Even though it was 11:00 pm, We QUICKLY packed our things & found another Hotel! The hotel is dark, Dreary, run down is NOTHING like the pics. The staff was very nice & attempted to find another room, however after a few rooms with the same bug /roach situation & there is nothing the front desk staff can do about that!! That has to come from Gerald Simmons the property manager!! Sleeping with Roaches & sewer bugs is NOT ACCEPTABLE on ANY level. The process of contacting the Hotel management /Hotels.com was also horrible. Hotels.com stating the BW had denied a refund, & the Hotel Staff claiming Hotels.com never even attempted to reach out to them. It took hours & hours of continual effort to get a partial refund & now have to fight for a full refund. Very sad situation.

Nothing great. Nothing bad. Solid option for the price. Convenient location. The property, curtains, etc are dated, but it was overall clean and safe. The pool was nice. The breakfast was solid for a complimentary option. It would be nice if there was a bottle filling station and a fitness room.

Only staff I saw was the pool/landscape staff witch was helpful. The room was pretty clean no issues there. The air conditioner was non effective to cool the room and the toilet float would get stuck open and run till you caught it. The breakfast was very good and perfectly accommodating. The pool was very nice and spacious with good seating. The grounds where dirty with trash and other things everywhere and the bushes along with other plants around the grounds where not kept up. All together a good experience. Thank you

The room smelled of mold. There was hair all over the bathroom. The bathroom and several spots in the room needed repairing. The pool area was gross to even walk on the patio. The pool was a yellow tint. No lighting in the very back of the property. People sitting in cars middle of the night out back. Rude employees did not even offer to change my room when I tried to ask about my $60 refund they didn’t know what I was talking about! So I was charged an additional $60 for the room of horror!

The woman doing the front desk check in was like a drill sergeant. There was no smile - no greeting. She was adamant I list my license plate number eventhough I had the make and color and the state of my license plate. I have never had any front desk person be that demanding. But the worst part of our stay was that the shower curtain was comically short which meant absolutely all the water leaked easily onto the floor. You think they could figure that one out. The room was clean - which was good, but it was the bare minimum for our stay.

Absolute garbage. It is NOTHING like the pictures on their website and is a total bait and switch hotel. Front door lock was held on by a single screw so we blocked the door with a chair since the lock didn't seem effective. Couldn't use the blow dryer in the bathroom b/c the handle was sticky with something. The list goes on. I'd have understood if not for the fact that the pictures online are completely deceptive. Our room looked nothing at all like the pictures. Very, very disappointed and I feel very taken.

We have stayed at this Best Western location many times over the last 5 or 6 years, but this was our worst experience. The rooms were mostly clean. The breakfast was mostly fine. He was friendly and professional initially. But his response when I asked

Linens and drapes very old and need replacing. I usually stay at BW for their breakfast, and I would give this one a 2 rating, all others 5. They charge an additional $25 if you stay from 11-12, no grace period. We left before 11, but that apparently is their policy. I never give bad reviews, but this one I’m sorry to do one, as I believe the management needs to know.

This property is way overpriced for the condition. The hotel is old and the bathroom had dirt around the edge of everything. The walls were patched and the vanity light was hung crooked to try to cover it, repairs were done cheaply. What you would expect in an old motel but not $175 per night. The staff on the other hand, was super nice and helpful and friendly. The lady in reception and the maintenance man, were immediately helpful when our room key stopped working. Breakfast was good too and that facility was super bright and clean. Would stay here again being pet friendly and the room itself and bed were clean just old but it probably should be closer to $120 per night.

The pictures made this property look impeccable, and not look at all like a motel. Kudos on the marketing! We stayed in room 238 in March of 2026 the weather was cool, and upon entering the room it smelled very musty. We inspected the thoroughly to see if we could possibly located the smell. We turned on the air conditioner and that was not the problem. (Side note: this air conditioner wall unit had a lot of drywall damage under the unit and the trim that was around the unit was gone.) We check each of the queen size beds for bed bugs as we felt it may be a culprit for these. The beds didn’t have bed bugs, but the bed I slept in had a ton of short, corse hairs that look a lot like pubic hair. It wasn’t just a few either. There were over 50 of them, I counted. Ick! The shower was were we found the musty smell as there was black mold on the caulk around the tub. The curtain on the shower didn’t even fit inside of the tub, so when we took a shower the water was all over the floor. We had to use half of our towels on the floor alone just so we wouldn’t slip when we got out of the shower. The mini fridge was set on the coldest setting, but it never got cold. Their were two sinks in this room one inside the bathroom and the other located outside. This was great for having two people get ready. When we turned the hot water knob to the on position on the sink located outside of the bathroom no water came out. The best thing about this visit were the kind ladies at the front desk.

Online it says “cats and dog allowed.” My partner and I drove 8 hours to have a weekend in Charleston, and when I went to check in and mentioned having a cat, the front desk woman immediately shook her head and said “no ma’am, no cats.” Despite point out that I booked this place specifically for this reason, she said the owner of this particular location does not allow cats. The website needs to be updated ASAP - my partner and I were scrambling to find a last minute place with a reasonable price because of this!

At checkout we spoke with the manager, Nikki, who was polite and apologized, but then asked what we wanted her to do about it. We made it clear we were not asking for a refund or discount – we were leaving and simply wanted management to be aware so it wouldn’t happen to another guest. Instead, we were told that since we booked through a third party, we already received a discount, which felt dismissive and unrelated to our concern. She said she would speak with her manager and call us back within an hour, but we never received a follow-up. We later contacted Expedia, who acknowledged that this is a serious issue and offered $25 in Expedia credit, which we can only use on a future booking. Ultimately, this ended up being one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had from both Best Western and Expedia. The two stars are for the kind and hardworking staff members we interacted with throughout most of our stay, but the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel is showing its age. For the price I expected better. It is an older hotel. The vending machine only took exact change, and I was told to use the one at the hotel next door. We stayed there because it was close to the hospital.

Room was clean but very dated. Bedding and pillows were clean and comfortable, AC unit worked well but i was allergic to something in the room, sneezed allot, not sure if it was mold or animal related. Carpeting was worn and older, not all lamps had power outlets and USB charger ports, lamps had some surface rust, microwave and refrigerator worked well, very nice tv. There was a pull out bed from a couch, but we did not use it. Iron and ironing board were good and usable. Ice machine was nearby outdoors. Our stay was fine but for the money, we would probably look elsewhere.

First off when you pull in there are several stray cats all over the parking lot, with fly infested dishes everywhere so there’s clearly no attempt to get rid of them. Next we could not even get into the room without repeatedly kicking the door to get it open. When we finally we able to into the room it was full of flys every where. When we went to the pool there were no towels so we asked the lady at the front desk and she informed us there weren’t any. The entire hotel didn’t have a single extra towel?! The pool area itself was filthy and the pool was covered in leaves. In addition the room I booked was a “pool view room”. The rooms view was completely obscured by huge overgrown bushes, along with every other similar room. When we returned to the room we again tried for 5-10 minutes to simply try to gain entry to our room without success so we went to the front desk to see if she could send someone to assist. Go figure, there wasn’t. After finally physically kicking the door repeatedly to open it the room was full of even more flys and now several centipedes crawling around as well. Also there are so many lights and traffic on the main road it takes 45 to get to/from Charleston. I implore you you to not make the same mistake we did. DO NOT give them your business

Rooms are modern, fresh, and remarkably well-kept. Housekeeping clearly takes pride in their work—everything from the bedding to the bathroom was spotless. The beds are comfortable, the AC is reliable (a must in a Charleston summer), and there’s plenty of space to stretch out. Even better, many rooms open directly to the outside, which makes unloading your luggage a breeze. The staff, however, is what sets this hotel apart. From the moment I checked in, I was greeted with genuine Southern hospitality. Every request—whether it was a recommendation for nearby restaurants or a late checkout—was handled with a smile and a willingness to help. It’s the kind of service that sticks with you. Breakfast is complimentary and surprisingly satisfying, with hot options like eggs, sausage, and waffles alongside fresh fruit and coffee. The outdoor pool is another welcome perk—clean, quiet, and perfect for cooling off after a day of sightseeing. In short, Best Western Charleston Inn proves that affordable doesn’t have to mean average.

This property the pictures must’ve been taken a very long time ago. We picked it for the beautiful pool, which was not open and dirty and nothing around it not even the chairs looked the same as the pic we came to this location for the pool. It’s a 12 o’clock check out on Expedia. It’s 11 when we came to the room we couldn’t get in the door because it was bent and broken. Someone tried to get in. It opens from the outside, which they don’t show in the pictures so is unsafe for women. The coffee pot did not work. I had come three hours away for an appointment. Then we proceeded to find out the toilet would not flush. The bathtub would not drain. The shower curtain was way too short for the shower so when you took a shower, you flooded the entire floor and it was coming out into the main area.! Never again Expedia should give me a refund. They should not be advertising this property like they do.

The check-in experience was terrible. Had to wait over 30 minutes to check in. Lady behind counter giving gentleman in front of me incorrect information. Lady was working by herself and had to call someone because she didn’t know what to do. When it was our turn over 30 minutes later,, We had to ask for a rollaway because it was advertised and we requested it so I wanted to be sure it was in the room and she told us we did not because they did not have them. I told her when I booked the room. I had it in the notes. She said she didn’t know what I was talking about. It was obvious she was new and should not have been left alone there and was not properly trained. Luckily they owned the hotel next-door that did have them and she sent someone next-door to borrow one. We spend approximately $130,000 annually on hotels due to frequent employee travel, and we’ve never encountered a situation like this. This property charged us a $300 fee for what they claimed was a “horrible mess” left in two rooms. When we requested photo evidence to address the issue with our team, the only image provided was of a single dirty towel—hardly justification for such a charge. If you’re going to assess a damage fee, thorough documentation should be standard. We do not recommend this hotel and will not be staying here again.

Comfortable and clean motel. Couldn’t tell from the listing that it was a motel instead of a hotel but it was fine. Nice area. Good breakfast. Overall the property was very good. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the lady hosting the breakfast was gracious and pleasant. However, the front desk clerk who checked us in needs some improvement on her interpersonal skills. She was initially snippy, abrupt and condescending. We felt as though we were bothering her even though we were trying to be pleasant and engaging. It got to the point where my patience with her attitude was wearing thin and my demeanor changed. At that point, her tone changed and she became more conciliatory and helpful. Nevertheless, the interaction was less than pleasant.

The only drawback was the traffic; turning left to get to downtown Charleston proved to be quite tricky, forcing us to make a U-turn instead. However, considering the overall quality of our experience, this was a minor hurdle, and we would happily choose to stay here again!

all four of us being senior citizens and having to carry luggage up the flight of stairs. The hotel is older so if you’re looking for modern this hotel would not suit you. However, it was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

The pictures and the rating for this property were misrepresented. The room was old and not very clean, the bed was uncomfortable, there were bugs in the room and the breakfast was just okay. If I had seen this property first, I would never have chosen to stay there. Don’t waste your money.

Decent hotel. Can’t go wrong with the price. The room could’ve been cleaned a little better. Unfortunately, super dusty and floors were dirty. And it smelled really bad that we had to buy air fresheners. But staff was super kind. I would stay again but would just hope for a cleaner room next time.

The property was convenient for the two night, but I would not give it even a 5 other than the friendliness of the staff. Our bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine taking off, the sink and shower leaked. The only good thing was it was quiet and convenient to our friends house. Would not recommend until a renovation is completed. When we mentioned items to front desk all they said was ‘it’s an old hotel’.

-I stayed in room 102. It had a very musty smell and there was mold on the curtains. -The lawn crew for the hotel was out BEFORE 8am working. Why would you do that where people come to sleep? Do you not want people to sleep when they are paying you for a bed? -While my niece was still sleeping, BEFORE checkout, housekeeping came and woke her up. Why isn't it policy to leave people alone before checkout time?? I’m sure there were plenty of rooms to clean that had already dropped off their key cards. Again, do you not want people to sleep when they are paying you for a bed?

The sink outside the toilet room was backed up and did not adequately drain. There was GRIME on the remote, furniture and lamps. I visibly saw dirt in the corners of the room and bathroom. There was an active prescience of roaches. In addition, there were surprise charges not mentioned when I booked, one was the pet fee. I made a notation that I was bringing out 9 pound dog and wanted a dog friendly room. However, when the final charges appeared on my confirmation, there was no mention of a separate pet fee. I did not find this out until we checked in.

Very inconvenient. We were in Charleston for my granddaughter's surgery and couldn't even take a shower. When we notified the staff the front desk person working on 7/25/24 at 11 am was rude and stated that we should have checked the shower when we got there. I could not believe that she said that. I had already notified the night shift person at 6am when I discovered the shower would not work. I asked to speak to the manager and she was just as ruse as the clerk. She made it seem as if though it was our fault that the shower didn't work and that their maintenance person did not make sure our shower worked before we for there. I was very disappointed that the shower was mot working and even more disappointed that the staff was not apologetic at all and treated us this way! We will not be staying at any Best Western again!

We only stayed last minute for 1 night. I searched for pet friendly & searched everywhere on the site for fees associated with pets as well as how to notify them when we booked online that we had a n 8 pound dog... never found anything except pet friendly. We checked in late and checked out early. We left the room cleaner than we found it bc we had to clean up several dead roaches & the gaps in the doors let all kinds of bugs and mosquitoes in and made it hard to keep cool. We didnt complain bc it was fairy inexpensive hotel & we survived the night. The next morning a very rude lady called me and said one of the employees saw we had a dog leaving the room & was trying to collect an extra $100 for a pet fee! The whole room was only $150 for the night and my little Shia-poo is hypoallergenic, doesn't shed, & didn't make a mess at all. She said the pet fee was $30 but since we didn't "notify" them we had a pet, it was going to be $100! I said it was pet friendly and we didn't try to hide anything. She demanded i give her a credit card to pay the extra $100 & when i said i didn't agree to that, she said she was going to charge my credit card i used to pay for the room & threatened something else i couldn't understand before she hung up on me! I haven't heard from them since & still haven't seen the extra charge on my credit card but I will dispute it if it shows up. The lady that checked us in when we got therewas nice but the unclear policies and rudeness are unacceptable

We stayed here one night prior to going on a cruise. We felt safe, the area was convenient to dining, stores and most importantly the port. There were minor things with the room I would consider “unclean” but not enough to prevent me from staying. The only real negative was the huge gap underneath the door that was obviously allowing our “cool air” to escape making it slightly uncomfortable in the room…we solved this by placing a towel in the gap.
