it off, one nice advertised amenity is the rooftop bar. Nope! Not available. Closed 100% for an event. No reason to return. The hotel ratings are way overrated.
- 2/5
It’s very old, they give older rooms if you book thru Expedia
- 5/5
Enjoyed the park view from both the room and the rooftop bar.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff!
- 3/5
Was upgraded to jr suite bc they ran out of queen bed rooms but room needed to be upgraded. Was charged extra $15/day for using hotels.com.
- 3/5
The hotel charged us an additional $17.47/night "amenity fee". Nothing complementary coffee shop and roof top were pay for drinks & food.
- 4/5
Beautiful room with a nice view. A few maintence items, i.ea shower door that would not stay closed and too few towels at check in were the only hiccups.
- 3/5
This hotel is in a good location right across from Lincoln Park. However, the rooms need some attention - they are quite dated and run-down.
- 2/5
Overall the property was at a great location. But our room was small and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling and the tub wouldn’t drain properly when we showered. The hallways had a musty smell.
- 1/5
My son dropped something underneath the bed and it was so dusty, and his allergies were bothering him all night. The TV did not work upon us, turning it on, and when we looked behind the TV, it was covered in dust as well. I'm a DePaul parent and would never stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
I loved the rooftop bar/restaurant!
- 4/5
What started out as a disappointment, quickly turned into a great experience by the gentleman that checked us in. I had booked a queen bed (no doubles available for dates we were there) , but found a full size bed instead. They quickly upgraded us to a roomier jr suite room with a queen bed. My adult son and I were very comfortable. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff very friendly. My daughter had recently moved to Chicago in the Lincoln Park area, and this hotel was perfect to be able to walk to meet up with her. I plan on returning to Chicago many times, and Hotel Lincoln will be my choice. I had read the reviews prior to arriving, and I definitely only experienced a pleasant stay. Thank you Hotel Lincoln
- 3/5
The area of this hotel is what made this hotel. The actual hotel rooms were not very nice, especially the bathrooms.
- 5/5
Great place!
- 2/5
Bathroom ceiling was falling apart and coming down all over the tiny bathroom.
- 4/5
, parking was up street $39 overnight would stay again to be on north side the elevator was a wait and a little slow
- 2/5
False advertisement on the pictures of the room and the fact that they rooftop access is a bar. That was not disclosed.
- 5/5
Rooftop is fun.
- 5/5
staff
- 4/5
All of this said I think we will definitely choose Hotel Lincoln again.
- 5/5
Also, tried booking party of 16 for dinner. Received quick email confirmation of availability which was great. But, never received confirmation, contract or further communication for two weeks. Because follow up by reservation service was slow and poor, we were worried of not having a venue for our dinner/party and we booked party elsewhere. We decided to stay at Hotel Lincoln anyway but other guests in our party found other hotel arrangements. Cool hotel and great rooftop but disappointing experience.
- 1/5
None of these are queens beds. They moved us to a “king” junior suite. It was a Murphy bed. Mattress doesn’t even cover the slats. Feet hanging off all night. And then house keeping never came all day at 4pm when we got back to get ready for a wedding we were attending no house keeping towels etc.
- 1/5
Room wasn’t ready for check in at 6:30 pm. No explanation. We were not allowed to speak to a manager. Carlos was the WORST. Terrible representative for the hotel. Several other guests were treated the same and we all will never consider staying here again
- 3/5
Minus: The overhead shower head did not work and could not be fixed during our stay. The phone to call the front desk did not work, our tv channels 1-11 did not work per front desk and remote needed new batteries which were fixed the next day. Roof top closed due to special event on Saturday. One of the 3 elevators was out of service Sat thru Minday.
- 2/5
Hotel was rundown. Never got room service.
- 1/5
I can't believe that this hotel is owned by Hyatt. The rooms are very funky and old. Large box air-conditioning is very noisy as it cycles on and off. I changed my reservation to leave a day earlier than the original reservation but was not refunded for the night I didn't stay. The location is lovely, and there was a great farmers' market just across the street.
- 5/5
Fabulous customer service! Cute quant hotel in great neighborhood near plenty of terrific restaurants. Stunning views and amazing drinks at Rooftop bar at hotel
- 5/5
The bedroom suite was very nice with two bathrooms . A little outdated, but overall was very happy with my stay for the price.
- 4/5
Wonderful location and view! Could use some updating (phone didn't work, carpets were old, elevator was scary)
- 3/5
older rooms, a bit run down. a/c questionable. wifi and internet service iffy. good location. expensive for what it offers.
- 5/5
Fantastic historic hotel.
- 4/5
Room was small but ok
- 3/5
We booked a 2 bed and ended up with a bed and pull out (with no sheets). They did bring us bedding and made the pull out while we were out which was nice.
- 5/5
We went to a concert at the Salt shed, and it was very close to hotel Lincoln. We loved the corner room we had overlooking Lincoln Park & Lake Michigan 😎
- 5/5
Highly recommended….will be back!
- 1/5
I was so looking forward to staying here for the first time. But I couldn’t stay after checking in, it was so dirty, tired, smelly of wet dog, and felt unsafe. I ended up leaving before even sleeping there. I wish I could say better but it was not a nice hotel. The hallways had lint all over the floors, the doors were sweating so not fitting the jams, the elevator door had brown water stains.
- 3/5
Property needs an update and renovation
- 3/5
Our room was incredibly out dated and not worth the piece. I do believe there are renovated rooms. They said the nonrenovated room had a bigger pull out bed— NOT worth it. The elevator was constantly not working.
- 5/5
The stairwell to the second floor is pretty cool with the work from those artist, great location, friendly staff and really though only knock on the hotel is the loud ac units which is fine as long as it keeps me cool.
- 3/5
Great location. But old property. Remodeled shower had only hand held shower nozzle and had no soap dish. Also any water that hit the shower door ran out onto the bathroom and room floor, which was a lot. Also, condensation from one of the window A/C units ran onto the room floor so much that it could not be used.
- 4/5
The air conditioner was very noisy.
- 2/5
They did not have a room ready upon arrival. Check-in was set for 3pm and we arrived around 5, to no room available. Given that we had time-sensitive plans, I opted to downgrade our room and check in after about a 25 minute wait. Carlos was helpful in this matter, but had been flat and insincere prior. The room was small and pictured is the wonderful house centipede that was present when we returned later that night. The water machine on our floor was empty our first night, and the ice machines on the floors below and above us were out of service as well. Overall, an unpleasant stay.
- 4/5
The hotel was old, the lobby and restaraunt of the first floor were updated. The rooms were small and one of the window blinds didn't work, and the telephone cord from the ear piece to the base was missing. There were no little floding tables to set your luggage on. We had to put them on the floor.
- 3/5
Rooms are very small. Soundproofing between rooms is poor. Renovated rooms are worth the upgrade (cleaner and better lighting, but no larger). Wouldn’t consider a non renovated room.
- 3/5
Hotel room was spacious and reasonably priced for a stay during weekdays. Room did not have a mini fridge and the lack of outlets became cumbersome. There were no lights above the shower.
- 1/5
No parking, reserved two beds got a bed and pullout, unhelpful staff.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved staying here
- 3/5
But overall it was a good room witha. Good view of rhe lake and a nice bed. But photos were EXTREMELY misleading, which was the source of the disappointment. I thought i was getting a huge bathroom for my lady and i.
- 4/5
Hotel was great! The only complaint I had was that the shower was horrible. Water got all over the floor and the tub did not drain at all. Other than that, it was perfect.
- 3/5
The rooftop and location are great, but the rooms and facilities are pretty beat.
- 3/5
We loved the location of the hotel as it was close to Lincoln park zoo and north avenue beach. The rooms are outdated, Our window AC was leaking and made the floor wet. JParker was a beautiful rooftop but the service could have been better.
- 2/5
The Hotel Lincoln is in a great location, but the rooms are not updated, they are dingy with loud window air conditioning units and old carpeting. The hotel charges a facility fee of $15 per day for 2 water bottles per day, wi-fi and a complimentary drink at the rooftop bar, but the rooftop bar was closed for private events both nights we were there. I would not recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Stayed one night for a regatta at Lincoln Park Boat Club. This location was great! Highly recommend. Our room was clean, staff was helpful. Loved the location so much to do around the hotel.
- 2/5
The hotel room needs to be renovated. No vanity in bathroom … bath tub not walk in.,a/c was iffy and loud. The rugs on floor felt damp. The door felt stuck and was hard to open, so I didn’t lock it. I just put the chain on.
- 5/5
location
- 4/5
The location is great and so was the rooftop bar. Our junior suite was ok. The bathroom right next to the bed and the adjoining room doors in the bathroom were weird. I understand remodeling older hotels can be sketchy sometimes
- 5/5
On Saturday morning there was a farmer's market right across the street. Great area for joggers/walkers. The staff were very friendly and nice and accomodating. No fridges in our rooms (we had five rooms) that weren't suites. Beds were full size, but lovely views of lake and park from windows. we'll stay again!
- 4/5
Over all price was a bit higher because of the 4th of July weekend and being a boutique hotel but we liked the property.
- 4/5
Also, television was not working the last two days.
- 5/5
Perfect for what we needed. A nice hotel 5 min from everything we wanted to do. Walked to the zoo. Beds are a little small. But made it work. Sheets were clean. Best water pressure shower I’ve ever had.
- 5/5
The lobby is lovely. Valet service were kind, quick and helpful. Check in was easy. Bed was comfortable. View of the park/zoo/Lake was great. We were able to catch a bus right outside the lobby to Wrigley Field. We stopped in the bar/food areas. LOVED the dog friendly coffee shop. Overall , great stay.
- 5/5
Only issue that I had was parking. Besides that I loved everything else.
- 2/5
Very small rooms, no vanity in the bathroom, very tiny bathroom that had a very old tub/shower that flooded the bathroom. Ice machines did not work on 2 of the 3 floors, treadmill was broken, air conditioner was noisy. For what you charge for rooms and parking, definitely not worth the cost. Will not stay here again.
- 1/5
Run down, gross bathroom with bathtub peeling. Walls are paper thin.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing, everyone was friendly and helpful! Our first night the ice machines weren't working, but they did seem fixed by the next morning, so overall nothing was wrong.
- 5/5
Loved the convenance of the fantastic park across the street, the pet friendly hotel, friendly staff and great location close within walking distance to restaurants, the beach, and fun vibes.
- 1/5
It is too old, door lock is missing, noise and not clean
- 3/5
Elevators need to be cleaned. The Shower was spraying the outside and the tub was coming apart with bits of gray enamel sitting in the tub. The tv sound did not work for channel 12.
- 2/5
..perhaps we should have seen that as a sign. We went to our room, and upon exiting the elevator, the carpet screamed 1970s grandmas couch,an odd orangey lime plaid that probably didn't know what a shampoo was. Our room was right between 2 elevators (not sure how they passed inspection), and was an abomination in itself. The room itself was not a thing like what we saw on the website, not even a cousin thrice removed. The room was tiny, walk sideways to get past the bed tiny. The bathroom was tiny, and the carpet was questionable. Went to our event almost immediately. When we got back, the ac, the tv the phone and 3 lamps didnt work. They moved us to a remodled room which was better, but the ac leaked, shower had mold and drawers fell out of cabinets. We did not stay the extra night, which did not even get booked as told. 4 STAR HOTEL? NO.
- 5/5
Great location to enjoy lake activities. Wonderful roof top bar with views of the lake. Some rooms newly renovated.
- 5/5
Close to the zoo and lakefront!
- 2/5
The rooftop bar is incredible looking, but it was closed for a private event both nights we were there so we couldn’t enjoy it. The building seems like a dirty, old hotel that Hyatt did the bare minimum to make “cool.” Our hotel room carpet was soaking wet from the AC unit. The hotel was out of bottle water. There were no sheets for the sofa bed and it took hours to get a set (needed to put our kid bed). The one treadmill in the tiny fitness room was out of service ( so was an elevator). I can’t believe this is a Hyatt property.
- 5/5
Everything is great! The bar, staff, and food was excellent!
- 3/5
The air conditioner is loud. The coffee maker is complicated to use. It's unnecessarily spacious.
- 4/5
The room was pristine. The staff attentive. The hallway needs an upgrade.
- 4/5
No water provided, parking overnight $72. Beds are perfect, very nice. You can walk 20 minutes to museums.
- 5/5
Very clean property in the middle of where I wanted to be. I would love to stay here again.
- 2/5
Old hotel. Maybe after the renovation of old rooms is complete, the hotel will improve. Staff was very nice. They tried to help but they had limited resources. Water pressure and no hot water in shower couldnt be fixed, old room was just icky. Maintenance tried to fix hot water issue but couldnt, so we were moved to room recently renovated. No mirror, no coffee maker, no cups and tiny bathroom. Water pressure still bad. New shower handheld attachment sprayed out the handle. Lightning in bathroom was bad. Location was great. Area was very nice and close to many nice shops, restaurants, and not far from downtown.
- 5/5
Great stay and very much enjoyed the rooftop and our conversations.
