The staff and the entire cottage is just beautiful and pleasant.

Dont expect to see things like the photos from website, but if you want quiet, rustic and a great location to Capitolas main street THIS IS YOUR PLACE. Clean room, friendly staff to help with questions. Breakfast was charming and tasted great.

Excellent!

Very quaint and adorable. Ocean view room was great. We will definitely stay again
- 5/5
Excellent location.
- 5/5
Breakfast brought to our room. We didn't have a kitchen.
- 5/5
Lovely setting.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay! Love this place, location, staff, breakfast, and their passion to tend to butterflies. We can’t wait to go back!
- 4/5
The Not So Great: The accommodations, at least in our case were, well... dated and rough...with a bare minimum furnished kitchen - 2 Star rating. The sitting area and bedroom were quaint, but again just needing an update or refresh - 3 Star rating. Conclusion: Overall a 4 star rating. Suggest specifically reviewing accommodations in detail to make sure that is what you are after.
- 4/5
Katrina was amazing giving us a personal tour and walking us to our room. She showed us their amazing work with Monarch butterflies. The views around the property are amazing. Breakfast was delivered daily and was so good. My only complaint was I heard the neighbors upstairs and our sink was leaking a bit. I think it’s because it’s an older inn. But it’s quaint and beautiful.
- 5/5
The Inn was charming, quiet and clean. The staff outstanding. Breakfast was along the lines of a continental breakfast, which was delicious and was brought to our room. We cannot wait to go back there.
- 2/5
Reception and staff are lovely. Beautiful property overlooking a cliff in the ocean. I know they are starting to think about renovation and remodeling and updating and upgrading. This will be a Lovely place to stay once they make the upgrades necessary to be safe and comfortable.
- 5/5
They had a room they were helping the monarch butterflies along. It was beautiful to see and hold the butterflies. Nice fridge with proper freezer. We had a towel warmer in the bathroom . Very peaceful and serene just what I wanted! We will return

Beautiful location! Nice staff, clean room, lovely peak at the ocean.
- 5/5
This was an amazing experience! Loved all of it!
- 4/5
It was beautiful! Comfortable, cozy and Romantic. Continental breakfast was delish and prepared so cute. Was there to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and she Loved it ! Beautiful views as well with a short walk to Capitola shopping center.

- 5/5
Staff were very accommodating and the setting and views were amazing. It was a very enjoyable experience.
- 5/5
The breakfast was also very good! Fresh fruit and pastries along with coffee and juice made our mornings that much easier. Overall, a great stay and would definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Yes, plenty of spots.
- 3/5
The staff was very nice and accommodating. However, This property needs to be maintained better. The grounds ( paths, trees, deck) had not been taken care of in some time. Poison oak, spider webs, dirty chairs/tables where we were to have breakfast. Our room was even less inviting. Steps to second floor are steep, not easy to carry up a small carry on suitcase, and coming down the hand rail was at knee level. Walls are thin, we were kept up by a group celebrating quietly. The rug (wall to wall) had been rolled out over a very uneven floor. Beds were not comfortable, sagged. Sofa and other furniture was too used. Bathroom okay, except they painted over the sink fixtures, and it was flaking off. Not too clean! Maybe other rooms are in better condition? We left disappointed after 2 nights.
- 5/5
Very accommodating! We had our choice of a couple of rooms and picked a room with a great view of the cove and a nice outdoor patio. The manager is passionate about the property and the monarch butterflies. We got a great tour of her butterfly “nursery”. We would definitely return!
- 5/5
Excellent staff and excellent rooms with an unforgettable view!
- 5/5
We loved our stay! Beautiful and clean room and just as described. The staff are lovely and friendly. It’s a little oasis in Capitola.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable, I appreciated the coffee maker and refrigerator in the room.
- 3/5
grout in shower needs cleaning. Overall the inn needs upgrading to keep up with the price being charged.
- 5/5
The staff (Katrina) was very professional and responsive to our requests , love the nature walk around the property

Staff are fabulous. No complaints at all from me. A three day stay with the same exact continental breakfast brought to us was a bit much. They need to have a better selection. The room was old and not very accommodating. It had a great view of the ocean though. It was windy, cold and rainy. We had to stuff paper into the bottom of the windows to keep the cold draft out. I wouldn’t select the Monarch room again. Not sure others are any better.
- 5/5
Everything about monarch cove is just magical... the views, the rooms, the grounds, the staff, the butterflies and hummingbirds ... just beautiful. I've stayed at monarch several times and it is the only place i want to stay.

- 5/5
The grounds are beautiful, with a view of the ocean. The room was large and spotless. Furthermore, the host could not have been nicer and welcoming. This was a business trip for me, and I have found a new place to stay each month.
- 5/5
Very pet friendly escape in a cute neighborhood of Capitola. Lots of stuff walkable, and the Holiday House had a fenced in patio and small back yard that was absolutely perfect for the pups. Breakfast in bed was a nice touch too. Would recommend.
- 4/5
The location was close to downtown Capitola but a bit too far to walk comfortably. Incredible views from the property. The staff was very nice and attentive and we loved the monarchs. The room was nice and private but in need of some minor repairs, especially with the windows. Twice we come in and one of the windows was wide open. The heating was via an electric fireplace and with time this provided plenty of heat. The continental breakfast was much better than expected (or experienced at other hotels). We really enjoyed our stay and would return.
- 5/5
This is a very quaint property. No modern upgrades but very comfortable and enjoyable. The staff was amazing! We were upgraded and felt so special. The property has the best views and is so close to downtown Capitola. We were able to walk there and admire a spectacular sunset. The breakfast was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cozy older place to enjoy Capitola.
- 5/5
We had a fantastic stay at this place. A perfect place to rejuvenate. Marvelous views of ocean, sun rise. Staff were friendly and courteous. Loved the rooms and their coziness. Can’t wait to go there again.
- 5/5
the staff, amenities, and rooms were absolutely charming. it was a wonderful treat staying here, and the gorgeous ocean views were an added bonus. highly recommend!
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Live butterflies just hatched on the check in counter. Staff was super friendly. Continental breakfast delivered to room featuring local pastries. Wonderful experience.
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Thank you all at Monarch Cove Inn✨
- 3/5
One of the bedside lamps had a broken switch. Checkout was dismissive.
- 4/5
Staff was good, learned alot about monarch butterflies.
- 4/5
Everything where nice, clean. The views are great, and the butterfly lady was the nicest part of this stay.
- 5/5
Room was nice. Beautiful natural grounds. Monarch friendly!
- 5/5
Staff,beauty of room, scenic grounds
- 5/5
beautiful place with a great view of the ocean.
- 3/5
I think we were put in the wrong room. Would not see the ocean. We booked this room 6 month in advance and they said we would the see the ocean from the deck. No deck no ocean
- 3/5
The staff was great. Easy check in and helpful staff. The room is dated. The couch is in bad condition. I have been coming here for 10 years and it's the same couch. Very dingy. The view would be much more enjoyable if the large windows were cleaned. The room is in desperate need of a overhaul. Would be nice to update some furnishings and TV. The bed in the main room is very hard and could use a new mattress.
- 4/5
This is a historic inn overlooking the ocean. Views are awesome. Rooms cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was delivered promptly.
- 5/5
Amazing view and friendly staff. Continental breakfast delivered was a plus. Room was spacious with a full kitchen. We stayed in the Rose Garden Suite.
- 5/5
Beautiful, relaxing place to stay
- 5/5
The history of this place, the layout of the place, the quietness and the suite decor.
- 5/5
Historic place and interesting story. Beautiful surroundings with ocean right there. Very peaceful. Delightful to receive warm bagels, hot coffee, fruit, pastries, oj, delivered at pre-ordered time.
- 5/5
Room was clean, pretty, quiet and very private we could hear ppl walking above us but it wasn't too bad. Staff was great. Katrina gave us a little lesson on monarchs when we were checking in. She was kind to wait for our late arrival (accident on freeway). Cleaning staff were sweet and respectful of privacy. A nice getaway and would definitely come back, if opportunity arises Thank you!!
- 5/5
Breakfast in bed. Perfect
- 1/5
The property is in desperate need of a facelift. Don’t understand how the reviews were so high
- 3/5
First room was not as advertised and noisy. I asked to move and the management was accommodating. We did get a much better room.
- 5/5
Ocean views
- 5/5
Beautiful setting and grounds. Very nice people running the show.
- 5/5
The location is the most beautiful place.
- 5/5
The staff was great first of all. Katrina was just wonderful. Very helpful, friendly, informative, and really detailed. The place was beautiful. With an amazing view. Even got some dolphin and whale watching done. Just a very cute place different that’s the big hotel chains. Made the experience a very memorable one.
- 5/5
Unexpectedly charming with a picturesque location and an amazing staff. THANK YOU!!
- 5/5
Loved the well kept funkiness. Love the history. The view from the deck is exceptional. A lovely gem and the staff was so friendly, accommodating, and helpful.
- 5/5
We stayed in the Victorian room, the place has an interesting history and there are a lot of Monarch butterflies around
- 4/5
Nice hotel, mattress was very soft, pillows cheap. Otherwise, fine. Staff is very nice and helpful
- 5/5
Fantastic morning views
- 5/5
Our stay was beautiful and relaxing. It was an experience like no other. Being surrounded by nature , the ocean, and the lush trees and flowers, made for a memorable, peaceful, and rejuvenating paradise experience. We were taken aback by the beauty of this jewel, but most importantly, we felt welcomed and at-home b/c of the friendly , courteous, and kindness of our hostesses. It was a magical experience and we will never forget it. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for sharing the beauty with us and especially for having a sanctuary for its rare wildlife, plant life, and the preservation of our oceans.
- 5/5
Great staff and beautiful view. Very comfy.
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 5/5
Unique Inn with wonderful location. Friendly staff Continental Breakfast delivered to your room was delightful. Close to Capitola village and beach very walkable. Views from the large patio deck are impressive.
- 4/5
This is a pretty, quaint, very clean, property. We were in the Holiday House, which is a separate little house with full kitchen and deck. Easy, close, walk to the Esplanade. The drawbacks in the house is that the pillows are like a flat sponge. There is no cushion or fluff to them. The linens are washed with a fragrance detergent or maybe fabric softener, so if you are sensitive to that, be aware. The many windows are covered with wood blinds and shear curtains, but you will wake up at dawn with all the light coming in, so bring an eye cover, lol.
- 5/5
The view from this property is amazing. It is right on the ocean. We saw whales spouting as we sat on our patio. It is an older property, but kept up well. We even had breakfast served in our room.
- 5/5
Rooms are all wonderful
- 5/5
Staff is welcoming and helpful. Room was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was delightful and served elegantly
- 5/5
It is a lovely place with beautiful gardens and very nice staff.
- 5/5
Wonderful and more inviting than I expected. Welcoming and serene setting with a beautiful butterfly garden, views of the ocean, and excellent service all around. Will definitely stay again with family.
- 5/5
We spent one night and it was incredibly pleasant. The personal touches are what put it above and beyond. Lovely room, lovely people, beautiful space. Recommended.
- 5/5
A charming spot to enjoy some peace and quiet.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Very nice bed and breakfast spot! Clean and safe!
- 5/5
LOVE this Inn! Beaitiful grounds, views and rooms!
- 5/5
Great stay for our special anniversary!

- 4/5
All plugs in the room, needed replacing, plugs would not stay plugged in. Fan in Bathroom didn't work. Passed this on when we departed and they thanked us for the info as most guests depart and leave no comments.
- 4/5
Incredible breakfast and wonderful staff. No longer easy access to ocean as storms took path away. Older property with creaks and uneven floors. Quiet setting.
- 5/5
We took a last-minute trip to Capitola and booked a room at this Inn. The room was spacious and adorable and the beds were really comfortable. The office staff are incredibly sweet and accommodating. The morning breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Very nice stay
- 4/5
Safe quiet
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
The Victoria room has a beautiful bay view. The garden is so romantic. I like the plants , the fountains, the statues and the lovers seat outside on the front porch. There are many little spots you can take beautiful selfies. It was so quiet. I like the interior decoration, especially the fantastic electric fireplace. The linen is okay. I had a good sleep. The only thing needs to improve is the exhausting fan over the toilet didn't work. The tv was not working either but we stay only a short time so it was actually a good thing not to watch tv. Overall, we had a very good memory at this place, the place is romantic, fantastic, convenience. We would come back again and try the other rooms which also have the ocean view.
- 5/5
This place is absolutely perfect. The room felt so cozy and it smelled clean. The property is beautiful and enamoring. The woman that runs the office was amazing and i enjoyed learning about the life cycle of the Monarchs from her. I will be back, for sure. The pastries and fruit delivered to my room every morning were delightful and i would recommend this place to everyone i know!
- 5/5
The manager is extremely friendly and shows us the Monarch Butterflies and its metamorphosis process. Very interesting! The place is lovely overlooking the ocean and we can actually see the whales. Amazing! We love it and will definitely come back again!
- 5/5
This place is a must stay gem. Rustic with an amazing location and charm. If I could, I would live there year round. If you enjoy quiet and beauty, you will love this place.
- 4/5
This is our second year to stay at the inn. It is an older property. It is quiet and scenic. You see the ocean from your window or most places on the property.
- 5/5
Very nice and private stay. lovely place
- 5/5
Our stay at Monarch Inn was very nice. Everything was clean, excellent customer service and was given a complimentary upgrade which was wonderful! Only downfall I’d say rooms do need upgrading.
- 5/5
Great place to stay.
- 4/5
The hotel is very old and outdated. The carpet was very old and dirty. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The breakfast was not tasty and was for one person, not two. The area around the hotel was nice.
- 5/5
This place is absolutely wonderful!
- 5/5
Amazing friendly staff who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Family-friendly. Property is beautiful and historic. We were able to learn about the monarchs, too!
- 4/5
We love the history of this hotel safe butterflies, Al Capone a gangster stay there , this is bed breakfast place they bring the breakfast to your room in the morning, the breakfast start 8:30 am to 10am and they order from French pastry shops , bagel and coffee and fruit and orange juice and other pastries is nice but we like real breakfast eggs and toast ! I give this breakfast 3 stars even they bring to your room but is not real breakfast!bed is ok is kind of hard I like softer bed so my sleep was very light sleep not deep sleep because bed was too firm ! Overall surrounding was pretty give this hotel 4 stars
- 5/5
Perfect, comfortable, amazing location on the coastline. Excellent continental breakfast delivered to your door each morning!
- 5/5
So good
- 5/5
This is a gorgeous house with lots of charm. The location couldn't be better - so peaceful with beautiful grounds overlooking the ocean. Service is friendly and helpful - even helped with the suitcases. You can also see the monarch's chrysalis and they release some everyday as they hatch. Room was beautiful with lots of room. Nice bathroom with a window and lots of tile. Nice breakfast too. Will definitely be back.
- 5/5
A lovely property on the cliffs overlooking the Bay. Nice that the Butterfly room had both a microwave and fridge.
- 3/5
Location
- 5/5
As much as I enjoyed my stay there , it would have been excellent to have a free EV charging station in the property like many other hotels.
- 4/5
Very happy with the location and the buildings although seemed slightly run down overall. Kind of evoked entering another era. Innkeeper was sweet and a multitasker. Our bathroom seemed outdated, some simple changes like a new shower curtain and nicer place to store toiletries would've been simple. Electrical outlet in the bathroom did not work.
- 3/5
Monarch Cove was in-itself nice for a short get-away. The staff was super-welcoming and friendly, but the other guests left me not having the greatest experience. The people in the room above us played bass music for hours, then had a raging "f-you" fight. Sadly, they ruined my trip to a nice b&b. I was looking forward to sleeping with the windows open to hear the outside, but not-to-be. I had to run the bathroom fan most of the night just to get peace. :(
- 5/5
The owner showed us the amazing monarch butterflies catapiller, very special.
- 5/5
Absolutely gorgeous property, beautiful ocean view and nice breakfast delivered to your door! Very friendly staff!
- 5/5
Quaint bed and breakfast in beautiful quiet location. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Charming well-manicured grounds. Got a great welcoming tour from Katrina. Loved learning about monarch butterflies!
- 5/5
Wonderful property! Beautiful grounds, lovely rooms with ocean views. Katrina was very helpful with check in, super comfy bed and breakfast delivered was a special treat!
- 5/5
They upgraded us to a suite. WOW! The concierge was friendly and accommodating.
- 4/5
Our room had an incredible view& the staff was great. And the property has charm, but tired. The shower had little headroom (hubby's over 6') & insufficient plugs. I had an extension cord for electronics to charge & multi-plug for the bathroom which was necessary to get the existing hair dryer plugged in. Breakfast delivered to the room was fruit & pastries (no GF option).
- 5/5
Great location, beautiful views. Love the delivered breakfast.
- 5/5
We had a great time staying at the Monarch Cove Inn, it was beautiful and Katrina was very accommodating.
- 5/5
Great views!
- 5/5
Beautiful location. We stayed in the Lavender room and saw a whale in the bay from the windows. The included breakfast was nice and the staff were even nicer. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Greeted by a very positive and informative host. Cozy cottage with excellent views of coastal wildlife. Very comfortable bed and a lovely and filling breakfast of fruit, pastries, juice and coffee delivered to our room.
- 5/5
Unique ocean view and grounds are in park like setting.
- 5/5
Beautiful property with ocean views! Room was wonderful and great price! Great breakfast brought up to our room. Walking distance to Capitola Village!
- 5/5
Breakfast brought to the room was a nice simple touch.
- 5/5
The accommodations were lovely. The view was fantastic. Loved having breakfast served in our room. An excellent stay, all around.
- 5/5
Beautiful location, I love that you can open the windows in your room and listen to the birds and ocean so relaxing. All of the staff was incredibly friendly, safe location and the light breakfast was great for the price. Such a cute place will definitely be returning
- 5/5
Beautiful serene grounds. We had a very nice and peaceful time. Walking distance to restaurants but away from the hustle and bustle. Will definitely stay again. Katrina was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Well go back!
- 5/5
Love Capitola. Nice place to enjoy the property
- 5/5
Great place!! Unique property in the cut of a beautiful residential neighborhood. Centrally located, but private and staff was efficient and amendable to requests. Great place to go with dogs!
- 5/5
Katrina and her long haired dachshund gave us an incredibly lovely tour of the property (equip with the history of the space + ownership) before showing us to our room. The room was comfortable, adorable and clean and had an ocean view (to our surprise!!). Every morning, the hotel staff brought a platter of breakfast to our room, featuring local pastries, a carafe of coffee, fresh cut fruit and orange juice. Overall, I we felt this place was so magical and are already planning our next trip back!! We also are looking at their wedding offerings 💛
- 5/5
front desk staff Katrina was great!! and beautiful property and room. very clean and serene. would definitely come back!
- 5/5
Beautiful property. We had a one night stay but we really enjoyed our stay and walked around the property admiring the beautiful garden and views. Will definitely come back soon and stay longer. Nice little breakfast with fresh fruits I really enjoyed. Thank you Katrina for being so kind and friendly with us. Cant wait to come back.
- 5/5
It is older but has character. The grounds are beautiful with plertiful flowers and lush green trees and bushes. The bay view is phenomenal. We had a suite upstairs which was an inconvenience but staff more than made up for it. There was an eagle pair nesting there and fishing in the ocean with the pelicans. It is quiet and peacefull and beautiful.
- 5/5
The building is over 130 years old, passed down through generations as a family retreat until it became the Monarch Cove Inn. However, despite its age, there are upgrades to satisfy today's expectations. Perched high along the cliffs of Capitola overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it stands by itself at the end of the road. Surrounded by luxury homes, it is a short 10 to 15 minute casual walk into Capitola Village. Upon our arrival, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. While the evenings are cool, the electric fireplace warmed up the room for relaxing and cozy comfort. The bed was very comfortable, covered in a four-poster style veil, creating an old-world charm. A continental breakfast of juice, coffee, and pastries was delivered to our door in the morning. The surrounding gardens, with an open deck of chairs and tables overlooking the sea and the peninsula, made for a spectacular and relaxing view. We sat there on the deck watching eagles glide through the sky while sipping prosecco. This was our first visit celebrating our wedding anniversary. Monarch Cove Inn is a hidden gem, unique, delivering an experience of gracious charm you will never forget. We look forward to our return.

Perched on a hill with breathtaking views, serene environment, and beautiful accommodations well worth the stay.

What a wonderful and charming places is!
- 5/5
Outstanding views and very friendly and welcoming staff. Landscape gardens are beautiful. The building is very old so it was as expected.
- 5/5
Wonderful location with beautiful nature and available ocean view. Pet friendly and very comfortable stay.
- 5/5
Very beautiful, peaceful place. Great view of the bay. Excellent staff. Tasty breakfast!!
- 5/5
Property is in a great location and is very walkable. The hotel is older but clean nonetheless. If youre looking for a nice room without all the fuss then this is a great place to stay.
- 4/5
Perfect place to stay. Beautiful property. Nice walk to the village (about 1/2 a mile). Room was older but we didn't mind. Bed was super comfy and continental breakfast delivered to room is a nice perk. Excellent customer service. Would defintely stay there again!
- 5/5
Great service nice room very unique

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in the Rose Garden Room at the Monarch Cove Inn, and it was nothing short of magical. The room itself was incredibly clean, spacious, and cozy—with its own kitchen and living space, it truly felt like a home away from home. We immediately felt comfortable and at ease. The property is like something out of a storybook—an old-style house nestled among beautiful gardens, blooming flowers, and towering trees, all with a breathtaking view of the ocean. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and enjoy every little detail. Katrina greeted us when we arrived and gave us a lovely introduction to the property. She was so kind and welcoming, making us feel like old friends rather than guests. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Bob, who was equally warm and friendly. It’s clear that everyone here genuinely cares about making your stay special. Breakfast was just perfect—adorably presented and delicious. It was the perfect start to our mornings, enjoyed with a view that we’ll never forget. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and charming getaway. Monarch Cove Inn is a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.
- 5/5
The office manager was so sweet! She walked me over to my room while talking about the grounds and pointing out the nearby trail and multiple seating areas overlooking the ocean. To top off the experience, her adorable 4-year old pup led the way! This was the most welcome, charming check-in I’ve ever had. Thank you!!!
- 5/5
The company offered a delicious breakfast! The grounds were beautiful, and we hiked and spent time outdoors. I wish we had gone during the fall to see the Monarch Butterflies. The staff was super friendly. We would stay there again. We stayed in the mansion with a view of the ocean. We walked to Capitola and back.
- 5/5
Our Ocean Mist room was awesome. We did have to lug our baggage up a flight of stairs. Breakfast is continental so don't think you are getting the regular bed and breakfast type meal. But the views from the room and it's spaciousness were so worth staying here.
- 4/5
Really nice French pastries and friendly service. Front office staff was very sweet. The carpet needs replacing and the insulation wasn’t very good so there was a cool draft. No security on site and place didn’t feel very secure, although general area is safe and pretty affluent
- 5/5
Beautiful spot in a great quiet area!
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Can't wait to go back!
- 5/5
This is a great quiet property with an amazing view. We'd stay here again! The bed was very comfortable, and staff was very nice!
- 5/5
Also, we have never been served breakfast in our room before! That was so cool. Fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and pastries from a local bakery!! It was delicious. We would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking to get away for a perfect weekend (or longer!)
- 5/5
We were sad to learn Summer had left her position at the Monarch Cove inn. She will be missed. Her replacement Katrina was very welcoming and provided us with great customer service upon our arrival.
- 5/5
My husband and I loved our stay at The Monarch Cove Inn. Now this is an almost 100 year old victorian house on the coast. You don't stay in a place like this and compare it to the 4 Seasons. It has the antique, worn in quality you would want in a place like this. The beds were comfortable, the staff was just wonderful, the views and grounds were lovely and inviting. We can't wait for our next visit!
- 4/5
We had an unobstructed view of the ocean and the service was excellent. The continental breakfast was delicious and timely! Our room was beautifully decorated. The property is in need of repair, but the staff lovingly took care of any needs we had due to a couple of facility issues.
- 5/5
This little gem was great for our anniversary. Very quiet neighborhood and area. Just far enough away from Capitola Center crowds but close enough to walk to it for dinner and drinks. Staff was awesome...Continental breakfast brought to your room, straightened up your room daily, and grounds were nice and tidy. My wife and I would stay again!
- 4/5
Beautiful property but rooms outdated. Bathroom in poor condition.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
We liked everything about this well maintained historic property. We parked the car and hiked all over Capitola dining downtown for lunch and walking over to Shadowbrook for dinner. Next time we will hike along a trail next to the property to a nearby beach.
- 5/5
It was a beautiful hotel and the service was great!
- 5/5
Beautiful property and the very nice continental breakfast. Catrina from the front office was a pleasure and her recommendations were a hit. Will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Beautiful views and very gracious host.
- 5/5
10/10 would recommend. It was quite cozy and the staff was wonderful! It is within walking distance to the beach.
- 5/5
The staff is wonderful!! Beautiful scenery 💕cozy
- 5/5
Beautiful property and very pleasant and helpful staff. Can’t wait to visit again.
- 5/5
Being raised as a local girl, my husband and I have been trying out all the different places to stay when we visit. Monarch Cove Inn did not disappoint, we will for sure recommend and stay again.

The views are increíble and so peaceful place.

The property photos are very misleading. Other than a partial view, there’s zero beach access and no comfortable areas to relax and enjoy the view. The bed was extremely soft and only two pillows so we both slept terribly. The worst part was the grungy bathroom. The 60-70s remodel wasn’t just dated but actually disintegrating, distressed in an unintentional way. The shower was about 7’ high over a tub with a too short curtain so the floor flooded - not to mention that it was disgustingly dirty. We both have gray/white hair and there was a long black hair in the soap holder, and a moldy mat that should’ve been replaced a decade ago. I’d never let my guests see something like that let alone expect them to use it. Lastly the fake “fireplace” didn’t heat - but the room had to space heaters?! I’ll never go back.

Small changes - longer shower curtain and have working bathroom fan. Would definitely visit again!

Such a welcoming feeling. Summer is the manager and is so welcoming! Beautiful property. Very clean. Breakfast was delivered and delicious. Coffee, orange juice, pastries. Definitely coming back to this charming property.

Property was very historic Bathroom sink stopper was sharp and rusty and the TV remote did not work only one channel but other than those things everything else was a delight

Nice, quiet and safe

Needs maintenance and remodeling

Was beautiful area but kinda out dated in rooms paper thin walls

Property was old and very outdated for the price.the carpet is too dirty. Also, it was noisy at night. We could hear footsteps going up the stairs.

Very quaint and great location

My grandaughters and I really enjoyed the location of the Monarch Inn as well as the comfy beds and full kitchen where we could store our leftover pizza and keep our drinks cold. My grandaughter was so happy to bring her dog on thus trip.

Wonderful place to have a peaceful weekend. Wonderful views and the food was perfect at this clean and welcoming B&B

I expected more based on the photos of the room I was booking. Apparently it was not available. Ours had tiny bathroom and it bothered me The rest was good and the area is beautiful.

We loved the location and staff! Our room, the hideaway room, was a little dated and dark. We sat outside on the patio which was cute. The chair cushions were a bit dirty and the roof had weeds growing on it so it seemed a little neglected. However, Summer, at the front desk was very helpful and kind. We love the area and walkability! The breakfast was nice! If they updated the bedding and carpet/interior, we would definitely go back!

Location is great, it’s dated but charming. It needs attention to some few details. Carpet could use a deep clean, and the bed smelled musty. Grounds are beautiful and could be tidying up a bit. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The continental breakfast was a nice touch and done well.

I liked the breakfast. I liked the staff!

On a 24 day road trip down the west coast, this was by far the most beautiful property we stayed at (and one of the most moderately priced). The room shows a little age, but nothing that deterred from the stay.

The property is pretty run down and parking is difficult unless you have a small car.
- 5/5
It was the best B&B place! breathless sights around the place made it real special for me and my wife!

Will be returning to this property in the future

This was an amazing place. It was quiet and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were really neat and clean. I can’t believe we were able to find this gem of a place to stay.

They would not stay again, nor would I pay $350/night for such lodgings.

It was a little hard to find but we enjoyed our stay there. It was quiet and comfortable. Didn’t hardly see anyone else staying there. Very pleasant lady who brought our breakfast we would stay there again. Foggy in morning but that’s only the weatherman fault. LOL.

Highly recommend. Its a very cute place to stay and walking distance from capatola beach.

We had a wonderful stay. Although our neighbors were yelling at each other at midnight! Not the place for that kind of seen.

We stayed in the monarch room and had a slight view of the ocean. It had everything we needed in the room, an iron and ironing board, extra pillows, coffee machine, microwave, fridge, hair dryer. Very friendly staff. It is very old and mostly original which I prefer rather than new. Overall happy with my stay.

What a wonderful and beautiful spot. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Accommodation are great. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location, we got upgraded which was a blessing. Property needs a bit of maintenance but everything else was absolutely beautiful

Lovely Victorian retreat next to the forest above cliffs, dolphins swimming in view from our ocean view! Comfy bed, beautiful gardens, great set-up and clean.

This property is slightly older and isn’t as new, however is it very cute and quaint. There is a slight smell in the Holiday House. Although we absolutely loved the location and the fact that there was a fully gated area where our dogs can roam. The breakfast was very continental. It arrived on time and we got to eat it in the little kitchen area. Overall, a very cute place!
