The Duke Mansion was absolutely stunning and we had a wonderful time.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful property. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay very much.
- 4/5
The old mansion has no non-stairs access at the entrance so your luggage must be carried up 4-5 stairs. And then the reverse when leaving! Unless you go in and request help from the check-in desk, who may be weaker than you. They did deliver the bags to our room and there is an elevator to choose from versus the winding stairway. The room was spacious, clean, large bathroom with with double-headed shower and soaking tub. Except for the constant slamming of the kitchen exterior door below us(we were on the second floor directly above it) it was fairly peaceful. Please adjust the door closer on this door! We enjoyed the summer screened porch(shared with neighbors). The room was supplied with only 2 towel sets, in all my travels there are always at least three when two are staying. Coffee and tea provided on the 2nd floor in the sitting area was nice. The breakfast was very nice, very extensive and included. We must have been close to a fire station as there were 4 calls in the less than 24 hours we stayed and they blared past each time. All in All, a pretty nice stay.

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodations were great and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast and the breakfast staff (Darrieus, Danielle, Mallory, Kyle and Chianna) were extremely friendly and attentive. The breakfast staff worked very well as a team. We enjoyed interacting with them each morning.
- 5/5
Wonderful breakfast with superior service.
- 5/5
Room was clean and the staff is very friendly. The walls are thin, but they provide a fan to drown out some of the noise. Overall, a great experience!
- 5/5
We had an issue with the heat, but it was promptly taken care of. We would most definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Staff was very attentive. Breakfast was delicious and fresh.
- 5/5
It all starts and ends with the Team/Staff. Their level of service was bespoke and they all went above and beyond to ensure our experience was incredible. Specific example was we were coming down the elevator and a cleaning team jumped on. As we decended the employees asked about our stay, what could they do better, was there something they could help us with etc. We were so impressed with both of them. The room was incredible and amenties are top notch. The Mansion itself is like a museum and the wandering about the grounds and gardens was a highlight. We will be back for sure and cant thank the entire Duke Mansion team for an amazing stay.

A Charlotte hidden GEM! 3 miles from where we live but felt like we’d left the Queen City and were in a quiet far away place.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great
- 5/5
Food, room staff were outstanding
- 5/5
All was great !!! I will be back !!!
- 5/5
Staff were great! Tim at checkin was very helpful and kind. Darius waited on us for breakfast and spoiled us!
- 4/5
Pm estimate for power restoration. She offered to keep our bags since the computer was inoperable and we could not be checked in and were not sure we would stay if power was not restored. Instead of resting an hour in our room before dinner and a show we were attending we opted for an earlier dinner and asked her to call us if/when the power was restored. While at dinner she called and told us the power was restored so thankfully we were able to go check in well before the 7 pm show. Kristina handled the entire situation professionally and courteously. We had room 204 which was lovely (we want to return in the spring so we can use the screen porch and wander the grounds). The bed was heavenly and the breakfast buffet was equally wonderful. The breakfast room staff were very efficient and welcoming. Thank you for actually lovely stay and we will definitely be back in the future.

This historical landmark was a gem! We had the best time and the staff (Christine) was absolutely amazing!!! I love all things period related and this B&B did not disappoint. Book now!

Large king room overlooking park of the grounds. Great breakfast, clean room & bathroom. We'll go back!
- 5/5
Everything about our stay at the Duke Mansion was wonderful. Talk about Southern hospitality! We felt welcomed with the spacious room, comfy bed, friendly staff and beautiful gardens. A plus was that we could easily walk to many different restaurants. I highly recommend staying here when traveling to Charlotte.
- 5/5
I stayed at Duke while in Charlotte to visit my daughter. The location was ideal, the hotel was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this old world restored mansion and the extremely helpful staff!
- 4/5
It was okay. Nothing spectacular. Room was "dated" but for all the lives the property has had, it was adequate and we would stay there again!
- 5/5
Excellent room, very spacious with very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast was included with rate
- 5/5
Absolutely stunning. My room felt like a $1000 per night stay. Food is provided and absolutely amazing (I am a foodie!). The garden is lovely and the historic building is well preserved and dazzling.
- 5/5
Luxury from a bygone era. Beautiful setting and accommodations conveniently located to uptown and the Southpark shopping area. Free parking and a wonderful breakfast are included. Our favorite place to stay in Charlotte!
- 5/5
The property is beautiful! The bed was so comfortable The best was Crystal, who served us the most delicious breakfast. Her smile and kindness lights up the dining room. Thank you for a great experience
- 5/5
What a find! A special home with gorgeous gardens. So unique. First class!

We are very pleased with the Duke Mansion and the staff. the facility and gardens are beautiful. We enjoyed our stay very much.
- 5/5
Lovely stay at the Duke Mansion. The breakfast was wonderful and offered a great selection of fruit, with the best biscuits and gravy I’ve had in a long time. Really enjoyed staying there.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
Beautiful property and great experience. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful property! The neighborhood and grounds are gorgeous, and the location is an easy drive to the city, shopping, restaurants, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. The hotel does not have a bar or restaurant, except for breakfast (included). It's a full breakfast menu, the 'breakfast room' is beautiful, and the wait staff was terrific. We had breakfast both mornings during our stay - the first was very good, the second was not (different cook, maybe?). All in all, we would stay again. Very pretty property.
- 5/5
Great breakfast and the service was excellent! There was someone there to take care of everything you need! It was also very clean!
- 5/5
Absolutely beautiful hotel, from now on we will only stay here when visiting Charlotte.

As I learned during my stay, The Duke Mansion's primary focus is events; individual guests are secondary. There is no real space outside of your bedroom for your use -- no restaurant, no kiosk, no sitting areas. There is one 'refreshment area', consisting of a water dispenser, Keurig machine, and sofa/chair. This area could also be used by event attendees, so frankly, it was hard not to feel like an intruder most of the time. While the exterior of the inn may warrant it's historical designation, there's nothing I could see about the interior that meets the standard. It's been repurposed so often (e.g. condos), that anything of interest seems lost. In 1915 when the mansion was built, my room would have been given to the companion or the bachelor. It was dingy, had a fraying carpet, some stains, older, worn furniture for atmosphere, and a Hilton-like bathroom. I saw inside some other rooms that looked better so spending more $$$$ may lead to nicer furnishings. To glam up the experience, the bed & bedding were very comfortable, as were the robe and towels. Breakfast was also very good, but not surprisingly (at this point) served in what appeared to be another meeting room. The staff was very friendly but charged the wrong rate, which took 2 days to resolve. The "fitness studio" seemed like a converted storage room and smelled. Overall, a disappointing experience. Be sure to read the FAQs but still take some of it with a grain of salt. I'll conclude by adding "poor WIFI".

Have you ever stayed someplace that you loved so much you wanted to keep it a secret so it wasn’t booked up the next time? That is the Duke Mansion. Everything is beyond wonderful. The staff, the rooms, the grounds, breakfast is incredible! Go stay. You will love it!
- 5/5
Very roomy, clean. Excellent staff. Very warm southern hospitality. Would go back. We would have appreciated a small fridge in the room.
- 4/5
Beautiful well maintained hotel, rooms were spacious and and very nice!
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 4/5
Lovely stay! Beautiful building and gardens. The room and hallways weren’t completely cool which is difficult in the summer. Bathroom was huge and the shower was very nice.
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
Loved it. Loved the area it is located at. Safe and private. Beautiful grounds.
- 3/5
I booked the room as a gift to my parents and paid online. The front desk staff advised me of different information regarding payment. Initially I was told they would use the card on file but when my parents arrived they asked them to pay. I called to question this and was advised they needed a physical card or for me to fill out an authorization form to use the card on file. I was told it would be sent via email. I never received the form via email which resulted in me having to drive to the hotel to process my payment. Once there, the inconsistencies and inconveniences experienced were dismissed. Additionally, my parents had to change rooms during their stay due to the sheets being dirty and the shower leaking. I was very disappointed as I had anticipated a much better experience for them. I also never received the receipt for the stay even after verifying the email it should be sent to upon checkout. I will not go back or recommend anyone to stay here.
- 5/5
The Duke Mansion was fantastic! Such great hospitality …. Great location…. Great room! The breakfast was phenomenal ! We got the Bananas foster French toast ….. it was out of this world. I highly recommend . If we ever go to Charlotte again this will be where we stay. Southern hospitality at its finest . It was in a nice quiet location and beautiful grounds!
- 5/5
Here we found exactly what we needed - quiet, beautiful, historic, comfort After arriving, we walked the property and enjoyed the beautiful gardens then walked to an Italian restaurant for dinner and subsequently called an Uber to our concert for little money and in we partook of breakfast offered free at the property in the morning which was a hot full breakfast with table service We only stayed one night but look forward to returning - it was much more special than any ordinary hotel and less money than many of them downtown Thank you to all who make it special

- 5/5
Absolutely the BEST bed & breakfast. The rooms were nice, service was impeccable, breakfast was delicious, and the grounds were phenomenal! I could go on and on about how beautiful this place is. Not to mention the beds and bedding were comfortable. Would love to go back for a longer visit.
- 5/5
Lovely old mansion. Wonderful breakfast. Easy parking and lovely grounds.
- 5/5
The nicest thing was the people working there and the older house is amazing and so comfortable being there.
- 5/5
The History of the Mansion and the gardens.
- 5/5
Classic property that is well maintained. Only negative was the elevator not being in service.
- 5/5
Loved it. Beautiful. Will stay here again.
- 5/5
Phenomenal stay! If you love vintage, places with some seasoning in their walls and love old style buildings this place is for you! There is food within walking distance. The neighborhood feels so safe! And the staff was incredible! The only hard part was finding the actual road in. It’s tiny and I missed it 3 times. Wish I could have experienced the garden but it was raining when I stayed so that was a bummer. Definitely try to come in the spring though when everything is alive and blooming! There’s pictures and history all over the walls in there to read! You need at least a whole day to experience the whole place! Also love that check out wasn’t until 12! Book it! You won’t regret it!
- 5/5
The location and staff was EXCELLENT - just a beautiful and well run historical GEM! We especially appreciated Darius going out of his way to make our staff the best possible - our new "go to" place to stay when in Charlotte
- 5/5
Other than the elevator not working, hit was a perfect visit
- 4/5
My favorite place to stay in Charlotte. Unfortunately, the elevator was not working and our room was on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was excellent but served in the ballroom instead of the dining room, so it was not as enjoyable as there were only 3 tables of guest in this huge room. My only big complaint with The Duke Mansion is that they need to upgrade their bed and bath linens to a higher quality. Both are very subpar for such a fine facility.
- 3/5
Woukd not return
- 5/5

The hotel is full of history. Lovely place
- 5/5
Absolutely stunning piece of history!!! The breakfast was amazing and the rooms are beautiful. Make sure you walk the garden and check out all the photos on the wall. Well worth the money!!!

- 5/5
Lovely, comfortable quintessential Southern hospitality.
- 5/5
Beautiful place. Peaceful gardens.
- 5/5
Beautiful historic home. Grounds gorgeous. Delicious breakfast.
- 4/5
Beautiful old mansion, wish the landscapers weren’t out every morning for hours! That really wrecked the experience as each time you went to sit on the porch all you heard was leaf blowers.
- 4/5
Elevator did not work. 3rd floor rooms.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Everything was top notch. Staff and breakfast were extra amazing!
- 5/5
The place is wonderful and magical!
- 3/5
The air conditioner did not work properly. Maintenances answer was to put a fan in our room. Breakfast eggs were served cold.
- 5/5
After our wedding, the car dropped us off. Even at night, the elegance of this place is astounding. We got to our room and it was very comfortable and welcoming. The building is huge with a few rooms providing a "less is more" experience. Room service brought a homemade breakfast that was delicious. And they do have breakfast downstairs, we just had to leave early the next day. I would recommend a stay at least once at the Duke Mansion.
- 5/5
Excellent staff from check in to restaurant staff. Will highly recommend.
- 4/5
Good place to relax!
- 5/5
Very stately

- 4/5
The Mansion is beautiful. Lovely part of town and neighborhood.
- 5/5
I loved the breakfast options, the food and service was fantastic!! I loved how each room was so different, not a cookie cutter like a hotel. It was quaint and memorable. Thank You for a great stay!
- 5/5
The Duke mansion is filled with history and the grounds are beautiful!
- 5/5
Amazing experience in a beautiful Mansion. Great amenities, lovely garden, delicious breakfast. Will visit again soon.
- 5/5
This was a true slice of North Carolina Southern Hospitality. What an amazing stay! Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Loved the look of the hotel and the beautiful gardens. Very lovely to walk around. Would be wonderful if they had some cushions or more comfortable chairs to sit in and enjoy the views. All the chairs seem to be wood and not as comfortable. Location of the hotel is in a beautiful and very walkable area as well with close restuarants near by. The room was nice and bathroom was updated. The bed was not the most comfortable. Did not feel like a quality mattress. Rooms would be great if they had a microwave and fridge. The orange juice, bacon and fresh fruit that came with my breakfast was wonderful. The pancakes were not that great. They were actually on the crispy side. Overall, I enjoyed the aesthetics and convenience of the hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms and groubds
- 5/5
Absolutely beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds and interesting history. We had an absolutely perfect stay Looks like we might actually get there a little before and you could not have asked for more luxury in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Super comfortable beds and everything you could wish for in the bathroom. Highly recommend stay here.

Quaint and absolutely lovely.

The Duke Mansion is amazing. We greatly enjoyed our two night stay. Front desk staff are polite and friendly. Our room was excellent with a nice outdoor patio. The garden grounds are spectacular. But our favorite part was the breakfast and the entire kitchen crew. Wow. They were great and the food was over the top. They made us feel so at home and comfortable. We highly recommend the Duke.
