Reviews
The hotel is praised for its convenient location, particularly for those visiting Emory University or the hospital. The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful. However, the property is frequently criticized for being outdated and in need of renovation. Cleanliness is a mixed bag, with some guests praising the cleanliness while others find it lacking.
- Convenient location, particularly for Emory University and hospital
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Outdated property in need of renovation

Room was comfortable and clean. Great location if visiting Emory.
- 4/5
Great location, just a little old school. Good hotel. Worth the price.
- 3/5
The lobby smells bad and breakfast is not good. Outside area such as stairs are not well maintained.
- 4/5
An elevator should be installed for better egress to 2nd and 3rd floors. Breakfast was only danish and coffee or tea.
- 4.5/5
Close to hospital

Very terrible experience I would give it a zero star rating. I had to check out of the hotel immediately after I checked in given how unclean the hotel was it was smelling of mold. The room wasn’t close proximity to the parking lot and it felt very unsafe. The property did not give me a refund, although I booked it for nine days. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room was not similar to what it appeared in the website.

Would definitely stay here again when visiting Emory!

The breakfast features packaged pastries, boiled eggs, yogurt, and coffee. They are provided as a to-go format, but there are a few tables nearby.
- 3/5
Breakfast was first come, first served and they always ran out of stuff halfway through the stated times. Did not try the Internet
- 5/5
Super cute! It gave me vibes of being back in Ireland or Scotland. The staff were very friendly. The grab and go breakfast was perfect and the evening coffee when we arrived really hit the spot!
- 5/5
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future.
- 5/5
University Inn is a very convenient and clean place to stay . I have stayed whenever I visit Emory university.
- 4/5
The room was clean. This hotel needs to provide a USB port in the room.
- 4/5
The front desk staff was so friendly and welcoming. She was so polite
- 5/5
Really pleasant stay overall! The staff was nice, the room was clean and spacious, and the area was beautiful and quiet at night. We'd stay here again if we're ever in the area.
- 5/5
great late night service
- 3/5
Everything was nice& clean, staff was nice and friendly. only compliant was the uncomfortable beds. A little outdated, small gap under half of the entrance door. Washer& dryer was a big help! Enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Staff very polite
- 5/5
Big room!
- 4/5
No time to eat breakfast. However the Staff was very helpful and gave us plastic plates, folks salt & pepper and we appreciated the kindness given when we needed it the evening before breakfast was served.
- 4/5
This trip our room had an odor. We bought a plug in air freshener. The plug ins were all loose, had trouble keeping the blow dryer. Charging blocks etc. plugged in. The staff is not exactly inviting. We won't stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room. Extremely friendly staff. Everything what you need for the stay.
- 4/5
Breakfast was fair, room smell musty, It was convenient to the hospital, need to let people know you have to pay extra for parking at the Inn
- 5/5
Had a heart procedure at Emory. Staff was very helpful with our needs and requests. Room was much bigger than we expected. It was clean and no musty smells at all. Beds were comfortable a the location was excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the front doors of the hospital if one chose to walk. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
this is a older, motel style property. i’m sure it will someday get a sleek renovation. Meanwhile it has WONDERFUL staff and a great location right by Emory hospital and main clinic. And easy shuttle access to other Emory facilities.
- 3/5
The "grab and go" breakfast was a bit lacking. Coffee was good. Wi-Fi was good. Room was clean, but don't expect more than a nice motel.
- 4/5
Very convenient location across the street from Emory University.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly but the property seems to be in declining condition. Shortly after check-in, and on two other occasions, I reported a malfunctioning smoke detector. Although the desk clerks reported it to maintenance, it was never fixed during my stay. As a result, I got almost no sleep because of the constant beeping.
- 1/5
The pictures are deceiving. There is no elevator. I asked to be on the 2nd floor and they acknowledged in email that I would be. When I checked in, they said they didn’t know and put me and my elderly mother on 3rd floor. The rooms are very old not well kept. The door to my room had a crack at the bottom where you could see light from outside. After seeing a bug crawl across my mom’s bed, we decided to leave that same night.
- 3/5
Pitiful grab and go breakfast. Only had 2 towels despite having 4 people, and the desk said they were completely out of towels! Priced like a solid hotel but experience like a cheap motel.
- 4/5
Room was clean - weekday staff very friendly
- 5/5
Immediate area of our doctor appointment. A bit dated, but we'll maintained.

The picture does not support the "motel" status with outside doors. The breakfast is minimal. The property is a bit dated. It is very close (across the street basically) from Emory University and within a mile of restaurants.
- 4.5/5
You had to go downstairs to get toilet paper & towels
- 4.5/5
We were expecting continental breakfast
- 5/5
Large rooms and friendly staff No option to avoid steps, which was difficult for part of our group
- 5/5
I liked how close it was to the hospital , and how they let me check in earlier then check in time I really appreciated that accommodation Wasn’t anything could really complain about except there was black hair all over my shower and the water wasn’t very hot in the shower

The location. Very close to Emory Hospital. The first lady was rude to us. The beds made noise everytime you move. They charge you $7.50 a night to park plus tax if you don't book with them. I was furious. That i have to pay to park because I booked through another site. The sink was stopped up. I reported it the next day No elevators. We had to walk 3 flights of stairs. The front desk person have to give you ice. I have stayed at alot of hotels all over the country and never had to pay for parking.

The front desk lady was very nice! I had to drive 4 hours to get there and I arrived an hour early, she let me in the room as soon as it was ready. I felt pretty safe seeing as it was right next to the hospital, which i had an appointment at the next morning. The price was very reasonable as well. I would stay here again.

Recently painted, the room was nice and bedding very comfortable. Breakfast was free, but truly grab and go - individually wrapped muffins and granola bars, hard-boiled eggs, carton milk & juice.

I had the corner room which was huge and window with lovely trees as my view. It was clean. The staff was pleasant and the lobby provided hot tea/coffee all day.

Staff was very nice. Close to Emory hospital. Rooms could use an overhaul. The mattresses were worn and some of the other furniture dated. Though the rooms were clean they really didn’t feel clean. The place just needs a freshen up.
- 5/5
All was good
- 2/5
Very close and convienent to Emory University. Room and a scent of dampness, like wet carpet not sure if from humidity or something else. Work up in the morning with ants all over the bathroom sink and a few were on the table near the beds. We had no food in the room as we checked in at 5pm and left at 815am the following morning. I did show pictures at check out of the ants in the room and other than I’m sorry we will get that taken care of. No offer of anything else discount on room (was prepaid so I get that) but then was charged $8 for parking. I would have thought after showing the picture of the ants maybe at least waive the parking fee.
- 4/5
For business at Emory it is an excellent location right across campus. Room was large, although a bit "dark" . Clean and quiet . I would have wished for a more modern bathroom, it was clean but felt a bit dated.

Please replace the mattress. I could feel every spring and it made for a restless sleep. I know that your hotel is frequently occupied by Emory University students and you’re trying to keep costs down, but please replace the worn out furniture while you’re at it.

The rooms are in a dire need of an upgrade. The quality of rooms are not worth the price. Polite staff. I didn't even want to try the grab and go breakfast, after I saw staining and such in the rooms. On a side note- they don't offer traditional housekeeping services either. The only plus is the location.

My dog got fleas from our room! I understand it is a dog friendly property, but proper cleaning should be done throughout to prevent this. Our toilet and sink also had issues. Otherwise, the area was very safe and quiet and the staff was very friendly.

I am on oxygen & the local provider delivered a concentrator for me to use while sleeping. It is on wheels, but very heavy. My husband is disabled & uses a walker or scooter. The lady who checked us in brought it to our room from the office. I really appreciated that. I probably could have managed, it would have been difficult. We had to check out early (before the front desk opened) to be at Emory so I called them to let them know & that our card key would be on the dresser. I let them know the provider would be by to get the concentrator but we could not bring it to the office (the property inclined from our room to the office). The woman started getting very snippy to me, interrupting me when I was trying to explain, angrily telling me she was pregnant and she was not going to do it either. I nicely asked if housekeeping could do it when they got there and she said "no, put it outside the door". Outside the door was actually outside and in plain view of the parking lot & street. I said I wasn't comfortable leaving it out there. She just kept angrily repeating "put it outside the room." Will never stay there again. Not worth the $189. Wouldn't stay if it were free.

The inn is close to Emory University, so lots of places to eat nearby. There’s noise from the street, but it quiets down by late evening. My room was adequate but the bathroom had no towel racks. The breakfast was mostly sweet, packaged items. I wished there were apples, bananas or hard boiled eggs. But the bed was fine and the bathroom was clean.

Slept so good because it was EXCEPTIONALLY clean! WELL MAINTAINED! All the space in room 212 was a treat compared to most hotels these days. No stuffiness or bad smells. Just clean and comfortable. We will be back to Emory for appointments and will always always always book a room at The University Inn. I’m dreading a day there may not be a room available. We got the last one this time! A side note is that we got there after midnight and the staff were easy to reach and got us checked in efficiently and kindly. The to go breakfast was clean and set up at 7am. They had hearty boiled eggs in prepackaged to go as well as yogurt, make your own quick oatmeal, prepackaged muffin/pastries, fruit cups, milk, granola bars, juice, & maybe another thing or two I’m forgetting. Good enough for us. Very pleased with this place.

Saw multiple roaches in the room. Holes in ceiling closet. Everything in the room felt old. Air conditioner was dirty and unclean. The exterior and interior need some massive upgrades because this looked like a rundown motel. Also the breakfast was not good at all. It's some grab and go. The staff were ok but when asking questions they changed their attitude. The pool didn't have any chairs. Wasps were in multiple parts of the walkways. I had to check out early and I could say more but I wanna keep this review somewhat short. Whoever reads this, do yourself a favor and pay a little extra for a better hotel.

Negative: Hotel offered breakfast, but it was less than a continental style type. Bathroom has not additional towel hangers besides a small one inside the shower so we were setting our wet towels on chairs or leaving them inside of a small closet which make them smell. my family -4people- stayed for 3 nights and no cleaning service (trash not taking out, beds unmade, new clean towels or replenish of toilet paper) was provided. If you didn't book the hotel directly with them instead of with an external website, there is parking charge at the end of your stay.

The location is a 10 to 15-minute walk to Emory University. Just across the street, you'll find Emory Hospital. It's an excellent location.

The best adjective to use for the hotel is "spare". The one person I saw working at the desk was quite friendly and informative. The hotel is housekeeping-on-demand. I was only staying two nights, so I didn't ask for it. It was a bit unnerving to come back to a hotel at night with the bed unmade, but that's what I asked for. The breakfast is all out of boxes, good quality, but except for the coffee/tea, cold. In what must be a covid-artifact, there is no place to eat in the lobby: we're invited to eat in our room or outside. Overall, fine. I didn't spend much time there and have no complaints.

Clean room, but beds/carpet/furniture have not been updated in a very long time. The staff was fine. Breakfast is cold cereal, granola bars, canned fruit cups.

The property was extremely clean. The staff was corteous. I noticed there was no hair-dried at 10 pm, called the front desk and they ran one to my room a few minutes later. The room is spacious. I would not count on breakfast unless you enjoy eating processed and pre-packed pastries.

I always stay at the University Inn, because my granddaughter is attending Emory University, she is a sophomore. Tis was the most disappointing time of all and we have stayed there at 5 or 6 times. First of all I asked for a handicap room and was given 2212 at the bottom of flight of six steps to go down. there was no bars in the shower to hang on to, to get in the shower. I do not know why I was not given 2218 at the end of the hall, which had no stairs to get to it and you could just walk right into it. Then when we were settle in the room the lamp between the beds would go on and off. So I followed the cord and found that the plug in box was mount on the wall and the box spring was setting sitting right under it and that mattress was resting on top of it. So every time i sat on the bed iI was disconnecting the cord. So we would move the mattress and replug it in so we had a light in the room. Someday the mattress may catch on fire. Then when I got m bill on my Credit card I was charged the full 4 days stay plus a $7.50 a parking charge for each day. I made my reservation November 1, 2024 when there was no parking fee but they changed their policy on 11/18/24. I was never informed about this until I got my bill on my credit card. Called them and their was too bad basically. Not the type of service I was use to from them.

Great hotel! Good value. Super-easy parking. Located directly across from the Emory School of Law and the Emory University campus. Only drawback is limited eating options. The grab & go breakfast at the hotel is pretty spare. Local neighborhood is all Panera Bread, Jimmy John's, etc. So you will need a car to reach decent food.

The so called breakfast was just granola bars, fruit, and pastry. More of a snack. There are no elevators, so had to walk up 3 flights of stairs.

TV don’t work at check in. Roof leaked on the second night. Then the key stopped working after asking and getting a late checkout.

The hotel was clean and convenient. The overall state of the room was a little run down. But it was spacious and comfortable.

Decent stay. Good for the price.

It was very clean and the staff was very friendly!

The room and bathroom was clean and fr she smelling. Tv service was hopeless but internet service was great. Very friendly staff and in close Rand to the Emory Hospital which is where I had to go really early in the morning. I will definitely stay again.

Hotel was ok, place to sleep and shower. Breakfast is all packaged and processed foods to go.

That our room was quite noisy. There was some strange banging going on during the night, plus you can hear everyone up And down the stairs.

No thanks

The property was a two minutes walk from the hospital where my special friend was an inpatient. I particularly liked how quiet the surrounding area and the community is. My very large, spacious room was a plus!
- 4/5
The Inn was comfortable and the location was right near the hospital. There are no frills but the staff is friendly and helpful. The cost for parking was less than the 12-14 dollars per day that the hospital charges.
- 4/5
Place is a bit dated but very comfortable and clean. The staff in the office are beyond kind and helpful. The coffee is always hot and the area is very nice. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Everything was great except for the water pressure in shower. Room was big and comfy

A bit overpriced, but what you are paying for is proximity to Emory Hospital and University. Breakfast was minimalist, with no sitting room so you grabbed stuff and went back to your room, but coffee was pretty good. No problems with wifi. Bed was surprisingly comfortable and noted that fitted sheets were doubled. Microwave and fridge were clean, working. Suggest you bring an extension strip as duplex outlets were limited, and one did not work at all. Does look like it has a well maintained pool and area.

The check-in folks are super friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The "grab and go" breakfast could be a lot better. There are pre-packaged sugary muffins/pastries (like hostess brand), cereal, milk, OJ, bars. The coffee isn't good. No cream, only milk. Since they advertise "breakfast", it should be a bit better. The rooms are old, the lamp was hard to turn on, dented. Only one bar of soap soap for shower and sink combined. No shampoo. Had to ask for another roll of TP. It's inexpensive, feels safe, but very basic.

Although the location is great, and due to the high price you might think it’s nice-but this is actually a Motel— dingy lighting, crummy linens, out of date and just overall is sketchy feeling. Not staying here again unless they do a full renovation.
- 2/5
The staff was very nice, but the motel was rundown and dated. Didn’t want to spend anymore time in the room than we absolutely had to. Location was very convenient to Emory, but was definitely overpriced based on the condition.
- 3/5
The location is perfect for visiting our daughter. This is our second time staying here , and both times the room feels very damp. Even with ac on high. It always feels wet. Both of our rooms were on the first floor. I’m not sure if this has something to do with it.

Friendly staff. Older property in beautiful area. Very safe. Convenient to eating options and located in an older area of Atlanta.

You are required to let the staff know that you want clean towels or clean the room. Not impressed. The best thing was a breakfast to go.

The hotel was perfect for our needs. We were able to keep the car there instead of having to move to the parking garage. The location was close to food and shopping. The front desk staff did an awesome job upon checking us in, even with the computer hiccup they had going on. They were very professional and quickly got us in our room.

Tiffany at the front desk check in was extremely personable. I also found the complimentary breakfast was convenient.

This is an older hotel but it was clean and the staff was helpful. Very close to Emory hospital which was important to us. Emory Village is about 1 mile away and had a number of restaurants.

Overall a good place… it is an inn so no room service etc… cleaning also once in three days… the staff was very friendly and helped in whatever way they could… some more variety in BF would have been good….

We stayed for 5 nights and the only issue is that they didn’t clean up the room until we left, maybe because we didn’t request. Otherwise the service is good, the breakfast is too simple and the same each day.
