Reviews
The hotel has a great location and clean rooms, but the size of the rooms and bathrooms are a common complaint. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, but there are issues with the shower, sink, and noise from construction and other guests.

The staff were very helpful, but the room was way more bare bones than i expected. First floor rooms are noisy due to the proximity to the lobby.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable minimalist room.

The rooms have portable AC units & on hot days its awful inside the room. Simply doesnt blow cold enough. Couple in room next to me left 20 mins into their stay because the air conditioning was awful.
- 5/5
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. The only problem I had was the door to my balcony didn’t lock, so I had a little rough time sleeping as

Overall this stay was fine. Nice bed and clean. Expect a small room. Very close to Union station stop. The noise really got to me by the last day. The front desk running the vacuum at 7:30 am after a night of people coming home at 11, 2 am, 4am and starting to leave for their day at 6 am. The doors are a heavy slam. I was in a room on the same floor as the front desk and I could hear everything they say at that desk. It was a no sleep weekend until I found my earplugs.

Proximity to Metro No notes
- 5/5
The facilities are good, and the staff is very kind. The hotel is very near from a metro railway station. In total, it’s very much cost-efficient.
- 5/5
This was a no-frills place and that's what was expected. We just needed a bed, bathroom and coffee and that's what we got. The hotel and the room were clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the price was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. The staff was very friendly, helpful and always asking how we were doing. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I'm sure to book there next time I go back to NY.

Excellent location with subway across the road to take you uptown. No fridge in the room for drinks.

I loved how helpful and kind the staff were. I loved how quiet it was inside of the hotel. I felt very safe there which was important because I traveled alone.

good location in dowtown brooklyn. excellent bakery accross the street. good transportation connection with R line to Manhattan air conditioning not functioning no change of linen during 6 nights inneficient coffe/tea machine and nobody take care of this in spite of continuos remarks to the front desk
- 4/5
The bed was clean if not particularly comfortable. The room was clean enough that it didn't give you the ick, but it sorely needed a good mopping. Proximity to an R train station is impeccable. Also a nearby bagel shop that's pretty good.

That was close to 5th ave … that’s it The place is one of the worst case scenario…. For the last 30 days I have stayed in 13 different hotels around New York due my work . Firstly : No TV ( fix it after one day upon request ) , no AC after the system was not working they brought me Fan even if I asked to change room , outside of the building junkies 24/7 . No housekeeping for two days .I recommend not to book at this place ….

Absolutely no sign of the cute outdoor patio table set up that's in the picture online - there's a roof area, but it's not accessible to guests. Bottom line, it was functional and very clean, but not really what I would call "boutique."

Woke at 3am to what I assumed was a guest blasting music. Turns out it was the person working the front desk and their friends. Terrible night sleep as a result. Unacceptable.

Very tight room, it was ok overall

I’m generally a fan of the micro hotels (why spend $$$ on a massive room when you just need a place to lay your head?), but the Industrialist was a mini micro. A queen sized bed shoved up against the wall made it impossible for two people to get in and out of bed without climbing over each other. Luckily we only had backpacks for a night because there was no surface to put an open suitcase. The mini sink was outside the bathroom with a small mirror over it - watch your head! It just wasn’t conducive for two people to move around without crashing into each other. The air conditioner was broken. After turning down to a reasonable temp, it would reset hourly back to 84 degrees and window didn’t open, making it a long, not, sleepless night. On the positive, the staff was very nice.
- 4/5
We were most impressed with how clean and well kept the room was.
- 1/5
The pictures do not accurately depict the space and set up of the hotel.
- 3/5
Location, clean, bed/pillows the shower There was high humidity when we arrived, which I think caused a bad smell. The sink is very short in relation to the faucet and mirror area, which was very inconvenient as water inevitably dripped onto the floor.

The staff was super friendly. This is definitely like a New York 7-8 anywhere else this is like 5 or below. It was nice enough and close to the subway which was great. Bathroom is super tiny. It was a pretty good experience I just would’ve preferred to stay at a Hilton or something which I considered but wanted to save a little bit. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t incredible but the people were cool and it was not a bad stay at all

The facility is very clean This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. You can hear every conversation at the front desk. Front desk attendant should ask people in the foyer to keep voices down after a certain hour. The cleaning staff started vacuuming the room next to ours at 7:00 AM.

We had a great stay at the Industrialist for 2 days before our cruise from Brooklyn. The accommodation is clean and well equipped and is good value for money. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent for subway access and 5th Avenue which is great for evening strolls.
- 3/5
For the price it was fine, but the room sound proofing was non existent. I could hear people coughing in the hallway like they were in front of me. Also, I didn't love the sheets, pretty low thread count.

Tristan and Christian at the front desk are wonderful! So helpful and kind. Always smiling the way that makes your day. It's a micro hotel: Stay in a good area where real estate is sky high for a reasonable price, no frills. Spotlessly clean. Location right on the Subway R train, get anywhere in Manhattan and Brooklyn easily. Groceries and coffee shops right there. We do mean No Frills. No safe, fridge, microwave, room phone, no amenities but a coffee maker. No food or restaurant. Rooms are very small. Folding luggage rack provided but if more than one person is in the room, no space to open it. Suitcases must go under the bed at night. Sink faucet is absurdly long, as other reviews say, almost impossible to wash hands without spills on the floor. Why? We put a towel at the sink like a bath mat and learned to work with it. Bottom line: We'd stay again for the people, convenience and value for money. But it's because our family lives right nearby and we're very no-frills folks.

Perfect compact and chic room, awesome shower, nice bed, very clean, and great staff. Kind of hard to "get ready" in the bathroom (just lack of surface space and tiny sink), but other than that it was cool and convenient, great location if you're familiar with Bk and the city, great coffee spot right across the street. Spacious self-serve locker for your suitcase if you have to stow bags for a couple hours.

The first night I arrived the aircon wasn't working. They offered me a discount and gave me contact information to speak to the manager, I have not yet received a discount or refund. I have emailed multiple times and have had no response. The rooms are ridiculously small and do not look like the pictures. The first night I arrived the aircon wasn't working. The website photos and reviews are deceiving. The property appeared clean but is definitely no frills! The lobby is dark and the room was extremely small. The shower was so tiny that the entire bathroom was wet from use. While it served our purpose for one night, we would not choose this property again.
- 3/5
Proximity to public transportation. Air condition was not functioning on the floor of the room I was provided throughout the duration of my stay 5/18-5/20. Thankfully was provided a fan, which helped to a small degree

Very comfortable bed, room was compact but totally fine for a few days, location right by subway stop was super convenient, folks at the front desk were pleasant and responsive. The plumbing. Dear God that idiotic plumbing. The sink and shower that I’m sure was designed for the former Sonder before IHG took over the property, where a shelf covers fully half of the width of the sink, and there is nothing preventing water from just spilling out of the shower. Seriously just a stupid setup, but Sonder was kind of known for prioritizing style over functionality, so not surprising. That’s really the only reason The Industrialist is not on my radar for the next trip to Brooklyn.

Check-in was easy, Ken was super friendly and explained how things work. I liked the key code access to rooms and facilities vs having to keep up with a room key. Hotel lobby and rooms were very clean. I'm a larger guy and would have preferred a room with a larger shower. The water pressure was amazing, but it was so cramped that I was touching the wall and the shower curtain the whole shower. Also shower pan didn't drain as fast as the water came from the head essentially making a shower timer before the basin filled with water.

Best room when you arent planning to stay inside most of your stay. The bed was super comfy. They give you a white noise machine which helped me a lot since I cant stand sleeping in silence. The only issue was the long check in— not the staff member’s fault. Super close to the subway.

It’s a nice one night stand. It’s a trasit hotel good for a night while being in Brooklyn. Nothing fancy. Clean. Small room no thrills. Exactly what I was looking for that night. Seems they are opening and working out things. Wanted to watch some TV but couldn’t figure out their system. Guy at the counter had no idea. The night technician was not there. Didn’t really feel that safe at night there.

Front staff were great especially Christian, the manager! The rooms are always really clean, location is perfect! The bathroom sink faucet could be shorter
- 3/5
The shower was impossible small. The in room coffee maker had to be replaced to work and was not properly working. One night there was a 3:00 AM argument in the hall, the desk clerk told the participants to knock it off, they went outside and continued their argument until 4:00 AM under my window. The desk clerk said they were sorry and would make it right, but so far nothing. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I am tall and skinny so I could almost take a shower but it is crazy that some one designed such a thing.

Great location!
- 2/5
The place is totally run down. I had stayed at a Sonder in the past and now that it’s under new management and just reopened I thought it would be good. They didn’t refresh anything during the new ownership. The beds are good and rooms seemed clean but everything else is in rough shape. I had great concern when I got to my room and the lock was broken off. Dissatisfied I decided to bring this to the attention of the staff and check out early and go stay at a better kept hotel. When I asked for a partial refund I was told to email the GM and they would respond. They didn’t so I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you are ok with mediocre service and conditions.

Super clean and quiet, and the shower water is very warm and comfortable . Since my flight arrive at NYC at 6am, l was super sleepy and tired. But the supervisor of this hotel is super nice, helped me to check in sooo early for free!!!! The atmosphere is super nice, and it’s right next to the subway, even l go back alone around midnight, l don’t feel scared. My trip in NYC is very satisfying, which is definitely attributed to this place!

All the staff was great. Jessica in particular was a joy. Great location & beautiful facility. Only issue that I meant to bring to the attention of the staff was that the shower tended to leak & puddle on the floor at there was no rubber guard on the bottom of the door.

Only problem I had was the wooden floor had warped from water from the shower making it very difficult to open and close the bathroom door. Great place, great staff, great stay!

The staff is outstanding, the location is nice, and the room is typical for New York, which means it's small. However, my overall experience was excellent.

I loved this hotel. Firstly, it is very unique, similar to your usual hotels, but here, they make it feel like home. Staff is very welcoming, Jessica and Christian were always able to answer any questions and they made my stay in NY very easy. They figure out if you need anything before you ask them for anything. I will definitely be booking here again the next time I come back to NY!
