Reviews
The hotel is in a prime location, being right in the heart of Campustown and in close proximity to the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. However, the service and cleanliness of the hotel are average, with several guests expressing dissatisfaction. The hotel's amenities, such as the pool and breakfast, are hit or miss, with some guests enjoying them and others finding them lacking.
- Prime location in Campustown and near the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana
- Spacious and comfortable rooms
- Average service and cleanliness
- Inconsistent amenities (pool, breakfast)

The sink water didn’t get warm enough to wash my face & the sink was clogged. The shower was also low flow. The front desk was very nice to easily extent our parking until evening since we were there for an event at the college, within walking distance, once I asked.

We had to move rooms because our tv was broken. Our 2nd room was ungodly hot. Our 3rd room was still hot (75) and our tv volume did not work. There was not enough seating at breakfast. I was NEVER told I would need my room keycard to leave the parking garage. I turned it in when I checked out and was charged $25! I called the hotel the next day and was told I needed to email the manager, which I did. She has still not responded! The staff on duty were wonderful though. They needed Tiffany's permission to give us a discount. This was the worst hotel experience. Do not stay here until they do some major upgrades.
- 5/5
Staff was great accommodating us to a quiet corner room it was clean and comfortable
- 3/5
The breakfast was okay but the coffee was a little diluted and weak (for my taste). The room was okay and clean. The window in our room didn't close all the way so we could hear the noise from the cars outside. The heater was loud. We only stayed one night.

The staff was great and helpful! The pool had a sign from the health department that was expired a year ago. Traffic/trucks were very noisy all night, and the worst part was the person in the room next door yelling into his phone at 4:30am.

Great location. Excellent housekeeping staff. Breakfast was poor, even for Continental. Spacious room but property needs a facelift with cracked paint, dated furnishings and worn furniture.
- 5/5
friendly staff, clean rooms
- 4/5
The location was great. The staff was friendly and the room is clean. But there were broken drawers and cabinets. There was cracked glasses in the cabinet. And no hangers or tissues.
- 4.5/5
Not pressing, I am sure it could have been resolved easily but I did not ask, the rooms could have used more linens.
- 5/5
We prefer this hotel because we can prepare our own meals or find tasty takeout nearby. The covered parking is convenient and the staff are very helpful. The gym and pool are nice, too,

The location was good., right downtown with many restaurants nearby. There is a Target a block away. Parking is in an adjacent parking garage. Room was clean and comfortable. The weather was quite cold, temps in the single digits. The room was cold. Turned up the thermostat but a layer of cold air stayed near the floor. The breakfast was poor. The scrambled eggs were like the circular ones found in a McMuffin and not tasty. The "bold" coffee was weak. The French toast was tasteless. A brand-name maple syrup was needed.

Great location in Campustown. Spacious room. Useful laundry room. The coffee machine in the room was so cheap and plasticy.

Tried calling the front desk for help and the guy immediately put my husband (waiting in a parking lot) on hold citing a long line: I arrived on foot to the lobby to no line and no front desk staff. When I walked back to my husband in the car, he was still on hold… The bathroom shower body wash container was empty and room door had a broken anti-slam mechanism. Would not return here!
- 5/5
Locatuon is excellent, a 2 minute walk to the main quad at the University of Illinois and right on Green Street where all the restaurants are. The room was equipped with a full sized refrigerator, a microwave, even a small stove and a dishwasher(!), as well as plates, cups, bowls and actual metal silverware. It was more like having an apartment in town than staying in a hotel room. There was a full sized desk, with a table nestled inside that you can pull out, it was large enough to play a board game on it. Extremely convenient and made everything about the trip easier. Definitely recommend.

Went to see UIUC campus and stopped here for the night. It was quieter because we came in July, and that might make a difference at other times, but this place was really convenient and our room was a good size. I didn’t think much of the pool but I had no time to use it anyway. Right next to campus.
- 5/5
The room was ok, then cleaners came only once during our stay. She was rude. She didn’t clean the shower at all. She didn’t replace the toilet paper roll even though it had finished and she didn’t clean the table despite me asking her. The tea mug had lipstick stain on them.

I didn't care for the frozen omelets that were the offering for breakfast, They were still cold in the middle.
- 5/5
Convenient to areas I needed to get to and facilities were clean and functional.
- 4/5
The place is very nice. I did not like that i was given a room designed for handicap people.

- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay here. I had a little mishap with the tv not working and the staff on site took care of me. They are very attentive. Would stay here again!
- 1/5
It was graduation weekend full house and the GM didn't have any maintenance or housekeeping staff on property for guests. As a result no hot water for showers, clogged toilets, public restrooms without towels. At over $1800 for two rooms / 2 nights ...A complete rip off and unworthy of the Marriott brand. Never again!
- 5/5
Would def recommend
- 5/5
The refrigerator in the guest room (a suite) is too noisy. The entrance to the garage can use some signage (or even just paint on the road surface, to keep it simple).
- 2/5
The room was spacious, staff friendly, but unfortunately our bathroom was essentially out of order during the stay, which required multiple calls to the front desk (manager never seemed to be there and we were there on Wednesday/Thursday).
- 5/5
Hated - midnight noise, hairs from previous customers, no slippers

Nice staff. Clean rooms and easy access. Love the dinning options.

Nice and clean room
- 5/5
I would say the only thing is I found use towels hanging in bathroom on the 2 hocks. Other than that oversight every thing was ok.
- 5/5
The room was very spacious and clean and the furniture and kitchen were useful. The stay was very comfortable.

Very clean and wonderful staff. Tons of food options in walking distance. Nice gym too.

Our favorite base for visiting Champaign. We can relax and cook for ourselves, or enjoy the many nearby dining options. The covered parking is a plus in bad weather.
- 5/5
Easy check in. Good location.
- 3/5
Room very nice. We enjoyed it. The bathroom glass door needs repairs because of a water build up. Sink was clogging. Cleanliness needs work. But overall nice hotel, nice people, nice location. Great room design.

Front desk Lenard and Kevin are amazing and helpful. The breakfast by American standards is fine but they can consider replenishing items that have been consumed. Absolutely recommend this one … 5 ⭐️

Great access to room rooms parking!!
- 3/5
The property is right in the campustown which makes it very easy to access. However, the service is average. They promised to clean the room every 3rd day but they didn't service the room only once in 11 days despite making requests.
- 3/5
Nothing special. The location is good if you want to be central, but therefore also quite noisy. Hotel itself could use some updating (pool was closed, fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for no reason) and cleaning (room and common areas). But at the same time its not horrible.
- 5/5
The hotel was completely full of eclipse viewers. The check-in person was nice enough to group our three family members together on one floor (actually had our own wing). Perhaps because I had booked many months earlier the price was reasonable. As a bonus the hotel is right next to the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana campus.
- 1/5
Drove 2.5 hours from Chicago only to be told they had overbooked, and could not honor the reservation I had made a few days prior. The guy staffing the front desk at least made a few calls to get me another hotel (albeit one that was a step down in quality), but completely unacceptable that my reservation was cancelled.

The rooms are dingy and dirty. Even though the place is renovated, it's in bad condition. I am not sure how they managed that. The A/C was broken and making an annoying sound, which did not let me sleep all night. The staff is not friendly and accommodating at all
- 5/5
Stayed for a basketball game at Illinois- easy walk from Amtrak station and to State Farm Center- hotel is in campus town with plenty of food and drink options.
- 5/5
Great location in Campustown right on Campus!
- 5/5
Convenient to campus. Nice breakfast. Comfortable room with good space and outfitted well with storage and seating. Parking easy.
- 5/5
Incredibly convenient to University. Very comfortable room, set up well for longer stay. The pool is perfectly heated and doesn't reek of chlorine--so hard to get myself to get out. Parking is a little tricky, but once you figure it out, easy peasy. Staff was polite, professional and accommodating. If our kid goes to college here, this going to be our visit spot.
- 5/5
This is the perfect place to stay when visiting the University of Illinois campus. Upon checking in, my daughter was given a small gift bag for her campus tour--so thoughtful! The room's amenities are wonderful--fridge, microwave, stove top, and a dining table and chairs. Just a perfect stay for the night!
- 5/5
Perfect location to visit the University of Illinois!! Off-street parking....although it's $7/day. Clean, safe, fun colors/decor. Definitely recommend!!

Great stay, very clean, great parking!
- 4/5
Hotel is in a great location, pricey but it was a football game weekend. The logistics of the parking and getting luggage to and from room is cumbersome.
- 3/5
Personnel working for the hotel were great. First room we had the carpet was wet, not just a little area but the entire carpet was wet. The A/C unit stated the room was 75 degrees. Was moved into a double queen from a king, much nicer room the only problem it took over 24 hours for the room temp to drop below 72 from 75 then the room stared to cool and get comfortable. The internet said ample parking and pet friendly, nothing about the fees that were charged $7 dallors a night for parking and $100 pet fee
- 5/5
This is a great facility, with a terrific location. The desk help was superb. Really appreciated the hot breakfast, store, and laundry
- 5/5
Big clean rooms with small kitchen
- 5/5
This is probably the best hotel in the Champaign area and has the best location, right in the heart of campus. It is new, clean, rooms are spacious, staff is great.
- 4/5
Hotel feels a little dated.
- 5/5
Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Room clean and comfortable.,would stay here again.

We got a late check in and got the reserved room. But it was a handicapped enabled room and thus the bath tub was missing that made the whole bathroom became wet with water when anyone of us taking bath. We did not need the handicap room but looked like that was the only one they had probably. Otherwise, a good property and I have stayed in the past few times as well.
- 5/5
Our stay was just an overnight but everything was clean & the service was great. We really enjoyed the warm salt water pool.
- 5/5
Lovely stay
- 5/5
Great location and nice rooms. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast too.
- 4/5
I paid for parking and asked about checking out of the garage after we finished our campus visit. They said yes and charged me $7 to park. When I went to exit the garage, the key would not work and there was no call box. I had to pay a $25 lost ticket fee to get out of the garage.
- 5/5
Great location, super clean and staff very friendly. Right in heart of ILLINOIS campus.
- 5/5
The hotel staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean. Conveniently located to the UIUC campus.

Enjoyed this hotel. great location in the heart of the action on Green street and you can't get any closer to UIUC.

location
- 5/5
We were helping our daughter settle into her graduate program at UIUC, the TownePLace Suites are a short walk to her new apartment (2 min.) and 5 min. from her faculty. Easily a dozen eateries within a ¼ mile of the hotel (primarily geared to students). The hotel is central to university living and provides easy access to several large stores (Target, Walmart, Costco, Meijer, Lowe’s…). The large rooms easily accommodated three the first night (with 10 large suitcases), parking on site and the simple morning breakfasts were welcomed when our schedule was tight. Overall, it’s the place to stay for a comfortable, no hassle visit to your child or loved one. We will be sure to return soon.
- 4/5
Convenient location and clean.
- 5/5
Central location with convenient parking and plenty of nearby shopping and dining options. We prefer to do our own cooking during longer stays so Marriott Suites are a good choice for us.
- 5/5
Manager Tiffany was very pleasant
- 5/5
the only thing that was not good was the free breakfast. We didn't really use it but my hubby tried it once and it was awful. The milk was curdled and the coffee was bad. But we were not there for the breakfast so we were fine. Other than that, the stay itself was wonderful and the staff were courteous and friendly.
- 5/5
This hotel is so close to the university of Illinois in Urbana Champaign that you can walk there in just a couple of minutes. It was great to stay here during a conference where we walked everywhere.
- 5/5
Clean, staffs are friendly, good location
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Nice room
- 4/5
Right off Green Street, walkable to nearly anything on campus or a ton of food options. Clean and convenient room, with a kitchenette. Parking's a bit annoying to get to. Hotel did not honor the check-out time given by Expedia
- 4/5
Nice hotel in perfectly convenient location for visiting your Illini student. Walk to most everything and on site parking.
- 2/5
The morning receptionist wasn't accommodating.
- 5/5
Extremely convenient location that is close to UIUC's campus and all the stores/restaurants located on Green St.
- 1/5
Our room was dirty and at 11PM i was woken up by a leaking ceiling. The liquid(not sure what it was) soaked mine and my son's pajama to the point we had to change. The hotel moved us but is only giving a $50 discount for 'our troubles'. We were not on a top floor so I assume it was some sort of nasty toilet water that leaked on my family. I have not gotten a response from the front desk person for an amended discount due to this issue.
- 2/5
However, the room was not cleaned during our stay. I called the front desk who proceeded to tell me that "we do not refresh the room esp. for only 3 day stay". This is really dissappointing. I am an avid travellor. I would expect the "not refreshing" the room from some places like Extended Staty America where people pay $50 a night. Not in a million years that I will pay over $200 a night for the room that is not going to be cleaned on a daily basis, let alone with no fresh towels everyday and let alone that it bears the Marriott name. This is REALLY CHEAP on the hotel side and make the entire experience bad. I will NEVER stay at this place again.
- 5/5
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Greeted each time we came in or out or at least was acknowledged if they were with other customers. Amenities in the room were fantastic - large fridge, electric stove, dishwasher and dishes.

Great location at U of I and very clean.
- 3/5
I was disappointed. its location is right on campus which is great, but the room was small. The facilities seemed cramped and untidy. It seemed understaffed. When you check in you get a text message "is there anything we can do to make your stay better?" I replied yes the tv does not work. nothing done. then I texted someone spilled a bunch of food in hall way nothing done... then the text message we are glad you ahd a pleasant stay.
- 5/5
I liked all the amenities, the comfort of the bed, helpfulness of the staff and loaction.
- 3/5
Great location and staff. Overall clean facility. My biggest complaint is the poor quality of free continental breakfast. I have no idea why they don’t see the horrible quality!
- 4/5
Rooms are well designed if guest is there for extended stay. We were not but were very comfortable. Room was nor sound-proofed very effectively. Hotel attendant at front desk was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Love the kitchen set up - I think that the elevator needs deeper cleaning as we are all using it.

We love using this hotel when we visit U of I!
- 2/5
This hotel is attractive & newly renovated, but service is sloppy. Check in took 1/2 hour. The hotel claimed they never received Expedia's reservation. When I showed Edgar at the front desk my confirmation emails from Expedia, he told me he could not do anything until I attained a reservation confirmation from Expedia. I told him Expedia reps keep you on hold for 2 hours and he could have care less. I asked to speak to a manager and some woman front the front desk told me they would honor the Expedia rate and charged me. For all I know, Expedia had also charged me too, but I cannot get an Expedia rep on the phone to discuss. The following items were missing from our room: a blanket for the sofa bed, 4 forks to eat with, a cutting board, dishwater detergent for more than one cycle, dish washing liquid, bath towels for all staying in the room, the stovetop light was burnt out, no frying pans. The pool was closed 'due to COVID', but they served maskless people buffet food. There was no sign indicating where to valet park and no valet in sight. Moreover, Netflix only works with iphones, not androids, as per the engineer who tried to troubleshoot. This hotel is a hot mess at anticipating guests' needs. We stay at a rival chain and didn't have any of these issues plus parking was free at the competitor's residence hotel.
- 5/5
Always clean, the staff is always very friendly, and the beds are always comfy.
- 4/5
Good, except pool closed
