More street noise than expected, parlour accessible from outside only, could use hook on back of bathroom door

The Inn is filled with charm and warmth. Felt like I was in someone’s home. Our suite was on the 2nd floor, and was spacious, bright and clean. The bed was super comfortable. Well located to walk to restaurants. Jake the manager was friendly and always available to answer questions. Free parking was a great addition to an easy and enjoyable stay.

We loved the location (walking around the UVA campus, to meals and the downtown mall) and the authentic historic property. Plus an excellent breakfast at the Farm Bell Kitchen on site.

Jake welcomed us at the door, room was beautiful, property was historic yet felt cozy and the breakfast was incredible. This was one of the nicest places I've stayed in the US.

We really enjoyed the Dinsmore Inn after touring Monticello. Our room was very nice and the manager Jake was extremely helpful with arrival information, checking in, and helpful tidbits on the hotel and town. The breakfast at Farm Bell Kitchen was also really good and a great way to start the day. We just wish we had more time to stay longer. Would definitely stay here again

Staff excellent!

The Dinsmore House is a lovely small historic hotel in Charlottesville that feels like a cozy BnB with wonderful historic character. The location is in easy walking distance to downtown or UVA. The staff are helpful and so nice! Our room was spacious and clean, with comfortable pillows and linens on the bed, and the bathroom is updated and sparkling. They have a well stocked hospitality room with comfortable sofas for the guests, stocked with coffee and tea, a refrigerator and some snacks. There are also some outside tables and chairs to relax outdoors. Free garage parking nearby. The restaurant next door, Bell Farm Kitchen, has a fabulous breakfast menu and the hotel provides a breakfast voucher with your stay! I highly recommend this hotel!

I am not typically a bed and breakfast person, but the reviews and location tempted me into booking. I am so glad I did. From checking in with the host, to the quaint and well kept room, to the fabulous location and of course the incredible breakfast - everything was wonderful. Do not hesitate to book here, you absolutely will love it.

The only item we did not like was that when taking a bath or shower the water was not hot enough. During a shower the water went completely cold. Probably an easy fix for the property. Everything else was top notch wonderful- breakfast was excellent, staff very nice and accommodating. I am recommending this place to others

Excellent location very convenient to the downtown mall area as well as lots of restaurants on Main Street, which was an easy walk. We stayed in the library loft, which was perfect as we had an upstairs sleeping area and a separate downstairs with 2 bathrooms. Breakfast is included at Farm Bell Kitchen every morning, which is well worth it. Also, parking was included, which is a great perk for this area. Will definitely stay here again!

Staff was great! Breakfast was delicious. The hotel itself was unique in all the best ways. We were staying in one of the oldest buildings in Charlottesville. We learned , on our tour of Monticello, that Dinsmore was a master carpenter that actually built the dome (and much more) at Monticello. I believe he built this building that is now the Dinsmore. Our room was very old and very comfortable.

Always our favorite place to stay. They are so welcoming and very communicative. Amazing breakfast and the rooms are always clean and so lovely. Excellent communicating about checking in and parking and any other details. The beds are so comfortable too. And the location is so easy if visiting a student in campus or in town for an event. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay. It was in a great part of the town so that we had access my Walkingstick. Parking was right at the facility, so it made it easy. Breakfast is right next-door, which was included and was wonderful.

Nice comfortable room, location is convenient for walking to restaurants and UVA but on a busy road. They do a good job of keeping the noise out of the room but just FYI. Breakfast was included which is a nice perk, the coffee was very good and food was ok (pleasant atmosphere). Enjoyed Charlottesville.

Our stay at the Dinsmore was perfect. Jake the manager responded quickly to every question and the location couldn’t have been better - everything within easy access and onsite parking. The ambiance of the buildings made us feel part of the history that drew us to C’ville for a mini-vacay and the included breakfast at the attached restaurant was beyond divine. Only problem was we were always too full to eat lunch later!!

But, heat was not working properly and had to be reset-was cold in room for several hours. Also, Room 5 is accessed through the restaurant staircase-you literally are walking through the restaurant to leave the premises.

Dinsmore is a sweet taste of southern hospitality. The rooms are all clean and beautiful. Ours has a fireplace and lots of light. The bed is a four poster with the softest linens. The manager greeted us and showed us a hospitality are of the building with complimentary coffee waters. They have an extensive collection of wine for sale. The breakfast was the very best we’ve had, again complimentary. This was an overnight stay for us on our way to Nortu Carolina and I can’t recommend it enough

We stayed in the Virginia which had very easy accessibility. At times the street noise got a bit loud but the inn was delightful. Breakfast at the restaurant (included) was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

It is at the corner of UVA on Main St. Therea lot of foot traffic outside the hotel and vehicles passing by but that’s what we wanted, so it was perfect for us

We had a fantastic stay at Dinsmore Inn. The facilities are hard to fault and the room felt luxurious. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

Excellent location and very large roooms - somewhat loud at night from the road if you are on the front of the hotel (but it is a college town so that is expected). The rooms / hotel is a bit dated (could use some paint) but the linens are nice and beds comfortable. The breakfast is amazing and the staff is very accomodating. Parking is the easiest and best price in town! Would definitely stay here again.

The train was the only thing that scared me one night as I wasn't sure that was the noise that woke me up.

The room and service were perfect. We love the breakfast as well.

We were ungraded to an inside room because they were somewhat empty and the storm Debby was going by that night. Very nice, clean room and very comfortable bed. Breakfast is included at the main floor restaurant with incredible food cooked to order. Well worth the extra money. Free parking was included in the parking structure behind the hotel. It is also located across the street from UVA hospital.

A charming historic property with thoughtful, engaging hosts. My room was just gorgeous, furnished with antiques and an incredibly comfortable bed. The bathroom was equipped w/ both a walk-in shower and a huge old-fashioned bathtub (a must for me). And the breakfast was beyond delicious, with choices, hot and cold, to suit every taste. I could not recommend this place more highly.

The dinsmore is a cute historic house that has been converted into a boutique hotel with a brunch restaurant. You get meals included in your reservation and I recommend eating at the restaurant—super tasty! Apparently has won awards for their Sunday brunch. The hotel has beautiful rooms that have old character and charm but are updated to modern standards. Be aware you do have to climb steps with your suitcases, it does not appear to be ada friendly which was not an issue for us but being that it is a converted old house it does not seem to have elevators or ramps to the upstairs room accommodations.

An historic building with a great manager, a terrific staff, and the best breakfast in Charlottesville. We will definitely stay here again.

The whole experience at the Dinsmore from the friendly text before we arrived to the check out was excellent. The room was very nice and the breakfast at tge Farm Bell very tasty. So much better than your run of the mill hotel experience. We highly recommend!

What a delightful place, so full of history. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the breakfast magnificent! Inn keeper Jake was an added bonus and communication was awesome. We will be back.

Nice property. Not entirely accessible if you have difficulty with stairs but the outside building locks as well as your room lock. Nice, historic Inn near Downtown, the hospital, and grounds.

We enjoyed our short, 1 night stay at the Dinsmore. Great location, a short walk, close to restaurants and the University. Hotel is a historic building but well maintained, clean and modern. Great service, made us feel very warm and comfortable. A terrific restaurant and breakfast, we recommend it highly.

Considering the facts, the historical area (including the building for this inn), the hospitality, the breakfast, and the clean room---we couldn't find a better place and it also did not cost an arm or a leg! The price is pretty reasonable.

Room was very nice. Located very centrally so I could walk to UVA and the nice downtown shopping areas. Very close to Monticello too!

Great staff

Beginning of the booking process to checking in was amazing, both Jake and Vanessa were very attentive and helpful. Vanessa checked us in and even helped carry my bag to the room. The room was spacious and and beautiful and I was excited to stay in this wonderful bed-and-breakfast. The breakfast was amazing and so was the service. I would definitely come here again.

This is a really cute property. The manager Jake was really helpful and assisted us in making brunch reservations at the Inn's restaurant. Our room was very large, clean and was beautifully decorated. We were in Room #1. The only downside was that the restaurant below our room was fairly loud. If you want to sleep in, it is not the place for you to stay.

It was our second time staying at the dinsmore inn. Very cute inn! Historic building with updated rooms and bathrooms give it a very quaint and comfortable feel. Breakfast is included at the farm bell kitchen and it’s delicious. It is a public restaurant so when you walk out of your room, there are people around from the restaurant and you could ever so slightly hear the restaurant noises from the room so bring a white noise machine if you are a light sleeper. Overall, would recommend staying here!

Historic feel and architecture

We had a great stay. The innkeeper is lovely and very attentive to your needs. The included breakfast is excellent! And, the dining area is beautiful and cozy. The room was clean and well appointed. The inn is close to UVA Health Center and the Charlottesville Mall - both are walkable. Would stay here again.

Historic inn near, The Corner, in Charlottesville close to UVA. Vanessa, the inn’s hostess, was equally welcoming, charming, and helpful. Stayed in Jefferson Suite which was rustic, yet beautiful and luxurious. The well appointed suite fronts Main Street, with some street noise during day, but quiets down considerably during sleep hours. Excellent breakfast at Farm Bell restaurant-highly recommended…

It would be nice to have coffee/ tea maker in room and an ice machine available. Bed was comfortable and manager helped with our luggage. Breakfast was okay nothing special but waitress was great!

This place is so charming and beautiful! Vanessa, the inn keeper is thoughtful and caring. She took the initiative and reserved me a table for breakfast at the restaurant on site. She walked me to my room and gave me a warm welcome.

The Dinnsmore House was such a great alternative to a hotel. Personable and attentive staff, beautiful luxurious room and great location!

This property is so unique, close to everything. Lots of coffee shops n parks in walkable distance. Breakfast is included in a wonderful attached restaurant. Also, the caretaker of property greets you upon arrival and ensures all needs are met during your stay.

I stayed one night for business. The staff was extremely accommodating and went out of their way to welcome me and facilitate my stay. The bed was a dream, so comfortable. The bathroom was a bit tight and might be a little difficult for a larger person to maneuver around the door. The sink was also half covered by the shelf above it. Really nice bath products! Bathroom floor could use a deep clean, but sink, toilet, and shower, were very clean. As mentioned on the website, this room (the Madison room), is directly up the stairs from the restaurant, so if you're a light sleeper, it could be hard to sleep in after 8am. Breakfast was ok, but the service was good. The amount of real maple syrup (for an extra charge) with my waffle was laughable. I actually laughed when I saw it. Very convenient to UVA hospital and UVA campus (grounds). Included garage parking is a bonus.

Adorable boutique hotel in historic brick house. Huge comfy bed with nice linens, renovated bathroom, good air conditioning. Convenient parking and delicious breakfast at the on site restaurant. Staff couldn’t be kinder. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend the Dinsmore Inn. The host was wonderful (excellent communication) and the room was lovely and super comfortable. Better than a BNB. Great location and easy access to visit wineries and fabulous restaurants. We loved the history of the Inn and they’ve done a great job honoring the history and yet adding appropriate modern conveniences and appeal. Breakfast was at their sister restaurant next door and was delicious, beautiful and featured great service. Housekeeping was great with super fast service. If you’re headed to Charlottesville, stay here. You won’t be disappointed.

The Dinsmore Inn was a step back in time to the days of Thomas Jefferson. It is old and shows the two centuries of use, but it's quaint and welcoming. Located between and within walking distance of UVA and the Historic Downtown Charlottesville Mall, it was a perfect location. Free parking and wonderful meals were quite the bonus.

This was my second stay. While good, it wasn’t as good as my first visit. TV was out for the weekend - we had planned to watch the British Open (no discount offered). Tub water was lukewarm, not hot. Patio - table top was rusted and the floor needed painting. The bathroom lights, shower lights, and fan should have separate switches - not all wired into one switch. Extra crispy bacon was rubbery and hard to chew - I think the bacon was cooked on a sheet and then cooked again in a microwave to fill my request. Stairway and hallway rugs could use a good shampooing. Customer service was great as usual - I just think management needs to focus on the little things that improve the customers’ experience.

The 'period' feel of this historic structure, and the comfort were excellent. The breakfast was beyond unreal - extraordinary!! My one constructive criticism would be this: when I am tired and check into a premium room, and perhaps I want to access the news -TV streaming should be simple and quick. Turn on; press the channel number; and there is the programing, or the Guide. In the absence of that, as a poor alternative, at least printed instructions on how to navigate a screenful of unfamiliar apps, in order to get to core programing.

Great character

We travel extensively, including a recent cross country road trip.. The Dinsmore Inn is outstanding in every aspect of accommodations, e.g. ambience, linens, toiletries, location, sound, staff. Could not have been improved upon.
