This motel did the trick. It was budget friendly, clean and the staff were courteous.

It was a nice place for the price with a very helpful and friendly staff, amd a pretty good breakfast the next morning. Also, SUPER soft bed, which is great for some, but not others (I loved it, back problems and all). Would definitely recommend for those on a budget who don't need a jet tub or conference room (they may have the latter, I didn't check).

Rooms are very clean and beds are super comfortable. The pool was nice and warm on the chilly day we were there. Staff was so helpful and nice. We enjoyed the breakfast, kids liked the bagels and cream cheese

I booked through booking.com. I needed an accessible room AND I had a dog. They made the reservation saying they could accomadate me. But the property could NOT accomadate me so we ended up not getting an accessible room! Frustrating see above!

Clean and welcoming

Clean room. Comfortable bed. Only outlets for computer and electronic devices were above the bathroom counter. Not even an outlet at the desk. Pillow cases were nubby. Towels were tiny and like sandpaper. Refrigerator gurgles all night long making it difficult to sleep.

If you like to relax and watch TV good luck. The reception was good but the display was terrible, and only about two movie channels. I couldn't get the subtitles turned off to save my life no matter how many menu options I tried. I finally gave up and worked on my laptop.

A hidden gem in a beautiful area. Had a great stay!

We enjoyed this place so well we stayed two nights! Everything was great, from the location of our room to the breakfast provided and the friendliness of the staff. Our room was extremely clean and well cared for.

If you book through Expedia, be prepared: if there are multiple rooms under multiple names, staff will not know how to look for it. They had to call Expedia and the woman at the front desk could not wrap her mind around what was being told to her. Also, the room has not been vacuumed in weeks if not months- there were ashes under the chair, dust under the bureau, a pen up against the floorboard that was there even after I went to the front desk and requested that it be vacuumed better during housekeeping. There was no housekeeping aside from the request requested vacuuming (and that was only done on one day and I stayed there for three)and the replacement of towels-the bed was not made, sheets were not cleaned, surfaces were not dusted and windows were not cleaned. There was a bunch of dust under the grill on the heater as well. The only good thing I can say is that the room did not smell and the sheets appeared to be clean and smelled like bleach.

The parking area was large and well lit.

The breakfast was great, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, pancakes, waffles, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, granola, bagels, muffins, toast. Very good and lots of it. Parking was good well-lit and room was quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was trying to find it, we do not have GPS or a smart phone, called motel and asked someone who was parked along the way and finally found it. Would be helpful to have exit numbers posted on their site. Also plug ins are not near desk for your computer there was a table and a plug near it. Would stay again, Elmers down the street.

I did not get the double room as reserved. It turns out you're supposed to call the hotel for a let friendly room, but that is not mentioned during the booking. We ended up sharing a queen bed and paying for two beds so the dog could be there.

Sugar loaf motel in Bend. Very convenient place to stay. behind the gas station, convenience atore on the right side. Shopping areas and restaurants are just a few minutes on foot or drive. Solo traveling for a charity run and visit friends. Clean, near RDM and Bend, and perfect for what I needed (1-2 nights to rest/chill, shower, free breakfast, etc.). Staff was extremely kind and helpful!!

Room was clean and updated. However the WiFi signal didn’t work in our room. TV channels were very few and not what was shown on the in room card. Staff were friendly. Fine for a budget stay without WiFi and full TV channels, but do know what you are getting for the bargain price.

The staff at Sugarloaf is amazing. Greeted with a smile from the time you check in till you check out, they go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Our sleep was quiet and uninterrupted even with the rooms filled with high school wrestlers. The continental breakfast is customary motel food but the atmosphere is so comfortable and homie. Gathering around the breakfast table with the teams of wrestlers got the day started with a boost of excitement and camaraderie! Thank you Sugarloaf!!!!

First, I have to say that I gave this motel 2 stars instead of 1 because the staff really tried to find me something that would work and I appreciated their helpfulness; but I'm just not sure why the other reviews gave such a high rating. The first room I was given had an odor that I couldn't tolerate (asthma), so I was switched to another but the door wouldn't open. They tried a couple more before finding one that had a functioning door/lock. But in the end, I was still having trouble breathing in the room and discovered that here, as well as another motel I booked here in Bend on booking recently (Dunes), they use an unhealthy chemical-based deodorizing spray. Had to check out before even staying the night. I much appreciate the front desk staff attempting to help.

Whenever we have to stay overnight in Bend, we always stay here with our dogs. There's a real nice pet area for them to sniff around in. Overall, its just a nice and friendly place to stay.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable with various firmness pillows. The TV was a little fuzzy but was a short drive to downtown and was priced well. Breakfast was good to saisage gravy and buscuiy and other options. Aside from the TV syay was flawless.

The night staff was not friendly they gave wrong information then they accused of lying it really hurt no respect. The day staff was so friendly and very welcoming. Also We could hear the people next door the we loud most of the night. I would never stay here or recommend it to anyone

The room was clean and comfortable. I had interaction with three different staff members, and they were all courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The only suggestion I have is for a towel rack/ring to be installed near the sink.

The weirdest hotel experience ever. From the person checking me in who welcomed me with “can I help you with something” in that odd bothered voice like im coming in to the lobby at 11 pm begging for money or something to a weird character hanging out with a flashlight in the corner of the parking lot for a while to the weird policy of actually physically charging my credit card a $10 deposit whereas others simply placing a hold until checkout. I don’t know. The room was old and the furniture was very dated and the breakfast really wasn’t all that great. The only thing I really appreciated was seeing the cleaning crew actually strip all the bedding after all guests. That made me more at ease knowing at least I slept on clean linens.

Everything worked well

The breakfast at the time was the off-season offering: Egg patties, biscuits and gravy, along with two kinds of sausage were in warming trays. Bagged waffles and pancakes were available to be put in the toaster. There was yogurt, cereals and all the usual stuff. It got it done just fine. There is fast food around the hotel and a Winco grocery within walking distance. We were in a larger room and it was very clean and spacious. It seemed well kept for its age. We would stay here again, mostly because the people seemed to care about us.

The room was very cleaned and offered both a microwave and refrigerator. I was happy to have both heat and air conditioning since the outdoor weather fluctuated between 31 degrees low and 77 degrees high on one day!

Property exterior was in great shape and looked like the owners invested in painting, new roofing and parking lot resurfacing. Rooms were comfortable and recently remodeled with quality fixtures. The only area for improvement is front desk staff focusing on customer service with a smile

The room was basic but had everything we needed. No real problems, just an average accommodation.

Jason at the front desk was fabulous! Our room had hair in the tub, debris on the floor, and an open package of coffee to a coffee maker missing the basket. Otherwise the room was generously cut and the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing and the use of space was very inviting. For the price of the hotel we got about what we expected.

The staff I had contact with from my check in to when I checked out, were amazing and friendly. They never made you feel unwanted. The breakfast was a great way to start the day. It was hot and fresh and the coffee was great. My room was very clean and quiet. I had people on both sides and above me and it was more quiet than most hotels I have stayed before. Anyone wanting a place to stay in Bend should check out this hotel.

We didnt even check the room, the front desk couldn't find their list of guests, the lobby reeked of weed, the receptionist couldn't find paper to write things down, wasn't sure where the keys to the room were, and when she did find a key for us, was not certain without checking if anyone was even using the room.

This was a large, comfortable room for a very good price. Very clean. We have stayed twice, & it will be our choice in the future.

We wanted to stay an extend our stay but were told to book online and when we tried, it said no rooms available but the place looked pretty empty so I guess there was a glitch in the reservation system. Great place to stay and explore Bend and short drive to Smith Rock State Park.

The night person was engaging and an interesting character, but not very helpful. The TV remote did not work. She told us to come to the desk for batteries. That didn't fix it & she offered no other suggestion to fix it when asked.

I reserved a room with two beds but our room only had a single queen. I was told the motel was full but only a dozen cars in the lot. Puzzled by this.

Overall I would book this place if I needed to, but the bed was uncomfortable and the bath tub drain was clogged.

My only gripe is the mattress need an upgrade but other than that clean and friendly and affordable

With a 4pm check in there was a lot of people waiting to check in. They did great but 6 people deep at 4:15….. They need to do a pre check in type of thing to keep the line flowing. They gave me the wrong room at check in. Quickly and easily fixed. The walls in our room are disgustingly full of hand and feet marks. Opened the fridge and a whole onion in a bag was rotten in there!! Like black moldy rotten. So it had been in there a bit. They emptied garbage cans the night we got there. Those bags of garbage were laying all around the property the next morning. Breakfast was great and the hotel staff is great. They just need to step up the cleanliness a lot. The area is ok. We went for a walk and I wasn’t a huge fan of all the gas station workers lined up outside smoking and standing around talking about stuff that probably needs to be an at home conversation. That’s not the hotels issue. Just want to include that. We would stay there again but I may call ahead and make sure the room is cleaned up a bit better first.

Good hotel, great value! An easy 5 minute drive to the Old Mill, Hayden amphitheater, and river bend park. Dog friendly! Property is a tad dated but it checks a lot of boxes.

Our room looked nothing like the picture and I was told I was lucky to get a room because four of the cleaning crew quit all the same day. The sheets were so thin from wear and the sides of the sheets were all torn where they hugged onto the elastic around the mattress. It looked like a room from 1990. The bed was so hard but the lights & fridge worked.

It smelled so bad in the room we stayed 5 minutes and left to find a different hotel. They pump an air freshener to cover the old musty smell. The beds were not made just pulled the comforter over the pillows

We had never been to Bend, so shopped on Hotels.com and this hotel has a decent rating from guests. Overall the stay was ok and I would go back, now that I have been there. It is older but well cared for. It is clean.. really clean, but the beds have very old bedding and one lamp because of insufficient plugs -- the fridge is excellent and there is a microwave which a lot of hotels have stopped. There are no elevators in most of the hotel so if you need no stairs, get on the phone beforehand. The 4 pm check in is a total drag. There is a line out the door. The staff is doing everything they can, great mood, great attitude and they are under staffed. The breakfast was totally awful... all sweets and carbs -- but again, I am vegan, so maybe to picky for some -- for the price in the area it worked for us!

The motel attendant said that Expedia over booked this location by 20 guests. The attendant said, “Expedia was supposed to contact us that we didn’t have a room there”. No one contacted us. We arrived at the motel at 9:15 pm - we were told they had no room for us. (We prepaid for this room two months ago - we have not received a refund yet!!!!). The hotel attendant gratuitously said, “that he wasn’t going to charge us a cancellation fee.”😡 I called around for other places in the area, but they were all full. We drove to the next town and didn’t have any luck there. So, we slept in our car in a parking lot for a few hours and hope for the best. We are both in our 60’s and thought at this point in our life, we were passed sleeping in our car.

I wasn’t sure about the motel given the very reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised by the update room, nice pool & good breakfast. Definitely a good value!

The stay was for two and we were given one towel checking in we had a 40 minute wait to get to a representative.I personally would not stay here again

First room we were given had a broken door lock, we requested a new room and thankfully the manager was able to get us one even with them being booked out. It was very clean and nice rooms for a good price.

Bathroom wasn’t cleaned. I tried using the phone, but it the receiver looked like it hadn’t been cleaner in yrs. I was offered another room but that room was even worse.

There is not leash free zone for dogs, but they have a grass area. They will update on Expedia. Great customer service and really enjoyed the breakfast . Didn’t get to try the pool. Love that I was in the back building and didn’t hear the road noise. Happy my dog come and had a low fee.

Had a reservation , got there at 4:30 Finally got a room at 8pm , because rooms were not cleaned and ready , numerous people had to wait,, I'm 68 in poor health and I waited 3 and a half hours!!!!! With my kids and wife, I don't think I will use Expedia again or ever stay at that hotel again.. staff was friendly and the breakfast was good, ,But driving 4 hours to hotel then waiting 3.5 hours is wrong

But room was dirty, not enough towels in room for a whole family. And the floor was absolutely foul. We let our kids walk barefoot around and their feet were black in both times we’ve stayed not sure if we’ll be back.

This is not a fancy hotel but it was clean and comfortable. Only complaint about room were the linens. Thin towels and worn, nubby bed linens. Continental breakfast was good and adequate. I would stay here again. Budget friendly.

I stayed here because I had stayed 5 years ago and it was convenient. Quality of the rooms has deteriorated. Weird mismatched personal amenities (I bring my own so not a big deal) but no hand soap, only given one bath towel so had to use hand towel to step on getting out of the shower, also only given one washcloth. Temperature control was old with no temperature display and I had to keep getting out of bed to adjust it. People rolling their suitcases past the room in the morning woke me up (I should've worn earplugs).

Bed was hard and noisy. Bathroom ceiling appeared as if it had leaked in the past. Dirty floors and sink. Plug to sink was broken. Lights next to beds broken light bulbs were hanging out of the sockets they worked but possible fire hazard. One night stay was cheep I guess you get what you pay for. Would not stay again.
