    The staff is very nice and helpful. The check in and out process was fast. The room was clean and roomy. The bathroom and shower is big. We didnt get a chance to have the continental breakfast. The parking was plentiful. And also pet friendly. I would definitely book this hotel again for my next stay in Charlottesville.

    Parking is very convenient in a crowded part of the city with limited parking. It's free and in the basement. Not a lover of the decor, but that's a personal choice and has nothing to do with the overall function of the hotel. My biggest complaint is the odd choice of their room doors. They are extremely heavy and have a spring action shut to them that makes them slam automatically, causing a huge "bang" all through the hall even if you try to close the door quietly. Not sure why it has to be so dramatic and clunky and, ultimately noisy enough for light sleepers to wake up.

    10/10 stay! Clean, spacious suite rooms. Very kind, professional staff. Some rooms are pet-friendly, which I needed for this trip. Walkable to the downtown outdoor mall area which was great. Good continental breakfast. Would 100% recommend and would definitely stay again!

    We had to change rooms due to a hot water issue so were in a smaller room, but lower price. The maids did not do a good job of keeping up with the room e.g. replacing towels emptying wastebaskets, cleaning bathroom. I was surmised it got a 9 of 10.

    Location was good . Unfortunately there were several issues that were not up to par regarding a Marriott stay . The water in the shower never got hot. I don’t understand how a hotel shower could not get hot water !! Unfortunately, this left us with cold showers . The air conditioner had a rattle / sound that took a while to get to sleep. Quite loud too, but the rattle was difficult to sleep through . The outlet kicked off the hair dryer repeatedly and did it on another outlet as well . While I understand wanting to turn over the room for another guest , we had housekeeping knock on the door at 9 am and again at 9:30am, making us feel rushed to get out . It seems there would be a better system . I usually do not leave reviews , as we understand things happen that are out of our control . However , I felt the need to review this time, as there were several issues .

    Check in was good with polite and friendly Hostess. They would have received an excellent rating; however deadbolt on door did not work and bedding (sheets, comforter, pillow cases smelled like cigarette smoke. I notified front desk attendant and the bedding was changed to fresh clean bedding. The deadbolt remains broke (safety issue).

    Last week, my meeting was rescheduled to the following week due to weather, and unfortunately, the same issue happened again. I had to cover the cost of the first rescheduling and lost it again the second time. When I called to adjust my reservation, I discovered that as of 1/8/25, a new policy was implemented with a much stricter cancellation policy. I want to make others aware of this change, as it may impact future bookings. It’s disappointing that they offer no flexibility for weather-related cancellations.

    Our company sends teams out to work in various areas may times a year. They typically love Marriott hotels, but unfortunately, we will not be booking with them anymore. We've spent a lot of money in hotels annually, most of which were Marriott or assoc. Typically with no issues whatsoever. Until now, this particular trip was cut short due to heavy snow that my team could not work in, when we ask for any kind of help, as in, a partial refund or booking the same amounts of rooms the following week. We were told to essentially "take a hike", and "our policy is no refunds at all ever". This was very disappointing that we did not get any kind of assistance and wasted three night's stay for two rooms. I fully understand policies and their stance, but I feel like with the amount of past and potential future business. There would have been some kind of "customer care" assistance. Thanks!

    The staff were very helpful, but our trash didn’t get emptied during our stay. We requested a handicap accessible room. The pull down seat in the shower was great, but it was terribly small if you were trying to stand up. The bed was so high that my 6’ husband had to jump up to get in it and had to assist me (5’ 5”). The bed also was so hard that it didn’t make an indentation when we laid on it. Fortunately the room had a couch and I actually slept on the couch. They did offer a buffet, but the food was bizarre and had no bread.

    In the room for person with disability, the bed was too soft and also too high for shorter person to get into or out of without assistance. Also, dangerous to get out of. No stool or other type of assist was offered or available. Discovered that this was a common complaint in that area. Soft bed resulted in inability to lie flat on bed without curvature of body.

    1) parking is mainly in the underground park but we just couldn’t make the lift work with our room key; itmeant an uphill trek with all our luggage. 2) no info in the room and generally poor signage around the hotel. You want a wifi password? Call reception. Times of breakfast? Call reception. Location of pool? Call reception. Location of laundry? Call reception. I found two people on separate occasions wandering round just looking for ice machines 3) no working fan in bathroom 4) no teabags provided in room 5) laundry out of action. This is a deal breaker when you’re on the road for several weeks and make a point of selecting a hotel mainly on the basis of being able to do laundry 6) aircon so noisy that we couldn’t sleep with it on 7) hairdryer cable so short I had to kneel on the floor to dry my hair (and I’m only 5ft) if I also wanted to use a mirror 8) pool is possibly the tiniest I’ve ever seen in a hotel 9) breakfast was ‘meh’ - oranges at the bottom of the bowl were clearly moldy On the plus side, our room was clean and the beds comfortable and the water on the counter had citrus to flavour it - nice touch. But we’ve stayed in many many hotels at this price point around the world and this one stands out as being below expectations.

    Overall decent stay. Some of the receptionist staff are less than favorable. We only had issues with 1 in specific, all others were great.     Hotel (& our room) was generally clean, tidy & fresh. Spacious & comfortable room with 2 Queen-sized beds. Only 2 of us occupied the room, but could asily accommodate up to 4 people & not feel cramped inside. Carpark was spacious, too, for the big Chrysler rental that we had. A shout out to the staff who were great! That is, staff from Reception, Cleaning & Kitchen. They were all very polite & attentive, as well as helpful!! A special shout out to Ge. Price per night with a buffet breakfast was reasonably competitive. Waffles, pancakes & French toast (served on some of the days) with thin & crispy bacon & eggs were the highlight for us! Also loved the oatmeal with oat milk & fruit compote!! Although, breakfast would have been even better if there was some fresh vegetables served, like tomatoes, cucumber & lettuce/baby spinach, as well with the buffet. This freshness would help break down the oils/butter used in the cooking. Thus, providing a healthier & a balanced breakfast meal. Would also help accommodate some Vegetarian guests. Having some bananas & mandarins was nice, but on top of that, serving some other fruit like apples/ pears would go nicely, as well. My husband & I enjoyed our stay in the Fairfield Suites/Marriot Hotel University Area, Charlottesville - we felt comfortable, relaxed & safe. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.     Overall, the Fairfield Inn is a nice place for the price. Breakfast and parking are included in the price, which many all of the nearby hotels charge separately for these. The negative item for us was our room faced Cherry Street. Surprisingly, between emergency vehicles and loud pickups and cars, there were numerous times throughout the night we were woken by the road noise.

    Stayed 3 days and 2 nights. Bathroom was pretty clean - liked the glass shower. I originally decided on this site because the room had two TVs and a couch. One TV did not work and the couch was not near as nice as the one in their photos. Asked about maintenance and was told they had a couple of days off. Note: you are on a main road and can hear everything - yes my room faced the road. Pro- they have underground parking with an elevator

    It would have been useful to know that the property is being renovated and that the pool was unavailable. It was disappointing to find the breakfast option was overpriced pastries and Starbuck coffee. We traveled with a gluten-intolerant grandchild and had to rummage around a town we were unfamiliar with to find breakfast. The front desk check-in staff was very good.

    This place was pretty dirty. The staff was very nice but the room was awful. There were blood stains in the sheets and holes in the comforter and various stians along the room.
