Reviews
The hotel received mixed reviews with guests appreciating the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. However, there were several complaints about the lack of maintenance, outdated facilities, and issues with wifi and room service.
- Cleanliness
- Comfortable beds
- Lack of maintenance
- Outdated facilities
- 4/5
I would strongly suggest putting no-slip strips on bath floor and/or installing grab bars for elderly patrons' (like myself) safety. Would have liked it if the breakfast opened at 6am instead of seven am.
- 4/5
The property was older but in good condition.
- 3/5
Ask for a room you want and which side. The room had a musty smell until we turned on the AC. Suggested they turn the AC on before guests arrive. Also the bathroom floor in the handicap room was like a skating rink.
- 5/5
It was good value
- 3/5
Humble older property, but rooms were solid, clean, newer furnishings, functioned well (4 in our party). Check in wasn't so great at 4:30 p.m. - no staff at desk, waited a bit before seeking help (could hear staff laughing and talking behind the scenes somewhere), and the employee that emerged to check us in was icy and irritable. Our 1-night stay was good enough, but housekeeping knocked on our doors at exactly 11 a.m. as we were rolling suitcases to cars to make sure we were checking out on time. Could have been a good value, but didn't feel like we were in good hands here and wouldn't choose it again.
- 4.5/5
The bed was so comfortable
- 2/5
The sink was slow draining. The shower was too hot and when you tried to adjust it by turning it towards the cold, the water just trickled out and it was still too hot! The floor was so dirty my feet were black and had to be washed from walking across it. The staff was nice. The breakfast was fine: waffles, frozen Jimmy Dean egg sausage, cheese croissants, cereal, toast, bagels.
- 4/5
Rooms were comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed and location was great. The outside appearance needs to be updated at least some minor changes to enhance appearance and first impressions. Maybe even some planters/flowers or minor cosmetic changes.
- 5/5
What a convenient location! We had a hiccup when checking in Friday night, kept calm and Barb, I believe that was her name, got us into our room. There was plenty of options for breakfast.
- 2/5
Chair smelled like dog. Probably need to shampoo both the rug and the chair. Breakfast was good tho. And it was cheap. But I won't be back.
- 3/5
Bathroom had cockroaches, water damaged wall no exaust fan did not work. Refrigerator had a loud nose we had to run the ac / heater all night to created white noise , beds were comfortable, 8 out of10 for clean
- 5/5
The room was clean, love the lobby, basic breakfast needs, very kind staff! Great location we were just minutes from our Asheville amenities.
- 5/5
Nice clean room. Just an overnighter but the staff was friendly and efficient.
- 1/5
This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had
- 5/5
Property was very nice and clean. Friendly and professional staff. Breakfast was good! Will be staying there again my next trip to the Asheville area.
- 5/5
The beds and pillows were what I would imagine laying in clouds felt like. If all Quality Inn properties have these beds and pillows will book at these properties.
- 3/5
The first room we were given had not been cleaned. The second was good enough but the sink leaked on the vanity, and the toilet would cycle on and off noisily and there was a light that didn't work. They did have popcorn in the lobby, and frozen breakfast sandwiches, which I liked.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Would definately stay again.
- 5/5
yrs
- 5/5
pretty good for the price
- 2/5
Booked the stay based on reviews but they were not accurate. Disappointed
- 5/5
it is clean, ready to go and staff available
- 4/5
The room was a good fit for our weekend in Black Mountain. There was some wear and tear in the room, and I wish there has been more options for breakfast, but the king bed was very comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot.
- 5/5
Across from Ingles so we can get meals and hot breakfast. Stayed in BM for family event so this hotel was in great locale.
- 4/5
Good price for area , room amenities good, staff friendly.free breakfast not impressive .
- 4/5
They don’t clean their grounds especially outside their office Our bathroom looks like the walls are under construction and the lights stained with rust spots and the frig was a mini jackhammer all night! When I checked out and mentioned the matters the clerk didn’t seem to care.
- 5/5
Place was clean, staff was friendly, and it was nice and quiet
- 5/5
Stayed Oct 18, 2025. Staff was awesome
- 5/5
Furniture and light fixtures in bad shape. Looked like some mold in the bathroom. Lobby in the morning was not open until 7
- 4/5
Great location this motel seemed. This hotel was nice but older,
- 2/5
Overall it didnt meet the expectation.
- 1/5
Ice cold shower at night and the next morning! And you can hear every slamming door next to you and above...good luck trying to sleep in! Needless to say, I will not be returning back!
- 3/5
Needs updating
- 1/5
There were bed bugs breeding in the dresser drawer, young nymph babies crawling around and an egg sack.. we are very grateful because we found them before touching the beds or bringing our stuff in the room. We informed management, got refund and left.
- 4/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Everything about this motel was great ,from the staff to the room !!!!
- 3/5
Some idiot 90yo was trying to fight in the parking lot
- 5/5
All good
- 3/5
Danish sweets were expired, I enjoyed the coffee and orange juice, nothing else available to enjoy/eat.
- 5/5

- 5/5
All good
- 3/5
We loved the location. However, the cleanliness of the room wasn’t great. Bathroom needed some repairs/remodel.
- 3/5
The hotel location is good but the hotel maintenance and and overall condition of the hotel is just okay
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Enjoyed the stay will be going back
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 5/5
The room was comfortable, staff were helpful and friendly. I felt welcome. I loved being close the the downtown area in Black Mountain, and was happy I could just walk there or to the Ingles across the street for groceries.
- 1/5
Walked in the room and ot smelled like a wet dog. Very bad and strong odor to where it made us nauseous. We immediatelycalled the front desk whoch was an older lady with whote hair. I think her name was Barbara, she was so rude. Said she would move us to the room next door, we saw a light on and looked through the window and the mini fridge was sitting on the floor out of the cabinet. There was blood on sheets, black spots on sheets. So we took the sheets off laid on comforter. We woke up to bugs on pillows and on my drinking cup, and a dead bug in bed which was not there or we did not see it wen we woke up. It was bed bugs! The establishment was so rude and said the cleaning crew was excellentand basicallyi was lying even though i had pictures. DO NOT STAY THERE
- 2/5
When I arrived at the property I found out that it had suffered damage from Helene . In fact the sheetrock over the front desk had been replaced because of damage from the storm. When I walked into the room on the lower level room number 116 I was hit with a very pungent musky odor almost as though there was dampness in the room.. It almost knocked me over. I asked the front desk for help and they gladly gave me the room next door which had a whirlpool tub , but when I went in there the smell was also there not a strong but as bad as you'd expect enough for me to say no thank you. In addition in that room the floors were oily around the bathroom and slippery which kind of caught me off guard. I feel like this place hasn't fully recovered from the hurricane and they need to do a complete of everything that's not washable like the carpets for example. It didn't feel like a four or three star hotel and I was glad to get out.
- 3/5
Cobwebs along walls and corners.
- 4/5
Convince and clean.
- 3/5
I've stayed at this motel many times, but this stay was disappointing for anumber of reasons. .
- 1/5
The room smelt like a chain smoker had been shut up in there for days, the kick panel was barley hanging on so it scratched my daughters leg, the telephone didn’t work, and when I went to check in I had to go find the lady at the front desk. She was in the back talking .
- 4.5/5
Refrigerator was not running correctly. Staff had d to unlug
- 1/5
I arrived Wednesday and checked out Sunday morning, but do not have extractor in bathroom, room it’s not really clean, Friday night people a outside my room, drinking, smoking, screaming, till 4:00 am alike 12 people in one room Saturday night same thing. Plus ………..
- 4/5
Overall, the property was ok. The room was clean. The tile in the bathroom area was slippery and the bathroom door caught on the toilet when trying to close it but that wasn't too much of a problem. The toiletries and towels were well stocked. The lobby was clean and the staff was attentive. It was fine for a night.
- 5/5
Great price and amenities convenient for area…
- 2.5/5
Bath room was small and the towels were thin and small.
- 1/5
I don’t see anywhere to add pictures, but I have pictures of a couple disinfectant wipes that we used on the floor, the light switches, the air conditioner, and other spots that came up completely black! Our toilet also had black stuff around the rim. Our fridge was unusable because it was disgusting. It didn’t have power and there was a ton of mold in the freezer section. We were in NC to help with disaster relief, and that’s the only reason we didn’t just pack up and walk out shortly after arriving. I would never ever stay here again.
- 1/5
Immediately upon checking in and entering the room, found bugs jumping around in the bathroom. Took videos and pictures, returned to the front desk with them . There was no offer of any other room or any kind of remedy so hotel immediately canceled the reservation.
- 1/5
Hotel had bed bugs!
- 3/5
Location was great. Entire property is very dated and not attractive.
- 4/5
Nothing
- 4/5
The room was clean and as expected. The bathroom was clean, but small and somewhat dated. It did not appear there was a working vent fan in the bathroom. There was a fan, but it appeared it had been a long time since it last worked.
- 5/5
Over look of the area. Great view of Black Mountains
- 5/5
Overall just a friendly place to stay they help my fiance set up our room after he proposed to me they are very helpful and friendly 100% this is the place that I Stay every time I go out to Black Mountain for the weekend
- 5/5
It was good i had a coach bus and had to park next door on another lot, bteakfast was ok but mo cream cheese for bagels at check out they couldn't print a receipt which i ask to email to me insteasd. But i don't see that and i need it for business.
- 2/5
Needed better housekeeping practices. Large stain on one of the bed spreads. Toilet seat loose and moved when you sat on it. Black mold inside toilet under rim.
- 4/5
No hot food for breakfast as shown in pictures. No jacuzzi as listed on site. Pool was out of service. The bathroom door needed painting and there was a huge cobweb at the top of the curtain.
- 4/5
Caution: a protruding piece of metal near the bottom of the NW staircase jabbed me in the buttocks as I stepped down from the side of my van. The injury is minor, while it tore my jeans and broke the skin causing minimal bleeding, I didn’t feel the need to report it or attempt to cause any problems, but it should be addressed to avoid future issues. There are a lot of sue happy people out there and I want Quality Inn to be there the next time I go home to visit.
- 5/5
It was a very nice stay very clean and quite easy parking and very friendly
- 5/5
Did not get towels only once did not clean my room and the door when you opened it, you had to reopen it or it would’ve kept beeping the whole time
- 4.5/5
The carpet is absolutely disgusting.
- 2/5
The shower didn’t work. Had to change rooms. Next room had no towels. The property is old and rundown. Won’t stay there again.
- 4/5
Lovely staff, clean neat and tidy rooms, excellent continental included breakfast, and tight across the road from petrol stations, grocery stores and takeaway
- 4/5
We had a room that faced the street. It was rather noisy. There were NO towel racks in the room. That was very inconvenient and an amazing oversight.
- 3/5
Pretty good. A bit of a funky smell in the room. Air con quite loud. Serviceable for a night at the price-point. Breakfast was included and decent. Good location.
- 3/5
The shower walls were dirty/moldy.
- 3/5
Facility was ok
- 1/5
Rooms smell like cigarettes
- 4/5
That area has been through a lot during and after the hurricane and it is amazing how quickly they are bouncing back. The repairs that are ongoing are the same as anywhere else around the area. The people are kind and resilient.
- 1/5
The staff was very nice, the room smelled bad, dead cockroaches in the tub and bathroom and had to leave right away.
- 2/5
Pathetic front desk staff when we checked in as well as the next two evenings. The woman would not speak unless spoken to and was ambivalent at best. It’s like we ruined her evening asking for toilet paper. The breakfast was virtually non-existent. Apples coffee and some cellophane wrapped nasty stuff that no one would eat. No hot food…eggs waffles breakfast meats…nothing. Our son lives in black mountain and we were there to donate our travel trailer to a needy family that lost everything. We get the situation but that is no excuse for poor service and rudeness. We will stay at Hampton Inn next visit.
- 1/5
The hotel did not honor reservation. I you owe me a refund for the entire amount.
- 1/5
we were hit with hurricane Helene . The office staff did not make themselves available to help the people stranded there and locked the office door. We were charged for all 4 nights even though there was no food , water or electricity.
- 1/5
I was very disappointed in that they would not even talk to us about not being able to go . Because of the hurricane.
- 1/5
Bed covers smelled like wet dog. Sprayed air freshener but didn’t work. Bed cover had not been washed. Absolutely disgusting having to sleep in a dirty bed. Disgusting.
- 5/5
The breakfast provided was excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Great location that allowed easy access to our activities for the week.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Will stay again .
- 2/5
Fire alarm went off. There was no fire. Clerk didn't know how to turn off alarm. It ranged for at least 30 minutes.
- 3/5
Motel was adequate; breakfast included. Bathroom grout and tile would benefit from deep cleaning. Guest families enjoyed the pool.
- 5/5
Great view of the mountains, quiet, serene, walking distance to town and grocery if needed:)
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised for the price. Will definitely stay again.
- 3/5
While my room and the check in/breakfast area always clean, it smelled of mold and mildew.
- 3/5
Was rude when I checked in and the manage to
- 1/5
Unsafe. People all around our door and in the parking lot watching us. Pool broken.
- 3/5
I guess its all relative to what you spend but its annoying that the lights inside next to the night stand didnt work, it stunk of incense, the bathroom fixtures were rusty, ceiling in the bathroom was tore. I understnad the rooms are cheap but alittle extra care goes a long way.
- 2/5
The front desk receptionist was kind, courteous and professional. The bed spread was dirty and so was the pool. We left and got a different hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice stay.
- 5/5
Overall was great
- 4/5
Beautiful view
- 2/5
It didnt smell fresh, very stale. The bathroom floor was not clean around the toilet. Needed to be updated. For the price it was unacceptable.
- 5/5
Che k was a pleasure. Didn’t catch her name but she was delightful
- 5/5
As a senior woman it is important to me to feel safe at a hotel. I did feel safe here. The room was on the ground floor, good for me since I have bad legs. The bed was comfortable. I probably would have slept better if I had remembered to turn on the AC before turning out the lights! (Senior moment) I didn't stay for breakfast so I cannot comment on that. The bathroom was clean and the towels soft and absorbent.
- 5/5
Our visit was just one night. The lady checking us in was very professional and extremely friendly. The room was clean. The bed was so comfortable. The continental was good. Had a variety of items. The bathroom lights were old, some updating could be done. But all in all it was a good stay. I'd definitely come back.
- 5/5
The vending machines didnt work, everything else was fine.
- 4/5
Friendly and issue free check in. Clean room but back of bathroom door could be wiped down. Weird that toiletries included lotion but not shower gel. Only issue is there is a second floor to this hotel and there is no elevator.
- 5/5
Would stay here again. Staff is really friendly.
- 5/5
This is a "dated" property, it's been around for a few years. The room appeared to have been a "smoking" room in a past life. The odor of cigarettes was in the air. Hotel rooms in this area are sparse. It was good for one night.
- 5/5
Even though the hotel is older, it has been renovated and the updates very nice.
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable. Right off highway. Close to food options
- 5/5
Pool wasn't open.
- 4/5
Unit was clean but old. Needs some new furniture. Good location.
- 3/5
Quiet, tranquil and in a beautiful area. The room was outdated and kind of gross.
- 4/5
Bed was remarkably comfortable! The room had a very strong scent that lingered throughout our 3 night stay. 😷 The phone didn’t work. Great value tho!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, close to town and shopping.
- 5/5
The property was well kept. Didn’t have a smoke detector in the room, just bare wires.
- 5/5
Great Hotel!
- 1/5
Awful. Ice machine out of order all 4 nights. Toilet seat too small for bowl so my legs touched the cold porcelain..gross. Shower curtain wouldn't stay in place due to falling rod. Pool was brown and filled with debris. Bed was hard. Blanket had large hole. Housekeeping came to clean 2 hours before checkout at 9am. When I complained to owner/management he offered no apologies nor compensation.
- 4/5
no issues stay, quiet, pleasant
- 4/5
Good stay for the $$$
- 5/5
Looked like it had been updated. Just a little peeling paint in bathroom ceiling
- 5/5
Location of hotel was perfect for my weekend function.
- 2/5
Easy to find, unfortunately noise was an issue
- 2/5
We checked in in the evening, given room next to office. It had an unpleasant odor; toilet had a wad of paper in it; carpet didn’t appear to be vacuumed as there was a couple of little pieces of debris on it; sink had extremely slow drain (reported at checkout). If we hadn’t had a long day, would have requested a room change
- 5/5
The room was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable.
- 4/5
Handy to restaurants. Nice sized room. Jacuzzi tub.
- 5/5
Nope all was good!
- 3/5
Stayed two nights. No room services (towels, cleaning) between the days.
- 3/5
We were unable to connect to wifi. Staff were unable to help and we had to wait in our room for a call from tech support. This wasted our time and when they finally called they were unable to resolve the problem. By then most stores were closed. We asked to speak to a manager and were told that would take 3 days.(Monday). We have been staying at various hotels for 2 weeks on our vacation and this was the first time the advertiaed free wifi was not working. Very disappointing.
- 3/5
It’s a nice area easy to get to and close to restaurants. The hotel is older so if everything new is important to you I would pass. It was clean but didn’t give 4 stars because of things like the fitted sheets didn’t fit the bed and could see the mattress, the bottom sheet had piling so bad it bothered me I wore socks to bed. Someone had sprayed something on the wall and picture next to bed and it hadn’t been cleaned off. ( I am guessing a coke) It didn’t feel dirty just needed more attention to detail.
- 3/5
I stay at this property at least one time a year am I only Complaint is there’s a lot of maintenance issues that need to be taken care of. One of the issues with paint was peeling from the ceiling. Another issue was the tub water did not drain I get and the Wi-Fi didn’t work properly. we weren’t able to use the Wi-Fi the whole time because of an issue
- 4/5
Very clean hotel. Ms Barb at the front desk was courteous, professional, and genuinely friendly. Comfortable. Wifi was wonky. Be aware there are no elevators and the bathroom was really small. All in all, would definitely recommend.
- 3/5
Free Breakfast but 8:00Am No milk and Bagel but no real butter or no cream cheese, ,asked for Manager but no one to listen
- 4/5
We stayed here for a night as part of a road trip, plenty of food options close by and a supermarket directly across the road. I chose it thinking I'd get a nice view of the mountains but arrived a little too late and ended up with a room at the back which was quite dark. Never mind! Room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast wasn't great, just ok, waffles were the only decent fresh item and I don't eat them, kids were happy though! Around 15mins to Asheville which is a cute place with tons of restaurants.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly. The room was spotless! No signs of bugs or anything, trust me i check the mattress and everything every time we stay at a Hotel lol. Water pressure and hot water were great! Definitely will stay there again!
- 5/5
Clean room and comfortable beds. Thumbs up!
- 4/5
It’s cool.
- 5/5
This property was comfortable, convenient and I appreciated the ease of having breakfast on site. Nothing fancy but the coffee was good. My only complaint was that the wifi was slow, and streaming movies or extensive internet searching was not feasible. The staff member that greeted me, a lovely older woman, was kind and welcoming. Asheville was near by, and there were a lot of eating options in the quaint and safe surrounds of Black Mountain. I would happily stay again.
- 4/5
Safe clean and convenient
- 3.5/5
The room had patches and dust bunnies in the corners of the room, toilet paper was open, there was still cleaner chemicals pooling in the tub. The mini fridge was broken the ac/heater needed dusting badly. Breakfast was lacking any sources of protein
- 3/5
Really dirty, mildew all around shower, air ducts clogged with dust. Some gum ground into carpet. I'm happy with basic accommodations but this place needs a thorough cleaning.
- 5/5
Very clean!
- 4.5/5
GPS took us miles away from it before circling us back on Rt. 9-very strange, particularly after a long drive after dark.
- 0.5/5
We were in 3 rooms. The 1st smelled. The 2nd was OK, but about 9pm we tried the AC & were told this "must be" one of the bad-AC-rooms. The 3rd room stale-cigarette-smell was so bad that 24 hrs later our PJs smelled too bad to wear.
- 4/5
I had two separate reservations, one with two rooms with king size bed and a different reservation, made on a different day, for two queen size beds. I had canceled the reservation for the two queen beds.Instead, they cancelled one of the king rooms.
- 5/5
the location and the staff.
- 3.5/5
Only complaint was there were no towel racks.
- 1/5
Smoke smell in 116. Dirty, dead bugs, sticky remote. Smelly ac moldy shower and ac. Didn¿t have the correct room upon arrival.
