From the moment we arrived, to the time we left the staff was phenomenal! Everyone was so happy and the hotel and the rooms are so clean and nice! We will definitely be back again!

Nice retro themed hotel with close access to everything. Beach was great! Only downside was parking but we didn't know parking was available across the street in a lot.

What a wonderful staff. So pleasant and thoughtful. The pool was new during my stay; I was not able to use it. It looks as if it is about to open. It also has several other wonderful outdoor game areas for families to enjoy. My room was wonderful, with plenty os space for both of us to store and organize our belongings and keep the room in good shape to enjoy. Comfortable bed and pillows too, and everything we needed. The view was beautiful.

Hotel was an older building being remodeled. Upgrades were very goodand everything was clean. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Would recommend to others.

Location, view, amenities like pool, ping pong, etc. Our 1st room we checked into had a terrible musty smell that lingered for hours. After determining it was unbearable and unresolvable we were able to switch rooms quickly. The staff followed up the following day.

I am a catastrophic disabled Vietnam Veteran. Completely blind, prosthetic leg, no fingers, no toes on my good leg, can't smell or taste. I appreciate the room and it was very nice. I use to live in Wilmington but moved to Madison North Carolina a few years ago. My two sons still live and work in Wilmington. One of my sons has a son that turned 2 in May and I wanted to be the there to celebrate. Your wonderful place helped me to be with my family. Thank you for the excellent room. John C. It was a very clean hotel and the view was incredible. Liked the colorful room. The air conditioner was very loud, and it kept on waking me up, each time it kicked in. Could not hear the ocean. The bed was not comfortable. I am scared of heights so the motel type room opening to outside was uncomfortable. The staff kept on knocking on door even though I had a DND sign outside.

Very overpriced. We were expecting more of a resort type hotel but this is not that type of property. It is more of a motel with a small restaurant in a separate building. The best thing is that it is right on the beach and that was nice. The rooms were clean but nothing like nice soaps or shampoos , just very basic supplies. No blow dryer in the room so bring everything you need. Also very basic bed covers/sheets/scratchy towels. Just not at all what we expected for the price we paid. You are paying for its location right on the beach.

Perfect stay. All employees were courteous and professional. I will definitely stay here again in when I'm here next.

I am still shocked this is a Hilton property. I felt like we were staying at a cheap motel. The building was rundown and outdated. I could not believe what they charged per night, considering the condition of the property. So happy to leave and will not be back.

This was a first time here for me. You can tell that there have been some recent renovations and they were great. The room was cozy. The bedding was very comfortable. My biggest impact was made by the amazing staff at check in. The lady up front had the most inviting personality. She made us feel welcome immediately. We had a small issue at check in but her and her supervisor were on it without any delay. I want to say thanks to these two awesome folks. (Nichole / Oscar). Would definitely recommend this place.

Great Hilton property, right on the Beech with a great pier tiki bar and restaurant. Close to everything. Friendly knowledgeable staff, great service. Large rooms with balcony and ocean view.

Ocean view Their was no direct beach access like advertised. The access was closed due to renovating the pool.

The room, that I reserved was not exceptionally clean and the View was of the Pool, I did not want to stay in the particular room, and Cameron went the extra mile to get me in a better room, and what very kind and understanding. He was amazing and took the room to walk us to look at the room to see if it was ok . It would have been nice to have been told that it was Coffee and sweets down in the lobby on Saturday morning,

The rooms are oceanfront with balconies. The staff is exceptionally kind and friendly, always ready to go the extra mile for your comfort. The facilities are kept up and clean.

We were supposed to have an oceanfront room I take that to mean my view will be of the ocean no the the pier with the Tiki Bar. Our balcony was right next to the restaurant attached to the hotel. We could not enjoy the balcony with out smelling rot trash or hearing the restaurant noise. My husband found partially melted Jolly Ranchers under the twin mattress when we were making the bed for our son because yes the twin bunk was not made. We then also found a hairbrush from a previous guest under the queen bed. Overall for what we paid it was not up to standard.

Cute hotel- love the vibe. We weren't there very long. Kitchenettes in the room were great- would have been good to have some paper towels or something in there- Looks like they are working on the pool outside the taller bldg- should be nicer once that is done. Front desk folks were very friendly.

We had an ocean front balcony room that was very nice. It was in very good condition with a small kitchenette. The bathroom was roomy and nice. Front desk was so friendly and helpful very accommodating. We also went to the Tiki bar and restaurant. The food was very good. Over all we had a wonderful stay.

This hotel smells SO GOOD!! The pool wasn't available, it was under construction but it was right on the beach and the staff was awesome. The bed was a bit firm for my liking but my back felt better the next morning....go figure, lol. I will absolutely stay here again. It's in walking distance to multiple restaurants. Great location.

Food was good and sitting outside was lovely. There was some construction going on so we could not get access to the foosball table. It should be on the site that there are some changes to what is available due to the construction.

Everything it was clean, staff was friendly, comfy beds, we had a balcony on our room facing the ocean it was perfect! I have no complaints!

The hotel was oceanfront and had easy access to the beach. I liked that a restaurant and bar was connected to the hotel thought I did not visit it. Nice comfortable hotel room for the stay and liked that kids area was separate from main room. The hotel was doing construction which was emailed to me the days prior to my stay. And to no fault of hotel the beach wasn't as accessible due to refurbishment by the city. This does not deter me from staying again once construction is complete.

When i booked on line there was no indication that they were doing construction on the pool right in front of my room. There was a keurig that i was unable to use due to not being able to lift it up to put a pod in. Water pressure was low. Celing in the shower was cracking and parking was terrible

Very displeased that you to set up an account with Hilton to get free WIFI. The WIFI should just be free and available with no strings attached like other motels.

We had top floor overlooking the ocean. It was a stunning view. Great location - within walking/biking distance to restaurants and boardwalk. The tiki bar attached to hotel was wonderful and food was really good. Staff were helpful and kind. The renovations and additions were still in progress; but definitely not fault of the property. Can't wait to stay again when the new pool and beach front walkway to the other building and tiki bar are completed.

The staff is always very friendly every time we stay! The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, has a Keurig coffeemaker, a microwave and a small fridge. The retro theme is perfect for the Carolina Beach Olde Time Boardwalk feel of the area. You cannot beat the view! Love the attached restaurant and tiki bar on the pier. There is a pool and they are building another, but we did not use the pool. Will definitely be back as it is our favorite on Carolina Beach!

Me and my three children went for spring break and we had a ball! we rented chairs on the beach ate lunch at the tiki bar. The property also had a pool we enjoyed. We also enjoyed the restaurants at the boardwalk and the shops.

Property is currently under renovation so there was no lobby upon check in, and a torn up pool. Once it is complete it will be beautiful. It is a great location right on the beach and the staff was wonderful!

The rooms were very clean. I just don’t like how all the buildings separate . The room doors face the outside, but there is an elevator. The room decor is very beautiful and the rooms are very spacious and clean. I just wish the hotel was all connected and inside one building , but that’s just my personal preference. The price for the stay was great during off season. You do hear noise from outside and kids running around. There was also a lot of construction next door that kept me up during the wee hours of the morning .

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a beautiful experience. When my elderly mom who stays cold, could not get warm enough. The front desk staff member walked over four blankets in very cold and windy temperatures, just s so that everyone would be comfortable. I wish I could remember her name.

The surge of the waves and constant rain caused a lot of closures so we didn’t get the full beach experience or to see the “pretty” of the beach view with it being so stormy. But we made the best of it, ran along the beach anyways and the kids loved the bunk beds in the room. Check in/out was a breeze. I can tell we would have had a nice view if it wasn’t for the weather. Loved seeing and hearing the waves from our balcony and loved the direct beach access. The kids loved the arcade room. And the best part for us was the nearby dining and coffee options. Our favorite was the Hang Ten restaurant and I believe it was called the vault coffee shop!

The room was clean. We loved having the little kitchen. Our view was fabulous - the sunrises were gorgeous. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. They made the stay very nice.

The staff is amazing. The property is on the beach. The only issue I had is the parking. It gets full and its not very convenient when it happens. I loved the room. Its so clean and vibrant. The staff though is attentive and right on any issue you have. Ill be back and I will recommend to others.

Imagine how mad I am finding a loose stimulant pill for narcolepsy/ADHD that would’ve killed my daughter in the pillow/linens drawer. Now, imagine how mad I am for the reason I was using that drawer. Housekeeping apparently uses room 502 to hide & nap or they just don’t clean the bunks. The bunk had no linens, black footprints on the mattress cover, a mostly full Pepsi can wedged into the mattress with lipstick on it, jewelry & dirty tooth plaque pickers. It was FULL of sand. Housekeeping only brought sheets with no real apology & later texted offering a “full service” cleaning. ROOMS SHOULD BE CLEANED BEFORE GUESTS ARRIVE. PAID FOR SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS SHOULD BE USABLE! The room also stunk & the beds are uncomfortable anyway. The good reviews are due to the restaurant and the exterior paint job at the hotel. This is not a safe or clean place for families with children. All this for triple the price of a nicer hotel in Florida or literally any other beach. $1700 for 3 nights lmao. Go to Charleston and live nice for that money. This is roadside motel scummy with a tiki bar.

The only negative I have is the tv. Most everywhere has a smart tv these days and they don’t have that here yet. It had cable so there wasn’t a lack of something to watch but we usually just pull up our account for streaming to catch up on shows we’ve been watching at home so that was a bummer but otherwise everything was great!

We had a nice stay. It is a plus that they have a restaurant and bar at the property. Room is clean and spacious and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It is near the boardwalk with plenty of things to do. Highly recommended.

The beds were very comfortable, clean rooms, great staff. While food was really good the limited time (breakfast not until 8am) and take out only until 11:00am was very inconvenient. No one monitors the pool and there was seldom any towels so everyone had to buy them, and too many unsupervised children in the pool

We had three rooms. Last name is Holleran. I asked the front desk to kindly sweep out the floor and the bathroom at 8 AM on our second day of arrival and it was never done when I call down the young girl at the desk. Over the three day stay we only had hot water one time. On one day we had no water for most of the afternoon. The staff did apologize and state that a plumber is working on things but they did not resolve during the stay

Another perfect beach trip at Golden Sands. This resort is everything you could want in a beach stay. I’ll never look anywhere else again. This was the second time we’ve stayed there and in between I’ve stayed at probably a dozen hotels across the country. Granted not all were for vacation but the Golden Sands sets the bar for hospitality, cleanliness, and just everything! It is convenient and lovely. Next door the Ocean Grill is great for lunch or dinner and the tiki bar is fun too!

Staff was really friendly. Check-in was easy and seamless. We didn't get an Oceanfront view as promised and the room wasn't as clean as expected. What saved this place is that it's literally a minute walk to the beach and their unique tiki bar.

Overall it was a good place to stay with small kids. The room was cute and it seemed very clean. Staff were very nice. The kids really enjoyed the arcade room. The restaurant next door was convenient. The cons were that the Wi-Fi was spotty and it seemed like the parking wasn’t enforced because at busy times the parking lot would be full and we would have to wait for a spot to open up. Seemed like people were parking there who weren’t staying there.

Overall it was nice. Hotel had just change hands to Hilton. We had a hard time with getting towels and the tv didn't work. They did address and fix the issues.

Checking in was a breeze. We arrived before the allowed check in time, our room had already been cleaned, so the lady at the front desk let us go ahead and have access to the room. Our room & bathroom was clean. We had a towl or two that had some hair in them , but we ended up not needing them. The shower was aweful though, very little hot water and very little to no water pressure. Someone with really long hair would really have a hard time getting the shampoo & conditioner out. Also, I did not feel like I got all the soap off my skin either.

Cons- zero hot water most of our stay and very low water pressure. At one point there was literally no water coming out of hot water spiciet in sink. They said they had never heard about this before yet several reviews mention it (didnt see them before trip or would have booked elsewhere), sand on floor upon arrival (also mentioned in several reviews). I get it’s a beach hotel but rooms should NOT have sand filled floors when you walk in ESPECIALLY if the HILTON name is going to be attached to it!

Hotel staff was amazing, friendly and overall convenient when needed. It was easy to check in and out and the best part was being in front of the beach. Unfortunately a storm passed but didn’t ruin my experience at all and would come here again in the future. It was a safe space during an unexpected time. ;)

Given the cost of everything, there was a level of friendliness & service that was very much missing. With all the beautiful beaches in NC, we would not go back and would not recommend the hotel.

Okay Hotel. Staff were nice & helpful. Property had a little revamp- looked nice but quality could have been better. Air conditioning unit was very loud. Overall good place to stay and convenient to the beach.

I really enjoy the location. The staff were friendly and even helped me with my mom and getting our bags upstairs. The rooms were clean, with a balcony overlooking the beach. Parking wasn’t bad. Definitely a great stay!!

This was the worst day I have ever had at a hotel. To get Service I had to beg. We stayed for six days and never had hot water, it was completely out. And this is at the beach where you have sand all over your body and two extremely young children that I had to force into cold water showers. So much more went wrong, but not worth going into.

Our smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night our first night of staying. Then after calling the front desk the staff quickly acted and had someone replace the batteries. Unfortunately the alarm went off during the next night 3 more times. The staff was so nice and helpful but I couldn’t stay another night.

it was a great place to stay . the outdoor pool area was under construction spoiling what would have been a great view. no fault of the staff though. everyone was pleasant and accommodating.

Hard mattress and couch/hideaway bed. Dirty floor. Limited dining. The staff was nice and polite though. We left a day early and they didn't charge us for the night.

The beds were not as comfortable as the hotel I stayed at down the street. Lots of construction as part of the "ocean view" from my balcony. Not the best looking place for the money. No continental breakfast, just cookies & coffee. Great towels & extra blankets. Lots of shops & restaurants in the area, and the tekke hut on the pier was nice.

Everything was updated and clean and being right on the beach is awesome! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We had a great stay!

We only stayed two nights, but we would have stayed forever! From the moment we walked in the staff was amazing and so much fun! The facilities are beautiful. It had everything you needed. It’s in walking distance to tons of stuff to eat, see and do! 100% will stay again and would recommend!

Great updates. But, the price has risen so much since it was private owned. Not sure we will go again (especially after it becomes a Hilton zproperty and prices rise again. Can rent a condo forcacweek cheaper.

We loved the location. Beach and pool access was very convenient. We were in the family suite with the bunk bed. It was perfect for our needs. The coffee in room was really good for a hotel. The water pressure was good and the water was hot. The beds were comfy. There were some renovations going on which didn't detract from our stay. We will stay there again next time we are in the area. We were in town for a funeral and it was a rough trip. We extended our stay an extra night because it was such a bright spot in our trip. Staff was very nice and accommodating as well.

Overall, I had a very uncomfortable stay. There was a waterbug (oriental cockroach) in my room. When asked to be relocated to a different room due to cleanliness issues, I was denied due to full occupancy for the holiday weekend. The hot water went in and out throughout my stay (tough with small children). The room itself was not very clean upon arrival (sand on the floor) humid smell. Rough bedsheets and no housekeeping in sight throughout my stay. On the last day without any warning construction noise right outside my door at 7:30am completeley frightened us and my child out of sleep. Unfortunately, wouldn't visit here again. Despite it being right on the beach and next to a wonderfuel pier.

For the price 1,400 we had no hot water our entire stay. They had dead birds at the pool area. That no one was cleaning up or around the pool area. Housekeeping you had to call and hope they got time to come clean your room. If they can’t get to a room they need to leave a broom so we can get up sand. But again paid way too much! The staff at the front was rude when I left my room key in the room and my husband was out with the other key. Just ridiculous. Won’t be staying there in the future

Great hotel that was right on the beach for a reasonable price. The room was spacious enough for two adults and a three year old. We had an ocean view and a balcony and its own walkway to the beach from the hotel. We felt safe and the hotel staff were so nice, pleasant and welcoming. They were doing some construction, building a walkway from the main building to the pier that has the tiki bar and restaurant, and even though it was an eyesore, they worked reasonable hours so it wasn’t loud or annoying. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night.

First stay at Golden Sands in April and it won't be the the last! Really comfortable, relaxing and fun themed atmosphere to it. It's also well managed and cleainess was exactly how it appears in the reviews and photos. A lot of times oceanfront hotels, even those higher in price, can rest on their laurels by having the views and location to make up for quality rooms and even other amenities. But Golden Sands really delivers all the way around. The tiki bar had great food and drinks also!
