I knew that it would not have great amenities, and I was not expecting that. I also knew that it was an older place which doesn't bother me. However, I did expect it to be clean and well taken care of. The rooms were filthy. There were food stains on the wall in the bedroom and stains on the bathroom walls which I hope was not pee. The toilet had not been cleaned around the base at all. There was a weird musty, food like smell in the entire room. They need to hire a new cleaning crew and do some basic repairs in the rooms like fixing holes and painting. The only good thing was the helpful staff and the price. The air conditioner did work very well as a plus since Carlsbad was very hot!

FALSE ADVERTISING ABOUT NON SMOKING ROOMS!!!!! I am traveling with a baby, which is WHY I booked a NON SMOKING ROOM. Original room REEKED of cigarette smoke! Went to be moved, lady in the office was kind of helpful with that, got assigned another room, IT WAS JUST AS BAD. My baby was coughing, her nose got irritated and congested, and this made her super fussy. DO NOT STAY HERE OF YOU WANT A CLEAN ROOM OR AT LEAST A ROOM THAT DOESN'T SMELL LIKE SMOKE!

Carlsbad is full of men working in oil, and a lot of them stay here. Room has had hard use. It was clean enough, but badly painted and repaired. Parking was tight because all the workers drive big trucks. Not very nice.

The state of the room and bathroom is horrible—hair, mold, yellowed towels, and a bad odor in the room suggesting it isn't being cleaned. It smells musty; they really need to either renovate the entire hotel or hire a better cleaning company.

The night time front desk agent was a very helpful and kind upon our arrival. Lifted our mood from the long days drive!

Looking forward to relax by the pool. Staff inform me that the inspection was taking so long to come and inspect the pool. I understand it's not the staff fault. It was the owner's choice.

My room was ok. I’m currently traveling across the country on my motorcycle on a budget so Motel 6 is the perfect fit. Not too expensive and the minimum comfort I’m looking for.
