Reviews
The hotel generally received positive reviews for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and convenient location. However, some guests were disappointed with the lack of breakfast options and the presence of cockroaches in some rooms.

- Lack of breakfast options
- Cockroach infestation in some rooms

Front desk ladies were awesome!
- 4/5
Parking is limited for the amount of guests at the hotel. The public parking right next to it is not safe at all.
- 4/5
It was a decent stay.
- 5/5
Ideally located to explore Chicago. Next to Clinton subway station.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Great location near grant park. Alot of things were in walking distance. Staff was very helpful at check in. And property was well maintained. Are room was nice and clean. Everything worked and was enough for the price we paid. We'll recommend if you wanna be close to downtown.
- 5/5
The bathroom is extremely small

Exceptional
- 2/5
Just not nice.
- 2/5
Not much - the room itself was fine I suppose The location is absolutely terrible. It’s literally on the highway so it’s impossible to sleep. Super loud.

- 4/5
Staff was nice. No parking spaces were open on a Wednesday 3:30 pm.
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff.
- 5/5
It was centrally located for our needs. Union Staion is a short walk even with luggage. We walked to the Riverwalk and to a Park on Lake Michigan. It is doable if you are someone who likes to walk. Staff was friendly and helpful.

- 3/5
Very clean and modern interior. There was no cafe or restaurant within the premises.
- 5/5
It’s a very nice upscale Holiday Inn. I was impressed!
- 5/5
The hotel is located within a short walking distance to Union Train station and all the downtown area. It is very clean and quiet. I highly recommend it!
- 5/5
I enjoyed my check-in hotel experience. Each staff member I encountered with was very pleasant. Especially the woman who checked me in.
- 1/5
I explained multiple times that she was arriving internationally and would be very jet-lagged, so I wanted to make sure everything was smooth for her. I was clearly told that although the reservations could not technically be merged, she could stay in the same room and would not need to check out/check back in until May 18. Today, while she was inside the room resting, two staff members opened her room door because they thought she had checked out. She was extremely uncomfortable and upset by this. When I called the front desk to ask what happened, I was then told she was supposed to come downstairs and provide her card information again. Neither she nor I were ever told this during check-in or during my phone call yesterday. What upset me even more was the attitude from the front desk staff. When I explained that my guest felt uncomfortable because strangers opened her room while she was inside, I was basically asked, “What do you want us to do?” Then I was told she needed to add a debit card at the front desk, and the call was ended.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 2/5
The cleanliness of my room was not great. Trash and dust bunnies in corner of room. I found a huge roach in my bathroom and was not compensated any way for this when I brought the concern to the front desk at night. I absolutely would not recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chicago.

It was good and worth it !

No problems with the room, it was perfectly clean and comfortable - conveniently located parking lot right next to the property as well (though not affiliated with the hotel).
- 5/5
Nice and convenient place to stay
- 2/5
Breakfast $22 did not purchase, parking was $65 a night did not pay for that had to use public parking area. Room had a blood smear on the roof

- 5/5
No breakfast, the parking was convenient but a little expensive
- 3/5
The room was clean but it had a mildew smell. I hated the shower head and the water was never hot enough. This place was just ok. The location was great!
- 3/5
Comfortable bed but very basic hotel. Not as expected for the amount we paid.
- 5/5
missing the microwave. But other then that it was a good place for my family to stay there.
- 4/5
Staff and housekeeping were great! Location was convenient to the blue line. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Rooms
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Close to public transportation. Safe area.
- 5/5
The staff members were amazing, especially Ms. Alina!! Location is right next to the blue line station. Several things walking distance. Will definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Breakfast was average. Breakfast is only included for two guest.
- 4/5
Very clean, staff was super friendly. The only issue was outside noise from the street as it was somewhat loud all night.
- 5/5
Room was clean and very easy and simple check in. The bellman's and valet workers where great
- 5/5
All the staff members were incredibly kind and helpful! The front desk allowed us to check in early and check out late, which we greatly appreciate! I want to shout out Alicia, who managed the breakfast buffet, for being the kindest to my family and myself! Our room was large and comfortable, and we had no issues with our room during our stay. We will definitely come back next time we’re in Chicago!

- 4/5
Staff were pleasant, kind and helpful. Breakfast was not included and was $22. It was a regular hotel buffet. A hotel of this price/quality should either include breakfast or make it a nicer experience. No complaints regarding the room or cleanliness.
- 3/5
The breakfast was too expensive, snd bad
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly but the rooms weren’t that clean.
- 5/5
Parking was not available when we checked in but the adjacent lot was and it was better value than the hotel lot
- 4/5
The room was clean with no issues. Very limited parking on site, but there is a parking lot adjacent to the property that isn't associated with the hotel.
- 3/5
No free breakfast in the middle of construction good location
- 5/5
Great stay ! Will stay here again !
- 5/5
Good lactations.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel room
- 5/5
Everything perfect. Loved the staff.
- 5/5
Good room all around. Was kept warm or cool depending on the preference at the time. Very spacious and nice location. Wish that the room had a microwave, but everything else was solid aside from that. Staff was very friendly and always helpful.
- 1/5
Hotel kinda sucked rooms weren’t nice
- 5/5
Nice location and excellent parking options
- 5/5
Met everything we need
- 2/5
Room was not clean at check-in, the hotel feels outdated, and the restroom and shower are extremely small and uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Nice location for bus travelers and connection by metro
- 5/5

Close to Union Station. Room size reasonable for city hotel.
- 5/5
Spotless
- 5/5
The rooms and staff were great
- 4/5
Staff were lovely and the hotel is not far from the bus station and union station. Rooms were spacious and we had breakfast too which was lovely. The hotel was lovely and warm especially with extreme temperatures outside.
- 5/5
Room was clean and quiet. The manager Alina is the best. She is a delight and made my stay even better.
- 5/5
Cool vibe
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful especially the noon checkout. Very friendly staff, very clean and updated.
- 5/5
Clean Room good amenities excellent location next to the Clinton Street Stop on CTA Blue Line
- 2/5
No swimming pool like they said online, no breakfast included , need to pay extra for it ….
- 5/5
Love the staff! Always helpful and friendly and check in is so smooth.
- 5/5
It was a good experience
- 5/5
Our room was ready early which is always nice to beat the afternoon traffic. Good distance from the city to where it’s not as busy and loud but still gives you the city feel. 10 minute uber drive, all in all a great location, very clean!
- 3/5
The receptionist is not very welcoming. She was sitting the whole time and did not open the main door for us.. apparently after 10pm it can be opened by the room key but we were don’t have it yet since we haven’t checked in. It was a fellow guess who stood up and opened it for us.
- 4/5
Needs to clean Roma in a timely manner an lower the price for breakfast
- 5/5
Very convenient and clean
- 4/5
Nice hotel.. our room was clean and the staff was nice. The only issue was the noise level from the street was intense and loud all through the night.
- 4/5
Staff was kind, comfortable room
- 4/5
The bath tub was clogged, the cleaners didn’t come to clean every day
- 5/5
Clean room , they don’t make up my bed since my stay 25th to 28, they just remove the trash
- 4/5
Location was great.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
The breakfast buffet far exceeded my expectations and had many options. Scrambled eggs, egg bites, bacon, turkey sausage, potatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, bagels, bread, personal jelly, butter, peanut butter, coffee, orange juice, and apple juice. There was always food in the containers and juice in the dispensers. There are also ice and purified water dispensers next to the elevators. There are also snacks, food and beverages for sale in the lobby to include alcohol.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 5/5
Very close to all the attractions and subway station in front making it easily to travel around
- 5/5
Room was super clean as well as the rest of the room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Yes
- 1/5
do not stay at room 226!! there’s bugs on their pillows and they’re don’t care also after 10 days they haven’t return my depositi
- 4/5
The place is reasonably modern and was clean. The staff were pleasant. The breakfast buffet is a bit expensive, but worth the price. The only issue was that the USB outlets would not charge my phone. That's potentially a big problem, since all my boarding passes were on the phone. The front desk loaned me a charging block, which solved the problem.
- 5/5
Very comfortable. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
The room I was put in had some electrical problems. When I called the front desk they promptly gave me an upgrade and moved me to a better room
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Excelente servicio
- 3/5
Courteous staff, nice bedding, but only paid parking available next door and room was rather dirty and unkempt.
- 4/5
Staff was great. The room's bathroom needs a better, more thorough cleaning. Also, we hope the stain on our sheet was just that and not an unchanged sheet.
- 1/5
don’t stay here. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. My car got broken into. The windows shattered. They didn’t help at all or give a solution. Honestly you’re better of staying anywhere else.
- 5/5
I am glad I chose this hotel. It's a perfect location steps away from the Clinton Blue line and Union Station. The hotel was clean, remodeled, modest and the staff was friendly and courteous. I definitely would stay again.
- 5/5
All is so good
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
The room is clean, spacious, and very well decorated. Plus, really good coffee 😎👍
- 5/5
Amazing staff clean and secure hotel
- 4/5
Parking and breakfast are expensive
- 5/5
Everything was fine
- 3/5
Good staff
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful! They helped me acquire parking for the weekend while at my stay at the hotel, I had a great experience.
- 4/5
Very convenient location for blue line from airport & an upbeat, informative welcome from Maurice on reception. Nice clean room with coffee pod machine, and chilled water/ice down the hall, though no light in the 'dressing room' area which seemed an odd omission. Pool closed for winter (a shame). Comfortable bed, cheery checkout from the lady whose name I didn't get (possibly the manager).
- 3/5
Maurice at the desk was extremely helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
Late check out and kind staff made traveling alone with young children a breeze
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff super friendly and helpful. Property and rooms in excellent condition. Easy access to the property. Parking available all the time
- 3/5
It was okay.
- 5/5
Really great location and warm and friendly staff
- 3/5
It was good.
- 4/5
The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and even let us check in early. The hotel was close to the blue line train which was super convenient. Overall a great stay. My only complaint is the shower head was a bit low and not as much of water pressure as I would like. Not a huge deal but could be improved.
- 4/5
Very nice staff and clean place. I also appreciated the quick and efficient check-in process. The beds are also comfortable and the room was spacious enough for me. My only issues were given the limited dining in the area and the cost of the breakfast. The breakfast itself wasn't horrible, there just weren't enough good options to justify the price. Aside from that, this was a pretty decent hotel.
- 5/5
No problems
- 5/5
Staff was great. Proximity to everything was a plus
- 4/5
Staff was courteous, pleasant, and nice.
- 3/5
The restroom was extremely small, I'm a big guy and i couldn't use facilities and be comfortable. I felt squeezed in.
- 4/5
Clean, good service, and great location.
- 4/5
We enjoyed iur stay great location
- 1/5
Does not look as advertised. The staff was great and that as the only thing that was good about our stay unfortunately. We did street parking one day, and it was 10am broad daylight and I was in my rental car getting ready to start driving and I saw someone casually breaking into a car a few feet away from mine.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful enough. The breakfast was good but not free. In house of close by dinner options was missed.
- 5/5
It was very clean and quiet.
- 5/5
We parked in the lot below so it wasn't their fault that it was dirty. Everything else was great!
- 5/5
Holiday Inn allowed us to leave our bags on property after check out due to a late flight out. Was greatly appreciated because we didn't have to lug our baggage around town. Staff was friendly. Location was convenient
- 4/5
The staff was great. He was very welcoming and helpful with the stay. The stay was very comfortable the rooms very clean as well. I recommend it. We had a great time with all of my friends.
- 3/5
Staff was rude, sarcastic. No dinning options. Charged resort fee had no additional services expected at a resort. Would never stay there again.
- 4/5
Great location that offers easy walking access to attractions and dining options. Uber is convenient for longer explorations. Clean and quiet rooms. A little threadworn, could use an update. Overall, a great value for a safe and comfortable stay in Chicago.
- 5/5
All good
- 4/5
Nice staff at front desk.
- 5/5
Ilina (apologies if misspelled) is amazing - an excellent first impression for the hotel upon my arrival.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and was a clean place. Luxury no a place to lay your head at night which is what was needed as we were just in the room for that. :)
- 4/5
Excellent staff, very helpful and welcoming.
- 4/5
Clean, staff was nice. Room was clean. But bathe is tiny. Lobby furniture needs shampooing. It’s nice furniture just stained. Not too far from downtown but I would not call it walkable.
- 5/5
Our room was clean. The mini refrigerator kept our drinks really cold. We were able to get as much ice as we needed from the ice maker. The staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Great experience. Loved the location- so near the subway and train.
- 3/5
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Pretty clean and seemed to have been remodeled. Protesters at 5 am right outside were disturbing but outside of the hotel control. They did let us know about it upon check in at least. Overall felt safe, no bugs, decent price. Close parking for a fee. Convenient location.
- 3/5
Breakfast buffet waffles and sausages could have been warmer.
- 5/5
The best
- 1/5
To make matters worse, at checkout my bill was $801 for a 3-day stay because they improperly billed me. After arguing with the front desk, they finally corrected it down to $620. still outrageous, but at least almost $200 less than their mistake. Laughable hotel. I would never return here, even if it were the last hotel available in Chicago.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, good customer service and very understanding that we were traveling let us bring n leave luggage.
- 5/5
Fantastic staff! Very helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 4/5
Labor union picket line woke us up at 5:30 in the morning two days in a row. We were not informed this is going to take place until after we had checked in would’ve been nice to know.
- 5/5
Had a good stay, hotel was clean and tranquil. Highly recommended if you're taking the train from O'Hare airport, as it's located right in front of Clinton station, and it's close enough to various bus stops.
- 5/5
Construction
- 1/5
Protesters starting banging on drums at 4 am every morning due to unfair labor laws Holiday Inn is involved in
- 5/5
From the moment we arrived the staff was so friendly and helpful. We were a family of 4 (mom, dad, 19yr, 12yr) in town for a concert. The easy access to the blue line was an added bonus. Room was very clean and comfy and worked well for what we needed. The bathroom is on the small side but we made due. They provided a hair dryer, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion (dove brand in big pump bottles). The housekeeping did an amazing job every day while we were out. Will definitely stay with them again if ever in Chicago.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the hotel was pretty nice. Staff was kind.
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly The rooftop pool was really nice.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly. The room was clean.
- 3/5
Booked 2 rooms, but both were not ready at check in. They were very apologetic about it. The other issue was the protesting starting at 5:30 am and people screaming into megaphones at the hotel trying to just antagonize the hotel guests and then after that the construction noise picked up for the rest of the morning
- 2/5
Additionally, there was a labor demonstration outside the hotel for the length of my trip. I commend the housekeeping staff for fighting for their rights. Treat your employees like humans and they won’t have to use the megaphone and bang drums at 5:00 AM.
- 5/5
It was a great atmosphere rooms were clean did not eat breakfast
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly, accommodating staff. Convenient location with quick taxi service and within walking distance of desired locations.
- 3/5
Rooms not worth the money. Small rooms
- 2/5
The staff were very nice and professional, easily the biggest positive. The worst thing is the limited parking for at least $50 a night and if it's all bought out you have to park on a lower public lot littered with broken glass everywhere from all the car break ins(no exaggeration).
- 4/5
The room was clean and beds were comfy but the bathroom lacked a fan. There is a bit of traffic noise but it is conveniently close to the blue line.
- 5/5
Great property, pool is awesome and sits right under the Willis Tower
- 4/5
Good
- 3/5
Good stay but not good shower pressure.
- 5/5
Staff were so friendly and helpful and polite
- 2/5
WiFi didn’t work, paid 120$ for parking which should be included when booking the room. Strange people standing and walking around the hotel, doesn’t seem like a safe area. No microwave included with rooms. Overall I will never return to this hotel
- 5/5
We have a Freshman attending UIC this year…literally 3 blocks from her dorm! But the water pressure in the showers leave A LOT to be desired..We have better water pressure in our RV shower..But that’s my only complaint
- 4/5
Maurice
- 3/5
Excellent service at check-in but pool needed to be cleaned and while staying in the room it sounded like a window was open. I found out the window was poorly installed.
- 4/5
It's not right downtown but close enough... a good little walk to here and there... not bad. I'd stay again if opportunity arises
- 5/5
Front desk service was good
- 3/5
Decent hotel
- 3/5
In the parking lot where you're supposed to pay for the service, there are people who aren't guests using drugs all day long, making the smell when you enter the hotel unpleasant and uncomfortable for both tourists and hotel guests. Cleanliness. The bathroom is only cleaned the day the room is checked out. The next day, they only leave you the toilet paper you had the day before. The shower has hair in it (of course, from the person staying). The beds have folded sheets, and with the bottom sheet folded, it looked like they had only put back the main bedspread because there were even stones or dust inside the sheets. Service perfect.
- 5/5
Bathroom was too small
- 3/5
Room itself tight, no hair dryer , bathroom wall near toilet was peeling. Lot of money for those inconviences
- 3/5
My honest review… the beds sucked. They were rock hard. The shower head gave out minimal water. The pool did not look like the picture in the ad at all. It was just an outdoor pool.. nothing special. Parking is $65 on site… glad they had a public parking lot below to park and it was way cheaper using spot hero to park there. Pretty much everything you want to do or eat needs to be drove too. Nothing close by to walk too. It was a fine hotel to sleep at for a couple nights but nothing luxurious.
- 5/5
VERY CLEAN, COMFORTABLE. STAFF FRIENDLY. FELT SAFE. ONE OFTHE BEST BREAKFAST. POOL WAS VERY NICE AND RELAXING ON THE ROOF. NO RECYCLING.
- 4/5
I liked how easy it was to check in, and there are tons of parking spaces
- 1/5
Bed bugs
- 5/5
Friendly staff and close to the places I wanted to go to
- 1/5
Saw a huge cockroach in the room, which made our stay horrible
- 5/5
Stayed here for about a week w my girlfriends and it was great! Staff was amazing and friendly. I would def stay here again!
- 2/5
!
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here. The front desk staff was absolutely amazing. His name is Maurice and he was the best hotel employee we have ever met in like 25 years of traveling. The room smelled nice and was spacious enough and clean. Overall a great stay.
- 4/5
Location is excellent. 2-3 blocks from Union Station (Amtrak & Metra), and a CTA Blue Line stop. About 5 minute walk to the Loop. Some great restaurants within a couple blocks. The hotel is older and a little shop worn, but it was clean and the staff we met were all friendly and helpful. Because we mentioned we were in a special anniversary trip, the lady at check in gave us two breakfast vouchers. Breakfast is buffet style, like what is free at many hotels (but not as good) and here costs $22. Had we paid for it, we would have been very disappointed. So book the hotel for convenience and skip the breakfast!
- 5/5
The property is located in a very convenient area and is walkable. It’s easy to get a bus ride near this property. The staff were also very helpful. The parking was also easy.
- 5/5
I was happy with my stay. Clean rooms and friendly staff
- 4/5
Coffee in the lobby would be nice
- 3/5
My complaint is the sound proofing. We could hear all the street noise and I’m assuming if we were next to someone loud we would have heard them too. Bring earplugs and keep the fan on the A/C running for the night if you can. Parking is $65 so use park pirate for the lot just below the hotel. We paid $15 a night or so.
- 4/5
Excellent location!
- 5/5
Very close to Clinton blue line if you plan on taking public transportation. Quiet hotel with roof top pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was how tight the bathroom was. For a family you couldn’t fit more than one in the bathroom to get ready at once.
- 4/5
Staff was super nice.
- 5/5
Reception was polite and helpful..clean hotel..will recommend
- 4/5
I felt the room was a little small. It was just two sisters staying but if it was a family with children, it would be pretty tight. The bathroom did not have a fan which surprised me and the tub was slippery. We are both seniors and we felt a little uneasy while showering. It would be nice to have a bath mat or have the tub outfitted with slip resistant material. Overall the room was fine. The mattress and pillows, etc. were great!
- 5/5
Great!
- 4/5
Overall a good place to stay. We stayed in the queen suite. Only negative was the Bathroom was really small. Room was clean and updated. Public Parking next door was convient, would suggest booking the parking yourself and not through the hotel, they charge more.
- 5/5
This place is great. We hope to cone back soon!
- 4/5
The people were nice. The rooms were clean and air conditioned.
- 5/5
Good experience
- 4/5
Everything was was excellent. The only issue is the water pressure, but other than that the staff and hotel itself was fantastic.
- 5/5
We walked from Union Station to the hotel and walked everywhere we ate. The hotel staff was amazing and we enjoyed the rooftop pool.
- 4/5
Front end staff soured the stay a little by smelling of some substances. Hotel could do more to refresh as it is looking tired.
- 3/5
Hotel is fine but needs a shave and a hot meal
- 5/5
Its was very nice and pleasant stay
- 5/5
It was excellent. Our tv in the living room area did not work. I contacted the hotel through a text service and it was immediately fixed. Great hotel, great service and love the rooftop pool on the penthouse level!
- 5/5
Quick two night getaway - hotel was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Close to Union Station and Greyhound. Shout out to Maurice who gives awesome service at front desk.
- 5/5
Very clean and the night desk gentleman Maurice was awesome 15/10.
- 5/5
Very nice property near Union Station. Nice rooftop pool area, comfortable rooms/bedding. It’s not located near many restaurants, bars, convenience markets. Closest market was a 12 min walk. The hotel offers a few snacks, drinks, beer, wine (but only Sutter Home - yikes) in its lobby store. You may want to bring provisions.
- 2/5
Lobby smells like urine
- 4/5
It was a beautiful view on rooftop. Breakfast prices are too high and had to park elsewhere as parking rates are high too.
- 4/5
Good value!
- 3/5
Pretty basic and surroundings pretty run down
- 5/5
ALL WAS GOOD
- 1/5
offered a partial refund.
- 5/5
The staff was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Chicago.
- 5/5
Great location. The pool is great.
- 5/5
I love the pool and the atmosphere of the whole hotel. Very clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Very clean, organized, and safe

It was so close to everything in city. Great access to the blue line and cheap parking right next to the hotel. Couldnt have picked a better spot

Nice place to stay

While clean, the room had wear and tear, the sheets were too small for the mattresses and kept coming off in the night, the bathroom was really small and cramped. Parking at the hotel was $65 a night and very limited spots. There is a public parking lot right next door that was a lot cheaper to park at.

The employees were excellent and super helpful. Older property but fit our needs

We had a nice suite that allowed for a balance between each of us having our own space and spending time together.

Room, pool, lobby were all clean and had a friendly enviorment. Hotel was in a good area and within walking distance to major city transportation, which i would recommend taking since finding a place to park was difficult to find/expensive. Staff was very friendly and I was able to do an early check in with great recommendations of the area. If i go back to Chicago, i will definitely be coming back.
