Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, and convenient location. However, there are several complaints about the quality and cost of breakfast, as well as issues with housekeeping and room maintenance.

This hotel is a little dated and the furniture needs up grading. But the bathroom design, with 2 hooks for hanging towels is better than hotels costing twice as much. We had a suite and found the room very comfortable. The sleeper sofa should be replaced because of visible stains and I didn’t really want to touch it.
- 2/5
The hotel itself was decent but all that doesn’t matter because of the house keeping. Upon entering our room the toilet paper rolls had questionable brown/red stains all over the rolls in the holder & a 2nd roll looked like it had been dropped in liquid and replaced to let it dry out!? The bathroom light had 2 lights with 1 bulb burnt out. We contacted house cleaning who changed out the toilet paper but not the light bulb. Upon returning for the night I noticed the sheets did not smell clean. I tried to sleep anyway thinking it all in my head. However the next morning when I pulled back the sheets ( the side I did not sleep on), I noticed dirt(?) or worse in the bed!!! I had in fact slept in previously used sheets. I asked that all bedding be replaced before the 2nd night. Upon getting into bed there was a noticeable cleaner smell so I now know was not in my head. I’m disgusted that I slept in someone else’s dirty sheets!! Finally the light bulb was changed but bathroom has no fan for steam from showers? What the heck? Don’t All bathrooms have fans? The room was either too cold or too hot. I’m sorry but this hotel was almost $500 for 2 nights & I slept in a dirty bed!!

The staff were all great. Our room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff helpful with recommendations for local places to dine. Very nice outside relaxation area with fire pit. A large pond was out back making for a nice place to sit and relax in the evening.
- 5/5
The view from our room was beautiful!
- 5/5
This hotel was very conveniently located. The staff was excellent, and the breakfast they serve, made to order, was well worth the $8.00 pp. on the down side, it could have been a little cleaner. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
The room was right by the elevator which worried me, but is was so quiet all night!

The bathroom could have been cleaned better.

Will definitely be back

Great place. Nice dining.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Staff very friendly.
- 5/5
The room was ready a little before our check in time and was clean and spotless. The front desk was helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
The setting was so pretty. Nothing.

The interior of the rooms is old and worn. Hopefully the updated lobby is a sign that the rooms are scheduled to be updated next. Housekeeping is questionable as one of my pillowcases had a stain and the sheets smelled like hand lotion. Told the front desk about the stain and was told they would make housekeeping aware but that was the only effort made to make it right.
- 5/5
Very clean place what we always expect from Hilton. The pool and hot tub is a little small but is still an extra thing to do. Our bed was not the best and needs to be replaced. It was saggy and ripped on the bottom. Great location for a quiet stay. Great walking trail around the pond. Not a lot of restaurant choices within walking distance. Simple restaurant menu at the hotel. All in all a great place and that is why I gave it a 5 star.
- 4/5
Great but the staff could use some greeting training at the front desk
- 5/5
There's a nice walking path with a couple of ponds right by; great for a stroll. They have a small pool and a decent sized hot-tub. I ate and drank at the bar the first night; the Bartender was very kind and the food was good. The bed was really comfortable, so sleeping was easy. The blackout curtains worked really nicely. Will definitely stay there again next time I need to be close to Pantops.
- 4/5
Clean, safe area, restaurant, well-lit parking lot. Not the greatest plows or comforters…but bed is comfy.
- 5/5
The pool and hot tub area were very enjoyable and appeared well cared for. Thank you

Hotel needs to
- 4/5
Front desk staff was extremely helpful and courteous—very professional. The hotel overall seems nice, safe, a good location if you have reason to be right next to Martha Jefferson hospital. The room itself seemed tired. Definitely time for a makeover!
- 2/5
The bright spot was breakfast and the lovely waitress and delicious meal. Front desk workers were kind.
- 4/5
The setting of the hotel on a hill is very beautiful, lakes, large mature trees, rooms shielded from traffic noise ( especially on the lake side), and spacious rooms. The lobby is well designed. A front/back fireplace provides two areas of quiet and privacy apart from the breakfast and bar area. There are signs of gentle aging - corporate definitely should nurture this one.
- 5/5
This is a great place. We've stayed here multiple times and we'll be back again. The staff is excellent, on-point and will do whatever they can to make your stay better. The bar is good and you can get most any cocktail you you want. Breakfast is good. It's a not a huge menu, but the food is well prepared and served by a staff that cares about making your stay good.
- 5/5
Restaurant in hotel was surprisingly good!
- 5/5
Great room breakfast and all staff were fantastic
- 5/5

The hotel was friendly, clean and modern.
- 5/5
Friendly happy people! Check in was great, they had local area information and recommended an amazing German restaurant- room was clean, comfortable and cozy
- 5/5
Clean room and free bottled water and good breakfast
- 5/5
Great experience
- 4/5
Enjoyed my one night stay. It was a good value. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom was clean and room came with keurig that was well stocked plus complimentary bottled water. Plenty of parking right by the hotel and Ubers arrived quickly to hotel location. Hotel area was quiet. Hallway carpets showed wear and some tears and I found the pillows were too soft for me and didn’t stay fluffy
- 5/5
I was at the hotel for one night. I was grateful that the hotel restaurant was still serving dinner, since I arrived later Thani expected to.
- 5/5
comfortable, friendly staff
- 4/5
Room was updated and clean with great views of the ponds out back. Lobby clean. Restaurant was very poor. One waitress trying to serve all tables was impossible. Food not received as ordered, and waitress so busy I’m didn’t want to send it back.
- 3/5
Room was not clean
- 5/5
Dog friendly hotel but the room smelled great. Lobby very nice and large. Walking area outside the hotel was very nice to walk our dogs with ponds and paved paths
- 3/5
Shower did not work properly. One of the elevators was out of service.
- 5/5
Beautiful grounds. Everyone was very friendly and the property is very well maintained. Our room was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Will stay again.
- 5/5
friendly staff checking in and fast and easy.
- 5/5
Convenient to Rt. 64 I have stayed several times. Clean, quiet, friendly and efficient staff reasonably priced breakfast I didn't have to run around area to find. Will no doubt return
- 5/5
Very nice person at check in; clean room and comfy. Loved that we could get snacks.
- 5/5
Front desk personnel were very nice and accommodating. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Beautiful location. Lovely scenery.
- 5/5
I ordered a classic burger with fries and it was super good! The bed was very comfortable and good pillows. Air conditioner worked well. Room was very clean.
- 4/5
Property was convenient to me and had a lovely view of a pond. The staff was very nice but the rooms could use some new carpet and TV's.
- 5/5
Customer service was excellent, grounds were beautiful, restaurant was nice, food was good, pool & hot tub were great, close proximity to Monticello, UVA & downtown Charlottsville.
- 5/5
Nice hotel.
- 5/5
We stayed 2 nights this past week. It is very quiet. Rooms were spacious. Surroundings were quiet. They have a “restaurant “ area which is open for breakfast and dinner. Both you have to pay for. Very nice place. Would stay again.
- 3/5
The hotel is conveniently located to Charlottesville, but some of the room furnishings (i.e., couches and chairs) are stained and showing wear. The comforter on top of the bed also had a lot of snags and string pulls, which indicated that it was well-worn too. We were there for three days, two nights, and housekeeping never refreshed our room. The in-room coffee maker also malfunctioned and leaked coffee all over the place during our first morning. They do offer a nice breakfast service in the lobby for a reasonable price as well as a well-stocked snack area. Unfortunately, the fire alarm went off at 6 am on the Sunday we were there and we all had to evacuate the building for 30 minutes or so. The majority of the staff was very pleasant but I won't be staying here again.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and pleasant, and the view out the back was beautiful, but the room did not have hotel slippers in it. (If it had a safe, I did not find it.)
- 3/5
The mattress was awful and the bedspread was old and worn out. I expected a free continental breakfast, but there was none
- 5/5
It was across the street from family house. So convenient! The hotel is very clean, quiet and staff very friendly.
- 5/5
What a delight roaming around the ponds that are around the property. Easy walk to shopping/restaurants.
- 3/5
Food in cafe was mediocre. Mattress and pillows the same. No way to open a window in room. Best feature was very friendly and helpful staff.
- 3/5
Hotel was okay for a quick stay.
- 1/5
Lots of noses from air conditioning
- 5/5
This property is in a beautiful area, and the staff was great. The room was perfectly fine, and i enjoyed my stay!
- 4/5
Much cleaner than the last few times
- 5/5
Felt like a new property. Great stay.
- 5/5
Good access to Monticello and the Charlottesville walking mall.
- 5/5
Very nice, comfortable and clean
- 5/5
Wonderful stay, very clean room and pool, friendly and accommodating staff. Sharone and Ken were especially helpful. Will be back to stay when in the area.
- 5/5
We spent the night here before my surgery the next day. It was perfect- clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant/bar were very friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace on the chilly nights. The room was an average hotel room but was very clean and the beds were comfortable
- 5/5
Our stay was enjoyable. The dining option was not suitable for someone who has celiac. The staff was helpful but the options were very little.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Great, no problems, clean and the beds were very comfortable.
- 2/5
Thermostat in room was broken, standing water in tub/shower, pillows and sheets didn’t really seem clean and under the bed was digesting (chewed gum and random debris), chlorine level in pool high enough to irritate skin
- 5/5
Everything is clean and quiet. Would recommend to anyone with families.
- 4/5
Rooms are a little dated. Verizon service was weak in the room I had. I was on 3rd floor near elevator and was woken up by a lot of noise (slamming doors?) in the hallway at 3am. But it was ok overall. The lobby is nice.
- 5/5
Very clean and visitor friendly
- 4/5
The whole hotel can use room renovations and the beds weren’t comfortable but other than that it was good
- 5/5
We hope the heating gets corrected in the lobby/restaurant.
- 5/5
Great overnight stay for a concert at JPJ. Staff very friendly and hotel was very clean.
- 5/5
It was a great hotel and was convenient to find. The staff were great, and they had a coffee bar available.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable hotel. Convenient location, close to Charlottesville attractions, shopping and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
Convenient
- 3/5
It was just ok. Not a good value.
- 3/5
The hotel old , elevator very old, no coffee in front desk cafeteria more, the room old and the bathroom sink clogged ( disgusting), shower bad and no shampoo and conditioner ( empty bottles) , need update all things, I believe not returning back any more, next time I try found another hotel.
- 5/5
I highly recommend this property for overnight stays. Very clean. Staff is very friendly. I've been a loyal customer of Hilton for a while and I'm never disappointed. I didn't have a chance to stay and enjoy breakfast, but it looked fantastic!
- 5/5
Ken was fantastic!
- 4/5
Clean. Nice staff.
- 4/5
We stayed here on multiple occasions for the great park and view in the back of the hotel. Great place for a walk and relaxing.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Good breakfast, very good location, nice staff in the room was very large.
- 5/5
The hotel has a modern and beautiful design of common areas, hallways. Rooms are specious and clean. Bathroom also very good. The room has a small fridge, microwave and small coffee maker. Great working place with a comfortable computer chair. Individual A/C that is perfect! If you want a better view ask for the room on the 3-4 floor. On my second floor I couldn't enjoy the view because of trees. But it still worked well for me. The hotel is in quite area. I liked the lakes and trail. The location is great too, if you drive, 3 min from Giant, 10 min
- 5/5
We liked the quietness of the room we had and the breakfast was great. We paid extra at check-in for vouchers for breakfast, I think it was $8. each. Would definitely stay here again.
- 2/5
Dirty bathroom
- 5/5
It had a lovely pond with sidewalk for walking.
- 2/5
Breakfast was horrible.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely helpful.
- 4/5
Property is showing its age, but nice overall. Friendly staff, my bathroom shower was not very clean. Overall the property could use a refresh.
- 5/5
Conveniently located next to hospital
- 4/5
Bed mattress was uncomfortable and pillows were too flat.
- 5/5
Had a great stay
- 5/5
Clean, quiet and friendly staff
- 5/5
The hotel itself was very clean and the area was quiet. Would definitely come back!
- 5/5
There is an onsite shop mart. Beautiful lobby lounge and serene outdoor settings to relax.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Great overnight stop visiting Monticello on our way to Tennessee. No problems and good service.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect with our stay! Cici was an amazing bartender and helped us find our way around! Our only downfall would be the restaurant not being open the whole weekend- and only Mon-Fri.
- 3/5
Thought there was complimentary continental breakfast when i booked, but it was $10 per person.
- 4/5
This was our first stay at a Hilton Garden Inn. We were very satisfied with the room. My wife is disabled, so there was plenty of room to move the wheelchair around. The bathroom was set up well. My only knock was the sink area was pretty tight, not much of a counter space.
- 5/5
Location
- 4/5
The location is excellent for visiting Monticello but it is a formula hotel in a suburban backwater of Charlottesville where you need to drive to anything meaningful or of interest. The side patio was full of beer cans from a group that had a heck of a party . Not noisy but just all very hermetically sad and suburban to a flaw. Our most expensive hotel on a trip of 5 hotels in 7 days. The most luxurious splurge but the the most banal of choices.
- 5/5
safe friendly staff
- 5/5
The staff was excellent. Wish they had more name signs on all roads leading to them
- 5/5
Very nice and clean hotel. Breakfast buffet is very convenient and decent price. Check in and check out was super fast and easy. Definitely recommended.
- 5/5
Was a very clean well kept hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel, we will stay here every time we are in town.
- 5/5
Unique setting amidst the rolling hills just outside of town. Great for travelers with pets.
- 5/5
Perfect for stay
- 4/5
Beautiful grounds.
- 5/5
Very nice facility. Very clean. Surrounding area was wonderful.
- 5/5
Hotel was very good in all aspects except one. Breakfast, which costs $10/person was very poor. They ran out of almost everything. Potatoes were cold. No meats left although we asked the cook and he managed to cook up some bacon and sausage. 3 alices of bread, two muffins, 2 pieces/cubes of honey dew mellon. Not much else.
- 2/5
Room was shabby—broken lamp, bed coverings that were worn. No housekeeping even though we stayed two nights. Nothing cleaned or supplied for second day, no coffee, no cups, no clean towels, no bed make up. Was told it was a new policy and I was handed the coffee, cups and towels when I went to the desk and asked. Got a paper cup of wine from the bar and was told it was a new policy that glasses could not be brought up to the room. There was a barking dog next door and was told the hotel is pet friendly and they can’t go into a room. I will never stay here or at any other Hilton Garden Inn ever! The room was not the most expensive but it wasn’t economy either. The service was subpar and the room made me uncomfortable. Take my advice and skip Hilton Garden Inn. You’re better off going with any other brand. I know I have learned a lesson!
- 4/5
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has good dining options and easy parking.
- 5/5
Great place we will stay there again.
- 5/5
Property is well maintained and clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful
- 1/5
That was it i was done i requested a new room or i was leaving. I was immediately moved to another room, it was late i was exhausted and i was there for only one night thank goodness its over never again!
- 5/5
Nice place
- 4/5
The toliet is very low on the floor and the shower pressure is not great.
- 5/5
Very clean, quiet, friendly staff. Parking convenient
- 5/5
Very nice, reasonably priced, lovely staff
- 5/5
It’s setback off the road. Very private and beautiful grounds!
- 5/5
The hospitality was amazing. The staff were courteous, helpful, efficient. I felt very well taken care of. The room was clean, beautifully decorated. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The only thing I would suggest would be more usb ports for charging electronics, but I didn’t knock any points off for that , it’s a small incidental.
- 4/5
Thank you
- 5/5
Front desk staff very helpful!
- 4/5
Food at breakfast bar was not hot
- 5/5
Conveniently located to all historic sites in the area.
- 4/5
Great location and like-new hotel. Quiet and easy to access. Giving a 3 for cleanliness: bathroom was quite dirty with hair and other not-so-great things on the bathroom floor.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, easy dining option onsite.
- 5/5
Rooms were quiet and comfortable. Housekeeping provided extras when requested and front desk took care of cleaning and any special requests. Breakfast was available for 5 hours and included chef making your individual meals. Dinner and bar were available. Staff was caring beyond belief. DO stay here.
