my flight was delayed and cancelled for one day I get to charlitted the same day so flew the 16 and left Charlottesville the same day I don’t have no clue how Inside Holiday inn looks like I should have credit for it I paid insurance for my flight and i didn’t get any incentive I went to the airport on Friday i day and United sent me home and booked me a flight for saturday morning

The staff was absolutely amazing!! Very friendly and helpful!! Everyone was so helpful. Even the guy that came in to clean up in the morning went back and got some coffee creamer for us. He didn't tell someone else he just did it!! Very impressed by the staff!! The only thing we didn't like has nothing to do with the business.

The only thing we didn't like has nothing to do with the business.? The traffic is horrible around the place and we were told you can't make a left turn. So we have to turn right and go down the road and turn around. That's just a waste of time.

That said, the staff was excellent in helping us.

My only issue with the hotel was the balcony door wouldn’t lock and I didn’t report it until check out because I didn’t wanna bring attention to it. I’m not saying anything about the staff but the hotel was booked out and if we weren’t able to change rooms, I didn’t want anybody to know that the door was broken and couldn’t lock . I felt unsafe and didn’t get much rest at night

A very good stay

Halls were dark and dingy. Room was also dark with musty smell. Gym was dirty with bugs and seem to have not been cleaned in a while.

Breakfast is self-service like most restaurants, but there is NOT a restaurant. There is what looks like a bar with hours posted, but it wasn't open once. I even confirmed with hotel staff. There is no restaurant on site.

I’ve never had a hotel where the front desk person recognized me from a previous stay!! She was awesome!!

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Parking was plentiful and well lit. The hotel is located in a prime spot with lots of food and shopping options. The property is older and this is evident in the rooms, such as cracks and missing grout. The pool is not heated and was very cold.

Parking was easy, and the hotel is close to the walking mall area and UVA Medical Center.

Parking was easy and available. Check in was not so good. The hotel has a sign and on their website that states check-in is 3pm. We arrived at 4pm and they did not have a room for us nor could they even check us in. Three other customers were also told to wait for a room. They would not offer us a different room. We had to wait in the lobby until we reapproached the desk to check again on if a room was available. It was very inefficient and frustrating.

The bed was comfortable. The hotel was fairly convenient. There was free breakfast. There was mold in the tub, there were loud partying guests at 7 in the morning near our room. We were tired from travel and intended to sleep in. We called the front desk and eventually maybe another 30 minutes they stopped the loud partying.The breakfast was sub standard.

A fine stay was had by all.

The room and overall hotel spaces were clean and well kept. There is ample parking and the location is convenient.

Well, after checking in, I was initially assigned a room where the sheets contained lots of hair, which to me looked like pubic hair. I typically inspect the bedding immediately upon entering a room, and this particular instance was quite disgusting. However, the front desk attendant was exceptionally helpful and promptly swiched me to a room directly across the hall, which fortunately had clean sheets. Overall, the room was quite adequate for a one-night stay.

This was my 3rd time staying at this property. Overall, satisfied with customer service, cleanliness, and proximity to UVA. Staff was great from the time we checked in to time we checked out. Great stay.

Staff was very nice, but I booked the room cause the site said it had a bar and restaurant and that is false. Staff admitted that it had been a good while since the bar/restaurant was open. Honestly i wouldn't have booked it if i would have known that.

Our bedroom balcony door didn’t lock, the pool heater was broken our entire stay, the bar is out of service and no longer stocked or used by the hotel, the lighting in the bathroom was great- the bedroom terrible, the gym had some missing weights but had a bench and three treadmills- the water jug was empty in the gym. The best thing was the waffles and other complimentary breakfast.

Parking was easy. That’s where it ends. Cleanliness is very important to me, and this place lacks that for sure. Dog hair throughout my room, bathroom not the cleanest. I honestly can elaborate more, and this property lacked that, so I’ll leave it there.

I choose hotels that have breakfast included. This has it included. When I went to breakfast they said no breakfast because the oven broke. Kind of a funny answer when they did not have juice,bagels or other things that did not require cooking. They had some cereal there and we had to ask for milk and hunt for spoons on our own. In my opinion, no one showed up for work and they used a lame excuse, no apologies or anything. I had a 2 night stay. The second day I had to leave before the breakfast hour so I have no idea if they had breakfast that day. However I went to get coffee to go and it was cold. If you are not having breakfast then don’t advertise that you do. Many of us pick places based on what they provide and when they don’t come through it is upsetting. I took my family to breakfast at a restaurant and spent 60 dollars which I did not plan for. This hotel is doing a disservice to holiday inn’s

Old building with cheaper upgrades in rooms but bed was very comfortable and shower was hot. There appeared to be a good breakfast which we passed on. Easy access to downtown.

My main complaint was the pool wasnt working. I had 2 children and we planned on spending time there, we were never told by the staff, even during reservation making.

I am a regular here and it is always spectacular

The staff was super nice and accommodated us well around our needs to have allergen-free rooms. The beds were really comfortable, the rooms spacious, everything clean. There was too much plastic on the breakfast buffet- It'd be great to have paper coffee cups and plates, to reduce the use of styrofoam. Silverware might be a bit much to ask! And chopped fruits, nuts with a vat of oatmeal would be a good addition.

Are stay started all out. Okay, then our last day, we had our continental breakfast. And we got to meet one of the staff that takes care of the breakfast cleaning, making sure people flip their waffles. And whatnot extremely rude character, extremely rude, not a good representation of the facility. Whatsoever, we've decided not to take further action against this employee. Rather document and let people form their own opinion on this particular individual.

This is a much older property needs quite a bit of work, but overall it wasn’t too bad. The mattresses in 609 need to be replaced. They need to do a little bit better job on cleaning the bathrooms, but the staff go over and beyond their call of duty.

I picked this location because of the restaurant. I was exhausted from driving and did not want to travel for dinner. On arrival I was informed the restaurant has been closed for some time. Your web page needs to be updated. I secured the room through Hotels.com.

The false advertisement! Key cards didn't work and were not returned to me for hours. Absolutely no security on the door(I wish I could send you the picture!) Hotel desk staff not friendly at all and very slow. Extreme disgust caused early check out!

Front door was locked when we arrived. Waited 8 minutes for someone to let us into the lobby. No apology. No I’m sorry. Just argued that I was wrong - I didn’t wait that long - he wasn’t gone that long. I disagreed and said I did indeed wait 8 minutes. He threatened to cancel my reservation because I was disrespecting him!! Entered room finally. It was dark. Only switch just turned on light at door. Room was DARK. No switch to light up room. Had to fumble around in dark to find a light and grope to find a switch. Couldn’t find it on first two lights. Finally used phone light to find a switch! Bathroom only had one switch for all lights but no fan to remove toilet odors

The room itself looked fine, good size, and it’s always a plus to have a refrigerator and microwave. However, we had to get the bathroom sink repaired because it was clogging. The maintenance person came quickly, thankfully. Main complaint about the room is the uncomfortable bed — too hard and the pillows too soft. No support at all. Hot breakfast available.

Room and lobby were clean and tidy. Definitely need updates in the room. Bubbling old wallpaper, old carpet, bed frame material sagging and torn. Bed was comfortable. Nice love seat to sit on. Bathroom very clean and updated. Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast area was not kept clean and food was cold at 8:30am. Decent variety of foods. Easy free parking. Ice machine not working on our floor. Overall good and comfortable for the price. Also had everything you need in the bathroom. Dove soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in multi use pump bottles. Not small samples. Also room was cleaned and bed made every day which never seems to happen in hotels anymore!

We booked two rooms for two nights. We were given rooms on the second floor, which is a level below the lobby level (3rd). Both rooms had windows but perhaps due to proximity to the ground level, the room initially smelled slightly like dog and the room felt damp. Rust on nickel finish surfaces and moldy spots on the wall are another sign of moisture in the air. A/C filter could use cleaning. In one room, we had a fire detector go off around 5 am probably due to low battery. The technician came and removed it all together. Breakfast started at 7 am, FYI.

The location is good. No bar even though it is advertised. Pool area was dark and damp and the small fitness room was a sauna it was so hot. Rooms were fine for our one night stay.

Terrible, never again. I reserved a room for my son to spend a night before UVA open house and payed for it. When my son arrived to the hotel he was informed that he is not allowed to check in because he is 18 (below 21 years old). The reservation was not refundable, so I lost the money I paid. I was abroad at the moment. It took me half of an hour of long distance calling in the middle of a night (because of time difference) to find a hotel in the area for my son. It turned out to be Double Tree by Hilton, thank you Hilton. From now on I will try to avoid Holiday Inns in my travel. It is my policy to avoid hotels with stupid policies. You can cancel my IHG membership. If someone decides to start a class action law suite against IHG for discrimination of certain group of customers I will be glad to join it to make you guys bleed money and think twice before creating stupid medeival policies. Farewell IHG, I hope never see you again.

The room was nice, bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. The ice machine in the 7th floor was broken my entire trip. Also had to be at the job site by 6am so we never got to eat from the breakfast. Would be nice if they buy out some fruit or pastries for us to grab on the way out in the morning.

Everything was great, other than the fact that they kept a hold on my credit card for a month before finally running the $10.50 incidentals and releasing the hold making the rest of my money available again.

We required a walk in shower, so it was a little disconcerting that there were no grab bars in the shower, as being unsteady on my feet I risk falling in a slippery shower with nowhere to grab.

When I booked the property it stated that there was a restaurant on site and I paid for two made to order breakfasts. The on site restaurant is closed and a continental breakfast was offered to all patrons so I feel cheated for paying for made to order breakfast.

I understand not expecting a rush of folks on a random Tuesday, but to put us in an uncleaned room was a…unique experience. Thankfully we were moved when I told them about this but our new room still had trash in plain sight under the fridge. I thought Ill take what I can get. The hallway leading to our room also smelled like straight up toilets. I chalked it up to the numerous cleaning carts laying around during the day but it persisted into the evening. Other than these inconveniences, it worked for what we needed. The beds weren’t great but they worked, the bathroom was clean, and the ac worked. Thats more than some places can say. Its also in a great location, which honestly is the real reason we chose the place. You can walk to an outdoor mall, several restaurants and coffee shops, and its walking distance to JPJ arena (shout out Billy Strings). This certainly isnt the worst place Ive ever stayed at but honestly its the worst Holiday Inn I've been too. Overall, it wasnt the best stay Ive ever had, and Im likely to shop around for our next Cville trip, but it was fine. Just fine. Nothing more, and almost a little less.

The room reeked of pets and probably urine on the carpet. I requested for another room, the staff said they are fully booked. They did not seem interested at all and just kept us waiting at the front desk for 10min while attending phone calls. It was hard to breathe and the kids had to take allergy medication. Never coming back here.

Checkin was slow but everything else was great. Turning rooms over too slow to have them ready FOR 3PM checkin. Long lines due to concert at JPJ.

We arrived on Friday for the weekend - TV in the room would not work; they did come and fix it. Website says there is a restaurant and bar onsite - NOT! Did not get any housekeeping on Saturday. Called before going out at 4:30pm that we needed housekeeping - dump trash, give us NEW towels and Toilet Paper. Came back from a concert at midnight and housekeeping still hadn't been there. Called Guest Services and complained they finally brought us up 2 towels and a roll of toilet paper. AWFUL Experience will never stay here again.

We stayed here after a concert at JPJ Arena. Location was perfect, property was clean and staff was friendly. We’d definitely stay here again.

One of my favorite hotels to stay at in Charlottesville for the price. Kind staff, great location, CLEAN, QUIET & COMFORTABLE ROOMS. BONUS: They now offer free breakfast instead of the additional cost restaurant!

It’s very dirty

The breakfast was not well managed/maintained. Seemed like they threw a mass of food out and then didn’t think they should have to replenish it. Other places, put some out and refill as it gets low; so that the food doesn;t get over cooked, stuck together or soggy. Otherwise, it is a pleasant stay.

A fine place to stay for a few nights while we had family at IVA hospital. Clean, comfortable place and service was very friendly.

The staff was friendly and made our visit for a UVA hospital appointment. Much more pleasant. The beds were super comfy as well! Great experience for the price.

Needs updating!

Very nice hotel. Lobby was nice, the breakfast was nice, and the room size was really good. Very quiet rooms, and a great location.

The hotel was nice, but the entrance into the hotel parking lot was scary-especially in the late afternoon rush hour when we arrived. Not in a very walkable location.

The hotel stay was excellent, enhanced by free breakfast (which was unexpected). Customer service was top-notch. The rooms were very spacious and clean with the necessary amenities for family stay, including dispensers for high quality liquid soap. The only minor issues include low quality toilet paper and some unfixed minor defects (e.g. toilet paper holder). Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Check in was quick and easy, staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included which is nice, although it’s nothing fancy. Hotel is a bit dated, but it was clean. Great location - close to the highway, restaurants, shops, Charlottesville and UVA.
