    The website photos are straight up lies. The words that come to mind for the establishment are dilapidated, dank, poorly constructed, cheap. The ‘fitness center’ consists of two treadmills and a clearly broken cable machine (the cords were loosely strewn all over), half of the ‘breakfast’ was either out of stock or out of order, and trash/ materials meant to be stored away were out and about, obstructing walkways. In my own room, the sliding shower door was improperly installed and would not remain closed, so the shower was effectively the entire bathroom. They *diluted* the hand soap with either water or another thinning agent, the wooden ‘cabinetry’ from the photos was a skeletal shelving unit purchased from some discount retailer, and the blinds meant to keep the floodlights out had no way to adjust them, as the cord had been removed/broken at some point. The best part was when the storm knocked out the power around 8:30 pm. This motel consists of two buildings- the other building’s power returned before 1 am. The building I was in never restored power, despite every other building in the area getting it back. The room and building was powerless until after I checked out the following morning. The food I bought to save money went bad, and had no way to shower/clean or charge my electronics overnight. Not exactly easy to navigate Chicago without your map available. If there were l an avenue to appeal for a refund, I absolutely would. A joke of an establishment.

    I like the price the most. I also like how nice the bathroom was. I like how much parking was available. I liked that the staff were friendly and helpful. I was not a fan of the sheets and blankets, they looked a little dirty. The pillows were all very different. Some felt like a normal pillow while others felt like it was 5 tshirts wrapped up in a pillow case.

    It was close to buses and public transportation. BEDBUGS!!!! They wouldn't give a refund even though there were BEDBUGS and the power was out in half the place- our room was one that didnt have power. They didnt ask to switch us to a better room or anything. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

    The shower pressure was good and the AC worked well. Thank goodness. The breakfast was edible. And for such a dump of a hotel it was fairly quiet at night (planes overhead to be expected, random thumping noise all night long could be drowned out with white noise) I don't know where to begin. The bed didn't even have real sheets on it. You could see the mattress. There was just a weird giant pee pad and a top sheet that didn't fit over the whole bed. We thought "this can't be right". So we asked for new sheets but we had to go get them ourselves. They gave us the same thing as a replacement. When we changed them the old mattress pad had someone else's hair on it. The tub also had someone else's hair in it. Many of the lightbulbs were missing or burnt out. The tub had mold along the caulking. No lids for the coffee cups. No WiFi. The tv didn't work. The phone didn't work. The whole room was dingy. That's all I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there was more.

    DO NOT STAY HERE. Staff do NOT care about your safety. I was given a room with multiple things broken, including the toilet seat and sink. Holes in the walls, unclean surfaces, and sheets. Most importantly, my room came with the smoke alarm detached. The exit door was blocked by debris, and the exit stairway was not lit. I felt extremely unsafe and asked to switch rooms. I was able to get a new room, but this one also lacked any fire safety equipment. Staff were unapologetic and seemed unsurprised by these issues.

    The layout felt unsafe, more like a roadside motel with doors opening directly to the parking lot. The staff member who checked us in was unprofessional and uncooperative, which only added to the frustration. Inside the room, the amenities were poorly thought out. There were makeshift steel fixtures for hanging clothes and storing luggage, giving the space a temporary, unfinished feel. For the price we paid, the amenities, condition of the property, and overall vibe were far below expectations. I would not recommend staying here given the lack of privacy, safety concerns, and the overall mismatch between the listing and reality.

    Towels were old and stain. Lights in the bathroom didn’t work we had to use the bathroom with the lights off. I brought it up to the front desk lady and all she said it was probably because of the rain and didn’t offer a different room or someone to come and fix. I asked for more towels and they showed up late.

    They Stopped putting food out well before the 10am cut off end time for breakfast, when my family went to eat at 9:25am everything was empty. "Breakfast Included" was what we paid for, they did not have enough product to feed the guests. This property advertises "soundproof rooms" and they defiantly are not. Please don't advertise soundproof if you can't deliver when you are located 2.5mi from the airport! The Air intake vent in the bathroom was filthy dusty fuzzy as if it hadn't been wiped down in months. I'm all about a cheap "NO STARS" hotel but the purposeful deactivation of my room key and cutting breakfast off early should warrant a partial refund.

    Towel rack came off the wall. A roach was crawling on the bathroom wall when I arrived. Sink kept backing up. Toilet barely flushes on the first try. No hand soap in the soap dispenser. Nor any bars of hand soap. Shower head was only a hand-held. Couldn't use the regular shower head. No smoke detector in the room. Curtain hanging off the window. Many, many spots on the wall that looked like they had been patched up, but never painted nor covered with wallpaper. Bed sunk in the middle and creaked very loudly. There were ants in the bathroom. The staff was great. I have zero complaints about the staff. I feel bad they have to work there. The property overall is poor. Needs serious maintenance and upgrades. I've stayed there several times for almost 9 years now and have never been this displeased. I will not stay there again.

    Breakfast wasnt stocked very well, 1st come 1st serve and when its gone its gone it felt like. It didnt taste good either. Sheets were strained, and the bathroom is super tiny, no counter space. Beds were decent besides the sheets. Showers had awful water pressure. Staff was polite and courteous. The seal on the mini fridge was bad, so anything we tried to keep cold, didnt stay very cold. Parking is a nightmare, due to limited space, and tight turns and oddly placed parking spots.

    There are only two reasons to choose this hotel: its low price and its location—a 10-minute walk to the city train. Other than that, it falls short in many areas: poor management, understaffing (one person seems to handle everything), lack of attention to refilling breakfast items, weak wifi, and non-standard blankets and pillows, to name a few.

    I don't know if they put me in the wrong room, but it was terrible. It smelled awful, and the room was tiny. I asked for an extra bed for my son, but they didn't provide one. There was hardly any toilet paper, no bath mat, and the bathtub was dirty. There was no hot water—though it eventually did come out—but what bothered me most was the foul odor and waking up with bumps all over my body. It isn't an expensive hotel, but it isn't cheap enough to justify such poor conditions—even though the guys at the front desk were very friendly. I didn't like anything; it was a very bad experience.

    The heater worked and kept my family warm. No toilet roll holder it was missing off the wall, no shampoo pump it was missing off the wall, no iron, no clock, no hair dryer, even though the stands were on the wall. The tv cord was very loose and kept disconnecting from my sister sleeping by it, on the torn up mattress cot bed. Had a used toilet roll and used bottles of body wash, that was covered in white substance when the product was clear in color. Very little hand soap. A huge dent by the ac/heat unit. A weird sound that went off all night. Not enough towels or washcloths even though we noted a family of 5. Smelled like weed even though its a non smoking area. Overall it felt like a Motel and not a Hotel. The set up of the room was weird as far as outlets to bed.

    Well there were quite a few things that I didn't like. The first room that we were in had sewage backing up in the bathroom on the second day the blankets are very thin, the floor was not swept all the way, there was hair stuck to one of the tables, and there was a yellow ring in the shower. The next room that we stayed in one of the beds had gum on it and the light kept flickering on and off

    Anything I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. They changed our reservation without notifying us. We originally booked a room with two queen beds, but when we arrived they only gave us a room with one bed and a sofa. The lady at the front desk was rude and not helpful at all when we tried to explain the problem. On top of that, the room was dirty and the bathroom was broken. Overall, the service and the condition of the room were unacceptable.

    The bedroom was clean and soft to sleep in the bathroom was glass through and the bathroom has 2 button to flush and drawers and a flat screen tv was nice to connect and watch news or listen to music the sink was nice very clean along the mirror and the 2 fridge was nice even though it needed one but it’s okay and lastly the coffee maker and the microwave it looks nice whenever I’m craving for coffee or teas or wanted to eat something and overall it was a great experience There was one bugs on the bed that came unexpectedly on my second night but killed it but forgot to report it to the staff about it everything else I like no complaints here

    Convenient location to train station and airport. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was good sized with dining area and equipped with all the conviences. Unfortunately the hot water was not working the night we stayed and the tub was a little cringy (not sure if I would have wanted to use it even if there had been hot water). Bed was clean and comfortable and a safe place to crash before catching an early flight.

    The two shampoo dispensers were empty and one of two soap dispensers was empty also. The towel rack was coming loose from the wall. The water in the tub trickled out very slowly. There was no smoke detector just wires protruding from the wall where it once was.

    Smoked place all over, noisy, room with out basic services like phone, fire detectors, A/C too noisy, shower door handle broke but the worse thing is not a secure place. People yelling, fighting, screaming riight outside our door and next to the office day and night. I booked 3 nights and I stayed only 1 night. I was unable to sleep thanks to the insecure conditions. Obviously manager never attended the call and no approval for my 2 nights rebate. Think twice y you book there.

    Room was nice although still dirty and sheets had a stain. The bathroom had water that flooded on the ground. Breakfast was okay but not many options. We asked for soap and they said they would bring it to our room, but never did so in the morning we asked for some and they didn’t have any (all they had was shampoo and conditioner so no body or hand soap). But other than they were fantastic and super nice.

    I had a great time there to be honest, no issues at all. From when I walked in to check-in the lady at the desk was more than helpful which was nice because I had a long trip and got into my room easily. I woke up around 8 am and the breakfast was so good I honestly got another plate of it. I traveled with my girlfriend and will be back in the future for more events. Thank you very much for the great stay. Also the beds are firm and clean!!!

    This was a motel with doors opening to the parking lot. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived late (after midnight) and there were half dozen people loitering around the parking lot, at least 3 cars with people sitting inside blasting music. Did not feel safe. The overhead lights in our room did not work - we were told to use the bedside lamps instead. The TV and phone didn't work either. We booked a queen room, but there was only a small full sized bed inside. The hotel photos on the website are incredibly misleading. Definitely would not recommend.

    Nice comfortable place. Dont expect all the bells and whistles, the rooms are pretty sparce but we just needed a place to sleep and for that it was perfect. Seemed pretty clean, and my car was safe in the lot overnight. Id look at it again if I'm back in town for another event.

    The bedding was terrible, just a very thin blanket. The TV didn’t work and did not have remote control, after asking for the remote control, they give us a wrong one, and when they finally gave us the right one, the tv didn’t work, and only have the channels from the smart tv. Also, in order to use the microwave, you have to disconnect the tv or the mini fridge. And the lighting doesn’t work in the bathroom. It was a very unpleasant experience.

    For some reason the room was very moist and damp. When we first got to our room, the bedsheets were damp to the touch. I asked for a different room, and the staff obliged very reluctantly. In the second room, things still felt damp. Later in the evening, water was dripping from the hole that was a ceiling fan in the bathroom and it wasn’t even covered with anything. I had to put down towels on the ground, to soak up the dripping water. The bathroom light kept turning off as well. I told the staff about these issues, and by the second day, they had done something to fix the dripping and the bathroom light. But the room floor had so much condensation on it that it was sticky with moisture. It was OK for us to stick with it for the two nights we were there, but this experience made us resolve to never sleep at a motel again. You really do get what you pay for. Also, at night time, the airplanes landing and taking off were so very loud.

    The walls were all damaged, the TV did not work-WHen I contacted the office, she woman came to fix it-said it was the internet-went to re-set the internet and never came back. The ice machine was broken, the water cooler in the dining area was GREEN! There were sex-workers coming out of the rooms and people smoking right outside my door. Terrible expereince.

    It was great. I lost my key card twice i was given a new one both times. I would like to mention someone was at the desk each time i went whether it 9am or 2am. Staff is great.     The room was spacious and looked clean and modern. We coundnt figure out ehy we didnt have cold water in the sink, and the soap dispenser wouldnt dispense. We told a staff member about our concerns and the problem with the water wasnt looked at. They gave us some courtesy soaps to counter the broken dispenser. My husband found on the second day that someone had just turned off the cold valve under the sink, but it was disapointing that no one seemed to help us with this. We also found a hair tie in the soap dispenser. It was nice to have the courtesy breakfast. It was simple but good.

    The photos of the hotel are misleading. The hotel is really just a painted run down motel with remodeled bathrooms. The beds had someone’s hair all over the pillows and linen. The bathroom light constantly flashed on and off even after I requested the light to be repaired. I requested fresh towels and some man with no form of identification came to my door and said “these are all the towels we have for tonight.” and a joke about how flimsy the door to my room was. This place is fine for someone who has no place to stay or just wants to take a hooker for a night. It’s definitely not for a family looking to spend some vacation time in Chicago. I was just looking for a regular hotel to stay for a couple of days. Instead I was embarrassed to have my family stay in a place my son referred to as a “0 star hotel”. Remove the Carlton Inn from your website

    You need to remove this location as an option to reserve from your site. I trusted Hotels.com when this affordable hotel came up, however it is extremely UNSAFE.     While the staff was actually helpful, the company should be ashamed of themselves for the deceiving photos that are on the site. Nothing looked anything like the photos we viewed. My partner and I thought we would be pulling up to a small hotel based on not only the photos but the price. We could have stayed at a Holiday Inn for the price. But what we got was a cheap motel experience. A Motel 6 would have been more updated and tidy. It made do for the 2 nights we stayed there before our Air bnb. But this place is not as appears in photos AT ALL.

    The property was loud and did not feel welcoming. Another family tried to enter my room at 1:30am in the morning because they were given the same room. Then the manager knocked at the door asking how I entered the room and when I presented the key I received at the desk he apologized and explained that my stay had not been entered into their books. In the morning I had to wake the manager to drive us in the shuttle to the airport.

    Cons: in need of some serious room work. Bathroom door looked like someone had locked a dog inside that had absolutely scratched and chewed it up. Blind was missing a chunk out of it and I had to hang a piece of clothing over it so no one could look in. Thin blankets with cigarette burns. Tiny flat pillows. Shower leaked to the bathroom floor. Truly should not have cost that much to stay there. Overall, not the worst but just a place to lay your head.

    I was very disappointed. The best I could say is that my room was clean and functional. Many things were in in disrepair. The lights would not turn when using the switch by the door. The bathroom sink fixture was separated from the counter and literally hanging down into the sink. The wardrobe looked like it was put there in the 1970s. The TV remote turned on the TV but was unable to control being up the channel guide, effectively making the TV useless. I was looking forward to a hot breakfast, but was disappointed to find out that the sausage and potatoes were cold, and that the eggs were not even there (the clerk told me that they would be there in a few minutes, but 20 minutes later they were still not there). In the past I've had very good experiences at this hotel, but not this trip.

    Pulled into the driveway and was immediately confused because what was online was not what I pulled up to. I got my keys and went to park my car and while doing that some little lady outside looking on the ground everywhere for drugs. I parked my car and went into the room floor was dirty bathroom had hair everywhere shower, floor, sink and toilet. I will not get started on the linens, photos speak for themselves. Do not stay here I checked out about 30 minutes later and I didn’t receive all my money. They charged me for a whole night and what I paid for was not worth it.

    I did like the free breakfast included, but there was no eggs provided while I stayed there. Out of the three front desk people I encountered one of them was very nice warm and friendly. The other two were the opposite very cold and not friendly at all. The room did have an odor of cigarettes which went away after our second night but it's still there. The chairs in the room for the table are wobbly and in on the verge of breaking. I did like the room service they provided they did what I requested giving you towels and clean the room. It was a last minute stay due to my apartment having to have work done.

    Having stayed here many times in the preceding years, I was disappointed to find the condition of the property had diminished. The phone in my room didn't work; apparently they've disabled in-room phone service completely, so no wake up calls. However, as they've removed all the instructions to use the phone, I couldn't turn off the flashing red light that indicated a waiting voice message. Worse yet, they removed the clock radio, which used to be a standard feature. I would have used that for a back-up alarm. Not all the lights in the room worked. There were only 3 hangars in the room to hang up my clothes for the overnight stay. on top of all that, the refrigerator in the room had a broken door which wouldn't close completely. Therefore it ran constantly (for who knows how long) and made weird noises that kept me awake. I finally had to unplug the refrigerator so I could get to sleep, as I had to leave around 4:30 am. Not what I expected.
