Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its excellent location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, there are some consistent complaints about the lack of modern amenities, issues with the rooms such as old furniture and low water pressure, and problems with the front desk staff being unhelpful or rude.

The staff was amazing, very accommodating, and was upfront about the construction. The only complaint I had was that the mini-fridge did not work. I also did not ask for them to fix it, so that's on me.

It's in a great location. But so is the nearby Hampton Inn. I reserved through Booking.com and so I wasn't aware there'd be noisy construction all day every day. The breakfast wasn't up to Hampton Inn standards. And the state-operated parking lot onsite has a sign saying there's a maximum fee of $21 per 24 hours, but I was charged $46 for 21 hours.

Everyone that works there seems miserable. The parking garage is NOT included and is $44 a day. The front desk just said “yea it’s a bit deceiving…”. There is ongoing construction to wake you up early. The shower was dirty and had mold / mildew growing. For the price you’d assume it would be nicer than other cheaper hotels available. Really only stay here if you’re looking for an indoor pool for kids, otherwise, go somewhere else.

When I raised this issue during my stay, I was assured by the manager, Nathan Foster, that a discount would be applied to my bill to compensate for the inconvenience. However, despite this promise, no discount has been reflected on my final invoice. I left my information with Juliet from the front desk and was promised a call back with a resolution. I have yet to receive a call. I am disappointed both by the disruption during my stay and by the failure to honor the resolution that was offered .

I was thinking I was going to get a renovated room! I was given instruction of how to get to my room, down a hallway, turn right into the next wing, etc. I passed through new carpet, freshly painted bright white walls, and nice lighting. My room was not in that section. My area was dark, not bright lighting, the shower had a busted pipe above the ceiling and was leaking through the ceiling (paint falling off and soaked backer board -- mold???) and the fire alarm was missing.

The staff was very nice and helpful. You can tell that part of the hotel is under construction, but the room looked exactly like the pictures. The rooftop bar was amazing—great food and a fun, unique experience. There were so many beers and hard ciders on tap, along with liquor and wine, plus games available to play. Breakfast the next morning was well stocked and never ran out.

The manager, valet was very informative, gentleman that checked us in. He even walked us to our room cause we got lost. When we did not have hot water & requested to change to another room lady at desk with mid length hair told me we will not change to another room 3 times no matter what cause we do not want to inconvenience the cleaning lady to clean an Xtra room. I am requesting a refund, I did report this to manager next morning. I can jot believe that lady said that to me. Shower had to be on all the way hot to take a shower never hot water.

The room we stayed in felt like we were in a closed in box. The view out all 3 windows was the top of the building and you could not see anything. Felt very claustrophobic and like we were trapped in a submarine.

Our room had a bit of a mildew smell, and our coffee maker in room didn't work.
- 2/5
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The main lobby was clean and the breakfast was enjoyable. We walked in our room and it smelled of mold and dampness that caused us to ga upon walking into the room. While showering, the water leaked out and made a 1/4 in puddle covering the bathroom floor, and made its way into the mirror area and onto the carpet. We were asked if we had a “water fight”, jokingly I believe, when maintenance helped us clean it up. And they suggested that the shower head was pointed incorrectly.
- 4/5
Breakfast was really good!! the shower gel bottle in the shower was empty and not refilled during daily room cleaning but could easily be remedied by housekeeping staff remembering the check the bottles
- 4/5
The check-in process was very easy. Front desk, concierge staff were wonderful and the breakfast was good. The cleaning staff did not do a good job with the room. Our room was not cleaned for one day despite multiple requests to the front desk. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and the room was not vacuumed. Disappointing!

It was good, lots of choices; just not a fan of the French toast The bathroom seemed outdated in our bedroom.

Staff support was good. I was not notified the property is under renovation and required a long walk to get to the room completely across the hotel. The “breakfast” is absolutely the worst excuse for food I have ever endured. I stay at this hotel periodically and it has always been awkward but this combination is unacceptable.

FYI: please note there is a distinction between Hyatt House & Hyatt Place, which you have booked while determine how far of a hike from the elevator to your room is. Appears this property is being renovated in stages. Just something to keep in mind. There is no microwave in the room (maybe I misread when reserving) but there is one in the lobby. The stay did not meet expectations, as our sleep was interrupted 2 mornings in a row due hours of constant noise (drilling is my best guess) occurring within the hotel near are room. Called it in to the front desk, was gaslit and told there was no drilling or work going on in the hotel—the likely source (per the front desk person) is construction at a nearby building. He refused to validate my concern, directed me to call back if it continues. Called back a while later and spoke with a manager, who said he’d send someone to check it out. There was no follow up. At check out, told them the stay was not good due to the noise. No action was taken on their end. This level of service is a missed opportunity. Prob won’t return.

Staff were friendly. I did make a note at checkout the 2nd floor where I was staying when you got off the elevator you were hit with a smell of mold like maybe they shampooed the carpets with a dirty solution…it was terrible and went the entire hallway. We had a fire alarm pulled at 2:00 am and they evacuated the entire hotel. That was a bit rough.

This hotel is located in a walkable area where they have a lots of dining and shopping options within minutes. The rooms could be maintained a little better especially bathrooms. One of the evenings our room reeked of gas, it was almost nauseating. The receptionist told us that it is because of food trucks, but we did not see any food trucks in the area. She promised us to look for a different room, but she never got back to us.

Great location on King Street, but the hotel is currently under renovation and the rooms feel dated. While the breakfast selection was excellent, the dining area was too cramped for the number of guests. The pool is large, but unfortunately, the chlorine levels were so high they caused skin irritation for my children. Additionally, the parking is overpriced and misleading; they charge per calendar day rather than a 24-hour cycle. For example, staying from 4 PM to 11 AM cost us $48. Between the old rooms and the hidden costs, I would not recommend this hotel.

We liked staying at the Hyatt Place Charleston/Historic District for many reasons. Parking was literally right across the courtyard! The hot breakfast each morning started each day well & we enjoyed the hot coffee too. The hotel is located right off King Street which has restaurants, shops & many retail stores to browse. We also were located close to the CARTA shuttle bus stop which is a free service offered to all. Most times we walked; however sometimes you need to ride so we used the shuttle bus when our bodies yelled "rest"!

Me and my 4 colleagues stayed here for the week for work and have all gradually developed a sore throat that worsened with each day. One of my colleagues had inspected their room air filter only to see it completely black and matted with dust. Granted, we all flew/drove in from different parts of the country and don't work in the same departments. So for all of us to be suffering with intense allergies, a bad sore throat/cough and getting sick by the end of our trip makes us not want to stay here again.

No reception open in Hyatt Place so check in and check out is at Hyatt House reception. The hallway carpets to our room on the 5th floor were badly stained and had a lot of dirty marks. The room itself too had stains on the pull out sofa and the bedroom carpet .The footstool had a chunk missing out of one corner of it. Furniture too had a few chips out of them. Rooms definitely need upgrading. Housekeeping was great daily cleaning and fresh towels provided and beds were freshly made every day. Beds were very comfortable but could have done with extra covers as it felt cold at nighttime. Good choice of breakfast items. It got a bit chaotic after 8:30am as two hotels where using one breakfast area as Hyatt Place Kitchen/Dining area wasn’t open due to renovations so everyone has to useHyatt House. All staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a handy little shop next to Hyatt House reception where snacks etc could be purchased. Nice little outside area at the front with seating and a fire pit. Hotels are situated in a great position for shops and bars etc Free Bus picks up nearby to go to other areas of Charleston . We didn’t hire a car as found getting around easy with buses and taxis.

Apartments need remodeling. Rugs need to go in rooms and corridors. There are things that are not cleaned in the bathroom like the glass door. Overall, hotel needs an update. Breakfast area a big disaster. Too many guests for a small place. A fiasco. I left a day earlier and will not go back.

The room was near the stairs and construction was going on leaving sleeping in not an option. The breakfast fast was pretty good. The meat options could have been more varied.

1. Finding hotel was difficult- they need better signage. 2. showers had a handheld sprayer- time to upgrade bathrooms. 3. Rooms were a nice size but boring colors/rugs- need redecorating other than that it was quiet and bed was comfy- liked having the couch in there

Totally enjoyed my stay at Hyatt House Historic District with the exception of not having bedding in the closet for the sofa bed. We were too tired to ask for someone to bring us some. With the exception of that, everything else was enjoyable for my family and I.
- 5/5
Great hotel and location! Walkable to most places and suited our needs! Would stay again!
- 4/5
Great location, parking has room for improvement. I need my receipt
- 2/5
Toilet ran all night, reserved a king room but was given a double bed. This was apparently due to booking through Expedia over booking the hotel. Would be great to know beforehand.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing and the room was great. The only issue was the water pressure in the shower. Which was nonexistent.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt… The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the breakfast was wonderful.
- 5/5
Everything was fine, both valet and receptionist courteous and helpful. Great that there's a public parking right in the courtyard.
- 1/5
I made this booking thru Expedia 2 months before travelling. I was assigned room 501. Per custom we went to check the room out before bringing our luggage in. The floor of the shower stall was extremely dirty with mildew in much of tile grout and perimeter of the base. I cannot sleep in a room with this kind of dirt. At a minimum I'm looking for accommodation that is clean and safe. Staff was not understanding of issue and said they had no other rooms to assign. Hotel and Expedia have been unwilling to refund payment.
- 5/5
Clean spacious room. Helpful courteous staff. Very nice complimentary breakfast. Well stocked refreshments shop.
- 5/5
Great hotel!!
- 5/5
The room was great. The staff was amazing! The location was perfect. We loved the free breakfast. We would definitely come back again!
- 4/5
The location on King St. is great, the rooms are quiet and the staff is very friendly. I have the room a four star as our specific room had some issues: the outlet in our bathroom did not work, the toilet kept running, the bathroom door was falling off the hinge and we had to call maintenance to fix the a/c. This was my fourth time staying here and the only time I had an issue with the room.

Clean and spacious room. Decent breakfast. Difficult to sleep past 8am due to noise in the hallway each morning
- 4/5
Nice location and very walkable.

We stayed here for a girls trip and had THE best time! The hotel is in a great location and easy to walk around. The staff was beyond friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Not to mention, our room was huge! Perfect for 4 gals!
- 4/5
The breakfast menu was sub-par. The selections were few and the quality could be better. The room was fine.

Great time
- 3/5
Excellent location, well priced. Both time I have stayed here I have been given bad keys to room and this time was sent to an occupied room - staff seemed totally disinterested I had to return to the desk two times to get a room key but best price in along
- 3/5
Breakfast was delicious, and staff was friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Farther from some shopping and dining.
- 3/5
Coffee was good!
- 4/5
Need to improve breakfast food.
- 4/5
The only downfall was the parking. The valet young man was terrible and completely disorganized so we switched to self parking. And wasn’t aware that parking was another $50 each day.
- 5/5
We stay here whenever we come in town. Clean friends and walkable
- 5/5
Great service, excellent location, comfortable rooms
- 5/5
The front desk was awesome. They knew it was our first time and gave us a bridge view. Really solid place to stay because you can walk anywhere!
- 5/5
Great view from high floor category
- 5/5
Love this hotel
- 4/5
Great staff. The hotel is a bit tired.
- 5/5
The staff was excellent!
- 5/5
A friendly and helpful staff - A comfortable room - A great location - A reasonable price.
- 5/5
Iron & ironing board was useful. Everything else was good. Some shouting from other rooms though.
- 5/5
Nice room. Very large and comfortable. Hotel was nice but a little bit of a walk to everything
- 2/5
Had to change rooms 5 times. Toilets not working had to keep asking for bath towels , face towels. Pull out bed never opened it made a loud noise every time you sat on it. Maid never straightened out sheets used. Sofa’ in all rooms were badly stained. One queen bed had a piece of spring sticking out the side of bed. Would never recommend this hotel and was embarrassed to pick this hotel as a birthday present for my sister. Bar only open every other day, the roof top bar called Pour was great for beer drinkers but to get a cocktail not good at all,,cold food at buffet breakfast. Really a disaster. If I could have changed hotels I would have but nothing was available.
- 5/5
Very clean and spacious room. Great location on King st, with several restaurants, bars and shops in easy walking distance.
- 3/5
Shower pressure was very very poor. Could not take a shower.
- 4/5
Great hotel in the heart of Charleston. Excellent breakfast offerings every morning. Staff was especially friendly and helpful. Rooms were very quiet. I’d stay here again and use their valet parking instead of the city parking garage.
- 2/5
Our room's air conditioning was broken. I called down to have someone come up. They came right away and cleaned the dirty filter. He said if it didn't cool down to call back to the front desk. It was getting cooler (dropped from 78 to 74) so it did feel better. I woke up in the middle of the night to the room back up to 78. It was too late to call for service since my young daughter was sleeping and I didn't want a man coming into our room late at night to fix the air. I talked to the front desk in the morning and they apologized for the inconvenience but nothing was done to compensate. Also, parking was $49 a night - a bit pricey after the two night stay in a hot room.
- 4/5
Nice hotel. The rooms were nice. The hotel could use a little updating in the hallways. Great location, easy walk to the visitors center and waterfront.
- 3/5
No microwave front staff not friendly Bathroom very outdated Only plus shopping on king street!
- 4/5
It was in a GREAT location though so that makes up for the very average experience.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, great breakfast, helpful staff, very walkable
- 4/5
The location is great and rooms were clean. However, the rooms at this location are out dated and not as nice as other Hyatt Place's I have stayed at. Apparently they are about to undergo a renovation so hopefully the rooms will be brought up to par with other Hyatt Place properties.
- 5/5
Great location and great price. Very helpful service.
- 5/5
The property is not luxurious but very clean, very convenient and reasonably priced. The staff was responsive and friendly.
- 4/5
Breakfast left a bit to be desired. All frozen fruit only sweet plain yogurt and high sugar packaged cereal. The evening buffet was good also the dinner on Thursday evening.
- 5/5
Great location, walking distance to everything! Great property! Friendly staff.
- 1/5
My father's door to the room would not open and he was given a hard time about the key to the room
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Quiet. Good location.
- 4/5
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, the staff are friendly. We had one small problem with the A/C and it was fixed promptly while we were out. There is a small bar, and complementary breakfast. It's not the hotel to spend a great deal of time in, but as a base to explore Charleston it was great.

- 5/5
Very accommodating, perfect stay, great location, no complaints!
- 2/5
Two front desk people. The man working the front desk awesome. The lady must have been having a bad day she was exceptionally rude
- 4/5
The location was perfect! King St. was literally at our front door—access to restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. I’m sure this is out of the hotel’s control, but maybe the City of Charleston should reserve the first or last two floors for hotel guests and the remainder be for public parking. However, parking in the garage was easy.
- 5/5
good location, clean and easy

- 5/5
Great location! Parking is extra.
- 5/5
Great and friendly staff. Conveniently located!
- 5/5
The staff took their time with you and were very helpful.
- 3/5
Quiet for the most part. Barking dog down the hall was unnecessary.
- 5/5
Breakfast was amazing!!
- 3/5
The door to our bathroom had been removed. We were told no extra rooms to move us. But thanks for letting us know. They could have cared less.
- 5/5
Great staff. Nice room. A sketchy dirt lot on the backside of the property. Besides that a great visit.
- 1/5
Booked a king room and got put in a double queen room and no one did anything about it even though I complained multiple times. Talked to Expedia and the hotel, was told by both of them that the other was lying about why I couldn’t move to my correct room. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate
- 4/5
It would be nice if Hyatt Place had a few more options on the property for adding another restaurant option.
- 5/5
Great loacation virtually walkable to everything in charleston downtown. A/c worked great, super comfortable. Bfast was better than most included breakfast.
- 5/5
Staff was the most exceptional Food option (breakfast ) just om
- 5/5
Check-in was easy and very timely for us. Your front desk staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
- 3/5
Would have been better if we had been told in advance that there was no on-site parking. The extra $50 per night for parking messed up my buget. Just because if the parking, we will not be staying here again.
- 5/5
Nice spacious hotel, large walk in shower, convenient breakfast on premises
- 5/5
Clean and fun
- 3/5
We were greeted immediatly and offered free waters. Breakfast was good. Parking is expensive. We went to the pool to see brown clumps on the steps. We were not sure if it was poop, but looked exactly like it. We immediately told the front desk to be told they would take care of it. 3 hours later, it had not been cleaned. We came back the next day and there were still reminents there. The bed was awful and the shower head was extremly low. It was suppose to rain the last day so we decided to go home a day early since we didnt feel comfortable there. 10 hour drive home a day early was not what we had planned. We will definitely be finding somewhere else to stay next time.
- 3/5
The breakfasts are pedantic at best. They don’t even offer regular Raisin Bran. Or, alternative milks. Just Motel 6 food. The staff was excellent and most made everyone’s stay easier. The hotel is old and tired. It needs updating especially based upon the obnoxious nightly charges.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 4/5
Overall it was a good stay, convenient walk to different locations.
- 5/5
This is a great location.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
The location was good; however I didn't find many restaurants close to hotel with a variety menu. There were many pubs/bars nearby.
- 5/5
Great room, easy parking, and walkable to visitor center.
- 5/5
Was a great experience
- 4/5
Staff needs to smile more! Place was nice good location walking distance from shopping
- 3/5
An average stay, the only bad thing was the shower was a trickle only. Everything else was at a good standard with good staff.
- 5/5
Front desk and bar staff was excellent
- 3/5
Room was nice and big. Breakfast was horrible. No roper restaurant to eat at. Housekeeping did not come everyday.
- 5/5
The best! Easy to find and easy to get out and back on the highway. Parking was right there! Staff was so nice and welcoming. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Easy walk to the Music Hall. Live music in a lot of the pubs. Best hotel experience in a while.
- 5/5
Comfortable accommodations, convenient location, excellent fitness room, top notch service!
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Property is good but needs more updating
- 5/5
Hotel was clean and comfortable. A little difficult to locate.
- 3/5
The AC in our room took forever to cool, also the shower head was not good as well
- 5/5
We stayed at the Hyatt Place in the historical district in Charleston. I researched a lot of places and noticed the great reviews at this hotel, and it was affordable! It did not disappoint! It was conveniently located on King Street so we were able to walk to several places. They also had a valet service that we used when we needed our car, and they were always very prompt in getting our vehicle. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and gave us cold bottled water after a hot day of being out on King Street. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, great staff!
- 5/5
We had a great weekend stay! The hotel provided excellent accommodations and the staff was always friendly!
- 4/5
The parking is absolutely crazy after what you pay a night.
- 5/5
Great, clean hotel nestled in a popular dining area, I recommend a high floor option for views of the Cooper River Bridge.
- 5/5
Got in pretty early, thought we wood have to wait a few hours before checking in. Staff was able to check us in immediately. Such a nice surprise.
- 5/5
Nice stay!
- 4/5
The only problem we had was that the room lock did not work. So the room could not be locked. I reported this to the front desk. However, it was never fixed during our stay!
- 5/5
The place’s design is updated and the room, with the partition, was perfect for our family. Complimentary buffet was also great.
- 4/5
Parking was expensive as the hotel does not own the lot
- 1/5
Our shower had an empty bottle of body wash hanging on the wall, pubic hair in the shower and our room was very damp; maybe because of no fan in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Very friendly and clean property.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
We loved the hotel, they offered a good breakfast.
- 3/5
Unusual hotel, seemed to be 2 hotels combined. Large rooms which was great but fairly average style and perhaps in need of a little love and effort
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms and property, decent breakfast.
- 4/5
The drop off area is hard to navigate. The valets were not helpful. We wanted to valet for the two nights but they did not offer to help when we pulled up. No help with our luggage. The hotel luggage racks were hard to come by. Checking out took 20 minutes to get a luggage rack. Inside hotel staff were great
- 5/5
The staff was so amazing and accommodating
- 3/5
I will also say getting in the hotel area was a bit of a cluster!!!! The food at the roof top bar was meh….
- 4/5
Problems with water in room. Only hot water in shower he restaurant on roof top was no good,
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was great. Hotel was clean; breakfast was provided and the staff was so helpful. Walkable area to shopping and dining.
- 4/5
Staff was not very friendly or
- 2/5
Our reservation was for 2 queens. Upon arrival we were put in a king bed room. When talking to the manager she argued with me that is not what I booked and paid for. After going back and forth with Expedia on the issue, the property manager would not give us the refund for the price difference as the Queen beds were more expensive than the king bed. The location was great, but property management was terrible!!
- 5/5
This location on King Street is perfect. The enclosed Rooftop brewery was a perfect place to hang out after a day of exploration of Old Charleston and the surrounding beaches. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was superb, and the valet service was fast and courteous. What could be better? Nothing!
- 5/5
Our two night stay was great! Staff was very helpful and friendly !
- 5/5
Easy to walk city, felt safe, rooms clean. Breakfast well staffed.
- 4/5
Reduced parking options is a negative. Otherwise great stay!
- 4/5
Conveniently located. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel. But Located in college party area.
- 4/5
We traveled to Charleston on a girls trip. The hotel was nice, breakfast was fine but parking was crazy expensive and misleading. We decided to park in the parking deck beside the hotel instead of valet. When we got our car the following morning, we had to pay for 2 days ($48) even though it was overnight only. We realized that at 12 you’re charged for an entire day. Once we left to drive to dinner, our day started again and we had to pay another $24+! We ended up spending a small fortune on parking and the weather did not permit us to walk everywhere.
- 5/5
Great place in central area
- 4/5
Great location on king street and lots of good restaurants in walking distance
- 1/5
I don’t write reviews often, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience at the Hyatt in downtown Charleston. For the amount I paid for a one-night stay, I expected far better service and accommodation. Unfortunately, I was left extremely disappointed. I arrived 30 minutes before the 4:00 PM check-in time after being caught in heavy rain and was completely soaked. I politely asked if it would be possible to check in a little early due to the circumstances. I was told I could either take a different room (a one-bedroom) or sit in the lobby with all of my wet luggage and wait to check into the two-bedroom suite I had already reserved and paid for. I was not asking for an upgrade or special treatment—just a bit of understanding and flexibility. Instead, I was met with rigid policies and no willingness to accommodate a very reasonable request. I left feeling like my comfort and experience as a guest did not matter, and I will not be staying here again. I also would not recommend this hotel to others based on this disappointing experience.
- 3/5
The water pressure in the shower was awful. They had a shortage of towels.
- 3/5
Sheena was AMAZING!!! She made our stay wonderful! The complaint we have is the bedding. The pillows were flat like pancakes and hard, the blankets were hard and uncomfortable. They need to revamp and get new bedding. We just got to Savannah and staying at a Staybridge in historic district and what a difference WONDERFUL bedding for $60 plus free parking and parking at the Hyatt $50/day Crazy!!!
- 5/5
Pleasant stay. Love the rooftop restaurant
- 4/5
All in all a nice stay. My issue is woth the breakfast offered. Why only paper cups - tea in a paper cup is gross. Also 1 or 2 heart healthy options would be nice. A hard boiled egg, toast & paper cup tea was a dismall start. And the stay was not cheap.
- 5/5
Front desk, Dining & Valet Staff were super attentive, courteous and professional in attending to Guests.👌❣️
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
Very nice.
- 5/5
Excellent property and value. Excellent lication.
- 2/5
They charge a $75 pet cleaning fee to stay in a dirty room. They was human hair all over the carpet and table. One elevator was broken during check out. The view is of some dirt behind the hotel. And to be pet friendly there is nowhere to walk your dog that doesn't look like a scene from the apocalypse. And the hallways to your room is 100 degrees.
- 5/5
I like that the hotel is situated in the heart of the Charleston /Historic District? The Valet parking was very convenient but a little steep in cost for one night at $60 added to the room cost.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and friendly environment!!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel with good breakfast. Staff very helpful.
- 5/5
Front desk staff very kind, cheerful, helpful. Breakfast great. Room great.
- 5/5
The over night stay was very comfortable. Staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend the Hyatt Place for your next trip.
- 3/5
The location of the property was great but the property itself is quite dated. The walls are so thin that i heard the specific conversation people in the hallway were having from my room.
- 5/5
Nicely located, very thing is very well maintained.
- 3/5
The price for parking is outrageous. We spent $49 for about 20 hours. The complimentary breakfast contained many options. However, everything was tepid to cold. Very unappetizing.
- 5/5
Breakfast every morning is nice!! The location is awesome!
- 5/5
Super friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Place smelled great. Huge rooms. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very comfortable rooms. Bed and pillows were great. Excellent breakfast was provided. Locales very convenient, right in the historic district.
- 5/5
Location could not be better The staff is very friendly and help full Caleb , the valer park guy is the best
- 4/5
Rooftop bar was nice....bartenders were friendly. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was cold each morning which was disappointing. Shower needs updating and water was cold one of the four mornings. Valer parking is managed by an outside company...expensive and they did jot lock our car doors. Luckily, our car send us a notice when the doors are unlocked so we contacted the valet to rectify it. Location was convenient to shops, bars, and restaurants but be prepared to walk.
- 5/5
Nice, convenient and easy parking in garage. Enjoyed my stay and would stay shain!
- 4/5
Very nice property, subpar front desk service, not very attentive, and not so great attitude
- 3/5
No microwave, bathroom door didn't shut all the way. Parking, should not have to pay to park !!! Not 118 dollars for 4 nights! Refrigerator never got cold! The breakfast was very good!
- 1/5
I booked my stay through Expedia. The day of the stay, I called to see if it was okay if we checked in later than the website said, and I was told that my reservation was nowhere to be found in their system. Long story short, the hotel was not accommodating at all and had to find a new place to stay at the very last minute.
- 3/5
Rooms were not the cleaniest
- 5/5
Loved everything about this hotel
- 5/5
Centrally located and had parking valet
- 5/5
Hotel was fine; staff friendly
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay. Very nice hotel. Front desk not too friendly and coffee was definitely not good. Way too strong and bitter. Hotel had two different sides and was not informed which side elevators were on when we arrived.
- 1/5
Between Expedia and the Hyatt Charleston, Historic, they cancelled my reservation an hour before I arrived at the hotel to check-in, 3:45 on May 1st, well before the normal 4:00pm check in time. I and my wife stayed one night at the hotel and then had to find alternate accommodations in a very busy graduation, wedding, conference weekend at considerable inconvenience. I plan on pursuing my legal options.
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
It was a very nice hotel, convenient for shopping, dining and sight seeing.
- 5/5
Everyone was really nice. Highly recommend the Hyatt house. No free parking on premises. You either pay underground parking at hotel or valet park which to me was the easiest. Tyler the valet guy was so very nice and helpful.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The staff is always amazing! So nice to walk in and be greeted with a smile. They go above and beyond to make sure all your needs and expectations are met. The rooms are clean and AC works great. Fantastic breakfast also.
- 3/5
The outside fire pit was nice and so was the roof top bar, but I wish it had better views. The staff was not helpful when we inquired about tours, sightseeing or transportation. We had no soap in our bathroom and we had to request some several times, before receiving it.
- 2/5
Slow check in. Slow valet. Wrong room. Attitude at counter. Generally poor service.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet served every morning had a good variety to choose from. There was a stop for the free bus within a short walking distance. There are a few nearby restaurants, but you have to walk a bit to find the best variety of food and shopping. This hotel is in the “bar district” so I would recommend staying more in the middle of the historic district if you want to be closer to shopping, restaurants and the waterfront. The only other complaints I have are that one of the elevators was out of order the whole week we were there, and the lighting in the bathroom and by the full length mirror was not conducive to putting on makeup or fixing hair.
- 4/5
Nice stay
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Although a spacious room, the hot water was broken for part of our stay and despite being told we would be compensated, we were not. In addition to that, the AC was broken and stuck on 76 degrees all night. The toilet was also broken and continued to run. Despite calling the front desk, they essentially told us there was nothing to be done. Will not stay again.
- 3/5
No water, low toliet pressure
- 4/5
Everything was nice. We were a little disappointed in the food. It was only average. Everything was nice, and the staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Check in was easy and Shanna at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful
- 4/5
The place was great except for the shower. There was barely any pressure and little hot water. We did choose not to complain at the hotel as we didn't want anyone in our room checking things.
- 5/5
Excellent experience with a nice room
- 4/5
Very nice hotel, very clean and staff very helpful.
- 3/5
Shower water pressure was horrible.
- 2/5
We had to call 3 times to get air conditioner fixed then after replacing the entire unit (which worked great) we had no water to take a shower …checked out next day …
- 5/5
other than the entryway getting very crowded with cars, the place is lovely.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent.
- 4/5
One of the best trips and nicer hotels we’ve stayed at staff was great and place was clean
- 3/5
Food was ok at breakfast. Closed early ran out of fruit. Staff were not very briefed on the area, which was disappointing for a tourist town

Great breakfast!!
- 4/5
The property was well kept. The only issue we had was the chairs all seemed lower than we would have preferred.
- 3/5
Location was good but restaurant family style would have been better . Tv connection issues
- 4/5
Great location on King Street!
- 5/5
Property was very nice and staff were very helpful. Highly Recommended!
- 4/5
Breakfast was good. Property clean. Helpful workers. Good location. Would definitely recommend the property.
- 5/5
Wonderful location and great amenities
- 4/5
Hard to find if you are not familiar with the location. Valet service was good but expensive
- 3/5
No housekeeping. No fresh towels
- 4/5
Disinfectant smell too strong.
- 1/5
Hotel was sold out so they had to move me to lesser property and refused to refund my stay.
- 3/5
Check-in rep was not very welcoming at the beginning. Pretty sure he noticed with my body language and then was nice. Didn’t have enough towels called front desk to request a towel it never came. The hotel needs some love. Reps that do the rooms were nice. Best part is location.
- 5/5
Great hotel in decent location. Only issue is parking costs are outrageous and resets each night at midnight to maximize charging you.
- 3/5
Had to move to another hotel on the property
- 5/5
Great Place to stay
- 3/5
The hotel is tucked away, between two buildings, just off the main street. You can valet park or use the parking garage in the hotel square.

Great

Great property with so many amenities and easy access to Charleston!
- 5/5
Welcoming, quick service for any needs, kind staff, clean and cozy. The breakfast options were great! Location was great for nightlife and shopping on Kings. It was a bit of a walk to the market and waterfront park, however, walking does the soul good!
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay when traveling with kids. They loved the pool and the breakfast every morning was clutch. Our tv didn’t work when we got there and they fixed it for us right away. The property was super convenient, quiet, and clean. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
overall nice experience
- 3/5
Accessibility to shopping and other transportation
- 4/5
Overall we had a really nice stay. Awesome location and the free breakfast was a big plus! We had an issue with check in where we arrived at 4:30 but our room was not ready yet, which was a letdown given that we were traveling with a toddler.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 3/5
When we arrived the phone did not work, the toilet seat was loose (I fixed), the toilet flush handle was loose (I fixed), and the shower was not cleaned as well as it should have been. The guide on the tv never worked so you had no idea what was on any channel unless you picked each one individually. The staff was pleasant and the valet was prompt. The breakfast was just ok. Not really worth the price we paid per night.

We booked our stay at the Hyatt through Expedia, a third party. We received a confirmation email; however, when we arrived at the Hyatt we were told that our reservation was canceled by Expedia. The hotel was completely booked. The people checking in behind also had the same problem. We were forced to call several hotels before finding another one and eventually spent three times more than we were planning on accommodations.
- 5/5
Our stay was very good, the breakfast was great and room was clean and comfortable. We had a great time!
- 4/5
Great location!
- 5/5
We visit Charleston frequently and have stayed here several times. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The hotel is walking distance to shopping and numerous bars and restaurants and the self-park garage is very convenient. We will stay again on a future visit.
- 4/5
Good clean place, at one end of Kings road which is the main shopping / dining area. Breakfast is good. Spacious room. On kings road, parking is nit free
- 5/5
We loved how spacious our room was!
- 4/5
The TV had major screen issues. There was a matrix of dots in the middle of screen. We did try to watch a movie, but it was terrible. Room 509. We ‘lost the signal’ several times while watching Nickelodeon- not even streaming. We couldn’t get the temperature below 72, which is too warm for sleeping

Good location. Was a little disappointed requested items that I did not receive.

Old

We were there for 4 nights our room was only serviced twice
- 4/5
But the door to my unit didn’t close all the way to the latching point automatically. So when I returned from work one of the days, The door just opened when I leaned on it. I mentioned it to the staff, and I’m sure it will get fixed quickly.

Fun stay to celebrate our 50th anniversary! Cameron, the maintenance man, was especially helpful and kind in arranging a quick and necessary room change. All staff was extremely friendly and efficient.
- 5/5
Incredible helpful front desk staff. Great breakfast! Housekeeping staff also very friendly.
- 5/5
This was a great hotel in an excellent location near shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Property was clean, service was excellent, walkable eith many food choices.
- 4/5
Several things... one it would have been nice to receive a discount for parking or been given notice we had to pay for parking. Second having children run through the halls at all hours making noise and slamming doors isn't welcome. Lastly our room over looked the U-Haul parking lot so at 4:30 in the morning you hear backing up noises - not good!
- 5/5
great location
- 5/5
Very Nice , clean beds were good
- 5/5
While not a huge deal, the sports (ESPN) and business channels (CNBC) were not available for viewing. Screen kept saying "No signal". Also probably the most important channel (The TV Guide) also was not ever available!! Please get these TV issues fixed!!
- 5/5
Staff very friendly and professional. Facility excellent
- 4/5
It was nice being downtown and being able to walk to all the shops and restaurants. When we went to the bar it took awhile to get service, but the drinks were okay.
- 4/5
The room service did not make the bed, but did rreplace used towels.
- 4/5
It was a great experience. Our TV was broken and kept glitching which is only down fall of whole stay. Great location! We will def be back!
- 5/5
All of the staff encountered were top of the line! Very polite and helpful!! We had a wonderful stay and will return here.
- 4/5
Front desk Staff was not professional and the security girl was absolutely crazy. Great location for hotel but needs to be cleaned better and night staff needs a better attitude.
- 5/5
Would definitely stay here again. Employees were kind and attentive. Everything was extremely clean. Rooms could use some sprucing up, but overall fantastic stay!
- 4/5
The parking situation needs to be MUCH clearer. I feel the staff should had said that the pricing in garage is very misleading. I ended paying more than 40$ a day and the sign on building says parking will not exceed 24$ a day. The parking is not part of their property and you know it’s a problem because they handed me a piece of paper after the fact that I need to speak to the city
- 4/5
The hotel itself doesn’t have many food options and only grab and go in the lobby or a rooftop beed bar.
- 5/5
Stay was great.
- 5/5
It was perfect for our weekend trip and almost everything was in walking distance that we wanted to go to!
- 4/5
Just a little dated, overall seemed clean but just a little out dated as far as furnishing.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay with Hyatt. It was in a great location and walkable to many restaurants/shops. The staff were pleasant and the rooms were nice. The rooftop bar was our favorite part of the stay. The beer selection was excellent, and it had a good vibe.
- 4/5
The best part of this property was the convenient location.
- 3/5
Ac wouldn’t get it below 75 in the room first nite some girls were partying and extremely loud until 5 am nobody at the hotel cared to do anything about it.
- 5/5
We travel to Charleston 5-6 times per year for business and to visit family/friends as well. This was our first time staying at the Hyatt Place and we will return! The parking garage is located immediately adjacent to the hotel which is great. The hotel is steps away from the great restaurants on upper King but because it is set back off of King it is quiet. The staff was very friendly, professional and helpful.

Excellent location
- 5/5
Perfect location, great hotel. Complimentary Breakfast is great as well.
- 2/5
Mold in the vents, house keeping did not replace toilet paper or towels, and didn’t throw away garbage. The location was nice but the hotel it self was not pleasant.
