Reviews
The Safari Inn & Suites is a well-kept, vintage-style hotel with a convenient location, particularly for visitors to Universal Studios. Guests frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and free shuttle service. However, some guests find the beds uncomfortable and note that the property can be noisy.

What a pleasant surprise to find this iconic motel! vintage vibe with modern rooms, we would definitely book again. Room 225 was super quiet and away from elevator and pool, but Room 218 for my travel partner was next elevator and was noisy through the night and early morning so I would avoid that room.

Classic roadside American Hotel but super clean looks very updated and so quaint. Staff is extremely nice. Would stay again

A wonderful piece of movie history, with courteous staff and clean rooms. Centrally located in Burbank.

This is an older property, but that's OK, as it seemed to be very clean. The staff was very friendly, but we ran into several disappointments. Check-in time is shown as 3 p.m., we arrived at 3:30 pm and had to wait an additional 30-40 min. for our room to be ready. Two days before our arrival, we received an email that parking was $25/night but there is a shuttle available to/from BUR as well as local attractions, so we decided we would just use the shuttle. It turns out that the shuttle has to be booked 2-weeks in advance (for every trip needed) otherwise it's not available. Maid service was indicated to be every two days. We were there Monday-Thursday. On return to our room Weds pm, the room had not been serviced so we asked when our room was to be serviced. The initial response was that housekeeping would be there shortly, then a little while later we were informed there would be no housekeeping as they were short-staffed. The light in our closet went out on our second day, and we were informed maintenance would take care of it right away. Maintenance never showed up.

Great stay at Safari Inn Burbank-Universal, a Coast Hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a very convenient location near attractions. Would definitely return.

Great stay! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was very convenient. Would definitely stay here again!
- 2.5/5
Housekeeping was great The inside of the room is old and the bed is very old and hurt my back badly. The coffee machine is terrible and you have to use cheap plastic as a filter. The A/c unit is extremely old. The fridge is old and stank. There were no cutting board knives or pans or cooking supplies. The Stoves are all old. There’s no breakfast and the coffee machine at the front desk was broke down the whole time except one day of the four I was there. The pet cost of $35 per pet is expensive but at least they allow animals. The charging of $25 for parking per day is extremely greedy. The front desk lady is nice yet out of touch with the fact this hotel is over priced and in desperate need of renovations and a lot of the things I mentioned wouldn’t even cost that much extra to renovate.
- 4/5
We were hesitant to try the Universal shuttle as it wasn’t a guarantee that we would get on the reservation time picked. The staff were polite and helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. Close to universal and plenty of food options. A restock of the kitchen utensils and just putting the A/C on a few hours before our arrival are the only suggestions I have. Overall we had a great experience and would stay again.
- 5/5
We liked the pool and the location. There was no breakfast but there was a yummy donut shop close by!
- 3/5
Great location. You get what you pay for. Parking lot is very narrow but there is street parking available. Room was stuffy and AC did not help. It was just humid with no circulation. Call front desk and they didn't have a solution. Also asked for late check out since we checked in late from a long drive, they told me to call after 3am. Service is sub par.

Amazing staff

The toilet kepts getting clogged. The website says there is a kitchen. There is no microwave and the fridge barely works. We asked for clean towels because we stayed 2 nights and we had to wait a few hours. Then it said they had breakfast on the website but when we checked in it said no restaurant/closed. We got really upset and the next day I see they updated Expedia that there was no breakfast. Then the lady wanted to charge us for the parking space but it was full. She even said she couldn't guarantee a parking space and we'd have to park in the street if there was no parking. Yet she was ready to take our$40..... ill never stay here.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, great pool, and an excellent location near Universal Studios. A perfect stay in Burbank!

Reasons for the 4 rating. The pet deposit and fee were outrageous. 1) A $300 refundable deposit AND a $35 / night fee!!? I have never paid both at any hotel nor a deposit of that amount. Plus it took 5 days for me to get my deposit back and I had to call the hotel and the bank to make it happen. 2) It is impossible to find, especially at night. Directions from Apple were confusing and the intersection around it has traffic coming from 3 different directions. Overall a good stay.
- 5/5
The shower was good, clean and new fixtures. The room was back from the street and quiet. The bad was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked well.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for us. It feels like a safe area and it's a very clean City. The hotel is very clean the staff are very friendly and helpful. The only thing that would probably stop me from going back was the bed. It was a bit stiff for us, and we did not rest as good as we would have hoped to.

this location used to be my go-to location in Burbank, had a great restaurant and Bar which is now closed. the lobby had a horrible awful "air fresh " machine. Staff was unfriendly. Hotel property and rooms were subpar. I will not be staying here again.

Y No tiene desayuno
- 4/5
Everything was pretty good. Bed and sheets could use an upgrade along with the shower towels. Also small odor but I believe it's just age of the hotel. Other than those couple things everything was great and clean and close to shopping areas and entertainment.
- 5/5
This hotel was perfect for our family trip. The rooms were large enough for everyone to feel comfortable, and the staff treated us so kindly throughout our stay. The location was quiet but still close to restaurants and attractions.

Amazing charming 20’s motel - I can vouch this gem gives a unique experience then a typical motel! Will stay again Rooms need electric stoves

I stayed here on a business trip, and it was perfect. The work desk in the room was very handy, and the WiFi was strong and reliable. I also enjoyed the fitness room and the outdoor terrace for some fresh air. The hotel is clean, modern, and the staff were attentive. Walking to nearby restaurants was a plus.
- 5/5
I had a great overall experience. The property was clean and well-maintained, and the room offered both comfort and convenience. The workspace in the room was very useful for my trip, and the WiFi worked without any issues. I also liked the helpful attitude of the staff, who made everything smooth and stress-free during my stay.

Clean room, good staff, just wish they have a place to refill water bottles.

Very nice quaint place within 8 minutes of KBUR airport and with a nice blue pool and upper deck to sit and enjoy the light traffic and have a view. Very nice clean room and friendly helpful staff.

- 2/5
The staff were great. The room was dated and had a very strong smell of mildew.
- 3/5
The motel needs to refresh their towels - all of ours were frayed. The shuttle was out of action on the day we needed it, with no other provision made or offer of assistance. I also asked the reception for vegan food options - they didn't know any and didn't offer to research any. There is a $25 charge per night to park your car - there is free street parking next to the motel (apart from street cleaning on Fridays)
- 3/5
We just used the room to sleep. It’s one of those you get “what you pay for” situations. It was acceptable. Traveled with kids.
- 4/5
Good, not the quietest street.
- 4/5
Excellent location, the staff was great given that they were new to the area, the facility was clean. I loved the rooftop patio but didnt use the pool. The only issue was a miss understanding of a charge for self parking on my behalf. I am not a fan of parking fees adder at a motel as the 5eason your there is because you more than likely drove there. Other than this personal peeve,I would highly recommend staying there if in the area. Very convenient to the Disney Studio but a bit further walkto the Warner Bros. Studio but doable.
- 4/5
Staff was super helpful & friendly, shuttles were convenient, location close to Universal, everything about our stay was lovely. The only things worth a mention is the overpowering perfume/air freshener spray smell in lobby through our stay and the pillows on bed weren’t the best.. the beds were decent though!
- 4/5
The property was very clean and the staff were excellent. We used the shuttle to Universal Studios to save some money on parking so that was a nice perk. The pool was clean and comfortable for swimming even in the lower temps during our stay. My only critique would be our bathroom was showing age and needed some maintenance. Other than that the stay was great. Would go back again.
- 4/5
When arrived on location to check in they charged my card for early check in 65 and parking 50 for 2 nights. Then they changed my room 2 times do to not having communicated with housekeeping about early check in..
- 5/5
Ice machine was broken so had to walk across the street to their sister hotel. But I love this place so it’s okay with me😀
- 5/5
The property was very nice and clean with staff being very helpful.

This best property in Burbank, the property is old but very well maintained and modern rooms! Will come back - amenities are excellent and equivalent to a 3.5 star hotel. This isn’t a motel and more so an experience and destination living the 90’s and experiencing the past! NOTHING

I had a great experience at Safari Inn, a Coast Hotel. The location was very convenient, especially for visiting nearby studios and attractions, while still feeling quiet and comfortable. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained, and the staff made the stay even better with their friendly and helpful service. I also appreciated the classic Hollywood vibe and the relaxing atmosphere after a long day exploring the area. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay that I’d definitely recommend.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and provided us with a wonderful room. Guests also have pool access, and their sister property features an amazing restaurant called 'Retro Bistro,' serving delicious food. The area is safe, making it an iconic place to stay in Burbank. Everything was absolutely fantastic—there’s nothing to dislike about this incredible property.
- 5/5
This is truly a iconic hotel! Stayed here before with old management, and I can tell you the new management is really up keeping and restoring this place with new standards and minor add ins. While they charge for parking the rates are still cheaper than before !!!! Love it Nothing

Our stay was great!! My family and I are not fast-food people and having the king suite with kitchen was more than amazing. We drove to whole foods just down the road and were able to get stuff from the olive bar and items for breakfast and have heavy snacks to bring back and make ourselves. Super convenient if you have picky eaters or dietary restrictions. Pots and Pans were okay. We got creative and used what we had to make breakfast sandwiches and bake monkey bread. We didn't use their coffee maker. We are spoiled and brought our Nespresso maker that fit perfectly on the kitchen counter. If you are bringing your own vehicle or renting a car the location is perfect to get to places. We were never more than 20-40 minutes from the locations we went to. USC, LA Zoo, La Brea. It just depends on freeway traffic. Use the caltrans app if you can.
- 4/5
The location is wonderful in the heart of Burbank. The hotel parking lot is sufficient. The rooms are big and clean. Most hotels provide at least one bottle each for patrons. This hotel did not. We needed additional cream for our coffee in the morning and were told there was only 2 available for the entire hotel patrons. The hotel charges a parking fee when clearly, they already own the parking lot and are not paying for any offsite parking.

Great stay. Neighborhood is nice with plenty of things nearby. Parking lot is a little small but no issues with the service.

Easy check in- clean room and friendly staff. Would visit again!
- 4/5
I thought the $25.00 for overnight parking excessive.
- 4/5
The parking wasn’t so great but they had a parking lot across the street that we parked in even though we had to walk a little ways the rooms were clean. It’s just an old hotel and I’d like new everyone there was super nice and it was super convenient.

Locality, close to where we needed to visit (family not Disney) Unpleasant odour from the air conditioning unit so couldn’t use it

Clean room, nice people. Parking was tight, and the shuttle was fully booked when we reserved our room (3.5 weeks out). They did let us arrive early and park so we could make it to universal. But the shuttle was part of the reason I booked here.

Cozy and quiet
- 5/5
Overall, I would give this hotel five stars. Very clean very safe neighborhood and convenient, and close to many activities and restaurants. The only thing is the parking should be included per room and not charged per night, because there are plenty of spaces that remain empty all day. Other than that, I look forward to staying here again soon
- 0.5/5
Nothing, it’s run down I didn’t like anything. The so called Deluxe King was old and dirty. The bathroom was small. The only closet was in the bathroom and the doors weren’t even on the tracks any longer. Not to mention all the kids running back and forth around the upstairs outdoor hallway. Super disappointing.
- 4/5
Safari Inn still has some of its original 1950s charm, notably the iconic neon sign, modest swimming pool, and quirkily laid out parking lot with palm trees. It's on a busy, noisy street, and sitting on the deck atop the porte-cochère puts the traveler rather on display. While the lobby reeks of chemicals and the on-site parking costs $25 per day, the basic room itself was tidy and clean. The boxy in-wall air-conditioning unit runs loud. The bathroom was stingy with bath towels, a few of which were fraying, and lacked souvenir mini shampoos and lotions—a card informs one must purchase those in the unpleasant lobby. Some of the stucco on the pool wall was flaking off, exposing black beneath. The place could use TLC but one assumes that would cost more than the management has deemed profitable.

The hotel was very retro, with a great vibe, and a great location. The beds were very springy and the towels were threadbare. The front desk service was excellent.
- 4/5
The staff was very professional and courteous. The sink outside of the bathroom has its pluses and minuses. The plus is being able to use it while the door is closed. The minus not as much privacy. The shudders in room 205 need to be fixed or replaced because there is a gap hole on the right of the shudders that could allow anyone to look inside. The $25 dollar parking fee that was just added on December 2025 is a drawback. I was able to find parking outside of the lot, but I could see how difficult during the week it could be because of the no parking signs due to the street cleaning. Luckily, we were there on a Saturday night so it wasn't that difficult. I noticed that because of this parking fee the lot to the hotel wasn't as crowded. I wish that the Safari Inn would rethink their pricing because what should be apart of the price for the hotel room. Twenty five dollars is an exorbitant amount of money. Maybe dialing it back to $5 dollars per night would show their appreciation to their clientele who decided to reside there for the night.
- 4/5
Fairly clean, convenient location.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
The property is nice and retro feeling. Has a really cool patio you can sit up top & look on the beautiful mountain views. The staff is so nice and helpful. The ladies were so sweet ! A shuttle to universal was provided, Which was so helpful and both drivers made my son & I feel very comfortable. Telling us about their favorite rides and drove safely. Will be staying again :) reasonable price . It’s not a luxury spot if that’s what you want , it’s a comfy place . CVS is close , a convenient store and small restaurants. Wouldn’t recommend the Asian wok place across the street pass on that. The neighborhood behind is gorgeous take a walk ! See you soon in July .
- 5/5
Amazing property! Perfect location! Will definitely come check in again
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, staff was very kind. Would recommend.
- 5/5
The motel was nice and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly enough. In the end, it is just a motel but was nicely kept and very clean. Be aware that the parking is very tight for larger vehicles.

- 2.5/5
Clean. $500 extra deposit on credit card. Room had a kitchen but no dishes and two spoons, forks. Swimming pool is minuscule. Photos mask its small size.
- 5/5
Not a fancy location, but so nice! The staff are so nice and accommodating. The rooms are a good size and very clean. Lovated in a safe area. I would definitely reccomend thid location.
- 4.5/5
Location was excellent! It kept me close to the things I needed to visit during this trip. Room light over the small service area was not that bright. All good otherwise.
- 4/5
It was a pretty decent play for being in such a busy and popular section of Burbank. The staff were quick to respond to any questions or concerns. The rooms were very quiet and very comfortable. I would definitely come back again on our next visit
- 4/5
Staff was very kind, and communication via email happened prior to check in as well as a follow up email after check out. Room was a little warm at first, but AC did work slowly and kept room cool; even with LA having extreme heat warnings. Beds were comfy, and having a fridge help. Wish each room had a microwave. Didn’t use the pool, but seemed nice. Cool sign at night. Parking @ $25 a night was high, but you do have an option to park on the street.
- 4/5
Family friendly hotel near Universal Studios. Hotel is old and could use a refresh. The beds are firm and perfect for me. The pool area is basic but functional. Pool is not heated and cold but kids don’t mind. Rooms were not ready at 3pm and a hand full of guests had to wait but check in agent was nice. Free shuttle was convenient and a nice to have. Parking for $25 a night seems unnecessary for the area and hotel level.
- 5/5
Very clean room, no carpet.
- 4/5
Pros / cons Shuttle bus very convenient but you have to book the pick up and drop offs ahead of time, because it will be booked very fast and limited seats. I had nice room king suite with kitchen in the corner but it was next to laundry, ice room so people in and out little noisy. King bed mattress was little noisy and uncomfortable for me, Pullout couch also not so comfortable . Love the room layout separate setting area. Kitchen is convenient nice cook where need an upgrade. Has nice big full size refrigerator. Area is feel safer cleaner. Had a few restaurants and fast food groceries cvs all within walking distance. Staff are nice.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, safe neighborhood and a must stay for fans of true romance
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and the staff was great. The location was nice with coffee and eats within walking distance. The pool was clean and cool and a great amenity for the hot weather. It was a close drive to the LA Zoo!

The room was clean, the staff was helpful. We used the shuttle to Warner bros and Universal. We enjoyed the balcony, checking out the iconic sign and views.
- 4/5
I like that definitely looks renovated. The rooms are big and nice and clean as a little worried at first by the outside it just looked like a lower end motel, but it was actually I did not care for the receptionist forgot her name but one she just said really loud that my card declined and told me to get another card, I had no other card and she basically was telling me to just leave and go somewhere else I refuse to ,sorry I made a booking and I knew the card worked so then she finally figured out tap to pay and it would’ve been nice for her to come up with a second option to begin with and then I inquired about the shuttles. I asked about the latest I can get it and then after I paid for it, she told me oh we don’t have it between those times so I was really upset about that so I paid for a late check out for no reason because I would have to get on the earlier shuttle to universal again other than that was great stay

Great stay
- 3.5/5
Our room was clean, almost no musty smell. Overall the facilities were in good condition & the staff was attentive. After ALL OF THE miscommunication the shuttle to Universal Studios Hollywood was great. The issue was with the communication at the front office w/the clerks in person, via email and texts both to the hotel & by way of the app. The main reason I selected this hotel was due to the shuttle convenience & the dissatisfaction was due to this "not being" reserve for us, I did have to pay a local taxi. I complained via email & in person, the clerk promised to refund me the entire parking fee. Once that comes through to my credit card, I will be satisfied & my overall opinion will be a satisfactory one.
- 5/5
This was a great stay for me and my family! Our room was very clean! The staff was nice and welcoming. There is street noise but it’s not to bad. I was tired enough to tune out and had a great night sleep.

The free shuttle was great but the only issue we had is that the beds were so small it was almost like a large twin bed.

Pet friendly and staff was great

Great value, very clean Bad windows, could hear any noise oitside
- 4/5
I think it’s kind of over priced for the type of hotel this is. other than that it was fine.

Parking and pet cost extra. Food and drink located across the street in different hotel. Breakfast not included. One dead cockroach on floor under sink.

There was a problem with the door lock. The key worked at first as I entered the room and then left all of my items inside and then went to put the parking card on my car's dashboard. When I came back the key would not work. The front desk person's master key also did not work. What is NOT ok is that the maintenance person, I was told "lives far away" and therefore I'd have to take a seat in the lobby and wait. This was at 9:30 pm after I put in a 12-hour day as a business traveler with more meetings the next day. If it wasn't for the ingenuity of the front desk woman who figured out a way to pry open the window, then use some long instrument to reach the door and open it from the inside, I don't know how long I would have had to wait, separated from all of my belongings including my phone. Kudos to this employee, Purva, but this hotel needs a LOCAL maintenance person and should test their electronic locks regularly.

The property was very close to universal studios. The room was clean and nice enough with a large kitchen. They do offer a shuttle but it’s a bit hard to use it when you have to schedule a time slot. Most hotels run on an hourly schedule so you don’t have to plan so far ahead. With a long drive up to this area it’s impossible to predict when we’d arrive because of traffic. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The walls were also super thin. The person above us was walking around till midnight then was up at 7 am and didn’t stop making noise till we checked out at 11am so we didn’t get much rest.

Right from the happy welcome to leaving this place is perfect. We will never try anywhere else. The room is well decorated and good shower and amenities. Absolutely spotless and the perfect place for all the studios and Hollywood in general. This is our second time staying and won’t be our last, love it. I think the lady on reception was called Sheree, sorry if I pelt it wrong, her parents live the next town over from us in England, that was surreal. Thanks for the warm welcome after the trouble we had with a previous hotel.

I loved this little gem. It was clean and perfect for the price the only thing I would mention is that they have. $25 parking fee on top of the room fee etc. I would stay here again though even with the fee.

Staff was great, the only issue I had was the bed / shower. Bed was a spring mattress which made a ton of noise anytime I rolled over and the shower temperature would fluctuate. Other than that great location and otherwise pretty quiet

Over-all, for the type of hotel, it was pretty good. The rooms were clean, but could use some cozy updating. The shades were old and broken and it has a cold feeling. Nothing special about the rooms at all. And for these reasons, I felt it was over-priced for the quality. I could've gotten a better room somewhere else for the price I paid. However, it was a safe neighborhood and a conveniently located... near a lot of attractions, restaurants, stores within walking distance, etc.. The only real issue I had was the fact that when I booked it via Orbitz, I was quoted a cheaper price, but was charged a higher price and didn't know it until afterwards when I looked at the receipt, and they would not honor the price I thought aI was getting when I called. That was frustrating, but not the hotels fault.

A perfect stay for visiting Universal Studios. The shuttle service to and from the park was very helpful.
- 3/5
The room was not as clean as I hoped it would be. Coffee or something to drink would've been nice in the lobby. Or perhaps a bathroom for those who do not want to go inside the room.
- 5/5
Great location for all our daily activities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A little noisey as it is located on a busy street, but would definitely book here again. Shuttle was very convenient.

Clean room. Nice staff
- 3/5
The hotel is very old looking from the outside but rooms are very clean and basic serve the purpose if you’re just there for a short stay. The best part was the free shuttle to universal studios and airport!
- 5/5

- 4/5
Restaurant was good!
- 5/5
Everything was great! The location was brillant, staff amazing and helpful! And my daughter loved the heated pool
- 4/5
Parking lot is tight, but available. No iron/board in room, had to ask for at desk. No microwave in room, only communal in laundry room, ick. Staff very nice. Towels small and rough, one is not enough per person, especially when one washes their hair. Location is awesome, and free shuttle to Universal Studios very welcomed perk.
- 4/5
It was unfortunate that our room was not cleaned on 3 different occasions. It was the timing of our being gone and returning before it was done. There were a few occasions where the shuttle was not available. It was not reliable.
- 5/5
Room was clean and pool was nice. Great place to stay with a great price!
- 5/5
I booked this hotel due to the positive reviews and also the complimentary airport shuttle AND area shuttle to Universal. We had 3 different shuttle drivers and all 3 were very kind. We arrived early (before 4pm check in time), so we went to eat and did some shopping. Once we went back to the hotel, our room still was not ready but the male receptionist asked if we'd like another room that was ready. He even let us view it to make our decision which was fantastic. Everything we needed was walking distance and we would stay here again :)
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly
- 5/5
The heated pool was just the right temperature for a refreshing swim in the evening. Old school hotel with lots of memorabilia and well maintained. The room was clean and comfortable. Nothing over the top just quiet comfort.
- 5/5
Very comfortable
- 2/5
It’s close to the beach however in my opinion, just kind of a creepy place. Lights flicker shower runs for about two minutes after you turn it off as others mentioned there’s a patio door that has no lock on it so you sleep with your door unlocked, and my check-in wasn’t that great the guy at the front desk was just grumpy…
- 5/5
Clean room … great staff

Great place to stay
- 5/5
I love the Hollywood history and the rooms clean and updated. Staff was friendly.

Thank you Safari Inn
- 5/5
The shuttle service was fabulous! On time and professional. 5 stars on everything.
- 5/5
My sister and I stayed here two nights as part of a girls trip for her 50th birthday. We loved the hotel! The staff were friendly and professional. The grounds and room were very clean and well kept. The pool was crystal clear, the perfect temperature, and we enjoyed a swim both nights. We utilized the free shuttle to Universal Studios, which was exactly on time and convenient. This hotel has been featured in some movies and television shows and we just loved the classic feel of it. Can’t wait to stay here again!
- 5/5
Nice shuttle to downtown area and Universal Studios. The pool was very nice. It was like a retro motel. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Arrived earlier than expected, they were able to accommodate me within the hour with a room. Room was clean, staff was helpful, I have no complaints. One thing to be aware of when booking is there is a $250 charge on debit and $150 charge on your credit cards for incidentals. So come prepared! Other than that this hotel will always be my family’s favorite while visiting Universal Studios. The card shop across the street, liquor store, and Mc Donald’s are all within a 3 minute walk.
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 5/5
Airport shuttle was only on the hour
- 5/5
Love the Hollywood history at this hotel! The room and bathrooms were clean, and the front desk was pleasant and professional. It was super close to Universal Studios too
- 4/5
The airport shuttle made a special trip just for us, which got us in almost 45 earlier than we were planning - so appreciated!
- 5/5
Clean room, very nice staff
- 1/5
The room was clean. The beds were like sleeping on a rock. The staff was rude. Don’t recommend.
- 5/5
Ive stayed at this property twice for a universal studios trip and both times were great! Its local, upkept and has a shuttle service that is free. Late check out is amazing. I would recommend if youre there as a couple get the king suite with a kitchen. The double beds are a bit tight for two people but thats soley on me for booking later. I will continue to use their property in the future. Very clean property with a heated pool!
- 5/5
Loved it, the pool was really awesome, they were really friendly with my dog and we had an overall awesome time. I would definitely come back here again. I wouldn’t even make the trip out of my way to come here.
- 5/5
Nice affordable hotel. The shuttle saved me $200 in transportation costs! Great location near Universal Studios Hollywood and the Burbank airport!
- 5/5
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The room was lovely and there were little elements such as Starbucks coffee, deodorant, toiletries and a bottle of water which were nice little touches. We used the shuttle to downtown Burbank and Universal which was so convenient. The staff couldn't do enough to help, the hotel and the area are wonderful. Would highly recommended and will definitely return.
- 4/5
We stayed for universal they also have a great shuttle service just book in advance it does get booked up at popular times.
- 1/5
Don't bring your pets. It's not worth the aggravation and pet fees. You will be watched at all times and can't relax. Not worth the headache and price.
- 5/5
Safe area, nice staff
- 5/5
Clean room. Safari inn is very well placed for shopping centre and attractions.
- 5/5
Fair price for a decent room, nothing too modern but everything i wanted for the price. Clean, good room service, ok spring matress.
- 5/5
Comfortable beds and pillows. Good location for most attractions.
- 3/5
Would not stay here again. We tried something different and will stick to the Hilton and Sheraton for Universal.
- 4/5
- 5/5
Convenient location to the studios theme parks. Easy parking.
- 5/5
All was great thank you
- 5/5
Dining options are close enough to walk to. I felt very safe staying with my two kids.

- 5/5
This place was absolutely perfect, so cute so clean and the pool was perfect after a day at universal studios
- 5/5
It was a great experience. We visited Universal studios 2 different days and had drop off and pick up available. We enjoyed the pool area and the quiet nights on the balcony.
- 5/5
Good time
- 5/5
Staff were fantastic, including the shuttle bus driver. And the location is great.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and comfortable. They provided room service every day, so nice clean towels every day. There was also parking whenever we needed it. The location was very close to all the places that we needed to visit. Will stay here again the next time we visit Burbank.
- 5/5
Old school motel but updated.
- 5/5
Really nice vibe
- 5/5
This was our third time staying at the Safari Inn. It is our go-to place to stay when visiting family in the area. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Close to restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Excellent stay. Good price for the location and condition of the motel. We stayed during a road trip and after staying in various states of motels it was so refreshing to stay at the safari inn. Service was great, room cleaning was fabulous and everything felt very cozy. The pool was lovely to use in the evening and you can see the stars. The shuttle bus to universal was excellent, always on time and a clean and safe transfer.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
We love this place. It is calm and people are nice.
- 5/5
Great staff, comfortable beds, clean rooms and convenient shuttles to surrounding areas!
- 5/5
Liked the free parking, shuttle to Universal Studios, restaurant available on sister hotel property, heated swimming pool and friendly staff. The staff went above and beyond when my husband left his cell phone in the room and was delivered to the airport within an hour. There was nothing that we disliked.
- 5/5
Excellent all around! The staff was great, everything was very clean, the room was comfortable and the pool was great. We even got housekeeping even though we were not out of the room till late morning. Convenient to all the things you want to for do in the area. Overall will recommend.
- 4/5
Other than that it's a nice place for a quick weekend getaway.
- 5/5
We had the best stay at Safari Inn. Great location in Burbank, loved the area. The hotel staff were fantastic, really friendly and helpful. We used the free shuttle to Universal Studios which was a cherry on top for our stay, drivers were great. Shout out to the pick up driver (Luis* sorry if that's wrong) he was the nicest person, made the journey extra special and is a credit to the hotel. The pool was great, room great. Would highly recommend and if we are ever back in the area would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The availability of the shuttle to and from the park and hotel
- 5/5
Clean and unassuming. Great retro vibe. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean and comfy room. Pool was nice. The deck was nice to chill at night. Location was great! The only thing we wish we had was a microwave.
- 4/5
Several quick food options within walking distance along with a drug store. Shuttle service was a big reason for us booking…property could benefit from a second shuttle, if you don’t have a schedule pre booked your options are limited…the single shuttle is popular. We had our days planned and scheduled prior, but wasn’t able to make any changes due to other visitors already having the drivers time. Paying for ride shares was not an expense we had planned on. Pool was good and refreshing to wrap up our trip. All of the staff was very friendly. Overall great stay at this quaint property.
- 4/5
Good value for our trip to Universal. Close to the park and convenient. Free parking on site and my kids enjoyed the pool.
- 5/5
Enjoyed that.
- 5/5
Great location, close to all of Burbank’s restaurants and activities. Excellent daily room service, even though we didn’t request. Also, the air conditioning was very responsive. Very comfortable bed. We will stay here again.
- 5/5
Great no frills property. Just a simple motel that has more than adequate rooms for a place to stay close to Universal without a parking fee. It was less than a 15 minute drive to the garage. The pool was crystal clear and the staff was awesome. The only downside was the noise at night. I just put some rain sounds on my phone and that did the trick.
- 5/5
Great place to lay your head down for the night. It was clean and served a purpose. FYI- if you plan to use the shuttle, make sure you reserve it way ahead of time. Time slots fill up fast too. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is not bad either.
- 5/5
Room was clean and quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The VIP amenity of “two drinks” was two small bottles of water. The room upgrade mentioned in the review survey was not included. We rec the room we booked, no more, no less. The hotel was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the location was convenient to where we wanted to go.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing! I enjoyed every moment of my stay.
- 5/5
Great location, free parking. Clean and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Convenient base for exploring LA, clean and tidy, pool fab, shuttle to Universal / Warner Brothers excellent, staff helpful. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Staff are excellent and making sure our room is clean everyday! Even when you not told them to change linens and towels, we were surprised everytime we would get in the room from our trip that the room is neat and tidy.
- 5/5
- 5/5
Unique vintage with Hollywood history.
- 4/5
The Safari is a charming mid-century flash back. Very clean and comfortable and convenient to everything in the valley. Only criticism is the towels, though they say are 100% cotton, they aren't as absorbent as one would expect. I suspect that they are laundered with a fabric softener which affects their absorbency. Small criticism. Everything else was charming.
- 5/5
Great choice to explore Burbank area/universal studios park!
- 4/5
Restaurant next to property was nice , good service but food quality not the best
- 5/5
The room and bathroom were clean. The bed wasn’t that comfortable, but I’m just used to my own bed. We got a 10% ofc voucher for breakfast at the restaurant next door. It was only 1 night, but we would stay again if we go to universal studios again.
- 5/5
We stayed for a family trip to Universal Studios. This was a good family stay. I enjoyed the area it was located and the staff was friendly. I really loved the shuttle to the park they we exactly on time overall great stay.
- 5/5
Loved the pool and walking to some restaurants
- 4/5
A good motel for a short stay if you don’t need many amenities.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my stay. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Also very close to many great shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
Nice views, nice area
- 4/5
We were really impressed with the front desk staff as they were knowledgeable and very friendly. We were also able to book the shuttle to Universal and Burbank airport (the shuttle returning from Universal was already full). We did not find the beds comfortable and there was a lot of noise from outside as there was a large gap at the bottom of the door.
- 3/5
There was a strange smell in our room
- 5/5
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Always clean and comfortable. Great location and staff.
- 5/5
Friendly & welcoming.
- 5/5
Stayed for one night. The staff used fast, friendly service and the room was clean. I enjoyed my time there.
- 5/5
Excellent! Everything as expected!
- 5/5
The staff is super friendly and accommodating (specially Dawn or Don) and the shuttle service was really good. I would definitely comeback. thank you
- 4/5
The Safari is a charming retro motel in the heart of Burbank. Everything was updated and charming. Only thing that surprised us was that their 100% cotton towels didn’t absorb moisture very well. Hope this can be improved. One consideration is that The Safari does not offer a breakfast option, but they make details led to their visitorx s 10% off card for a cafe next door. We were impressed that The Safari accommodated recycling by having two trash baskets, one for regular refuse & a blue one for recycling materials. We appreciated this.
- 5/5
Great stay. Clean, close to Universal, amazing shuttle service and the pool was great for the kid.
- 5/5
Great place. Very convenient. Clean and great staff.
- 5/5
Simple and very safe
- 5/5
Clean and staff was friendly, close to universal studios too.
- 5/5
We had an amazing experience. Everything was so clean and neat. I really love that they offer shuttle to universal studios. Tha only thing I did t like was the coffee maker, it had some white residue, so I didn’t use it. But everything else was great. We’ll definitely coming back.
- 5/5
Such a cute property!! We loved our stay! We did need to upgrade because the room was a little too snug for us.
- 4/5
Motel look Hotel feel!
- 5/5
This place is an iconic motel in Hollywood! Staff was friendly, free parking, clean, safe, free shuttle. I can’t recommend enough!!!!
- 5/5
Clean, extremely friendly and efficient.
- 5/5
Spent a night here before a 7am flight out of BUR and this was the perfect relaxing spot at the end of our 5 day vacation and so close to the airport with multiple gas stations nearby to fill up the rental. The room was very clean and comfortable and the place very quiet despite it being a Friday night. The pool was heated and lovely and they provide pool towels at the office. Easy parking and lots of stores & food nearby. Very friendly staff and easy check in.
- 5/5
Close to restaurants. Pool was fun. Very accommodating staff.
- 4/5
The only drawback- check in time of 4:00 precluded using the pool or sundeck before a dinner reservation😢.
- 5/5
Be sure to book your shuttle in advance
- 4/5
.
- 4/5
Great location, Grocery outlet and CVS right there too.
- 5/5
Great place. Close to everything.
- 5/5
Nice rooms in a cute motel. Rooms are modern inside with the cute old 60’s vibe on the outside. I only rate it down a bit because of parking. It is a small parking lot and not easy to maneuver around if you get back in late and parking lot is full. We got lucky as there was one last space available, but it was tight. The plus is that you can see your car from most rooms and it isn’t a far walk.
- 3/5
Con: One of the staff told us we have to reserve a disability parking. She was not accomodating at all. Fortunately, the male staff was more considerafe and knowledgeable. The parking lot is very cramp causing another guest’s car backinf up into another one. Very basic for the price we paid. The best part to this is definitely the shuttle to and from Universal and the distance aside from that get a better hotel. Also, no insulation to the second floor so if you are in the first floor, you can hear everything upstairs!!! Will not be back!!!
- 4/5
Good location, clean room and shower, easy perming. Only negative is the horrible lighting in bathroom makes the make up / getting ready routine extremely difficult.
- 5/5

Had a great one night stay at the Safari Inn. My kids, my wife, and I had a wonderful time swimming in the pool and sunning on the deck. The room was very comfortable. There are a lot of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We had a great dinner at the Tallyrand (a Burbank classic) and grabbed breakfast at Donut Prince before heading to the airport. We would certainly stay at the Safari Inn again.

Charming hotel near Universal, Hollywood and Warner Bros. Studios. Rooms were very clean. Staff was friendly. The only negative waa the beds weren't very comfy (they were pretty hard). But overall, a great place to stay.
