Reviews
The hotel has a prime location near the beach and various restaurants and shops, but the rooms are outdated and lack basic amenities such as utensils and dishes. The staff is friendly and helpful, but the noise from neighboring rooms and outside can be disruptive.

Location was incredible and the layout of apartment was very sweet for our family. Our master bedroom door knob fell OFF on the first evening and we could not shut the bedroom door, so it was very bright and loud. We called to have it fixed, but when they finally did come to repair it… It fell off after the first use again. Also, the neighbors on the other side of the bedroom wall next to us were so loud. It sounded like they were inside of our apartment and they were talking LOUDLY until after 3 AM!

Nice to stay ,Thanks

I was really stressed out that it took me over an hour to get a hold of a live person to help me with my check-in Beds are really squeaky and uncomfortable Place was really clean and nice over all and location was great

The property was so cute and comfortable. Everything was very clean and the location is next door to the village. I will definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
The location was perfect! Cute area, perfect for walkable experiences. However, the cost for 1 night was a lot considering the place was decorated with mismatched furniture collected from a Goodwill. The towels were also overly use/washed and need to be replaced. The mattresses were AWFUL - they’re so old, Jesus probably slept on them. They should use the money from the over priced motel to get new items so people can actually enjoy the stay.
- 4/5
Loved the walk-in closet! Our lower end unit had partial view. Would have liked fireplace “fire” to be more visible, refresh furniture and maybe replace the dark carpeting. Or replace with waterproof floor covering to lighten up unit? This costs money, obviously. You’ll LOVE that the beach is literally steps away! Likewise, eatery places! First time using contactless unit and parking check-in. BEWARE: Extra daily charge for on-site parking-again, mentioned in description of property, so should be no surprise. Shout out to the ladies (Kerry?, Deisy, Evelyn) that answered my calls, texts and responded to concerns! Shout out to Housekeeping too-they responded quickly! If you are looking for a vintage vibe beach get-away, look no further than The Venetian Hotel in Capitola! Hope to come back again!

WORST experience ever.. the place is nice but the front desk KERI was rude, discriminating, and cheating us charging us 2x saying we need to pay and expedited and accusing us of refusing to pay while I gave my car and she took it out right away. Told my daughters and mom to leave her office cause they were yelling while they were not it’s all on camera ended up calling the police, police didn’t even understand her when she try to explain what credientials are. KERI also refuse to call her manager or give me the correct number for her manager EVELYN that never called us back to apologize or anything. The place is nice the customer service is MESSED UP would never waste my MONEY here again.

Clean room
- 3/5
The inside of our room was wonderful, but even though a kitchenette is offered, there is no silverware or plates, or cookware, and just a couple of random cups and glasses. You practically have to pack your luggage as if you are camping in the woods. They will happily rent you those items.. Pay attention to how they collect their deposit. Normally a hotel will put a hold on the deposit but this hotel actually charges the deposit per night! which takes longer for it to drop off. The television didn’t work the coffee maker didn’t work and the key entry was a chore.

We booked this hotel through a 3rd party and everything was great until it was time to check out. We were told to return our key to the key station with a code, however, it did not work. So I texted the person that I had been communicating with prior (via text and phone) and there was no response. I tried texting a couple more times and still no response. So, I called the number (same person and same number that I had been texting AND speaking with on the phone) and asked for the person by name. She confirmed that she was "Evelyn" but when I asked her about the lockbox and how to return the key, she acted like she had no idea who I was. She said she does not rent out rooms at this hotel, had never spoken to us, etc. and said if we called again she would call the cops! We just left the keys in the key drop at the office and I texted the same number to let them know where we left the keys. About an hour later a "Deisy" texted me back and said thank you. The whole situation was very strange and I am consistently checking my bank account to make sure this was not a SCAM.
- 2/5
Location was great There is no access to actually using the kitchen in the rental because you have to RENT all kitchen supplies. No pots, silverware, dishes,NOTHING. They provided one packet of DECAF coffee with no filter. Why advertise a kitchen if you can't use it unless you rent the supplies in it?
- 5/5
Great place and soo close to everything!

Great location but the inside is run down and dingy.

It was a beautiful place and location.

Its an older property but they keep it up. Its located very well for walkablity around the village area. Parking is handy to have there but would warn there are not alot of spaces and its not set up for bigger vehicles like trucks or bigger SUVs. Big the people i had to talk to were very helpful and friendly. Only a few rooms have a beach view but its so close you don't cross any streets just down a walkway and you're on the beach. You can definitely hear the ocean.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay near the strip. Check in was easy

Balcony view was beautiful of beach and ocean. Room was very clean. Contactless check in and out. Room amenities were great. Very quiet place, near all shops and restaurants, beach.. The only negative thing I have to say is the bed and pillows were very jard

Right next to the road, noisy
- 4/5
There was no one at front desk when I got there just after 7 p.m. I had to call and wait for someone to come. However, the person who checked me in after arriving. Was, very courteous, accommodating, and professiona. The bathtub didn’t have a stopper, though. So, I had to improvise to block the water from draining. Just to have a bath. But, I did receive a Much larger than one I booked. Which was a nice surprise! Of course, the location of the hotel is amazing! Beautiful area. And, I got a late checkout which was very nice! I give 4.5 stars. Enjoyed my stay.

Staff was very courteous and the room was clean. Thank you.

The room was great and the staff very friendly and acommodating.
- 4/5
The accommodation visually fabulous as soon as I opened the door.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean, with a lovely view. It IS right next to the road, so there's some road noise, but not bad. Communication via text was easy and worked well. If you want to cook in the kitchen, bring your own equipment. There is a toaster and coffee maker, as well as mugs and glasses, but that's it. You can rent equipment, or bring your own. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We had room 123. I might look at one closer to the ocean, away from the road next time.

everything was really nice. The only recommendation would be some more comfortable beds and pillow’s other than that I had a great visit
- 1/5
Nothing in the kitchen, no garbage cans, mold in the walls, moldy shower, smelt horrible as soon as we walked in. Got locked out of our room twice for no reason and the second time, I was screamed at by a male manager because I was asking to be let back in and saying he was going to evict us for no reason.
- 2/5
Kitchen had no cooking ware and their would of been an extra charge to use it, shower water comes out of stall when setting correct temperature, nights are really loud you can hear everything and everyone walking by
- 2/5
Tv didn’t work
- 4/5
Staff was great room was fine, 4/5 not the venetian's fault. Wastewater was backing up into the sink and smelled.
- 4/5
View of the sea and beach was okay. Blocked by the houses in the front. Very tight car parking. We found no utensils in the kitchen but next day we came to know thay they were locked in a cabinet, not sure why. TV not wifi connected so could not watch netflix.
- 5/5
Great!! The room was so close to downtown
- 4/5
You need to let us know ahead of time that the kitchen isn’t stocked with stuff to cook and eat with. Otherwise it was very nice.
- 4/5
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location just a walk away from shops, restaurants, and bars.
- 2/5
This room was not clean, had an odor. It was cleaned after our first night. We complained about the noisy fridge twice and missing weather stripping under the door. We were compensated 20.00. We have stayed here before and had no issues. It is a wonderful location, fabulous views, but this room needs repairs. We will not return.
- 5/5
Great place to stay.
- 5/5
It was awesome - the ocean, wildlife & people along with a very nice room with a ocean makes a perfect vacation! Thank you!
- 5/5
Absolutely love it there. Reminds me of a little apartment I had back in the 70s with the cute little stove. But of course the best thing about it is the view and being right on the beach. I mean, that is just totally awesome. That’s why it’s the best place to stay if you’re gonna be in the area because otherwise you’re just in a glass box at least here when you open the glass sliding doors in the window You are at the beach and it’s a wonderful feeling
- 5/5
We had a great time
- 3/5
For this hotel, you are only there for the convenience to the beach, which is very convenient. You are literally a few steps from the beach. But that's it. There is no cooling at all: no a/c, not even ceiling fans. It gets very hot in the room. The noise is unbelievable from the main street right next to the hotel. And the beds are very small and very uncomfortable. My wife and I barely fit on the bed without any room to move. It has a small kitchen which is nice but the heat is too much. The rooms are old with some remodeling but at least ceiling fans would help alot. and one of the beds is in the living room. The room was ocean view, but barely since there is another hotel right next to it that blocks most of the view. The price you pay is just for the location. I would not stay here again.
- 1/5
It was convenient to park your car for the weekend and never have to get back in it until you go to leave. The shops and places to eat and the beach are right there so that is convenient. The reason I give a one star or terrible is because the beds are so bad that you can’t sleep. I ended up sleeping on the couch two nights. The shower is way too small and you bang your head and elbows off the shampoo and soap dispensers.
- 5/5
Great and fast check in!
- 5/5
Perfect location. walking distance is excellent !
- 4/5
we liked the location; we were only a 3-minute walk to the beach. Free parking, all the dining & shops were about a 10-min walk. Our favorite restaurant to eat was about a 10-minute walk. The bed in our room was rather difficult for us. (we're seniors). The bed was sitting a bit high & we needed a stool for my wife. The bed was also against the wall on one side, so you were only able to get out of bed on one side. I'm pretty sure there were other rooms that would have been more suitable for someone in our age group. But we Loved the area we were staying. I would recommend staying here.
- 3/5
The best thing is that it’s close to the beach but our room was ready close to six pm instead of 4 pm as there was only one housekeeper working on a Monday holiday weekend which is weird! TV didn’t work for channels or on demand and it’s an old tv model which doesn’t give you access to your Netflix account, other thing is the noise from the upstairs room you can pretty much hear any steps from guests upstairs, I usually don’t complain but for the amount I paid I was expecting more I guess!
- 3/5
Excellent location. Understandably this is not an upscale property and the main value is in its location. But I think there are a couple of easy fixes to improve the customer experience a lot. We stayed in Room 141 - the blinds don’t work fully and being right next to the parking lot and the walkway it is hard to sleep. Some real blackout curtains would be very helpful. Another problem is in hot summer days there is no effective cooling. One of our bedroom had a ceiling fan and that runs extremely slow and is ineffective, the other bedroom had none. We called the office and asked if there are tower fans. There was none - I think adding some modern functioning cooling options to the guest rooms will greatly improve experience.
- 2/5
The best part about this hotel is the location and that’s about it. Way over priced for what it is
- 2/5
First they do not answer thier phone! Could not confirm reservation or unit as requested. Then poor attitude from staff in giving customers any time at counter. Room was below sidewalk so every foot step was heard. There was a metal gate attached to the room wall that clanged LOUDLY with every public and resident who walked through ALL NIGHT LONG.
- 5/5
Really a charming hotel!
- 4/5
It’s a nice area but had a lot of street noise
- 5/5
Awesome
- 2/5
This is not a hotel, it’s more like a motel 6. Definitely not worth $300+ per night. Arrived and checked in Friday. Went to our room 136, which had not been cleaned yet. We had to return to the office and wait for them to call about 30 minutes later. The way the bed is set up in room 136, my husband to climb over me to get out of the bed. Just a weird set up and cob webs in the ceiling, the toilet rocked when you sat on it. Just gross honestly. Expedited more for the price. Location is great that’s about it.
- 5/5
I liked the spacious rooms and kitchen.

Loud neighbors. After hours staff was quick to address it after complaining. Walls are thin so noise is unavoidable. Bugs flying around in bathroom. Outdated appliances and rundown furniture.
- 4/5
Property is well maintained. Staff was very difficult to reach, surrounding area is amazing.
- 4/5
Front desk staff not customer service at all! Booked a full kitchen unit advertised as 2 queen and 2 double for 8. Had 2 queens and a broken down pull out sofa. Kitchen had NO cooking pans or utensils. Asked office if rhey had silverware for the kitchen and ahe said we can rent them for $50. Bought plastic at the corner market for $2.89. Location and.room otherwise nice. Need to let customers know they need to bring everything for the kitchen
- 4/5
Parking: it was tricky where to park, you have to go and call them once you’re there to lift the boom barrier. Staff: the front desk was real nice. She’s at the very front with the really tiny office. Cleaners are available only upon request. Room: there was an initial smell when you first go in and maybe you get used to it you don’t really smell after a while. It is not a bad, bad smell, more of the building having been flooded as well as being old. Having a kitchen was great. They have stove, coffee maker, toaster, microwave. Bring your own cooking pans if you plan to cook. No plates but coffee mugs and cups are available. Restroom was small but functional. Convenience: Close to the beach, close to the restaurants. We loved walking around and going back to the TINY HOUSE as we called it. We didn’t care for a perfect room just because we stayed out most of the time and only really came in to rest and sleep. IT’s GOOD if you don’t care so much about having too fancy of rooms.
- 1/5
The location was nice as it was beachfront access in Capitola Village. The room was not quite as described, lacked in proper bedding for the number of people it could sleep. There is a kitchen, but did not provide any kitchen pots, pans or dishware without an additional charge. They also also charge for additional parking $20.00 a night for each vehicle. This would be quite expensive extra charge for multiple groups. There are only 2 rooms. Listing makes it look like you have 4 rooms.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff
- 2/5
Nobody was in the office. Had a wait an hour and a half before somebody came no towels in the room when I called they said they were out of towels and they were in laundry not good.

No complaints. More view than we expected even ❤️ Nice anniversary stay!

This is our “go to” when we come to Capitola. Front desk staff was exceptional! Can’t beat the location.

Beautiful views and wonderful location!
- 5/5
Loved staying in unit 123!! 2 balconies, fireplace and nice kitchen. There are no utensils or plates in the suite so plan accordingly if you bring food or take out. The main bedroom can be noisy at night but I was fine with my fan and sound machine. The views and location make up for the noise!! The staff were accommodating, courteous and very kind!
- 5/5
Great staff, nice and clean.
- 5/5
We were on the beach. This is for the low maintenance traveling family. We had a great time and will be back.Bring earplugs because the walls are thin.
- 5/5
It's a low maintenance vacation. Not a 5 star experience, it's all about location. Bring ear plugs to sleep. And expect to have sand everywhere. Enjoy the beach life
- 5/5
I didn't know this was the "colorful" property I had once seen before when picking up a relative from the area a few years back. It's extremely close to the beach and close to the downtown area (restaurants and shops/boutiques), convenient to walk to. I would not recommend #133, as this is at the corner and riddled with foot traffic and folks gathering for too many selfies. (It fits seen to have the only cool-looking door though, with a pelican on it. 😆) I appreciated the opportunity to check in early ($30 fee). I was aparri made aware of the same fee for optional late check-out of 1pm, which is 2 hours beyond regular check-out. So if you want to grab breakfast before leaving the property and having to pay for public parking, this is a viable option. The fishing pier is within walking distance as well, with a boat/bait/fishing pole shop near the end of it. All-in-all, the hotel receptionist was kind (once I explained I was told I could check in early by evening receptionist and not demanding it on the spot) and provided information about the area and some things to do. In fact, they were the reason we went to Shadowbrook for lunch the following day, which was magnificent. Definitely plan on renting from here in the near future. Thanks again!
- 5/5
Right on the beach.
- 4/5
I see people talking about the smell... You're a minute from the beach! It's going to smell beachy, like there's seaweed that's floated up getting bad from time to time. Expect that. Don't be so judgemental. It's a phenomenal place, lil apartment feel, amazingly comfortable bed with odd big blinds that open up into the "living room"? We loved the uniqueness!! Thank you! We will be back again! ❤️
- 3/5
Check in isn’t at 11 like Expedia promotes. It’s at 4 so make sure you call an advance to make sure
- 3/5
Great location
- 3/5
The property was nice and clean. The beach is conveniently near by and shopping and restaurants where also near by. The only thing we had to bring our own cookwar, dishes and utensils. Other than that we really enjoyed it.
- 1/5
For the money paid for the room it is definitely not worth it. The property is very dated and it wasn’t very clean as well. Only reason we stayed there is because it’s convenient to the nearby dining and shopping otherwise would not stay there again. Be advised there’s a lot of restriction as to what you can and cannot do on the property.
- 5/5
The front desk staff were amazing at checking me in. The hotel room had in a small household refrigerator and a coffee pot. There was a nice little dinette. Everything was clean and welcoming. It is very walkable across the bridge to restaurants and shopping.
- 3/5
The tv was set to only one channel and didn’t let us change it.
- 2/5
The location is great, but we werent happy with the room amenities, the bathroom was very unpleasant and small.
- 1/5
They replied to a text saying send a prepaid FedEx, which we did however, they have not printed it out. They haven’t printed them out or mail the keys. They haven’t returned the keys terrible customer service.
- 5/5
We stayed the night decided to add another night so we had to deal with the same check in person two days in a row equally rude/unfriendly both days.
- 5/5
walkable shops easy access to beach… night and quiet at night….
- 4/5
I waited on my review until i heard back from the property regarding the fact that we jad no running water our departure day (no coffee, showers, or flushing toilets!). Although the initial reaponse to my call was handled poorly (answering service?) and the water was out to the whole building and was not resolved, they were quick to respond and make up for the unacceptable issue. The location was fantastic, rhe first very cold night was quiet and adequately heated. Thanks to earlier reviews, I brought my own kitchen items to save the $50 fee to use theirs (but could not clean up after breakfast due to no water). I would stay again. Two beds requested and i got 2 entire bedrooms, which was not expected but perfect for me and a friend.
- 5/5
I would like to came back soon 😊

Love the location.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay. Our room appeared very clean, until we went to bed. The sheets had not been changed from the previous people because the bed was full of sand.
- 4/5
Excellent rooms. Nice view. Quiet and clean.
- 3/5
Description Pictures very deceiving as it shows river and ocean views from unit. Ended up with no view except units in front
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Great location to walk everywhere in Capitola. Parking available for reasonable fee. Cute hotel.
- 4/5
Cute little property. Great value for the money. Very comfortable.
- 4/5
Incredible views and great room. Lots of space for the family. The one thing is we got a room with a kitchen so we could cook in the room and they had nothing in the kitchen. They charge $50 to use their dishes and utensils and another charge for pots and pans. That was disappointing so important to know if you are choosing a room with a kitchen.
- 3/5
Great views of the ocean in my room. Also amazing location. In the town of Capitola and walking distance to Shadowbrook Restaurant! I was a bit confused as to why a room with a kitchen did not have anything but a coffee maker, toaster and glasses? I have stayed here many times but always had a stocked kitchen.
- 5/5
The view was wonderful from our room. To wake up to the sun rising and the ocean waves was beautiful.
- 5/5
Everything we did was within walking distance.
- 5/5
Always love staying here.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay. Great location and view of charming beach front town. Room with a view and fireplace was so cozy. Beds comfortable and relaxingaccommodations. Back in a heart beat.
- 2/5
It is a great location, but too much noise at night, I had to pay extra $50 for pots and kitchen supplies, though it was advertised as a "full kitchen". I asked for the invoice and the proof that they charged me extra and they refused to give me the receipt. Not worth the price they ask! poor customer services!
- 5/5
Pretty good spot.
- 1/5
The room had no TV and very dirty
- 2/5
I've stayed here years before and it was so much better. The check-in service took forever and us having to come back multiple times. They first gave us a room that still wasn't cleaned. Bed a mess, pizza boxes on the table, etc. Just was not a good stay compared to years before and especially for the price of one night.
- 3/5
S of restaurants around and walkable to the beach. If you need kitchen kits you pay $25. Bette rto get room upstairs as you can hear steps from the 2nd floor..
- 4/5
Amazing stay, the bed is a little firm but everything was great. Will definitely return
- 5/5
I like that it's near the beach and walking distance to shop and eat.
- 4/5
Right along side the beach in the beautiful town of Capitola!
- 4/5
All in all, a pleasant and peaceful experience. Chosen for location as much as for the property's unique history, CVH is a place I would gladly recommend to others. Don't expect a lot of frills but do expect a quiet and charming environment. Waking up to the sounds and scent of the ocean can never disappoint. Late night check in was quickly provided by a friendly night manager via an intercom at the parking lot gate. Parking on site was reasonable and convenient. I'll be back.
- 4/5
The hotel is very quaint and we enjoyed our stay overall. The walk to the beach was the highlight. Walking distance to the town was a huge plus! The only complaint we had was the bathroom was very small and not as clean as it should have been.
- 5/5
the 2 things I did not like was that if you arrive before 4pm you were charged 30 dollars. they also did not say you have to pay 15 dollars each night to park in there lot. We paid over 700 dollars for 2 nights I think we should have had free parking.
- 1/5
The room was dirty and smelled bad the bed was behind a half wall so you couldn’t see the TV and the TV didn’t work. And the check in clerk wouldn’t even let us in the parking lot because she couldn’t be bothered on her ‘mandatory break! We will be asking for a refund from Expedia.

The main strength of this motel is its proximity to Shadowbrook restaurant, just a few minutes walking, perfect for avoiding driving after enjoying one of the restaurant's amazing wine offerings. The motel is also by the beach, but it is not on the beach, and any view from the ocean-side rooms is blocked by other buildings. There's a nice kitchenette, and everything was visually clean, but an odor of staleness permeated the room. The staff was friendly, but the nickel-and-diming policies were annoying.

As always a easy, nice stay. Super convenient. Friendly staff. Only side note is this new $15 a day parking??? What is that about? If you want to raise your rates, raise them but don't hide them in the "parking fee".

We had a beautiful view and the seating area was very comfortable! It was a plus to have a kitchen available so we could just enjoy staying in and relaxing after a day at the beach .

We stayed in room #133, which is the end unit right by the bridge and busy street. It was noisy because of the people/car noise, but the location was amazing! No views though. Spacious room with a gas fireplace. Pull-out couch with a 2nd bed in living room and another bed in the bedroom. Stove/oven was small, but big enough to cook on. Full-size refrigerator. Would stay in this unit again, even with the noise.

Great location parking was important.

Location was great...right at the beach

We stayed at this hotel because the direct access to the beach and short walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Staff was great and we had a beautiful view of the beach. Parking is extreamly tight for larger vehicles. Inside the hotel room it was outdated and smelled a bit. Probable from the old carpet throughout the room. It wasn't horrible, but when you're paying $665 a night, you don't want to feel like you're staying in a rundown Motel. It might be a good idea to invest some of that money to modernize the rooms.

I didn't know where the office is. There isn't great customer service for the price you pay. You can leave a voicemail and no one will return your call. There's an arrow pointing to the office but it is not the office. Bad service and guidance overall. Views and to sightsee ok, but I would recommend staying somewhere else.

This was a fun little beachfront apartment. We enjoyed staying there and will do it again.

Great location, friendly staff. However, not worth the price. The room was somewhat poorly appointed and the bed was uncomfortable. If the price were $150 less, this place would be awesome. But for how much we paid, the value just isn’t there.

Great stay!

Is there such thing as too close? This is it. Great location with easy access to the beach and Capitola Village. Parking is impossible. Older hotel and shows its age. The biggest challenge is the fact that it's so conveniently located to the beach that families let the kids run around and act Out of control. There is no peace. Screaming and yelling 12 hours a day.

We never got to the hotel. Need a refund. Tried calling several times, no one answered. Drove 5 hours home that night. Terrible customer service. Hotels.com please help with refund.

The young man that showed us to our room wanted to charge us 25.00 for kitchen supplies. This was not mentioned in our initial booking.
