Nothing has changed. They have the front desk guy , who is rude and takes money from deposit money and never refunds the full amount. Owner answer diplomatic answers to reviews but never pickups calls or returns them. It seem the front desk staff Mr. D is related to the owner that’s why there is no accountability for rude behavior and missing money

Property was clean and quiet, and the refrigerator was full size and bed was comfortable. Only 3 small pillows on a king-size bed, shower drain has a black crud type substance, unfinished/unpainted drywall around bathroom sink, laminate wood flooring extremely old and worn out and furniture doesn't match, very old and missing a drawer.

Nothing Bed linen was dirty and old. There was hair mixed in the linen on the beds, and there was hair all over the bathroom floor. The entry door had a 1/2" gap on the lock side, u could see outside, and the safety lock on the door was held on by tiny screws that you could remove by hand.

I believe in getting what you pay for, but the quality and cleanliness of the room was NOT on par with the price. There was an odor of cigarettes and urine in the room. We also saw multiple small/baby roaches and there was a large gap under the door that other bugs & small critters could fit through. Stains & hair on the bed covering & sheets. No lamps, just the single can light in the ceiling. The bathroom (specifically the door) was badly in need of a paint job. The only pluses were the full size fridge, newer microwave, and the AC was nice and cold. I wish I had done more research and read some reviews before booking. (The choice was made primarily because of the location.) Most of the negative reviews are in line with my experience. If all Rodeway Inns are like this, I would never book a room with them in the future.

The pictures were promising until you get there. The room was a complete disaster. There was stains on the beds the pillowcases were dirty, the towels were stained, the walls were dirty, the floor was cracked and dirty. We saw a roach on the wall. The door was sketchy like someone could break in, you can hear everything outside and next door. There’s a party house that blast music all night.

Staff was friendly & helpful. No coffee pot. Thankful I took my own. There was no hot water even after letting run for 15+ minutes. When reported to office they supposedly fixed it but when I returned to my room I was told to let it run for about 5 minutes. Unfortunately it still wasn’t hot enough to shower. The person next door had a large dog in the room who was howling/crying & barking. Office told me it was a “service dog”. “True” service animals don’t do this unless they are trying to alert you about an issue with their owner. There was a loose/raised board in the flooring (raised approximately 1/4 inch). The bathroom was such a tiny area (about the size of a small shoe closet or pantry). There were also some small bugs spotted in the room.

I did not wind up keeping this room. Everything seemed fine until they opened the door. Smoke alarm was chirping. The door had small gaps in it which let light through. The bedsheets had reddish black stains all over them. Worst of all, it smelled like the whole room was washed with Axe Body Spray. The pictures appear very nice, but I can assure you the room I was given was not.

    1. I am a 71 y.o. male, 270 pounds. The sole chair in the room looked small and flimsy. The second time I was in it it collapsed. I did not rock, lean, slide, etc. while in it. I was dumped on the floor and could have been injured. On examination, the chair was remarkably cheap and weakly constructed. In the morning I reported it to the office. It took two days for them to get me another chair and it was the same type with token reinforcements on three of the four legs. 2. Various small bugs in the room.3. Nothing useable as a table or desk had I needed one.

It was okay. The rooms weren't in the best shape. Our sink was loose and leaked slightly, but the hotel did come and fix it after we mentioned the problem. The ice machine initially didn't work, but they fixed that too. If you just need a cheap place to stay, this place is fine. It does feel a little sketchy, so safety might be a slight concern as there was a man who would regularly sit just outside his room and right in front of ours.

The Not So Good - The room itself could use a good updated coat of paint. They were pretty dirty-looking. There are a lot of bright lights outside and one of my curtains did not close all the way letting the bright light into the room when I was trying to sleep. The most unpleasant part of my stay was the bedding. Upon arrival I noted long black hairs on the pillow and the pillow cases were all stained. When i pulled back the blanket, there was another hair and the sheets were stained. There was also what looked like burn holes in the sheets and the blankets. I checked the other bed in the room and it too had holes in the sheets. I think this could be a much nicer place to stay if it received updated paint and bedding and maybe some supervisory follow-up on the housekeeping staff.

I travel for work and i work in the construction industry. I drink like a fish and enjoy a good time. Im very lenient to neighbor noise and people coming and going all hours but this was just too much. Most people in my industry are ex addicts or have current addiction and this was too much. My fiance booked this hotel for me when I unexpectedly had to stay one more night in Charlotte. The problem was that there was a PGA Golf Tournament and no hotels had vacancies within a 30 mile radius. When I arrived, I noticed the "office" to check in at was really a bullet-proof glass window with a hole to talk through, mush like you would see in a gas station in Compton. People were just hanging around loitering...everyone was just plain shady. Needless to say, I never checked in and went to a safe hotel and just slept in my car in a parking lot. This hotel should not even be listed on Expedia. Dangerous place.

Found source of that smell and it was a half smoked marijuana cigar. Asked for a full refund and they offered me $10.00 for a non smoking room with an illegal drug in it. First room shown was not ready, second was ready but reeking of smoke, even though a sign in reception said all rooms were non-smoking. The attendant, Mike, readily agreed to a refund for us and we went elsewhere. This is NOT a traveler's hotel, but rather a short-term apartment complex for local temporary workers. Give it a pass unless your budget demands the cheapest accommodation in Matthews, NC. It IS convenient to the Sharon-Amity/Monroe Rd area.

I regret even seeing the place i wish i could go back in time just to take this experience put of my memory.

The 1st room we had the toiler overflowed and got everything including our clothes wet. So we had to switch roims within the first 5 minutes of being there. The 2nd room the toilet was stopped up. The room under us smelled like marijuana. I had a man ask for money as we were leaving. Not pleased with it at all.

If $47 is what you want to pay a night it's what you will get. Parking lot and building probably haven't been renovated or kept clean for years. 2 dirty pillows, 1 red blanket and a dirty white sheet. Shower curtain smelled of mold, as did the towels. The only thing that looked new was the sign in front of the hotel. Like I said before, if you want a place for cheap, it's what you will get. Hopefully the property will be bought and bulldozed.

The first room smelled like mildew, the lady in the front office had a nasty attitude. She didn't won't to change my room. The second room air conditioner did not work good, cigarette ashes were in the bathroom floor, and these are suppose to be non smoking rooms. SMH!!!! I was not pleased.

I rented a room for two days and instead of putting a hold on my card the card was charged for both nights. keeping the hotel price in mind it wasnt as scary on the inside as i had suspected. The cloths and towels were thin and coarse and the rooms were dated,my covers had burn marks in them but the room was clean. Its the kind of hotel i would stay at with my frat brothers in college. On this occassion i had my wife and she was very uncomfortable so we checked out the next day. Thats when the problems started. It seems that the manager the only one that can do a refund which is why the card should not be charged in advance. So i had to wait a week to get my refund because he only works 3 or 4 days a week. this is a low budget hotel so please come with the mind frame when you come (you get what you pay for). If you need a cheap hotel and your prepared to settle then this might work for you. Good neighborhood, access to the bus, everything in the room is old like 1950's old but its clean and i did not see any bugs so its not all bad.

The non smoking room smelled of smoke until I turned the AC on. The AC knobs were faded so I had no idea if I was turning on heat or cool. The management was respectful and kind. Good value for money though.

Booked this hotel for two days halfway through the first night I cancelled the second night. There was four of us as I stated at check in there was only two sets of towels and wash cloths in the room so I requested two more and was told your not allowed to have more thank two and if you turn them in you could get more well needless to say we went to turn them in and they didn't have a key to gain access to clean linen... The housekeeping was late getting to work and at checkout I had to leave without even being able to bathe!!! Will never stay here again and recommend that you don't either....

It was my worst hotel stay experience! They didn't clean, put new sheets on till I told them after 2 nights. They woke me up two nights in a row. One of them they opened my door at 1 in morning because they didn't know I was in there. It terrified me!

The room was dirty. The sheets on the bed were stained, the curtains were broken, the furniture was broken and stained. I could not stay there. I gave the keys back and had to find another Hotel.

While the room is non-smoking, it reeked of cigarettes. Overall hotel generally felt unsafe.

I pulled in and was immediately greeted with sketchy people. Could have handled that but my room smelled like weed, and was very dirty. Knowing I couldn't get my money back, I still gave the key back and did NOT stay there.

We have to given a different room on arrival because the key didnt work. The room was ok but the pillows were a little lumpy. There was a dirty towel behind the fridge and you could hear everything your neighbor had to say through the wall.
