Reviews
Hotel Bella Grace is a modern, clean, and well-located hotel with friendly staff. However, some guests have expressed concerns about the high cost, lack of amenities, and parking issues.
- Modern and clean rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- High cost for value
- Lack of amenities (e.g., breakfast, laundry service)

Cute boutique hotel with nice little kitchen in room. Only complaint was they didn’t refill coffee pod when cleaning room. Definitely worth the price and will stay again

The location was very good for walking and the room reasonably appointed. Front desk staff was adequate but mostly indifferent. The room rates probably spiked for Spoleto (which I was not there for) but the value was not good: No in house food service (restaurant next door, no breakfast doesn't count), no frills in bathroom (lack of hooks, facial mirrors) and unimpressive towels. It's almost like Marriott took a charming hotel (which I'm guessing it once was) and plucked the soul out of it.

I did pay extra (only $1) for a suite but I received a regular king instead but considering the nominal difference in price it was not a problem.

One of our favorite touches was being offered sparkling wine each evening. It was within walking distance to every thing in town. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston!

the hotel is gorgeous, a lot of art and beautifully designed. The room was specious, spotless clean and well maintained and equipped. Staff was kind and personal, easy and quick check in and out. Recommended!! I had to wait at the lobby for a couple hours after check out, and there was not really a sitting/waiting area. There is a large ottoman that I set on, but would be nice to have some sort of a Lobby-like wait area. Even with that- the staff was super accommodating and made sure I was as comfortable as can be.

This was a good choice for an overnight stay with my sisters. The property was clean and reasonably close to historic center of Charleston. As my sisters are older they found the distance a little too far for walking. The young man at the valet was very personable and friendly but the young lady at the desk at checkin was not as friendly and helpful. I was disappointed when she said they were out of complimentary water. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated but the rooms smelled heavily of bleach. The shower was very difficult to regulate the water and you got very cold and wet waiting a long time for water to warm up once you figured out how the tap worked. Overall I liked the hotel but would not return.

While my daughter has no trouble standing in the hall to apply makeup or doing her hair, I require bright light and the magnifying mirror which was in the pitch black bathroom. Using the toilet during the night was very challenging for me. While this problem was resolved on day 2, we arrived back after a late dinner to find that our toilet would not flush. In the morning, my daughter went out to another hotel to use their bathroom facilities, while I was fortunate to encounter a maid on our floor, who kindly allowed me to use the bathroom of an empty room she was cleaning. Bottom line: Hotel Bella Grace, has gracious & friendly front desk and cleaning staff, but the facility itself is third world quality. VERY disappointing!

Decent location, was clean and quite. Bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, however, and the small couch in the room was unusable because if you sat on it you would hit your head on the TV hanging above it. Bathroom setup a bit odd - no way to turn on the shower without getting soaked and no door on the toilet area, although there is room for one. Hotel is attractive, but there is no bar, restaurant, or any other amenities. Fine for sleeping for a business trip, but not somewhere I would want to hangout.

The property was average. The shower water was luke warm at best, and the water pressure was low. Also, you can hear the water flow through the pipes when flushing, which I did not enjoy. There was a false fire alarm that went off the last night at 7am and was a total sleep disruption. I probably would not stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was very nice. Helpful and friendly staff. The room was clean, spacious and had comfortable beds. Amenities were good. The location is perfect if you’re looking to walk to places in town. Right in the middle of two main areas for shops/restaurants/bars. Even walking distance to the water.

The shower water was never really hot and the light didn’t work. I feel for what we paid for the room we overspent. Very disappointed. We asked for more towels and never got them. Had to ask after 4:30 pm for the room to be cleaned. Not acceptable. I was told they were very busy turning over the hotel. Again when I pay over $300.00 a night for a room I feel everything should be clean. The room should be cleaned by 4:00 pm, etc.

Great hotel and very quiet. The onsite parking option a bit pricey for $49 a night. Just park at the Gaillard parking garage for $18 a day. Its like a block from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and there are tons of great places to eat. Its about a 15 min walk to the market and just a few blocks over from King street.

Everything about this hotel was great and the staff was 10/10. However the first room we got was dirty, and had terrible drainage. I took a shower and it took 20 minutes post shower to drain. We called and they took immediate action and moved us to another room. The drainage in the sink was still not great but the room was cleaner.

For the price, we were underwhelmed. Photos of the property showed on-site dining and breakfast, which was nowhere to be seen. We had to request a pack n play/ crib several different ways associated with the reservation before we got it. Several minor areas in the room were in need of repairs (like a towel rack). Valet parking was very expensive and they just parked it really close and barred our access to the vehicle during our stay unless we got the keys from the valet.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, great location. My only critique is that it says parking available on hotels.com but when you get there, the only parking available is through their valet service which they charge $49 a night for. There is not lot or on street parking nearby so this was the only option.

Hotel Bella Grace is walking distance to the main shops on King Street. There's a nice park to hang out (play catch or frisbee) nearby. Also, it's walking distance to the Children's museum and the Best Friend Train Museum. There was a lot do within walking distance, but we also took our car and drove to other places for other activities.

Other than the air conditioning not working properly on the 1st night, it was a nice stay. We slept hot the first night because the maintenance guy was gone for the day. Suggestion for management-have someone available 24 hrs or on call to come and fix issues. Hotel is in a great location and the restaurant next door is very good for happy hour and small plates.

The front desk workers were amazing! They were very helpful and enthusiastic. The hotel rooms are perfectly designed, with a small kitchen included. The decor is beautiful and everything was very clean. The rooms are spacious and well thought-out. Would have preferred an option to self-park, as valet gets expensive.

This is my fourth stay at Hotel Bella Grace and this experience did not meet my expectations in terms of the cleanliness and quality of furnishings in my room. Luckily, I travel with sanitizing wipes and spray but I should not have to clean obvious stains or marks off of the toilet, walls, and shower upon arrival.

What we didn’t like about the hotel was the lack of information. The staff didn’t seem either helpful or knowledgeable. In addition to that, when we called the reception desk to let them know it takes for ever for the shower to get warm or there is no shampoo in the container, no body answered the phone. The rooms are not very quiet. You can hear elevator and people’s talk in the hallway.

Room was very a loud noisy due to a vibrating sound coming from the walls and ceiling all night like someone was parked outside my window with a subwoofer in their car turned up. I got 2 hours sleep with earplugs in. I spoke to front desk 2X the next morning and was brushed of with I will let my manger know - sorry. Then I followed up with same person (2 hours later) and asked if she had talked with the manager and the response was “she is going to check on it” It has been 24 hours and I have not heard anything. Room was nice and clean and the in room amenities were nice.

We like the location as much of downtown Charleston is accessible to walk. We also liked the style of the furnishings and efficient use of the space. As most of Charleston downtown., the cost is very high relative to the size and amenities. Additionally, an extra $46 per day for valet parking is very painful.

The room was newly Redon and super clean. The bed was very comfortable and there were actually channels to watch. We loved having the “living room/kitchen” area. The room was extremely loud though, at first we thought it was the refrigerator, then the air conditioning, but later realized we were next to a closet making all the noise. Loved the walk to King St and Meeting St. It was just a great place in a great location. The valet guys were actually super helpful.

This may be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The price was outrageous for the poor quality of service and amenities. The a/c system was so loud it was unbearable. When I called I was to that was just the way it was. No fix, no suggestions to make it more tolerable. The vinyl flooring was peeling up in several places. There were not enough towels and they had to wash more (while we waited to shower) before they could deliver more. We were in a handicapped accessible room with a roll-in shower. The water leaked halfway across the bathroom. No bath mats and not enough towels to clean up to make safe to walk in the bathroom. The coffee maker didn’t work (so loud it would wake the dead and only made a teaspoon of coffee). I brought all these issues to the attention of the front desk and NOTHING was done. No offer of compensation. Nothing. There were no amenities. For $800 per night it was outrageous. Front desk staff was rude. The only staff that were terrific were the valets. Save your money and stay ANYWHERE but here

It was a really nice hotel, kind of like it’s own little oasis from the noise and busy city. The rooms are clean, upscale and the style is cute. The staff was kind, albeit didn’t help bring luggage to our room, just kinda left us to struggle with the bell cart. In terms of cleanliness and style this place is worth staying at, its big re at flaw is it’s distance from most of the sights. It is relatively close to king street for shopping and some restaurants, but all the places that are important sights (I.e. rainbow road, the pin apple, battery park, etc.) are at least a 20 minute walk to get to from this location. I was left really torn whether it was worth the cost solely because the benefits of this hotel were equally matched by some relatively annoying facets. Worth a stay if you need a place in Charleston that is chic and isolated, but you might find something else in the area that does the same if not more for the same price, that is a little better situated. Cost to value is something I’m still asking myself.

We chose this property based on the gorgeous photos and high ratings online. This is the best hotel we have stayed at in ages……. SO SO FAR BEYOND PUR EXPECTATIONS. The staff took such good care us (especially Mercury at the front desk). We can’t wait to come back and stay here again. It’s literally perfect

Spend your money elsewhere. For what this place cost, you can find a much better hotel. The bed was hard, the water doesn’t get hot, and there is no water pressure. No robes, turn down, etc. I have had far better service with many more amenities at a lower rate than this hotel. It is conveniently located.

I loved this hotel. It is very clean and well maintained. The people at reception cannot do enough for you. It is located for easy visiting any part of Charleston one would wish to visit. The free Charleston bus is just one block away. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

This property has one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room felt very romantic and modern. The valet service was on point and ready everytime we needed the car which wasn't often because the location of the property is very convenient to different eating and shopping options. My only issue my whole trip was the shower handle was broken off so i had to take a cool shower after the long trip to the hotel. The hotel immediately fix the problem by the time we was back from dinner.

Gorgeous huge windows that are the new, thick, silent type. Spa-type vibe.

Lovely place to stay close to all the places you need to go. Parking was easy and safe. Rooms were everything you would expect in a first class hotel

Staff was exceptionally friendly I thought. Hallways were a bit dark, could use brighter lighting.

We thought Bella Grace was very nice, rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, the hotel was quiet and everything was walkable. The staff greeted us and gave us great recommendations. We were disappointed at the broken Peleton seat in the exercise room, the fact that our rooms were not put back together daily, we had to ask for extra coffee pods a few times at the desk, Expedia has inaccurate information claiming there is a breakfast and a bar on site. It is a lovely hotel, there are just some things that could make it so much better.

Received a call from the hotel on Wednesday afternoon inquiring as to why my belongings were still in my room. I explained to the hotel staffer (friendly and accommodative) that it was there since I was not checking out until Thursday as I had reserved through hotels.com

Small quiet property - great, welcoming and helpful staff

Very nice and clean hotel. Staff was amazing! Very friendly and helpful. Parking was $40 a day I think is a bit steep but they did a great job pulling my car in and out. The only complaint I have is the new hotel standard is you pay more for the rooms but get less service. For example all hotels since covid use the Covid excuse to only clean your room every 3-4 days. The experience of the hotel is what I pay for. If I wanted to make my bed everyday I would just get a air BNB.
