Reviews
The Claridge House hotel is generally well-liked for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the size of the rooms, noise levels, and additional fees.
- Great location in a quiet, safe neighborhood close to amenities
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Small room size
- Noise issues, particularly from neighboring rooms and street noise

The location and lobby of the hotel were great. The rooms were tiny, no closet (just a bar sticking out into the room to hang your clothes), dim lighting, filthy stained carpet, small bed, window that looks against a brick wall with a bunch of pigeons all roosting on the window ledge, small bathroom with zero counter space. Was not worth the original price we paid and not up to Hilton Tapestry standards. Needs a complete facelift. Hilton you can do better! Recommend a different hotel in the area (area and location were fabulous).

The location is perfect. A cool neighborhood of Chicago The room was far too small and in front of the room window I had a brick wall. No view.
- 3/5
The bar/restaurant was misleading in that the website advertised food (smoothies) that wasn't actually available. Staff was helpful in bringing requested additional hangers for the closet. They responded to our report that I broke a toe running into the tile fireplace hearth (didn't remember/see the raised tile when room was darker in the morning). The fireplace hearth tile is a hazard that should be addressed asap. The hotel is in a good location, easy walk to coffee, breakfast and not too far from the city center. Property is a little dated and worn but has charm.

The staff are very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable . The only down side is the room is smaller and there really isn’t any closet space.

The hotel is fine overall, except that it shows its age, at least in the room and bathroom where we stayed. We had booked a deluxe room with a king-size bed, and the bed was large, but the room didn't feel luxurious at all. The bathroom was small, with almost no space to put anything around the sink. The shower was old, but it worked fine. What happened—and this is entirely the hotel's fault—is that they placed a $100 hold on my credit card, telling us it was in case we had any expenses at the hotel. The truth is, we didn't have any expenses; we didn't have breakfast or use any of the hotel's amenities. However, at check-out, they initially told us they were going to charge us almost the full amount for something we didn't understand. When we collected our luggage, I complained again, and they told me they were going to charge us more than $50 and would refund the rest. In the end, they charged us $58.70 without any justification. When we made the reservation, we had already paid the room rate, taxes, and the $25 per night resort fee ($50). Since we were charged twice, I request a refund of the amount charged incorrectly. I ask that you return the $58.70 that you have pocketed without any justification.

Great small property in a great neighborhood. Close to the beach, Lincoln Park, CTA transit.
- 3/5
Goes to show you cannot trust the ratings completely. Employees were professional and friendly. Probably the Hilton most in need of the facelift. Carpets were stained, paint was chipped, bathroom fixtures looked to be 20 years old. Design of room was for a single person with no extra cloths. There were no drawers or closets to put our clothes.
- 5/5
I was Very satisfied with our accommodations!!! They answered all questions and met all our needs…
- 4/5
Clean room, but some scratch and dents here and there. Elevators were quick, but need updating. Lobby was clean, classy and well attended by guests. Location was quiet and upscale. I felt safe in the neighborhood. I would stay here again.
- 3/5
It's a great little hotel that needs more attention to details in the rooms.
- 5/5
The breakfast was scrumptious. The bar in the lobby is special because of Oliver the bartender who was a wealth of tourist info. The entire staff was helpful. A great restaurant next door is the 3rd Coast. All delicious food and staff that feels like family.

beds were too hard for us appreciated the happy hour option only complaint was my daughter ordered a shaken espresso and the barista put so much milk in it, she couldn’t even taste any coffee flavor and the regular iced coffee was bad.

Our stay was amazing from the check-in. The staff is very attentive and would check in with a daily text to see if we needed anything. The location is perfect. So many restaurants and stores within walking distance. We will definitely stay again!

Bar and bar manager was very helpful and great young man… Nest part of the stay !

Cute boutique hotel with a nice bar and coffee shop. The air unit was a little noisy, the TV felt far from the bed and the volume was hard to manage. The shower pressure was weak and the water did not get hotter than luke warm. Don't bother using the hair dryer. It was very weak.

Comfortable and quiet. Great location, and around the corner from a red line station. Friendly, accommodating staff. Some carpet stains. The shower doors are awkwardly placed: We stayed in 2 rooms during our stay; in one room the shower door opened on the side opposite of the faucet so you had to get wet to turn on the shower; in the other, the door opened inward under the faucet so the outside of the door got wet when turning on the shower.

The staff of the claridge is excellent! The parking was next door, but no valet service with the hotel and no price reduction with the hotel. Parking space was limited. We found one on the top floor, but discovered no elevator and we had luggage to carry down on an old stairway. Luckily, Nate manager of the garage, who was on his way home, stopped to help us. He found us a spot on ground floor and carried our luggage to the claridge. Wonderful gentleman! The bar was small with odd stools and a menu kiosk up against the last stool. Most uncomfortable for bar patrons when a small group gathered to order on the kiosk. Decor and colors of the claridge were dull and boring. Most of the art had little or no connection to Chicago. I understand there will be a renovation, please bring life and vibrant colors back. It was so welcoming. A “real” admissions desk would also be welcoming. The little pieces of desk were confusing. May I suggest a restaurant with a broader menu than sushi. Love sushi, but my friend needed a burger meal. We will not be back to the claridge! Possibly once the site is renovated. It was truly our very favorite boutique hotel in every sense of the words. Please note, the staff was excellent and helped when they could. Thank you! Regards, Judith Mitchell
- 5/5
The location really stood out. It’s in a beautiful residential neighborhood that feels quiet and charming, but still close to everything. We easily walked to Old Town, Lincoln Park, and the shops on Oak Street, which made getting around so convenient. Staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay, which always makes a difference. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very nice great location appreciated the bar credit to get a morning macha
- 4/5
Failed to plan for Parking. It was next to hotel $64 for 24 hr. /expensive.
- 4/5
No housekeeping service for short stay, they say they only do it every other day. Our room was a deluxe king on the 10th floor but only had one window which faced a brick wall and emergency stairwell. Not a great view. AC unit was old and noisy. Room was clean. Staff was friendly.
- 4/5
Have stayed on many occasions at the Claridge as it is a smaller hotel and located just where I like to be on the Gold Coast. Staff super friendly and helpful, have a nice happy hour. Only issue I had this trip is that our room was a terrible design, particularly that of the bathroom which seems to be stuck in where they could fit it. Difficult to navigate during the night, tight quarter and awkward door position. Other than that , had a great stay but would not stay again in that room
- 4/5
Very nice hotel, but our rooms toilet and fridge barely worked. The staff helped us out though, so very good customer service.
- 5/5
Good deal
- 4/5
Hotel is cute and staff is excellent
- 5/5
Very nice, smaller, perfectly located hotel to our daughter's apartment. Our only problem was that we had to check out one night early and head for home.
- 5/5
Bryson was exceptionally helpful, and the accommodations feel very homey. Good value, also.
- 5/5
This is our favorite hotel in Chicago. The only thing that was different on our last trip was the parking garage next door. It is under new ownership, and they made it very difficult to leave and come back, even though we bought a three-day pass with in-and-out privileges. The management at Claridge House is aware of the situation and is working on a solution.
- 3/5
The hotel will probably need renovations soon.
- 5/5
The front staff was amazing. Very helpful every time I call for housekeeping, the front staff took care of my needs personally. The bed was comfortable. The room was small but it is Chicago and an older building. They rehabbed it nicely. It is a very cute hotel. I would definitely stay here again. They just need to vacuum the hallways.
- 4/5
Good area.
- 4/5
Quaint boutique property in a great location situated between the Gold Coast and Old Town. Room was small but sufficient; clean and well appointed. Complementary wine hour was nice, but we missed it.
- 2/5
I don’t know what happened to this hotel. It used to be a high scale property but now it is a dirty old broken down dump. What was supposed to be a very special stay was a complete disappointment. There weren’t many better options I wish I would have chosen. Couldn’t leave fast enough. How is this now a Hilton property and what have they done to it.
- 4/5
Had to upgrade due to how small the room was.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, great location. Will stay again!
- 5/5
Everything was great we loved our stay!
- 5/5
The hotel was a great find. I did notice a lot of outsiders come in to utilize the internet. They also brought food in from outside not supporting the hotel. Took space away from us that were staying there.
- 3/5
Our room was on the 7th floor right in front of the elevator and you could hear every time the elevator was in use. Nobody’s cleaned our room or gave us fresh towels Staff were borderline friendly. There was lady at the front desk who didn’t explain everything to us in check in and that same lady was there when I check out and didn’t even ask how was your stay nothing. Another stay at the hotel cafe was very rude towards us and unhelpful. To be honest I won’t be staying here again was not worth the money. Definitely one of the worst place I have stay
- 5/5

- 5/5
I had a great experience on this short stay. My room was clean and comfortable and the staff very welcoming.
- 4/5
Room is very small, they don’t clean the room when you stay multiple days… bar/ coffee bar was good and convenient in the lobby. Close to lots of stores, restaurants, bars. Great location
- 3/5
Otherwise the hotel is ok but need some improvement’s. .
- 5/5
Excellent staff, excellent location, free room upgrade as well!
- 5/5
Clean, great service, free wine at happy hour, far enough away that things are quiet but close enough to walk to restaurants and entertainment
- 4/5
We love the hotel and staff but parking has become an issue. The garage next to the hotel no longer reserves spots for hotel guests and we had to park in a garage 10 minutes from the hotel.
- 5/5
Very clean. Nice place to stay

The room was a great size and we had a cute view out to the street. It was also in the perfect location!

It was great and the employees were so friendly and accommodating. Our flight ended up getting in way earlier and they made sure we had a room and were comfortable. The wine balky hour every day is awesome and safe with the the $10 fee that can be applied to the hotel bar. Perfect location, in the city but not extremely city where it’s loud. 1 block from red line.

I will only ever stay here when I’m in town!!! It’s so clean I feel so safe and the front desk workers are always amazing<3
- 4/5
This hotel is in a great area, and was clean and stylish. The rooms are a tad small and the furnace was loud. Staff was courteous.
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet, excellent location
- 5/5
Very good food and great service.
- 5/5
The rooms are really spacious for Chicago and location is unbeatable- smack dab in the Gold Coast and a quick walk to Old Town. Ruby at the front desk is fantastic. The only drawback is you have to ask to have your room cleaned.
- 5/5
Did not eat
- 4/5
Staff was average at reception No room service so that was a real bummer
- 5/5
Great rooms and location. The lobby and bar area were a great place to sit and have a drink and visit and play games.
- 4/5
It took 30 mins to get two cups of coffee. Also, the shower door didn’t close and water was all over the floor. The heating unit was incredibly loud.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was amazing. They upgraded our room, it was so spacious and clean. We loved our short stay.
- 4/5
Nice stay
- 4/5
Great location.
- 5/5
The location is unbeatable. Quiet neighborhood, welcoming staff, and access to all the Gold Coast has to offer made our visit a 5 star experience.
- 5/5
Claridge House is my favorite hotel to stay at in Chicago. Very boutiquey. Great location, and everyone is very nice and professional. And the Sushi by Bou restaurant is an absolute must!
- 4/5
I really liked this location - we will stay here again.
- 5/5
Checking in and out was easy! Very friendly people who were very helpful.
- 5/5
Clean room.
- 5/5
room was clean, bar was nice and cozy
- 5/5
Staff are always welcoming and helpful!

Second time staying at this property, which I really like. Had some difficulty checking in and was told I hadn’t paid in advance, when I had. It was sorted eventually, but perhaps there were some training issues. I’d still come back. Good value, great location.
- 2/5
The hotel claimed the room had a queen bed when it obviously did not. They put weird tiny pillows on the bed to try to make it look bigger than it was, but you could barely fit your head on these strange square pillows.
- 5/5
The staff were so kinds when I got there late and was all stressed out because my mom was in the hospital. I also appreciate the daily ‘check ins’. Nice touch!
- 5/5
Great location

My new fav
- 5/5
Trevor greeted us warmly and handled our check in smoothly. The other staff we dealt with were all polite and professional. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel is extremely well located to provide easy access to all parts of the city. All in all it was a fabulous stay.
- 3/5
The room was not clean. We couldn't find the remote. After looking under the bed we found the remote and cigarettes left behind. There was garbage laying on the floor behind the waste basket that was never cleaned up. We have stayed here before but were very disappointed this time.
- 5/5
Room was immaculate, Staff very friendly, area was great & price was excellent. Would highly recommend and would stay again. Opt for the 1 bedroom suite if it's in your price range.
- 5/5
This is a clean and comforting hotel. The staff are welcoming and pleasant.
- 5/5
The Claridge House consistently provides an exceptional experience, making it our preferred choice whenever we visit. Its prime, walkable location is unbeatable, offering immediate access to boutique shopping and world-class dining. The rooms themselves are impeccably clean and notably spacious, complemented by a staff that is both genuinely friendly and highly attentive. The daily happy hour was a delightful and welcome amenity that truly elevated our stay.

I loved this location and hotel. Staff is awesome and helpful and it’s in prime location. A little older but I mean you’re in Gold Coast almost everything is older! Definitely recommend for your next visit such a cute vibe.
- 5/5
Staff is definitely very helpful, location is amazing.
- 5/5
Nice hotel although the carpet could be replaced.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Loved this hotel, great location, pet friendly.
- 4/5
Light switches in bathroom new to be cleaned.
- 5/5
Perfect location! Felt like we were local in this wonderful neighborhood, but just a quick walk to the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago. Claridge House had everything we needed.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, room was clean
- 4/5
Great location, nice bar downstairs. The only surprise was that they didn’t change our towels out daily. When I called to ask for fresh ones, they brought them up, but didn’t take the old ones. I thought they would freshen up the room daily, but they didn’t. Also, the parking garage Nextdoor has a hard time fitting in large cars. Heads up if you’re driving a large SUV.
- 4/5
Breakfast options weren’t great but the rest of the stay was nice
- 5/5
Perfect location in a neighborhood setting yet just a few blocks from the lake, shopping and restaurants! Didn’t go to the restaurant or bar but will next time. Very friendly and helpful staff
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff. Was allowed early check-in and received high floor with a view as requested. Thanks again for a great stay. My go to for the location when in Chicago. Easy walk to the lake, restaurants, transportation.
- 3/5
Nothing special (aside from the free wine hour). The room lacks a view and ambience. Our window looked directly into another room.
- 5/5
Great location and staff is noce
- 5/5
Super staff, quiet building, nicely decorated in a neighborhood with great restaurants. Very close to transit. Will very definitely stay there again!
- 4/5
Great location and staff Tiny room
- 3/5
Everything about my stay was great! It was the check-in that was a little "clunky." When I arrived the front desk clerk could not find my reservation booked through Hotels.com in their system. I had to produce the email and confirmation number to prove I made a reservation. Luckily the hotel was not booked up and ultimately I was also upgraded to a king bed
- 4/5
Clean room, bustling lobby, amazing staff: Mrs Cookie is truly a gem!
- 5/5
This hotel was super quaint. It had a signature scent that I loved. The coffee bar and buddies were excellent. The breakfast menu gave healthy options. And it was close to several nice restaurants.
- 5/5
Nice hotel to stay in, locate in a safe area with a lot of food choices.
- 5/5
Quick check in- good amenities and location
- 5/5
The room was perfectly clean & cozy. Loved the location and the cafe on the main floor!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. If you rent the room with the fireplace, be sure to call and confirm with them. Expedia did not confirm this and my room was rented to another party. The hotel was very gracious about the error.
- 5/5
Was perfect
- 5/5
Everything was amazing as usual. Great hotel
- 4/5
It was a pleasant experience from start to finish!
- 5/5
No breakfast
- 5/5
A lovely, well appointed room in a gorgeous, quiet part of town.
- 5/5
Friendly and efficient staff
- 3/5
Parking is a nightmare next door at Laz due to long wait time. Even if you paid in advance the one valet driver had to park each vehicle. The adjacent hotel room had a paper thin door so you heard all their conversations. Very small elevator but location is excellent.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff
- 4/5
The Vibe of the Residential neighborhood
- 5/5
The check in texts were greatly appreciated. When I returned to my room and noticed that it hadn’t been serviced, I sent a text and it was taken care of promptly.
- 5/5
Great location - walking distance to everything we wanted to visit, including museums and riverwalk. Hotel was quiet at night, allowing for a good sleep. Rooms were small but comfortably furnished - modern and clean. Really liked having the safe and water / tea / coffee in the room. Housekeeping was great! Lobby was stylish and nice having a bar, even though I didn’t use it. Staff was friendly and efficient. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Convenient location, friendly helpful staff, clean room, cozy lobby area with amenities
- 5/5
We received two bottled waters for the resort fee over four nights.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly. Our room was clean. The hotel charged $25 for items that we only saw upon check in. For instance, if you wanted the water that was included in the $25 fee, you had to go to the front desk and ask for it. Other hotels we have stayed at replenished the water each day. When we went down to get coffee pods for our second morning, the front desk refused to give us clean coffee cups. We kept running into things that were odd like that throughout our stay.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel close to Red Line stop. Walkable to Restoration Hardware and many nice restaurants and shopping. We took the train to Field Museum. Great place to stay, quiet and safe at night.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly & helpful.
- 5/5
Exceeded expectations
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Beautiful location. Walked to Lincoln Park zoo.
- 4/5
The room was not the cleanest but the staff was great there was no free breakfast so I didn’t try it and we did not use the parking the hotel offered.
- 4/5
Honestly the hotel is very nice and the rooms are great but you cannot stay in a low floor in the front of this hotel…it’s madness.
- 5/5
There are many garages to park at nearby if you don’t want to use the valet. Also, they were very accommodating with early check-in and our bags.
- 5/5
Room was smaller than I imagined but not cramped. Only one chair in the room that goes with desk. Not in the best shape and not very comfortable.
- 2/5
Staff was very rude at check in. Felt like we were an inconvenience. Standard King room was very small.
- 4/5
Really liked the Claridge. Wonderful neighborhood and convenient to the Newberry. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was nice size and spacious. The lobby has many comfortable seating areas which was very convenient. There is a Starbucks two blocks away. Only downside, the bedsheets could have been cleaner and fresher. Some stains and they felt really old. Otherwise, a very nice stay.
- 4/5
Overall good stay. I really feel you guys need to change your pillows. My friend and I found them like sleeping with nothing. Very poor condition. May be some of the worst pillows I have had at a hotel
- 5/5
EXCELLENT Staff, clean, central located
- 2/5
Room wasn’t ready at 3pm which was the check in time, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience.
- 3/5
The staff is lovely, the lobby is nice and the location is good but the hotel rooms and hallways feel a little worn down and dated. For example the shower door was weird because you the way the door opened you could not turn on the shower without getting wet. The wallpaper in places was peeling. Nothing was gross or dirty, just worn down in need of some new polish. That said, we had a nice stay and we’re not in the hotel enough for it to matter that much.
- 4/5
This was a great hotel for our trip. Second City is walkable from the hotel which was the purpose for our trip. The neighborhood was safe. Beautiful Brownstones line the street. The hotel staff is delightful. Valet parking is literally next door. The only reason I didn't rate this hotel five stars is because the noise from the air-conditioning fan was a bit loud throughout the night.
- 4/5
Dated, but decent. Good location
- 5/5
Friendly
- 5/5
I highly recommend this hotel. Our room was amazing and the location can’t be beat!
- 5/5
Everything was excellent, customer service excellent, cleanest excellent, bar excellent, front desk excellent, except the Hermetic systems against the exterior sound or noise.
- 5/5
This was the cutest place to stay with the friendliest nicest staff. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
The hotel room was so clean and nicely appointed, and the neighborhood is fantastic. The staff was so helpful and welcoming and even assisted our friends in placing surprise wedding gifts in our room. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
George at the concierge desk is wonderful
- 2/5
No cash payment option and the Spanish speakers didn't help at all. Especially the Mexican lady, her attitude was so rude.
- 3/5
Nothing to write home about
- 3/5
The front desk attendant was generally unfriendly upon arrival, which taints the first impression...
- 4/5
Easy walking
- 5/5
My room was clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for leisurely walks to the lake. The staff is friendly and accommodating - especially Ms.Cookie! I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We love staying at the Claridge House while in Chicago. we travel once per month to the area and really appreciate the management at the Claridge House. Trevor is always professional and helpful during our stay.
- 5/5
Small rooms but clean and comfortable. Pleasant staff. Centrally located
- 5/5
Staff is incredible. Great location
- 4/5
Internet did not work for about 12 hours of our stay. That was a problem since both of us were there to work part of the time and planned to hunker down in the hotel room to do so. I asked for a refund for part of room cost, and it didn't seem likely it was going to happen. Other than that, good hotel. Probably better for leisure travel than business travelers.
- 5/5
lOTS OF EATING OPTIONS AND SHOPPING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
- 5/5
Great time there!
- 4/5
Street noise incredibly loud every night at 4:30 AM!
- 5/5
Nice unique hotel. Nice people, great area. Did not like that parking was $64 for 24hrs plus tip. which was about 20% of cost of room. Other than that hotel was great and it was an enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
great hotel in beautiful street close to everything
- 5/5
The hotel is nestled in a great part of town with beautiful homes. Feels like a gem in the most amazing spot in Chicago. Safe to walk and close to convenience store & Starbucks. A few minute walking by Riverwalk & the Zoo. It is also a 10 minute walk to Michigan Avenue “Magnificent Mile” Shopping & restaurants. Restoration Hardware next block over & make sure to check it out. The hotel has a great bar & sitting area downstairs as well as outside seating. Everyone from the front desk to the bar staff were excellent. The selection of food, coffee, and cocktails was also great. The rooms were quaint but clean & newly renovated. Trevor the Manager texted me to check on my stay and quick to provide what I needed. Maura the front office Manager was also very helpful. The team here provided a world class customer experience. Make sure you book here next time you are heading to Chicago.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, I truly enjoyed my stay

We stayed at the Claridge House for one night. Great area with so many dining options within walking distance. Also, close to Lincoln Park and the lake. As far as the hotel, it’s a charming little hotel in a great part of town. We got a fireplace room, very comfortable room with a small sitting room. Keurig coffee machine and small frig in the room. Writing desk, easy chair and ottoman right by the gas fireplace. We were on the 14th floor, but no view, just another apartment building. There a cafe/bar in the lobby (not owned by the restaurant) but very nice and friendly and some outdoor seating as well in indoor.

Everything else was terrific.

Amazing location in the Gold Coast area. Easy walk to the L and many restaurants!!
- 5/5
We had an absolutely fab time at this hotel.
- 4/5
Friendly staff. Rooms are a bit dated. My bed squeaked quite a bit. Decent value for the money if you don’t mind being a bit north of the river.

Good

Unique location, accomidating staff and great location. I will book again here.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the lobby coffee bar/bar area- it is perfect for hanging out with your travel, companions or getting a little work done.

Very disappointed in the hotel and was expecting a higher caliber experience. We had two dogs with us but were placed in a very small, cramped room. Not exactly a “pet-friendly” hotel. No amenities for pets we have experienced in less expensive hotels. The front desk didn’t seem to care about finding a better room for us when we asked. We had to put the desk chair in the hallway so we could fit our bags and dogs in the room! The carpet was very dirty. Had lukewarm showers both days. The only positives were the friendly staff at Cal’s and sitting outside on the patio. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with pets.

Cozy, comfortable hotel in great neighborhood
- 4/5
Good location in smart area and easily walkable to City. Bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Staff welcoming. Overall a bit dated and in need of some refurbishment. But ideal for our needs and we’d stay again .

location is great

Perfect location downtown. Extremely clean. Comfortable beds
- 5/5
All good.
- 5/5
Friendly and quick check in. Thank you!
- 4/5
Solid price for what you get. I really appreciated the daily housekeeping since most places have stopped doing that. There was a stain on the carpet near the bathroom but I didn’t really mind. It would be really nice to have an easily accessible outlet by the bed since I use a CPAP. The lamps near the bed only had usb outlets.

Very nice
- 2/5
Very overpriced for what it is. The room was tiny and only comfortably fits 1 person. My partner & I could barely walk around the room when we had our suitcases opened. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows so thin we had to stack 2 to make one normal pillow. Their lamps are outdated with old usb connections that don’t work and no outlets by nightstands. The service was poor/lacking; I opted out of housekeeping during the whole stay but I called for things 3 times during my 6 nights there & they only did 1 of those things. I called for fresh towels and they never sent them, I had to go and find clean ones myself in a housekeeping closet nearby. I called for a new remote, never sent it. I had to call due to my room missing a steamer/iron and that took them almost 2 hours. The room was clean but the carpet was very dirty. I had to keep cracking the window open because it would become very muggy but it would only open about an inch & had to lodge something in there to keep it open. Overall I was expecting more for the price of a luxury hotel, at least something bigger than a child’s room.

We had a great stay

Best spot to stay in Chicago!

Staff were great. I appreciated the bottle of wine for my bday. It was perfectly located. Close to public transportation and great restaurants.
- 5/5
This stay was located in a very nice clean neighborhood. Would recommend staying here.

The staff was amazing. I got text messages on my phone to check on my stay. They would communicate quickly with text and made the trip amazing. Highly recommend

Nice property and large, clean, comfortable room. A bit loud one of the nights but not the hotel’s issue. Staff was super helpful. I’d stay again.
- 5/5
I didn’t like the urban fee 25.00 per day
- 3/5
It’s a great quiet place. It’s a few miles away from downtown but close to the lake.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 4/5
Hotel is nice and in a great location. A lot of good food in the area and easily walkable to many places including the train. Was not a fan of the beds. Very hard and not comfortable. The doors in the hotel are swollen and everyone that left there room had to slam the doors. This was loud and way to often to hear.
- 2/5
Our room was dirty and gross! The carpet had stains-some looked like blood. The lampshades were torn and the wallpaper was peeling off.
- 4/5
Great hotel, great location to Rush Street! Hallways are very small and narrow, rooms are nice but very tiny. Otherwise it was a good stay!
- 5/5
This was such a nice hotel with plenty of food options near by! Very nice stay
- 5/5
Must go
- 5/5
Parking was right next door and was very convenient .
- 5/5
You can't beat the location -- near everything but quiet. A short walk from the lakefront. Parking is hellishly expensive, but if you are willing to walk about 15 minutes you can usually find free parking on Sedgwick.
- 2/5
Everything was good but my room was not properly cleaned
- 5/5
Great location, clean with friendly staff.
- 5/5
Pet friendly. Very accommodating. Staff are nice
- 3/5
It was quite and nice

Lovely hotel and building on a tree lined street. Thanks for the free water. Walking distance to grocery stores.
- 5/5
Everyone on the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Good customer service is a rare thing these days, but the folks at the Claridge House are preserving the art.

Nice and clean place and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great with lots of restaurants and shops nearby along with many public transportation options. Overall we had a great experience!

Great stay highly recommend!!

Fantastic attentive kind staff, nice clean lobby. Great coffee drinks from the bar. Room, a Jr Suite was clean, but shows moderate but clear signs of wear. The rooms are due for a refresh, but all things considered, would definitely stay again.

Excellent choice for Chicago hotel
- 4/5
Great hotel! Clean, centrally located. Near the train. A lot of luxury shopping nearby. Clean neighborhood. A lot of cool bars and restaurants nearby. Small room but just what we needed. Bed is super squeaky and the bathroom is tight. Overall a great value. Complementary wine from 5-6 in the lobby.
- 5/5
I enjoyed everything.
- 5/5
The location is excellent!
- 5/5
Second time there. The beds could us a bit of an upgrade, but absolutely nothing else that wasn’t spot on. Look forward to staying again later in the Winter for a fireplace weekend!

HORRIBLE!! I paid for my room through Expedia and was also charged at time of check in. I was charged $188 deposit upon arrival. Every day after I was charged almost $100 to my card on file. Day 2 I was also charged $351. Everyone there kept saying they were just holds and only $56 would be charged at the end. $58 and $351 were actually charged to my card on file. In addition to the initial charge to Expedia for my stay. I also requested cleaning service both available days and they only came once. We had to raise a fuss to get them to come do a half decent job the second day. Even when we first got to our room it didn’t seem cleaned properly. Shower had hairs still in it. Bed was extremely hard. I know that is some people’s preference, just not mine. Property overall did feel clean enough and until trying to get a copy of my bill when leaving, the staff seemed friendly. There are lots of places to eat nearby and transit is also close and convenient.
- 3/5
No deal with local parking garages as well as hidden fees at check-in. The bar / coffee shop was super good the night staff not so much I went out to have a cigarette after a wedding I had changed clothes and left my key card in the suit when I went to come back in they accuse me of being someone else that matched my description and would not give me a key card to my room to get back in without having a argument. They said I matched the description of someone who went into a room with a key I had neither considering I was outside as soon as I got back and changed clothes the lady at the desk kept being rude and telling me to show what Key used to go into a different room when that was a different person. And I was at the desk only to get a another key for my room definitely will never stay here again

A very nice hotel on the Gold Coast. It's in close proximity to the best restaurants and the lake. The breakfast and lattes were delicious, the sushi place was very welcoming and fun! I highly recommend.
- 5/5
This was our third time staying here. The location is perfect for our visit. Convenient to buses and very walkable to area places of interest.
- 2/5
A drunk man walked into our room at 2 am and walked around with his phone camera looking at all our belongings. Told us to get out and he would be back in 10 minutes. The front desk woman and security were no help. Deducted $150 from our bill and told us to enjoy the rest of our stay. NO!!
- 4/5
the area around the hotel was beautiful, near dining, shopping. limited menu options for food. it is an excellent hotel for dogs, no charge for dogs. the internet was slow and spotty. they didn't advise us that we were eligible for an upgrade and I think the room we received was actually a downgrade. our check out time was noon, we couldn't receive an extension so we paid a half-day rate to stay 4 hours longer.
- 4/5
Besides parking being a absolute shake down for money it isn't to bad.

Hotel is in a good location and is attractive when you walk in. Unfortunately the rooms do not reflect the decor or ambiance in the lobby area. They are extremely basic - more like a motel - and the air conditioning is LOUD. We were also disappointed with the lack of service. We arrived with 6 large bags, 2 suitcases and back packs (my daughter was moving to Chicago so all her belongings were with us). We needed to unload from the rental car and store everything overnight, then reload in the car the next morning to take to her new apartment. We were told there was no bellhop at the hotel and no-one available to assist with luggage. We were shown a rolling cart and the storage room and left to lift and carry everything ourselves. This does not seem like it meets basic service for a hotel. The next day a hotel engineer was kind enough to help us but this was clearly not his job..During a three night stay at the hotel we were never greeted or acknowledged and when we checked out we were asked if we would like our bill emailed but not how our stay had been... The reception staff were polite but not friendly or helpful.

Requested that my room be cleaned. Never was during my 3 night stay. Would have enjoyed clean towels snd more water!

It was a great experience.

They are not honest with the price and I have never seen hotel charges for house keeping. Receptions were so rude and not friendly. I will not visit this hotel again or recommend to anyone.
