The best place I’ve stayed in Chicago

Hotel was kept an excellent condition. Room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Located in a great area with lots of restaurant choices. The lounge area had iced water 24/7. Coffee and tea were available during the morning and the day. Only water was available at night. There was an ice maker and single vending machine which only offered a few drinks. I wouldn't advise bringing snacks if you have late night munchies. The room did have the small coffee maker with tea packets. Not really a fan of those though.

Great location. We took the train from the airport and our stop was a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The staff were very helpful --every person on staff we interacted was friendly and helpful.

Clean rooms. Nice staff. Updated interiors. General location. Pillows were too bunched up. Gave me headaches. I need flat or contoured pillows. That's my only complaint. Oh, the water control handle in the shower very difficult to use. Tight to turn and not very logical to use.

Overall had a very comfortable stay. We enjoyed our room, which was quite large and comfortable. A little noisy with our window facing the alley. The first doorman we interacted with was absolutely delightful and so helpful. Unfortunately the other shift was covered by a somewhat surly and very unhelpful staff member. Front desk staff was pleasant. The cafe connected to the hotel had very good food with a huge menu and reasonable prices. Overall, it was a solid hotel in a great location with a very good price.

It is located in a convenient location. The accommodation is clean and well-equipped with everything you need. Above all, the staff were very friendly, which made my stay enjoyable.

However, there are a few drawbacks: 1. The shower design is somewhat inconvenient. The shower hose is concealed, and there is no handheld showerhead available. 2. If you need to shorten your stay, the hotel does not provide refunds for unused nights (approximately $200–300 per night), even when advance notice is given. 3. The area can be quite noisy due to nearby construction work and the frequent sirens from emergency vehicles, particularly fire engines. 4. There is no complimentary drinking water available in the room. Overall, while the location and service are good, these issues may affect the comfort of your stay.

No room service or restaurant in the hotel itself but multiple excellent restaurant selections nearby. The room was great - the sheets were a bit rough is my only complaint. Everything else was perfect! Large room that was clean, well maintained, up to date, and nicely decorated.

Check was fast and easy and everyone was very nice and helpful during the whole process.

It’s was in an excellent location, near Grant park, city centre and also the metro. The room was spacious, with high ceilings. Blackout curtains, and large tv. Equipped with microwave, fridge and coffee machine. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Could hear what was going on outside all night long. There was no slippers available, so had to purchase some.

The room was large with high ceilings. The decor was interesting and bed was super comfortable. We had an issue with the fridge which they promptly came to replace. The fitness center was clean and well maintained, although I would have preferred a stationary bike. The pictures had one but it was removed prior to my stay. I used the elliptical instead. The complimentary coffee was appreciated, but we don’t do the non-dairy creamers and there was no milk/half-and-half. We don’t use the valet because it was too expensive, but plenty of parking a short walk away. Overall it was a great stay.

Overall comfortable stay and easy access by walk to downtown and all other places in the city.

Good rooms, close to the city center entertainments, buisness district and Union station. Inadequate peoples under adiction and drugs sellers in the streets. But this is no hotels, but the city problem.

A great location for my purposes in Chicago. The mini fridge and microwave were very useful. The bed was extremely comfortable. I liked the winged upholstered headboard for reading in bed. The staff was very attentive.

Everybody was friendly especially for those whose first it was in Chicago. We loved our room!

Hotel Blake is located right off of the train to O'Hare. The property is beautiful and the rooms are very large and clean. The sheets and pillows were 10/10.

All of the staff were super helpful and responsive to our requests. The cleanliness of the hotel and our room was immaculate. We were in town for a graduation and the whole front lobby staff was so kind and congratulating our graduate. The valet service was a life saver and well worth the fees.

Easy to get to bus lines & trains. All with-in a short walk. Places near by to eat or pick up a snack. (7-11/CVS/Gas station) The room was clean and nicely stocked. Housekeepers were also friendly. Room (6th floor) was quite and heat/AC worked fine. (I like a fan running all night) Everything in the room work just fine and no issues. Hot water was quick. Bed was fine and we slept well.

One thing I truly appreciated was how attentive the staff was to every little need. I drink a lot of water and didn’t bring any with me, and they gladly provided complimentary bottles of water with no hesitation. My husband forgot his toothbrush, and instead of just giving us one, they brought us two toothbrushes right away. It’s the small thoughtful touches like that that really make a stay memorable. Anything we needed, they were there to help immediately with kindness and professionalism. Amazing hospitality, amazing experience, and I would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

A very beautiful property just not the cleanest for the amount they want to charge. I'm thankful in the type of person that cleans every hotel before I stay or I wouldn't have been able to stay there at all. The amount of mold/mildew in the bathroom should definitely be addressed as their cleaning team definitely needs more training on basic cleaning methods. Other than the bathroom the rest of the hotel was clean and the staff definitely made up for the lack. I felt welcomed from getting out of the vehicle from the doorman and bellhop to all the front desk staff! For that alone I would definitely stay here again.

This was our first time staying at the Blake. The staff was so helpful and considerate. They were sure to ask if we had plans for the day/evening and if we had picked a place to eat everything we left the hotel and every time we returned they asked if we had enjoyed our outing/meal. I would definitely book there again.

It was good. Kind of an old hotel but kept well enough. The stairs are too narrow though.

Pros: Early check-in was accommodated after our flight was rescheduled. Staff were very friendly and offered helpful restaurant recommendations. Complimentary lemon water, tea, and coffee were available in the mornings. Elevators were fast with little-to-no wait times. Cons: The room felt small for two people, especially for working, with only one desk/chair and one armchair. The blue walls and the hallway lighting made the room feel dim. The light was also positioned in a way that it shined uncomfortably toward the bed. We had concerns with cleanliness, including an open condom wrapper between the bed and nightstand, stains on the bedsheets, and residue in the trash bins. We experienced some skin irritation while sleeping, possibly due to the laundry detergent used. This was resolved when sleeping without any exposed skin.

The shower heads were fancy but not very sufficient. Just 6 water holes doesn't really do the job in the shower

Very close to some restaurants, convenience stores, and not too far of a walk from popular places such as Millennium Park or the Auditorium Theatre. Overall a great stay for a much better price than many of the other hotels nearby

I will definitely stay at Hotel Blake again! The staff was super friendly, especially David, who checked us in at 4 a.m. after our flight was delayed 8 hours. The room was surprisingly big and pretty quiet for a Loop hotel, the decor is beautiful, the bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was sparkly clean. I can see why this hotel gets so many great reviews-- it's awesome!

The rooms are beautiful and large, newly renovated it seems. Staff were very personable and let me check in early because they had a room available. The location of the hotel is perfect, near the Institute of Art, the beautiful Marshall Fields building, lots of shopping on State Street, near Millennium Park and Grant Park. I would definitely stay here when visiting Chicago again!

We had an excellent day in Chicago for my son 17th birthday. The staff was incredible. I was hoping we could get upgraded to a double bed room and they work their magic to make it happen. I can’t say enough about this place and about the staff. Definitely going to be somewhere I stay again.

Comfortable beds

Great hotel for the price. Our room was clean, had a comfy bed, and was quite large with a king size bed. There were limited ammenities at the hotel, but good food and coffee was a quick walk away. We really enjoyed the Jazz Showcase (2 blocks) and the neighborhood wine bar (2 blocks).

There is a lot of noise at night from ambulances and loud cars, but that is to be expected in any part of the city. The hotel staff was very welcoming and made great recommendations for places to try. There is also always someone at the front entrance to watch who comes in and out, which helped us feel secure. Overall a great stay!

Location is near buses and train if you want to take public transport. Staff is friendly, they have tea and coffee every morning. We were there when they had the shamrock shuffle run and they gave out some mini cliff bars which was a nice touch. Room was clean, our room faced the side of the ATT building so no view to speak of. Main downside is the noise. You can hear garbage trucks collecting trash at 11:30PM-12am and every time an ambulance or fire truck drove by. I have my own ear plugs but they do provide them as well. Would overall recommend.

No water bottles in the room. No soundproof windows installed where all the street traffic noise can easily sound penetration. No breakfast included. Hidden fees of $129.35 will apply to your credit card and $100 additional deposit fees. The cafe food is very much average and nothing delicious.

When you check in and being ask to pay deposit fees do not pay them with any of your credits or any other cards but only cash instead. Once I gave them my credit card without personal permission I’ve been charged additional unauthorizes hidden fees of $129.35 with no any other of explanation. When I confronted them about overcharges I’ve been promised to receive a full refund however 5 days later the refund never been submitted.

Hotel was in a great location and staff were nice. Nor many amenities were offered though. They had no bottled water to buy, no area to buy snacks or items you might need (ibuprofen, toothbrush, tampons). Rooms were clean but art decor was cheap and tacky. No decaf coffee in the rooms, no guide on the tv remotes.

Turns out Dearborn St is the main bike lane for downtown Chicago. Get on an e-bike or e-scooter and head North. No better way to see Chicago architecture up close.

Clean, updated room - king bed room was very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Outside noise was quiet - very convenient to UIC as well as all downtown areas. Easy access to highway. Cafe attached to hotel was good also. Would recommend and stay again.

However, this stay was very disappointing. First, I felt that I was subjected to racial discrimination by the valet parking attendant. The interaction made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. I would be willing to provide further details if necessary. In addition, the housekeeping service did not meet reasonable standards. Although I left tips of approximately $5 to $10 each day for housekeeping, the cups in the room were not properly cleaned, and the area underneath the toilet remained visibly dirty on multiple occasions. Given how positive my previous experience was, this contrast was particularly disappointing.

I had a great big room that was as clean as they come. The staff was really nice. Free coffee in the morning in addition to the stuff in the room. The fridge was a little bigger than most hotel rooms I've been in.

Bringing wrong car from valet extended our wait to 30 minutes and there’s three valet workers we saw. Loved the room and staff though.

The room was one of the biggest I've ever stayed in. It had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and curtains that open automatically. The bathroom was pretty fancy too. Everything was super clean and the staff really nice.

Housekeeping staff was incredibly attentive

Our experience was alright, I believe it could have been better. When checked in, we were charged an extra $100. We didn’t know why and had to come back and ask, we were told the reason by for the extra charge by a different personnel, knowing that from the start would have been great. Housekeeping on our first morning at the hotel didn’t come back to clean our room. On the morning we had left a DO NOT DISTURB sign out but before leaving for the rest of the day we removed that sign and no one in housekeeping came back to clean the room. The front staff who checked us out were moderately helpful, they didn’t ask about our stay or experience. We had to wait 3 minutes to be checked out because no one was there attending the front desk. I’m not sure if they remove all shampoo, conditioner and body wash products out of bottles after each tenant stays but ours seemed like they hadn’t been replaced.

Night reservation man was very rude to my husband. Did not treat with respect to someone not familiar with the area. Needed to buy eye solution and was unfamiliar with the 7-11 after hours service. Night reservation man did not help at all and was very cold to my husband. Eric was great and the doormen were great. Stay was comfortable however both rooms were very hot even though we turned the thermostat down to accommodate. Maybe leave instructions on how to make sure rooms do not burn up during winter months. Our room was not cleaned our second day of stay. Not sure why but we had to reuse dirty towels. Still enjoyed our stay but will most likely stay somewhere else next time.

The room had exactly what we needed. The bed was comfortable, the pillows (I like 'em fluffy) were what we wanted/needed and the 'appointments' were great! We also appreciated the ability to set the thermostat to a temperature that suits us when we sleep (we like the cooler side). The restaurant associated with the Blake was tasty and perfect for breakfast and the bill ($) was what we anticipated. My husband's sons/my step sons live in Chicago and when we return, we will definitely stay at the Blake.

Very friendly staff. Showtime always had tips for places to eat or visit. The hotel was clean. I arrived early and my room was available for check in. It was located in a easily accessible area. I walked everywhere. I only caught an ride when I was too tired to walk. It's close to the public transportation - the L, bus, train, etc. I felt very safe and I was a solo female traveler. I would definitely stay again.

The room was spacious and lovely. We loved the decide that pays hommage to the history of the area. The bathroom was lovely with a big shower and nice decor. The only hiccup was all of the construction in front of their entrance, but that can hardly be helped. Tha KS for a great stay!

Michael and Showtime helped with my bags. I remembered them both from my previous stay - their hospitality was one of the reasons I returned and why I will continue to do so. Five stars! Meli Cafe was great for breakfast both mornings of my quick trip; generous portions at reasonable price; quietly attentive and outstanding service. Five stars!

This is my favorite hotel to stay at while in Chicago. The staff is amazing and the room is just perfect!

The bathroom was clean, if you notice white substance around the sinks and shower head, it is just hard water. Nothing to be alarmed about. The room is very clean and the view from the window is very nice. The room is not sound proof from the outside noises like emergency vehicle sirens or car horns, but they do have new ear plugs on the side of the bed if needed. Overall, amazing stay and it is close to most things within the city.

The beds were comfortable, I really don't have any complaints. Being a few blocks off Michigan Avenue wasn't too bad. Also, pretty quiet inside considering where the hotel is.

Good stay. My room had a comfortable bed, and the staff overall were friendly and helpful. A shout out to Eric at the front desk. Mini fridge, microwave, and a safe in the room. Relatively close to a couple of CTA stations and pretty central.

We had no heat in our room, when we called the staff they told us they could do nothing. They did end up telling us we would get a refund but unsure if we will actually receive it

The staff was so welcoming and helpful. They offered numerous suggestions for area dining and activities. The bellhops were terrific and the coffee bar was fresh. There were some stains on the edge of the bedding but otherwise everything else was pretty good. Entrance area had construction going on but that was fine. Room was a little hot first night because it happened to get so warm out for November and AC’s weren’t on but they did offer fans.

The bellman, Showtime, and front desk, Alex were fantastic. Showtime gave full explanation of room and layout, responded with many option to my query about restaurants. During the efficient and smooth checkin, Alex said he would follow up by text so I would have 24/7 ability to contact front desk with questions and concerns. He did exactly as promised. He was good as his word, answering questions promptly no matter what time. As did others at the front desk if Alex was off duty. It was my first time in Chicago and these two made my solo travel welcoming and safe. No to mention, Meli’s Cafe next door and Gino’s East Pizza across the street.

Our room had a smell..don’t know what it was, they tried to fix it promptly. It was in a safe area, it’s very very clean. Walkable to lots of places. Showtime, the doorman told us directions to all of the places to see. We had a good time. Everyone was extremely nice! I would stay here again! And it was safe!

This was our 2nd stay here. Nice size rooms. Staff is friendly. Don’t like the shower head. Can be noisy if you’re on the street side.

It was kind of hard to find the entrance upon arrival due to the scaffolding near the doors (construction). The front desk staff was extremely friendly.

It’s important for people who are planning on staying there that there is no bar and no restaurant inside the property. There was a restaurant attached to the hotel that served only breakfast and lunch. No dinner. This was somewhat disappointing.

Our stay at Hotel Blake was very nice! The staff were very accommodating and kind. This was our first trip to Chicago and it was a great time. We arrived early to the hotel due to an early flight and we were lucky enough to have a room ready instead of waiting until check in time. The room was nice and big which my partner and I enjoyed. Our room did face the street so there were moments where sirens were loud but nothing more than we expected staying in the city. The room was mostly clean but there were parts of the room that had dust (mainly in the bathroom) when we arrived but the housekeeper kept us stocked with towels and was very attentive during our stay. The outside was under construction but the inside was still very beautiful. Very walkable location (subway lines very close to the hotel as well!) kind staff, and nice to look at! We would definitely come again. :)

Hotel Blake is a fantastic option when staying in the Loop in downtown Chicago. Great location within the city and close proximity to all the train lines. Staff was super kind and helpful. Room was great, no complaints at all. Surprisingly good coffee available for guests each morning. Would definitely stay here again!

Historic hotel (If the walls could speak!) in downtown Chicago. A short walk to the Art Institute. Great diner connected to the hotel. Fun nooks and crannies where you can sit and chat.

My favorite place to stay in Chicago! Amazing access to transportation, food, culture. Hotel has a unique feel and great staff. Some construction during my stay, but old buildings need maintenance, and I was unaffected by noise.

I really enjoyed my stay. Everyone was so friendly and for the price, the location was a plus. I was in walking distance of several sightseeing spots, and some good restaurants around. The room itself was cozy and clean. I highly recommend this gem for any first time visitors.

Even though the hotel was under construction, in some areas, it was easily accessible. The staff was above and beyond kind and thoughtful. The rooms were nice and clean. I have no complaints about our stay, in fact I would highlyrecommend!

Al was amazing! When we checked in, he asked why we were traveling and we shared that we were in town for my 20th HS reunion, as well as our wedding anniversary. He brought us chocolates, a card, and a bottle of wine! So sweet! Everything about our stay was great, from the location of the hotel to the service from all staff members, to the comfy bed and nice finishes. We will absolutely visit again!

Had a great room on the 6th floor. I have a bad back and have a zero gravity bed at home. Unfortunately I can’t bring my bed with me. But I slept like a dream in the bed we had. Nice cafe attached that we had breakfast at the following morning. Check in, check out and valet parking was super easy. We will definitely stay again on our next visit to Chicago.

Easy walka. Room was spacious and clean

Staff and concierge were wonderful. Valet parking was friendly and very fast. The property is modern, very clean, and walking distance to South Loop, Grant Park, museums, etc.

The hotel and staff were amazing! My room was very clean and even though I would have the “do not disturb” sign out until I was ready to leave for the day, sometimes not til noon, my room was always clean when I got back. Only thing I didn’t like was the construction site at the front, it was hard to find the hotel my first night getting there and wasn’t visually pleasing. But there was a notice of construction when I booked, just didn’t realize it was right out front. I wish there were more options for dining in the area as the adjacent restaurant closes at 3pm and I wish there was a notice that the “bar” that the booking site says the hotel has is part of that restaurant that closes at 3pm. For a solo female traveler the area around the hotel didn’t always feel the safest when walking to get food or to the store but that’s not on the hotel. Overall my stay was great!

It was a nice property. The staff was excellent and it was very conveniently located by the lake, trains and downtown. The room was a little musty but it was really nice. As it is in any location in that area of Chicago, it is pretty noisy, but earplugs really help.

The staff, location and comfort of the bed makes this one of better places to stay in Chicago. We loved every moment of our stay! Highly recommend this beautiful hotel to stay within walking distance of all the things, but to be far away enough from the crowded areas. Also highly recommend the wine and beer bar up the street! It has great outdoor seating and great vibes overall.

Tim checked me in at the front desk and he was helpful, friendly, and made the process easy. We were greeted by a staff person pretty much any time we entered or exited the hotel. The room was clean and beautiful, the bed comfy. The location was great for walking downtown. The only downsides were the construction in front of the hotel (temporary) and the quite loud air conditioner (although the loud AC helped drown out street noise). Wonderful stay overall and would stay again the next time I’m in Chicago.

Friendly staff, valet parking was so worth it. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Didn’t love the rain shower head- too little water pressure. It was loud at night- a live band was playing nearby til after 11pm plus traffic noise- but I’m attributing that to a music festival that was happening. Would definitely stay there again.

What a great find! The Blake was amazing! The Staff were very helpful, the location in the South Loop is ideal for exploring Chicago. Walking distance from the Blue Line train from O'hare. I had a King Room and it was HUGE!! And all re-done.... I will stay here the next time I am in Chicago for sure.

Property was okay. The AC had a hard time keeping up in the room due to the extreme heat. Rooms were quiet and spacious. Layout of the toilet to the shower was very inconvenient. Had a huge building outside of window. It was decent if you can get it at a good price but it wasn't worth spending a lot of money, unless for comviience. Large fridge with freezer was a plus.

The hotel staff was excellent. They were friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and coupons and everything else. Our room was clean and great to get some work done as well as relaxing. And the gym was a nice plus since it rained on the day I needed to train for an upcoming race.

This is a hidden gem. Room was spacious, updated, and clean. So easy to walk within the loop. I’d stay there next time I’m in town.

We loved our stay at the Blake Hotel! The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice, and the hotel is convenient to many of the Chicago attractions. It seems to be far enough off the main roads to be quiet and safe. I felt completely safe walking around at night. There's a CVS and 7/11 convenience store that are both within a 2-3 blocks.

I liked everything about this Hotel, friendly staff conveniently located, great eating places we were able to walk to restaurants at night. They thought of everything each room has something so simple as an umbrella for use (I have never seen a hotel provide umbrellas. and we needed it!).
