Reviews
The Vendue hotel is a unique, art-focused boutique hotel with a prime location in Charleston's historic district. Guests consistently praise the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the hotel's proximity to local attractions. However, some guests have complained about noise, small rooms, and issues with amenities.
- Unique art-focused decor

- Small rooms and issues with amenities

We did not start with the right foot. The rooms were very large but unfortunately we got them on the side of Bay St. and it was pretty noisy outside. The location is great. Very comfortable bed and very strong shower.

An exquisite boutique hotel in the French Quarter of Charleston. We enjoyed the daily staff attention to the little details that make a stay special that included fresh baked goodies and champagne as well as some brandy from time to time in the lobby. The art walk was a great experience as well as the roof top bar. Everyone on staff was there to help.
- 5/5
We were very pleased with our room and the staff. If we had any questions or a problem, they promptly help us. We loved the decor and atmosphere in the hotel.
- 3.5/5
Location and art work Lack of facilities - no mini bar, no seating dependant on hotel on opposite side of road -no room service - not normal for a four star
- 5/5
Great location to explore all of Charleston.
- 5/5
The Vendue was an all-around excellent place to stay for a long weekend birthday celebration for my wife and me. Proximity to countless Charleston sites and friendly/efficient staff stand out as do distinctive decorative charm and upscale/unstuffy vibe. Five stars!
- 5/5
My husband and I stayed at the Enclave for our anniversary. The location is ideal. The staff were extremely helpful with a good mix of friendliness and professionalism. We enjoyed all the extra touches like a bottle of bubbly, evening cookies and milk, and other goodies throughout our stay. We had a lovely bike ride on Saturday morning with the bikes provided. The room was spacious and well appointed. We would definitely return!
- 5/5
The hotel and staff were amazing from start to finish. Wine served as soon as we walked in. We were checked in by a personal assistant while seated at a table. Our luggage was removed from the car and taken straight to our room. The room was complimentary upgrade to a premier king. We received a complimentary bottle of Champagne and also a free breakfast box with muffin, croissants and fruit. Just an absolutely wonderful experience. Will stay here again.

We loved staying here! It is a lovely, clean, classy hotel. Rooms are beautiful. Staff is so nice & helpful. Just great! Thank you!

It was not clear to me that there are two facilities. They are literally across the street from one another. The one we were in did not have many amenities at all, didn’t feel it was that clean, in heavens I hope you don’t need ice because it’s a big deal to get it on top of that, my experience with Expedia was that Hotel cost included all taxes and fees, but that turned out not to be the case. We were expecting to pay for parking of course, not necessarily $46 per day, but there were other taxes and fees on the positive side, the main facility has a rooftop bar. That was nice and the lounge area was nice with quite a bit of artwork
- 5/5
Clean room and close to shops and restaurants

Very good
- 4/5
The good stuff is the buildings are beautiful great for pics and very comfy. The mimosa and chocolate covered fruit bar on weekends was fabulous. Coffee in the mornings. Surprising continental breakfast every morning on our door (2 croissants, 2 muffins, banana apple butter and jelly) Very nice. Rooftop bar was nice. Great view and good drinks. We liked the location too. Not far from many restaurants and market and the water. we got a very nice welcome when we arrived. that was special.

Very nice and enjoyable experience! Very helpful staff! Wish our stay could have been longer!
- 4/5
Everything was excellent as far as hotel experience goes. The welcoming staff was very friendly and helpful, even the cleaning staff. The added restaurant and rooftop bar was a great addition as well. Parking could be better and the outside noise also was annoying at times.

We will certainly return.

Everything about this property is exceptional! From the rooms to the lobby and all of the hotel staff, everything and everyone was extraordinary! I highly recommend this hotel!!

The staff were so polite and helpful. It was in a great location. We were treated with luxury and The Vendue was very unique! Noah and Harvey were so personable and helpful. Thank You Vendue

Great restaurants, particularly the Vendues Revival

The location of this property was the best … 1 block from water. Very artsy and unique setting! Walkable all over downtown . Many shops and restaurants very close! We would definitely stay here again!!

Our room was very nice, and the Enclave part was quiet. I am sure it was part of the bill, but they hung a bag of breakfast goodies on the door every morning. Coffee was ready by 6AM which was perfect, some hotels don't have coffee until 7 and that's sometime too late. On Saturday and Sunday, they had a Mimosa bar in the lobby for the guests. Great location off of E. Bay Street, close to many great restaurants, bars and the City Market. Our room was very nice, the only two things it was missing was a window and a sitting chair. I had to go to the lobby to use my laptop while my wife was getting ready. If we stay there again, we will request a room with a view.

Perfect spot in Charleston! Loved 100% of this place!
- 5/5
Only bummer, which impact a lot of Charleston, is there can be a lot of noise on the street and you can here it in your room. And on a weekend that goes on until later at night (2 am).
- 5/5
It was a unique hotel. Quirky and very art-centric. The staff was wonderful and made every effort to help guests.
- 5/5
Interesting design. Hotel well located. Cool rooftop bar
- 5/5
A very enjoyable stay. Perks included sherry and snacks in the afternoon. The staff was excellent as well.
- 4/5
Very funky decor, comfortable room and great location. Staff was very helpful. Valet is expensive but worth it.
- 5/5
Loved our room!! Staff was pleasant & always helpful!!
- 5/5
Art hotel with art tour!! The location was mint!! It was walking distance from everything you could possibly want to do in downtown Charleston. Also, there was a restaurant in the hotel plus a rooftop bar. This is really a perfect place for couples or people celebrating something. This is not a quiet place so remember there’s going to be a lot of people, but the rooms are quiet and they do a great job with the curtains on the windows to block out noise from the street. But if you’re looking for a fantastic getaway at a great hotel that is boutique chic, and filled with unique artwork, then this is the place for you.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic. We had a great time! Loved the premier king room and rooftop bar.
- 5/5
I want to mention the awesome staff at the Vendue. The following staff went above and beyond for me. I want to personally thank Ryan, Sarah, Noah, Nicholas and Tianna. Thank you so much for helping me with my lost personal items. I look forward to my next visit to Charleston. I will certainly stay at The Vendue. Hey Management! You have a great staff of people working there.
- 5/5
The hotel lobby filled with vibrant art work is a gem. Energy, energy, energy is all around. The staff was most helpful, answering each of our inquiries with positivity and professionalism. This is the place to stay.

This place was absolutely not worth the $1500 for 2 nights that we paid the room was by far the worst in the inn constant noise we had 2 guys talking outside our window the room above was loud it was quiter standing outside the staff listen but didn't do anything to solve the broblem they charged a amenity fee but no amenities not even a alarm clock they told us at check check in that if you don't arrange your stay directly with the hotel you don't get any special consideration. The so called roof top resturant was awaful we went and quite frankly we left with getting anything we will definitely not go back extremely overpriced for forwhat it is
- 4/5
I have stayed in this hotel several times. It is charming and different from most I frequent--in a positive way. My room (both this last visit and the one prior) had some issues. My room this visit was very noisy like someone was moving tables or dropping things overhead. Also, activity in the hallway (talking and doors slamming) was too loud. Perfect location in Charleston, great staff, interesting rooms and activities, on the positive.
- 5/5
Great location

Perfect spot downtown. Located by everything. Restaurants, bars, shops, the water, walkable area that is clean and beautiful. Room was awesome, dog friendly which is super important to us. Valet service was great and the staff were friendly for that. Nice sized bathroom. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Awesome hotel that is in a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will go back to this hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing! Great area to stay in with lots to do
- 2/5
The location is great. There is a horrible smell in the lobby and in our room. The smell was overwhelmingly horrible and you notice it as soon as you walk in the lobby.
- 5/5
Wonderful location for everything you need to do and see in Charleston. Lovely artwork tour of the hotel everyday at 5. Continental breakfast bag delivered to the room. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Late afternoon wine hour. Mid evening coffee and cookies. All nice touches.
- 5/5
Location is excellent. Lots of restaurants. Waterfront park is literally outside your door. City market is just minutes down the street, as are the carriage and walking tours. The boat for Fort Sumter was a 20minute walk. We were at the Enclave, like an annex of the Vendue across the street. It was very clean, very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast arrived about 7am in a bag, which included an apple, a banana, 2 delicious small croissants and 2 small blueberry muffins (very fresh). We got 2 bottles of water daily. We did tours but didn't book anything until we got there, so we could watch the weather. One thing I would suggest is to make restaurant reservations as far ahead as you can. We had to do lunch instead of dinner a couple of times.
- 5/5
The attentive staff and valets, the continental breakfast and evening snack delivered to your door, and the attention to detail make this a relaxing and comfortable place to stay. The restaurant, the beautiful art and the rooftop bar make this an extraordinary hotel. The location is perfect, close to the waterfront park, shops, restaurants and the Charleston Market, and it is just off the busy streets so you can pull up to check in with no trouble. We’ve keep coming back!
- 5/5
Very nice place with art and near to rainbow row
- 5/5
The hotel will help arrange those. The staff is excellent and very attentive to your every need. Cookies and milk after 9 at the Enclave were quite tasty. The rotating original art is curated with the Robert Lange gallery down the street. This is really great art and the on staff curator gives a in depth tour daily of the works. On request, the guide will continue the tour in the enclave portion of the hotel, where the in house artist studio is observed after hours and there is gallery dedicated primarily to his work as well as other great artists. Revival, the in house restaurant, is justifiably highly rated. Rooms are extremely well appointed and comfortable.

Our stay here was nothing short of exceptional. From the daily 4 PM champagne service to the consistently thoughtful and attentive staff, every detail was handled with care. A special thank you to Sarah (with an H!) who went above and beyond to help us—she truly made our experience even more memorable.
- 5/5
I would definitely stay there again as the parking was not such a detractor as the hotel is lovely and the roof top bar is a must see.
- 5/5
Great location! Neat art! Quiet and comfortable.
- 5/5
The hotel had a great vibe. It put me in a good mood just being there. The artwork and music was the perfect backdrop. We’ll be back.
- 5/5
Perfect location within walking distance to historic homes, market, restaurants and battery front. Highly recommend Hyman’s Seafood on Meeting Street!
- 5/5
Great hotel! Staff friendly and helpful. Noah was great!
- 5/5
Rooftop is adorable and fun. 10 out of 10 for me~
- 5/5
Wonderful stay, very clean, staff is friendly, bed & pillows are amazing! The only fault is that I had to pay $40 for a mini fridge for my medication. I will recommend to everyone!
- 5/5
Would definitely return! Great vibes, staff, and nearby shopping.
- 4/5
Staff were incredibly helpful and wonderful. The premier king room sizes vary greatly. We were originally put in one that was very small. They moved us to another one with a separate room / seating area and we were told it was the same type of room! So not worth the extra price unless you get a larger one. Elevator was out for part of the stay - hard to manage with a stroller going up and down stairs. Great location. Overall we had a fine stay.
- 3.5/5
Location good, comfortable room nice extras like cookies hot milk etc Very poor internet while I was there…quite noisy eg room not that well insulated
- 4/5
The hotel itself is very nice. Very cool vibe. Close to everything. Very clean. French style breakfast hangs from your door every morning. The muffins on our first day were actually wet. Not moist as in baked, wet. Unfortunately the staff is hard to deal with. We arrived a little early due to flight and had to wait for our room. We expected that but the delay was horrible. We had winter clothes on, had been up flying since 5am and had not eaten. I know that's not there problem but they showed absolutely not concern. I asked 3 different staff members after the wait was getting really long and each one said they would check with housekeeping but no one got back to us. Finally I asked a young blonde woman for assistance and she got us in our room right away. I have no idea why the others "disappeared ". Every time we would return to the hotel there was no one to speak with or the original gentleman we dealt with would take off. Like he didn't want to deal with any issues. Housekeeping was awesome. We liked the hotel a lot, not so much the staff. Sorry but won't stay there again. Thats too bad. Its a cool hotel.
- 4/5
The staff was awesome. Room was clean. Only downsides would be the bed frame that protruded beyond the mattress that had sharp wooden edges. I would also suggest maybe offering some other coffee creamers for the morning coffee. Otherwise, a wonderful place to stay and lots of fun! The art is great, too.
- 5/5
The Vendue was amazing. We loved its location, walkable to SO MUCH. The staff was so accommodating and wonderful for everything we needed/wanted. The room was CLEAN and I’m a clean freak. The breakfast bag brought to the room each day was such a nice touch and all the little goodies throughout the hotel is so special. Totally recommend a stay here.

Excellent location, clean nice room but location was on lower level which made it loud, coffee in lobby was luke-warm, no hot water or tea selection, room did have a Kuerig with coffe and tea, bath linens were far from plush and not what you would expect, valet parked and car was apparently left in an area where tree sap debris was all over the car which was difficult to remove--staff should have clean before bring back or offer to make some consideration.

Everyone was so accommodating at The Vendue Art Hotel. We were initially greeted by Nicholas with a glass of champagne to complete check-in. Due to crowded downtown Charleston streets, it’s best to pull up in front of the hotel’s red door, and let them valet park your car. Hotel was charming with all of the art and creative decor, and the room did not disappoint. We stayed in the Vendue Queen (bed was great and more like a King!) Room was clean and had everything you need, even a red Keurig!! Cameron had originally messaged me prior to coming and since we were celebrating a special occasion, the hotel sent us a surprise charcuterie board to enjoy early evening. They also had wine in the lobby from 4-5pm. We ate at Fleet Landing Raw Bar, an easy walk from the hotel, on the waterfront. Afterward we returned to the Vendue’s Rooftop Bar where we were served by a great bartendress who grew up in “Chucktown” so she had a lot of wisdom to share about Charleston restaurants, things to do, etc. A nice way to watch the final NCAA game at the bar, although the wrong team won!! We liked everything!

Everyone is fantastic! Charleston is one of our favorite places and everyone at The Vendue couldn’t be nicer and treat us so special! We thank you for a wonderful and memorable weekend! We’ll be back!
- 4/5
However, the ground-floor location created a significant privacy issue, as the walking path is right against the window. I felt quite exposed to passersby looking in. I’d suggest adding a reflective privacy film to the glass or ensuring curtains provide full coverage without blocking all the light. Also, be warned: "Breakfast" is just a small bag hung on your door with a banana, an apple and some tiny pastries. It felt misleading to call that a breakfast. It would be way better if they set up a grab-and-go station by the coffee. On a much higher note, make sure to go across the street to the rooftop restaurant! The food was amazing, the vibe was great, and the waitstaff was absolutely wonderful. It was the perfect way to spend the evening.
- 5/5
Near the pier, fountain, walkable to restaurants
- 5/5
Loved the breakfast bag left at our door each morning! Location next to Waterfront Park was great!
- 5/5
The rooms were very cozy, the hotel was beautiful and eclectic. The location was only a few blocks from the water, and the rooftop bar was awesome. Wish it would’ve had a mini fridge and a full length mirror.

The stay started badly. The room was full of fruit flies. I told the staff about it on my way out to dinner, i was told they would take care of it. Came back to the room after 12 and the flies were still in there. They were surrounding outside of the room door as well. I called customer service and responded immediately. This was arround 1:45am. He came and helpef move us to another room. Around 7am i got up to use the restroom and there was a roach on the bathroom flloor and no hot water for the first 10 minutes. We paid roughly $600 a night. Management was very apologetic. I will not be staying there again.
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice.
- 5/5
We were extremely pleased with our entire experience. Staff was more than helpful, loved our room with fireplace, muffins, croissants, fresh fruit daily, cookies at night as well Revival restaurant. So much close by. Everything within walking distance. A wonderful place to stay.
- 5/5
Great location and hotel
- 4/5
The location is perfect as it is in the heart of the French Quarter with access to restaurants, bars, shopping and historic sites. The staff was very friendly and responsive. The breakfast was a bag delivered to the room each day with a banana, an apple, two muffins, two croissants butter and preserves (no napkins). There’s a coffee maker in the room but no refrigerator. There are refrigerators located in various places in the hallways with complimentary water. The room was always clean but we had to request body wash and toilet paper which we believe housekeeping got disrupted restocking.

Very attentive staff
- 5/5
Central location. Staff phenomenal. Great restaurant and pleasant rooftop restaurant/bar. Service was super slow on the Rooftop both times, it helped that the weather was good. Artwork throughout the property made it unique. Who else serves milk and cookies at 9:00 each night? I would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
The hotel was fantastic, the location couldn't d beat, and we enjoyed the wine, breakfast, and cookies throughout the day. But the very best part was the staff. They were friendly and helpful and really lovely people. I would recommend it highly to anyone.

The room was clean but very very small - almost just big enough for a bed and small table. We did notice inconsistencies in room servicing from day to day. Different or missing towels and on one occasion we tracked down someone to give us additional shower containers. The hotel provides daily breakfast bags to each room. These contained baked goods, an apple and banana. One thing to be aware - the hotel charges a daily "lodging amenity fee" of $20. We were not aware of this until we saw the receipt.
- 5/5

What a lovely place! Central to so many great things in Charleston and being able to walk out and immediately walk along the water is phenomenal. The staff, no matter who was responding to texts( big shoutout to Cameron, Sarah, Tianna, and Audrey!), was exceptional. So responsive and always helped accommodate anything we needed including dropping off a surprise birthday cake to the room they had stored for us! Can’t recommend this place enough, rooms were gorgeous and so spacious!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel close to everything in downtown Charleston. Friendly staff, daily room housekeeping, daily snacks delivered to the room. Would stay here again!
- 3.5/5
The staff, really friendly, Cameron was great. The cookies at night, the fruit during the day, the breakfast bag in the door in the morning. The no windows factor. Which I was aware before I booked, but will never book again.
- 5/5
Ideal location close to the waterfront and wonderful restaurants. We really enjoyed the original artwork, and the thoughtful touches with breakfast muffins delivered to our room each morning, happy hour and bedtime cookies. Comfortable beds, plush linens.

The staff was very accommodating! Thank you, Noah!

Cool hotel with great art but very much felt like self service.

The Revival restaurant was awesome! Staff is super friendly. Room was comfortable and the little added touches like the breakfast bag and macarons at night were a nice touch. Hotel is in a great location. Disappointed in the Rooftop. Compared to,the rest of the hotel, it could definitely use a good makeover.
- 5/5
Staff are wonderful and the rooftop bar is great for a drink or a meal. Fun art vibe and central location
- 4.5/5
Loved how modern it was! I just wish our room was a little bit bigger!

Everything was great until the day I left and I found I was bitten by bed bugs. There were 5 spots on my body that are incredibly itchy. This gave me a lot of anxiety and a terrible way to end my vacation. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast and the macarons they sent to guests were very sweet and considerate. I didn't tell the staff about my condition because I didn't find about my condition until the day of check out and it became worse on my way home. I hope the hotel does something about the bed bug.
- 5/5
Great location in historic Charleston. Easy walk to water and to the market full of shops as well as other dining and shopping. We walked everywhere. Beautiful artsy boutique hotel with great service, nice spacious room & great rooftop area with a bar & grill for dining.

Great staff, great. Mediocre room. May be able to ask for a “better room”? We would return on those terms.

I will preface my review by saying I did directly email hotel over 24 hours ago and have not received a response. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel itself has a very cool vibe and the location is top notch! That said, I had an interior room and the smell of the room itself was rather unpleasant. It had a very musty (think old basement), moldy smell. At times there was even a faint smell of sewage. It may have been exaggerated by rain? Regardless, it was not a welcoming or pleasant smell. I do understand the building itself is old, but all the other areas of hotel I visited had a very pleasant smell.

- 5/5
Wonderful hotel . Great service . Large airy room comfortable bed. A little pastry / fruit breakfast delivered to the door every morning . Plus a turn fiwnnserve that broughtt macarons and ice every evening.
- 5/5
Fantastic room! Clean and spotless everyday. Loved the breakfast bag on the door each morning. Entire staff friendly and helpful. Check out the Rooftop for apps and drinks.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure all was well. Also nice touches, like the candies, the breakfast snacks, and various wine and cordial hours were lovely. The room itself (at Enclave) without windows was a little eerie; next time I'd get one with windows.
- 5/5
Great staff, great location in Charleston
- 5/5
The room was great and very interesting. Extremely comfortable as well
- 4/5
Staff was very nice. Construction noise was irritating outside at 7:30 am. Not being able to park nearby was irritating but understandable as parking is limited downtown. Our room was fun. Big enough for two of us. Thanks for a lovely stay.
- 4/5
Yes clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Great Staff, nice rooms, great location
- 3/5
There was inadequate hot water, the lobby was not adequately heated, but staff was great
- 4.5/5
The location was amazing and accommodations were great The process before. The cancellations from booking.com and then contacting the hotel saying we were booked then arriving to no reservations. Big mess
- 5/5
The room was clean and we'll appointed. The bathroom was incredibly spacious. Staff was nothing but friendly and helpful. The breakfast bag and sweets in the evening are lovely. The complementary bottle of wine was welcome too!
- 5/5
The art and decor in the lobby and rooms is so fun and interesting. the room was well put together and the staff was very accommodating

Beautiful hotel and rooms.

No
- 5/5
Excellent place in an excellent location
- 5/5
I have decided the Vendue is probably my favorite hotel in the continental US. The main reason is the service. From the welcome champagne, to the bottle in my room, to the breakfast hung our doors each morning and ice and macrons delivered at nite...its just a great stay. When you add the art work, rooftop bar and great staff that meet your every wish (along with another glass of champagne), I will try to stay here each time I return.
- 4.5/5
Very clean and great location
- 4/5
They booked us not in the main hotel but across the street so we had to change and of course there was a $49/night up charge and then $49 a night for the valet to park the car which we never moved for three days, so the charges were kind of not fun to be confronted as you you first arrive. The decor of the hotel is no longer a Charleston southern feel, but very art deco, which is not my style so that disappointed me however, the location, the staff and everybody were wonderful so although I probably won’t go back due to the decor I enjoyed every time I’ve stayed there so I wish them well.
- 5/5
My first room had old food items left over from previous guest that house cleaning must have missed. The manager on duty took care of it right away. No issues here- just making sure you are aware.
- 4/5
Nice to have pastries on time every morning. Coffee bar was really nice. Room was very clean every day.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Wouldn’t stay any where else
- 4.5/5
Design
- 3/5
The valet guys were great, the male hotel "hosts" were unkempt, uniforms were a mess, and overall appearance was not what one would expect. The $100 i was charged for a 2 bottles of water and a k-cup seemed a bit excessive.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our 4 night stay at The Enclave. The room was very clean and the bathroom was quite large. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The amenities were appreciated, especially the sherry. The breakfast bag could use some variety.
- 4/5
Check-in was difficult. When we arrived no one was there to help us. We had to search for someone. Finally we found someone, and help was finally provided.
- 5/5
The rooms were large and spotless, and we had fresh pastry every morning, and the staff was excellent
- 5/5
From the moment we arrived (and even before) the Vendue seemed very special. They reached out to connect on details, had champagne, cookies and milk at 4, croissants and muffins delivered to our door in the am. The artistic decor was so beautifully done and unique. Everything felt so thoughtfully designed and welcoming. We loved all the frenchies everywhere and the art tour! Incredible! We also enjoyed the rooftop bar. Would highly recommend!
- 5/5
The decor, the staff, the ambience, the little details. So far the best Hotel I stayed. The rooms are crazy originals, comfortable extremely beautiful. Best sleep of my life. I would always stay there while in town. Nothing.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely courteous. Even when they saw me on city streets, they asked about my stay!
- 5/5
Great staff, very clean rooms, near everything!
- 5/5
Great place and in an excellent location
- 5/5
Location was perfect and the staff was wonderful Valet was pricey but we didnt have a lot of options regarding parking.
- 4/5
The service and location were great but the room was the size of a closet
- 4/5
Just an overnight stay. The room was tiny, but that was fine. The water glasses in the room weren’t cleaned from the previous guest. Made us question how clean everything else was. Room had no refrigerator, which would have been nice to keep our drinks cold. Getting ice was a bit of work. Nice hotel overall. Staff was more than accommodating.
- 5/5
Great location, unique property
- 5/5
Pet friendly, great location, and great service.
- 5/5
Clean room, accessible to many shops and restaurants, and waterfront.
- 4/5
Clean, friendly staff, amazing art, however, the breakfast that is included is simply a bag that is hung on your door with fruit, croissants and muffins.
- 3/5
Bell staff needs some training in actual guest relations and customer service...
- 3/5
Cleanliness! Our bed was in a very bad shape. Squeaky and super uncomfortable! Woke up very sore and tired!
- 5/5
Clean room...the included daily snacks...the breakfast brought to your room/hung in a bag on the door that was also included
- 4/5
Great location & staff.
- 2/5
This is not a good hotel.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff with lots of small, special touches like cookies in the room and a breakfast basket in the morning. Would definitely stay again!!
- 5/5
What a great stay. We visit Charleston often as we are only a few hours away. I’ve been to the rooftop bar often but never stayed at the hotel. The service was fantastic. Champagne at arrival. Took our bags to our room while we parked hot cocoa after our walk and pastries delivered to our room the next morning. Rooms were nicely done and the art was cool and it was festive for the holiday. The only thing they could add was a mini fridge but the manager graciously put our leftovers in the fridge. Location is perfect 2 blocks to city market. Would stay again !
- 5/5
Excellent location and walkable to everything! Welcome drink on arrival
- 5/5
Incredible hotel. Our third staying here. Perfect location and the staff is awesome!!
- 5/5
fantastic staff and a really cool hotel. we ate at the Rivival restaurant in the hotel and it was fabulous
- 5/5
Great room, staff were very attentive and professional.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Staff was so very courteous!
- 5/5
Excellent location. Close to shopping and fantastic restaurants.
- 4/5
The location was perfect. The entire staff, including the front desk, valet, and housekeeping were wonderful. The interiors were spotless and the decor was very cool. The ambiance in the lobby was very nice.
- 5/5
Did not eat breakfast
- 5/5
Friendly front desk, art gallery in Enclave, free snacks, free bottled water, breakfast goodie bag, free morning coffee, comfortable room with turn down service, and evening cookies delivered. The extras were a nice touch. Great location to walk the Charleston French Quarter shops and galleries. Restaurants near by were good. Fun Stay! Would stay at The Vendue again.
- 5/5
The amenities. The cookies and milk and the decor. And the cute red pug in our room.
- 5/5
great location, great staff, nice rooms, always accommodating. right in the middle of Charleston and a great rooftop bar (it was closing at dusk, so that was our fault). would recommend.
- 5/5
What's unique about the property is its focus on art pieces .
- 5/5
Staff was great. Very clean rooms.
- 5/5
Incredible experience.
- 5/5
great
- 4/5
The hotel was very conveniently located to enjoy the old area of Charleston. The room was relatively clean however the section of the hotel we stayed in (the guest rooms span what would have been 3 original buildings) smelled STRONGLY of mildew or musty old building. The overall vibe of the hotel seemed to be aiming at quirky but in my opinion missed quirky and landed in weird. Our stay was fine but I do not believe we would stay there again.
- 5/5
Check in was easy-very welcoming staff. (Plus a complimentary glass of bubbly!). Room was top notch. Roof-top bar was casual and friendly with a nice menu selection with good drink options. Location was perfect within a half block of waterfront park and plenty of shops and restaurants. Interesting art displayed in the lobby with happy hour reception at 4pm. We’ll definitely return to the Vendue!
- 5/5
Everything was great!!
- 5/5
Great place. Great location
- 5/5
Room was great as was staff and Nicholas was very accommodating. Dillon, I believe, was the valet's name and he was efficient and very helpful. The restaurant, Revival, was excellent. We dined at Peninsula Grill and other restaurants and Revival ranks right at the top.

No shower luck warm

Southern hospitality + customer experience. Is the true highlight of this trip. Both Cameron and Virginia were amazing to work with. They helped me set up to have champagne and rose petals in my room for my wife. It was truly a magical experience
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel in a great location. The staff was terrific, always offering to do more.
- 5/5
From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and beautifully prepared, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. The staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive, making us feel truly valued throughout our stay. Every interaction was warm and genuine. This was one of the best hotel experiences we've had — we will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier stay!
- 5/5
Adorable decor and option for a different atmosphere at the sister hotel across the street.
- 5/5
Fantastic location. Staff was great, very helpful
- 5/5
Room was beautiful and staff was very welcoming
- 4/5
Hotel had a fun vibe and excellent service. All staff were great.
- 5/5
LOVED IT!
- 5/5
Morning goody bag at door was a welcome item. Room was comfortable and interesting retaining much of the original character of the building. Good location. Able to easily walk to Battery Park and Market Street with ease. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
Service was amazing! I love the eclectic room and the rooftop bar at sunset was a perfect ending to our night!
- 5/5
Stayed at the Enclave which is the more private part of the hotel and it was beautiful, the staff was top notch and fyi the room without the window is huge. well worth it very quiet for relaxing and this hotel is literally a half a block from the waterfront if not closer. Highly recommend it.
- 5/5
The location was great. The staff was very professional and helpful. The hotel had a great vibe. Everyone was so nice. It was Clean. It could use some carpet update. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location to amazing restaurants and the park! Super retro with a fabulous rooftop bar! Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Eclectic....fun lobby.....nice room...great location...super view from rooftop bar

Cannot recommend this stay enough. Was a perfect place to spend a 10th anniversary. Staff, location, couldn't have been any better.

The location was ideal! Able to walk to just about anything. Staff was fabulous! So very friendly & helpful. Especially the valet, Dillion. He was wonderful. Very genuine in his interactions. The whole team was really great. We would definitely stay there again. Very unique property. We loved the rooftop bar & cookies in the evening! If you want to submerge yourself in the true atmosphere of Charleston, this is a great place for you! Just book it!!
- 4/5
Staff was not really friendly or helpful.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Great location, beautiful building
- 2/5
Decor was fun, bed was comfortable. Lively lobby and friendly staff. However, our “Premier King” was in another building which was accessed through a stairwell and 2 awkward doorways. The carpet in our room had seen better days but was the most off putting was the offensive sewer smell in the bathroom at all times of the day. The same odor could be smelled at various other locations throughout the hotel from time to time but seemed at its worst in our room. We had a strange set of approx 5 steps leading to the bathroom and horrendous overhead almost fluorescent lighting in the bathroom. Additionally, the door in our bathroom did not close all the way which could be an issue for some guests. “Breakfast” was delivered in a large brown shopping bag and consisted of the exact same 2 croissants and 2 blueberry muffins each of our 3 days. We had been told that there would also be juice delivered however there was not. The baked goods were fine but more variety and more imaginative packaging could go a long way in guest satisfaction. An in-room mini fridge would also be a helpful addition. Customer service consisted of texts from management. We were offered a room change but after unpacking that didn’t seem appealing nor did the optimism of another room being all that much better. We will not be returning and I would not recommend!
- 5/5
Very beautiful hotel, great location, very friendly staff
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay very much - the staff was friendly and professional and accommodating when we had a small issue - the bagged breakfast, the welcome drinks and the baked goods all times of the day were nice touches. Decor is pretty all black and yellow. Location is fantastic
- 5/5
Unique look and feel. Quirky in a cool way. Accomodating staff. Did not provide for tea drinkers..lots of coffee.
- 2/5
at this price.... does not make sense
- 5/5
Clean comfortable room. Excellent, courteous and helpful staff.
- 5/5
All Vendue employees were friendly and helpful. Location is great, only one block from waterfront and the walking/running path. Great pub adjacent to hotel. Will staff there again
- 5/5
Great all around.
- 5/5
Loved the ambience & staff in the “Enclave” section of the Vendue Hotel. While a smaller more boutique feel it was a delightful experience for me & 4 ladies who each had separate & high quality rooms. The added touches of in room treats each nite & unexpected am treats at the door daily were much appreciated. The hotel location was great. Walkable to so many things & super close to the water park. The focus on local contemporary artist work throughout both sides of the hotel was a treat as well. I would Recommend for friends & couples trips for sure!
- 5/5
Awesome
- 5/5
Clean & quaint.
- 5/5
Nice property with unique layout. While I was offered the complimentary wine I declined. Super friendly staff!
- 3/5
Clean room, some shopping,
- 5/5
Great hotel, beautiful and comfortable. Very clean. Helpful and courteous staff. Lovely modern dining room, cozy but not cramped, excellent food and wine list. Short walk to everything: galleries, restaurants, theater, shops, museums. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Wonderful customer service. Went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. I love the brown bag breakfast on my door! And the macaroons in the evening!
- 4/5
Rooftop bar was great, Location was great
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms | Shops nearby | Rooftop
- 5/5
Very walkable area with some fun places to eat and fet drinks nearby. Hotel was nice with a great staff.
- 5/5
Nothing bad to say. We had an amazing stay!! The rooftop bar is a must see/do.
- 4/5
We were traveling with famly members that stayed across the street. I'm not sure why we were seperated. They have a few "extra" ammenities but possibly they paid more. We were a bit confused but it turned out to be fine.
- 5/5
Really interesting hotel, neat vibe. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Lots of interesting things going on and loved the nightly cookies and the daily French breakfast delivered to the room.
- 5/5
staff was amazing. Hotel is adorable. Amenities were fabulous. They had so many nice personal touches. I can’t remember the last time I experienced that level of quality service in a hotel.
- 5/5
Exceeded expectations as to being trendy for leisure travel. Artwork made significant statement. Staff on point for customer service. Hotel in heart of reason to visit Charleston - history, architecture, restaurants and shopping.
- 4/5
Great location and service, rooms could use some sprucing up with wear and tear
- 5/5
The Vendue and the Enclave were exceptional and so unique. We enjoyed our stay and the staff and the location of the hotel. The uniqueness of the hotel the floors and rooms were so great just had to stay there when I saw it as a choice when booking rather than a chain hotel.
- 5/5
NV eaitiful hotel. Great location. Great staff
- 4/5
This hotel definitely needs an upgrade. Rooms not in the best of condition. Creeky wooden floor was really annoying.Breakfast was nothing to speak about just a banana, apple and muffin delivered in a bag.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and very helpful. Location is ideal for exploring Charleston on foot. Rooftop lounge is great. I would highly recommend The Vendue.
- 5/5
Awesome hotel was wonderful location and nice staff
- 5/5
Everything was amazing!
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
My one comment is the lobby of the main hotel. The gallery they have created is not warm & inviting. Too bright with no comforting seating. Feels like an art gallery instead of a lobby. Not warm & inviting.
- 5/5
European feel in the heart of Charleston. We had a pleasant 2 night stay. Would definitely recommend
- 5/5
Amazing stay and staff. Had a wonderful experience and staff extremely helpful- Virginia and Harvey were wonderful.
- 5/5
Great location! Friendly staff, even served freshly baked cookies and milk every evening before bed!! Very comfortable beds! Most definitely will stay here again!!
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
Fabulous Art Hotel. Enjoyed everything about it!
- 5/5
Beyond the awesome location by the water and everything in the French Quarter, the service was exceptional. Free bikes to use, concierge, macarons on your pillow. Truly a fantastic experience all around. Cant forget the rooftop bar!
- 1/5
Been staying here 20 years or more. Not the best effort this time
- 4/5
Historic Art hotel. It was an adventure - not a typical hotel stay. Everyone there was exceptionally nice
- 5/5
Cleaning staff, valets, and front desk personnel were most kind, friendly and extremely hospitable. Tour of lobby's art exhibit was led by a woman (whose name escapes me) who arranged the exhibit and answered my many questions about each painting/ art piece and the artist who creeated it. The night manager, Gregory, was especially friendly and helpful to me on the night I arrived. We chatted at length.
- 5/5
We stay here often and it is a wonderful inn. The staff is superb. We love Harvey. He always goes out of his way. All of the staff are really great!
- 5/5
Everyone from The Vendue was so communicative and accommodating! The location was excellent and the art and rooftop bar were amazing. I would highly recommend staying here
- 5/5
Beautiful area and very convenient to everything we wanted to see.
- 5/5
The hotel was absolutely beautiful and such a unique experience. The staff was very friendly and the extra touches like the champagne at check in and bottle of wine for the room was such a nice touch. Would highly recommend the hotel.
- 5/5
The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly. Love the wine happy hour and art tour.
- 5/5
They happily took our bags and handed us a complimentary umbrella so we could explore the city without a hitch (which came in handy when the skies opened up later in the day). Just as we were starting to feel soggy and winding down at a bar nearby, we got the BEST call—our room was ready early and we’d been upgraded! From that moment on, it was pure bliss. The service was above and beyond. From complimentary breakfast and morning mimosas to daily afternoon wine tastings, every detail made us feel spoiled in the best way. And walking into the lobby late at night to find warm cookies and milk waiting? That sealed the deal. I’ve been to Charleston many times and had actually told myself this would be my last trip back—but now I’m already planning a return just to stay at The Vendue again. It was that good. 100000% recommend.
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing. The aesthetics were spot on and the staff was extremely friendly.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel with great artwork and wonderful staff.
- 5/5
The staff was excellent, always greeted with smiles, i love the small touches, the candy and cookie around the hotel, a fridge with cold water.its near every everything
- 5/5
Very knowledgeable staff and always willing to help you. Beautiful facility!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
This is my favorite place ever, and we will return!
- 5/5
Exceptional stay. Art hotel with memorable design and art pieces. Received a great champagne bottle and upgrade on the arrival. Highest marks for Nicholas at the front desk - made our stay even better with perfect local restaurant recommendations. Highest marks.
- 5/5
This is our 3rd time staying at the Vendue and we absolutely love it! Great location, vibe, service, and the coolest artwork!
- 5/5
One of the highlights was the rooftop bar, which offered incredible views and a fun atmosphere in the evenings. The location is perfect as well—right in the heart of Charleston, making it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. Overall, The Vendue provided the perfect mix of hospitality, comfort, and style. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston!
- 3/5
We checked in without issues. Greeted with welcome cocktail and free room upgrade. On our first night our toilet was broken and spraying water from the back at 10pm. We sat in the lobby while maintenance fixed it. After that we were woken up all night with a faulty HVAC that caused the AC to make an intermittent clicking sound. Needless to say we did not sleep well. In the morning we let the front desk lady know. She offered to upgrade and change the room, a complimentary dinner and a call to Expedia to get a refund on the first night as she agreed this was a huge disruption. We happily agreed that this was fair compensation. That evening when a change of staff happened the next staff member said that they would just honor the room change and a $50 credit as well as 2 free drinks. We spent quite some time discussing this issue as i explained this was not what was promised. To make a long story short we were given a new room and dinner for 2. I would not recommend Vendue and I have told people what happened. When something like a 100% disruption like this happens there should be more done than room upgrade and dinner. The original offer should have been offered as we ended up spending the next day napping to make up for the lost sleep which disrupted our vacation.
- 5/5
Took my wife on a surprise stay here for her birthday. Fantastic place to impress your spouse. Very friendly with great amenities, premiere location to really do anything of interest. Even though it was in a busy area of town it still felt very private. Highly recommend and would personally stay there again and again.
- 3/5
You can’t beat location. It was perfect to walk around and explore downtown. They had bikes we were able to use as well. But we were surprised to see how outdated some parts of the hotel wells and our room especially. We were upgraded for a small fee but the room was dirty and for that price point we were disappointed.
- 5/5
Beautiful property in prime location. Superb staff welcoming guests and ensuring a wonderful experience. The room was exquisite and spacious. Prosecco, milk and cookies, brownies, macaroons, beautiful art!
- 5/5
Note: If you desire a window be sure to choose an exterior located room.
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 4/5
We supposedly were upgraded to a room with a window (original reservation was without); however, we belatedly learned that the tradeoff was room size (#255 was really cramped). All rooms have their own configurations, so I would recommend inquiring as to size and location within the hotel.that being said, it is unique, upscale, well appointed and well located, and I would stay there again.
- 5/5
The staff was so accommodating and the people everywhere were so patient and helpful. Everything you want within walking distance and everywhere we ate was amazing!
- 4/5
enjoyed our weekend
- 5/5
The hotel itself is gorgeous. From the unique art throughout to the cozy, stylish rooms, everything had so much character. Plus the location couldn’t be better. It’s right in the heart of Charleston and within walking distance to everything. We already can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
Comfortable. Friendly. Staff was amazing!! Comfy bed! The welcome by staff was stellar! Plenty of dining around this hotel. Centeral to everything. VIP Treatment!
- 5/5
Awesome staff and room was top notch. Would highly recommend
- 5/5
This property is amazing, beautiful and the staff are beyond kind. The rooms and bedding are euphoric and the amenities/services were appreciated
- 5/5
What an amazing place to stay!! Everyone was so friendly !!
- 5/5
Love this place, such friendly staff. Not the most quiet with the rooms on the main level.
- 5/5
Our Stay was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The whole stay treated us like royalty. Had a great experience staying at The Vendue
- 5/5
The Customer Relations Staff is top notch!
- 5/5
The Vendue made the money you spend on your room worth it in many ways. The staff communicates with you every day and offers additional perks such as a daily art tour, special tastings, glasses of champagne/prosecco, and milk and cookies each day. We used the complimentary bikes one day to explore the city and had a great time. Our room was cleaned every day and towels replaced at least once per day. The artwork in the hotel was fascinating and the location could not be better. We were right on the waterfront! You can walk to anything in the downtown area from the Vendue. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Charleston!
- 5/5
The hotel was lovely. The room was clean, large, and very well-maintained. I love the decor.
- 5/5
Excellent location. The staff and hotel was impressive. Fred the artist is so kind, we really enjoyed him. Will definitely return.

Great location with excellent customer service. They check on you even before you arrive. Location is great for downtown Charleston. They have afternoon art tours in the hotel and a nice rooftop bar.

Aside from that, it was a lovely stay.

Loved it. Great location. Towels were scratchy.

A unique "art museum" hotel set in historic buildings in colonial Charleston, the Vendue offers a mix of great experiences and significant challenges. The price you pay for the historic location, excellent service, rooftop bar and quality restaurant includes significant challenges to mobility-impaired customers. The uneven floors, steep staircases and lack of railings can make it difficult to move around the property for some unaware customers.

Excellent hotel in great location with extra touches like mimosas in the lobby Saturday and Sunday, nightly cookies. The artwork is stunning and really adds to the ambiance.

Our experience at The Vendue was nothing short of incredible. A beautiful hotel in all ways especially the art studio and gallery. And plush rooms as well. Above all, the customer service was impeccable. So welcoming and sweet! Southern charm oozing and genuine.

Could not have been any better in celebrating our 30 th Wedding Anniversary! Eclectic pet welcoming property with a friendly and talented staff. By far, the most amazing hotel/art gallery, that has a clean hip romantic-vibe with a resident curator, a sommelier and great rooftop lounge—-awesome 3 nights and sure to return!

It was great

Friendly and welcoming check in!

The staff were nothing but helpful and kind. Despite the room issue, we had a fabulous time here. Talk to the art gallery curator and definitely spend some time at the rooftop bar and restaurant.

The staff were all friendly. They served coffee in the lobby every morning and champagne in the evening. They also left a little continental breakfast bag on you door each morning. We had a Queen room at the Enclave and, for the very high price, the room was extremely small.

Had issues with check in, ended up upgrading us to a room on the first floor which we didnt really like because with the windows open literally everyone can look in. The decor was artsy but kind of weird, all red and white. With the windows down for privacy, the room lacked lighting.

Great roofdeck, staff was very attentive

Great location within French Quarter—Easy walking to touristic points of interest, great dining options, and fun bars and lounges. Fantastic Property and Amenities—Comfortable rooms and public lounge areas; awesome artwork to enjoy; over-the-top amenities such as all-day Prosecco, morning goodies, afternoon goodies, and twice daily room cleaning/ towel changes; and incredible warm, friendly and caring staff. A big shout out to Sarah, Frank, Virginia, Jessica, and Harvey for making our stay at `The Enclave such fun.

We ended up going across the street where my credit card machine was not working correctly and charged me 3 times for incidentals that I wasn't made aware of. When we finally got checked in, the women who helped us was kind and showed us to our room; funny though, she even noted the musty smell upon entering. Did nothing. VIP Status was not honored, room was not as described, and the Art Galleries that were part of the attraction to the hotel were not available. The walls are very thin and the after party I believe was actually happening in the halls; woke us up for about 2 hours in the middle of the night, again nothing was done and it also didn't help that construction started at 7:00am and there was no notice of this either. "Free Breakfast" was 2 mini croissants, 2 mini muffins, a banana and an apple that they leave in a sack lunch on your door. I've stayed in all levels of hotels; from a Motel 6 to the Four Season and for the cost of a night here; I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I was expecting more than The Holiday Inn Perhaps because I was a last minute Hotels customer or because of the great location, they felt they didn't need to try, I don't know... but save your coins and pick somewhere else to stay!

We had an amazing stay which was extremely accommodating. I can not wait to come back. Perfect spot to be in the city

I love this hotel because it is unique and has a fabulous location. You can walk everywhere in Charleston. The only bummer is that the power went out at 9 p.m., so we were forced to go to bed earlier than we had wanted.

Fantastic stay! The staff is the best, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location - convenient to shopping, great restaurants and sights. We were very pleased with everything!!

The Vendue is gorgeous. An art gallery just footsteps away from my room. My room was always clean and well stocked. I adored the continental breakfast left right at my door.

We had to change rooms. The original room was so small you could barely fit a queen size bed.
- 5/5
Champagne at check in. Convenient valet parking. Excellent location-close to Waterfront park. Friendly staff. Spacious room and shower.
- 3/5
We we arrived we were directed to the Vendue building for check in saying our room had been moved. Why ?? Could this be a result of a 3rd party booking? -- AND the fact evelavtor in the main building was out of service during our entire stay. We had to walk up & down to our 3rd floor room. We were not offered any compensation for the inconvenince -- not even a drink or food credit at the bar. The staff is very friendly -- but did not express any concern about the inconvenience. We have stayed at the Vendue/Enclave may times and were most disappointed.

Lobby is beautiful and artwork is creative and funky. Rooftop bar was nice, bartender was great and food was good. The room well nice did have a musty smell to it and cleanliness was subpar.
