Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the friendly staff and convenient location, but expressing dissatisfaction with the ongoing construction, water issues, and overpriced services. Some guests also reported issues with cleanliness and room amenities.

Great location, very clean. Will he back!

Overall, the hotel was fine, but my check in experience was abysmal. Hotels.com didn't send the property the correct dates and the back and forth after a long day of travel took over an hour with multiple phone calls and hold times.
- 5/5
It was a very nice stay and I enjoyed some of the views
- 4/5
It’s okay, but definitely not worth the price.

Muy buena ubicación, al lado de la parada de MARTA y a dos cuadras del parque centennial, coca cola y el acuario. También está cerca del estadio de basketball y football

Parking was a bit stressful at first but other than that it was a good short stay!
- 5/5
Everything was clean and beautiful. The area has historical significance and many signs explaining. Pool looked well kept, but did not have time to use it. My only complaint was online does not show the parking situation clearly. $60 for valet and we paid just over 40 across the street. Didn't really find much to do or look at in downtown area. Front desk were very polite.

- 5/5
The best part about this hotel was the STAFF! From the front desk to the manager. They were personable and friendly… and it was just indeed the best customer service. 10/10.
- 4/5
The only drawback was the carpets in both rooms I had (652 and 658) really need to be clean. I had a minor issue in room 652 but reported. The rooms were nice overall and I would definitely stay at the property again. I loved the vintage mini refrigerator inside the room.
- 3.5/5
The location is great, close to Centennial Park, the Georgia Aquarium and other attractions. The pool area looked wonderful, even though we weren’t able to use it because it was raining. We had quite a bit of luggage (traveling with two little ones), and waited over half an hour for our luggage to be brought up to the room after checking in. We eventually just went down to collect it ourselves. Not sure if there was a miscommunication that we were responsible for it ourselves. The room was so cold (65 degrees) and we couldn’t get the temp to go up. Eventually we just turned off the whole AC. Also, the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, so it made the room feel damp and smell a bit musty.

Complaints are about staff and the bathroom door. Upon arrival, there were 2 employees at the front desk. One was assisting another customer, the other was interacting with them and took awhile to acknowledge me. I heard the other agent offer the guest she was helping complimentary water - I don’t know if that guest had complimentary water because the hotel offers it or something else but I was not offered water. I get to my room and the barn style bathroom door halfway closes. Under no circumstance should you have a guest in a room where a door is not fully closing as expected. Also was not acknowledged by staff at any point other point of my stay, not even when I was leaving. I will not be returning to this property ever again.

Everything was great. Nothing to dislike.

- 4/5
Property was perfectly located, and we had zero issues getting around. I loved the decor and style of the inside and that they tied back to its original design. The pool was the perfect oasis on a hot day, best place to cool off quickly and the complimentary beach towels were a nice touch. Staff were so incredibly kind and helpful, it felt like they were happy to work there. Our room was very clean for the exception that some of the bins were not emptied. Also the glass shower wall has a design flaw - anytime you use the shower water will come out under the glass wall(where it is not attached to the shower base) and go all over the bathroom floor. Those were two minor issues and overall our stay was brilliant.

The hotel is very outdated that the elevator won’t align with the floor. I tripped and getting my luggage with the dolly was a nightmare. Beds were very uncomfortable Layers of weird cushions. The pillows were nice but the bathroom door didn’t not close all the way and the water pressure was low. Hair was left in the tub so it gave me the impression it was not cleaned properly. I hate complaining about anything but I felt discomfort and frustrated that I paid money to stay here. I also tried to cancel one night because my brother was able to move in his dorm early but they declined to consider my request. I paid for unhelpful insurance that didn’t help me resolve my issues.

We arrived at 2am and the staff was very accommodating when we asked to check out at 12 instead. Thank you for being compassionate. We needed that extra hour after a very long drive.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and very helpful. The view from my room was also amazing. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I will be staying here again.
- 5/5
I wasn’t sure when I booked because I always stay at the omni hotel. But when I walked in, it was very clean and a great greeting from the door person to the front desk they helped myself and my husband with everything. It was a little early so they volunteered to check my bags in, gave me a ticket and we went on with the day returning was check in time. The rooms were nice and clean and looked as if they have been updated beautiful overall, the state was a 10 out of 10 from how far I was from the State Farm to the stores around it bars and restaurants, I will be back to return.

We did not stay here. We have already filled out multiple things requested a refund.
- 0.5/5
The location. My final price has already included free breakfast but they keep charging me and even add 20% “Gratuity” without telling me. This is racism. The bathroom is leaking so bad, every time we have to holding an umbrella to use the bathroom.

- 5/5
From upon entering the building, I could tell that this was going to be an amazing stay. The staff were amazing and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. The restaurant/bar were nice.
- 5/5
Cleaning and Staff were great, they were very helpful when I arrive early and even help out in the end since my flight was more later by holding my luggage. I think the down side was mostly my shower door not closing all the way causing some water spill and my room being close to the elevator so it was a bit loud or people would randomly knock on my door at night.
- 4/5
The only issue is that y'all need to fix y'all's door frames so they won't stick as bad as they do
- 4/5
Could have been more sound proof to outside noise

Staff was not willing to cooperate. I had to bring in and put my own water to make coffee in lobby marketplace . Upon request was told that they do not have water to put on coffee machine. Had to request for one item twice . Bathrooms floor needs to be replaced , not upto the mark for Hilton standards.
- 4/5
This hotel is located right where you need to be if you’re going to a basketball or soccer game. It is also very close to the college football hall of fame, Coca Cola park and lots of shopping and restaurants. The property itself is a little outdated but if you’re not spending time in your hotel other than to sleep, this is 10/10 location.

Excellent location near the Congress Centre and a variety of restaurants/bars. Staff was friendly and helpful, and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. Rooms are very clean and quiet and all the common areas are clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in Atlanta

The room and bathroom were fabulous, and I loved the historical information provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was ideal for sightseeing. Everything was clean and attractive. Compared to other hotels, this was excellent value for money. I was disappointed that the pool was not available - it was very warm out! The menu in the restaurant is pretty limited, and I thought my caesar salad was ordinary, perhaps overpriced.

- 5/5
Used the hotel as we went to a concert at State Farm arena, very convenient as only a short walk. The only downside to our visit was there were no valet parking spaces left and we had to find our own parking which was a pain as that part of Atlanta is busy. Other than that the room was great, the bar was very good, the food was OK, could maybe have done with more than one bar tender but the service was good considering the amount of people in the bar.
- 4/5
Thanks so much for the great service from Wendy, Alexis, Shawn and Iris for making my stay even better!
- 5/5
Great location and walkable to several attractions and dining options. Rooms clean and quiet. Bummer the pool was not open yet during my stay.
- 4/5
The actual hotel was great. Staff was courteous and the room was nice. The bar, however was woefully understaffed and unable to handle the service. They were out of according to the bartender "basically everything". The food was unavailable and items listed on the cocktail menu were also unavailable.
- 5/5
Clean hotel and great location
- 5/5
The entire staff, from valet parking to front desk to restaurant crews, were fantasti. They were, friendly, helpful and competent.
- 4/5
Also, I was carrying firearms (openly) and I wasn’t asked about them. That seems incredibly unsafe.
- 5/5
Hotel is nice but if you’re booked to room 315, do yourself a favor and request a new room. There is an incessant vibrating noise that comes from somewhere in the room about ever 3-5 mins.

This hotel was in an absolutely perfect location. I went for a work meeting and was within walking distance of the meeting site. They had live music which was a nice way to wind down my night after a long day of traveling. The staff were all helpful and the room was really nice. The one thing that I didn’t like was I could hear the cars from my room but it wasn’t enough to keep me up during the night.

Location is good in downtown Atlanta which is very close to business area & attractions. However, since the location is in downtown next to the main street, there's a lot of noise from streets especially sport/modified cars with loud exhaust pipes. Noise from the street at nights. Also the hotel didn't provide any drinking water (bottled) at all. The one in the room cost $8. Also they don't provide free wifi for guests. You will need to pay around $12 per day if you want to use hotel wifi. The elevetors also very old & slow (old style elevators).

Great stay. Was able to check in early.
- 5/5
The front desk staff and valet staff were very polite and helpful as we arrived. Ricky went above and beyond to make our stay as good as possible. We’re very happy with our room- it was clean and spacious and very comfortable. The shower was one of the best I’ve experienced in a hotel- strong pressure and good products. The bar had good drinks and breakfast was really good. Location is great for down downtown activities. We’ll definitely stay here again, Ricky is the best!
- 5/5
The pool area was closed my entire trip (4 days). The staff was amazing.
- 4/5
Room was great, staff were friendly. (Avoid the buffet breakfast though). Useful to have a gym but could have used a bit more equipment.
- 4/5
They only have valet parking which is $55 per night, besides that everything else was excellent.

We had two rooms, 326, whose coffee maker and TV did not work, and we reported it to the reception, but they did nothing, and room 332, which had paint putty left in the bathroom and the room had a smell. The hotel parking is very expensive. Overall, this hotel is not worth the price.

Staff most were rude everything was a battle to get had to ask for coffee 4x till we got some in our room a day later , no staff had any ideas about parking in ATL sat in the restaurant for 15mins with 3 customers before anyone said hello then gives us 1 menu for 2 ppl. Just not friendly or knowledgeable, one employee said there was free breakfast but there wasnt just a mess !

I was here for a 3 night stay, the staff was great very friendly and welcoming the hotel itself was clean and the location perfect. The only issue I had was the walls are really thin you can pretty much hear everything in the next room other than that I had no complaints
- 5/5
I liked the history and the staff was excellent. The location was perfect. The only minor issue was there was only one working elevator most of my stay and that caused long waits for busy times
- 5/5
The bathroom door hinges were off so the door wouldn’t completely shut
- 2/5
Breakfast was a $25.99 buffet. No free breakfast or coffee

Staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful! Location was a 5 minute walk from Olympic park and the Coke Museum and aquarium. The Hawks game was less than a 10 minute walk.

It was historical and close to the tabernacle venue and other attractions There is no parking. Had to pay $40 for 24 hour parking down the street

The American Hotel Atlanta Downtown is a very clean and nicely designed hotel. When we were looking for food after checking in, the front desk staff suggested we try the wings and fries at the restaurant inside the Hotel, which turned out to be a hit!! We choose this Hotel because it is walking distance to the State Farm Arena where we were attending an event. Walking there we noticed lots of things to do. I didn't get everyone's name but at some point I did interact with Renee who just happened to give me a card with her name. Thanks Renee and Team you guys were great and very helpful. We will be back for sure!! Thanks again AH Team!! Valarie G.

There isn’t a big driveway so getting picked up in Uber is kind of tricky so you end up walking to a neighboring hotel. Property is fine, but there are better locations.
- 1/5
Furthermore, housekeeping arrives around 3:00 PM, right when you are in your room working. Normally, room cleaning routines should be completed in the morning. The in-room safe is completely out of order. Because of this, I had to carry my considerably heavy valuables in my backpack for two days. Although this is classified as a 4-star property, I can rate it 2 stars at the absolute most.
- 4/5
Staff was pleasant and room was nice. Front desk area and hallways were a bit dated
- 3/5
Location - AC didn’t work for 75% of the stay - front desk did not answer the phone, I called multiple time - our tv didn’t work for the first night - breakfast is chaotic and poorly run - no complementary coffee

Close to a lot of attractions, walking distances to good food spots. Staff were excellent and room cleanliness was 10/10. Only thing I could say is the mini fridge temperature was not cold enough. Otherwise definitely a hotel I will be booking again when I’m back in ATL.

Staff nice, loved the vibes of the hotel The elevators took forever to come. I wanted over 30 minutes for one to come to my floor. Had to take the stairs with my luggage
- 5/5
ALL the staff were helpful & friendly. Check-in check-out were a breeze. Room was clean, & included toiletries & the bed was comfy
- 2/5
The 1 night stay from checking in was not what I expected. The front desk didn’t have my reservation prepaid on Expedia months ago, the room we got had trash in the can, one coffee cup instead of 2 and a little dust rag on the desk. The air conditioner was very loud during the night . The decor was ok. And to top it all after staying 1 night I got charged for the night the second time. I had to call the hotel and the issue got resolved really quick . Overall my experience was not great. I wouldn’t recommend , though location was perfect for my visit to Atlanta to see Lady Gaga .
- 5/5
Loved being so close to everything. Right near Centennial Park and the action.
- 4/5
The room was generally clean. Carpet was slightly dirty. Staff was helpful, respectful. There is a nice park nearby. The parking is not ideal there's parking nearby you pay for. Some homeless people outside but for the most part it was safe. Just needs some updates. It was quiet. Have a hotel in house where you pay for dinner. Food was good.

The building is in a good location but it didn't seem all that well maintained or updated. The heat/ac was so loud in my room and cycled on so often that I ended up turning it off to be able to sleep well. That wasn't ideal since it was in the 20s and 30s at night and cold air was just pouring in around the not well sealed door and old windows. Also, the staff was nice in person but wouldn't answer the phone which was annoying since I was trying to confirm parking options on my way there. Overall, I'd stay in this area again but probably not at this hotel.

We were giving a room that was marked to not be reserved due to an AC issue (according to their mechanic). The AC did not work so when we asked for it to be checked, the mechanic arrived annoyed with us that we were making him work when he was "off the clock." He made sure to tell us he shouldn't be working 5 times. When he opened the unit water came gushing out and started flooding the room. This was at almost midnight after my family had been at a cheer competition all day. The mechanic started yelling and cussing, dropping F bombs in front of my wife and child. He proceeded to say he would go get towels for the water, only to never return or address the issue again. We then went to the front desk and they forced my wife and daughter to go get their stuff, offered no help or assistance, offered NO apology, absolutely nothing. They didn't care and were annoyed that they had to work and move us to a new room. An old hotel with issues that they seemingly don't care about, along with an attitude that they could care less about their customers. As a Hilton Honors member that was charged a LOT for this stay...this was an unacceptable experience and we will never return and can't recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel is good, but the service is not so good, my reservation has breakfast included, i need to confirm all days with servers because looks like they are not familiar with this option. Staff at the front desk were friendly, easy check in. The room was cleaned and the location was great. In the middle: Washcloths had hair on them but the front desk replaced them quickly with a phone call. Cons: The restaurant on site, skip it. I sat at the bar, and the service was poor and the burger was burned. It took forever to get a menu, my drink, my order placed and the burger to come out for it to be burned.

Our stay was incredible! Check in was smooth and Renee was so sweet (there was also a man I can’t remember his name but remembered he lived in St. Pete, FL for 10years lol he was also kind). Room was gorgeous, housekeeping was kind and kept our room looking clean and towels stocked! Would recommend to everyone and hope to come back again

The room was nice, staff was very friendly, centrally located. Only negative was the water pressure in the shower and a little sketchy in the areas around the hotel. But overall, a nice hotel.

the staff was so friendly and amazing the entire time we stayed. special shoutout to johnny, the valet guy. he was so kind and friendly, even throughout the freezing weather. i’m sure it’s hard for those guys to be outside and maintain a good attitude when it’s that cold, so i really appreciated him and his hospitality :) even those at the front desk were extremely helpful from check in to check out. the hotel was clean, the location was great, definitely will recommend this place to others!!

Clean room, friendly staff, everything right in the area. Great location, circle k on the corner and grocery store 6 minutes away. If you need to travel downtown you can ride the scooters instead of looking for parking. The only downside is parking at the hotel is mad expensive

Ricky continued checking in with us to make sure we were ok! The staff were very helpful! The young man who was working valet was very attentive(I don’t recall his name, young man with black glasses) he assisted me in while my husband found parking (valet was full at the time we checked in). He also made sure looked out for our DoorDash delivery. Genesis(maintenance) was very helpful and knowledgeable about the heating/ac and the history of the hotel! We had an amazing experience!
- 4/5
Room was spotless, front deak agent was super sweet anx patient.
- 4/5
Matthew at the front desk. Very kind, funny, and friendly. 😄
- 5/5
2 issues - The bathroom door would not stay closed- which is kinda necessary Also we could not run the ac/fan because it would make a high pitch noise
- 5/5
The staff were great and made sure our stay was wonderful. I really love the historic building and the story of the place.

- 5/5
Had an excellent stay, staff was helpful and polite
- 2/5
Room had issues with toilet and AC unit. It was kind of uncomfortable at times. I had a very uncomfortable encounter with the waiter in the restaurant. He felt it necessary to yell out my name in a comedic way and everyone at the bar heard it. Not my cup of tea.
- 4/5
Convenient and clean. Smelled of weed the entire time. Husband tried to check in 30 minutes early and was made to wait while others were checked in ahead of him even though they were early too. The detail to the historical nature of the building is great. Look for the hardware cuz its real. Our balcony overlooked the AC and was loud but nice veiw of the farris wheel. Across from the police station so fairly safe but the homeless screaming in the street was unnerving. Walk within the aquarium as long as it is in day which is why we booked. Waffle house is right near too!!!

I left clothes in the closet and they did have them for me and took them to my friends room after I had left. To be very busy they were very pleasant and friendly at all times!
- 2/5
We had 2 rooms. One room the toilet did not function well and neither did the air. The other room the air didn't work at all. Needed something to drink but the only thing available was water from bathroom tap or pay $5.00 for one bottle of soda. All night, all I heard was cars racing in the streets below and the characters walking around the hotel were sketchy and panhandling. I did not feel welcomed here and I would not stay here again unless I had to. I am sorry to leave this review bc I do not like leaving bad reviews.
- 5/5
All was really good. Friendly staff, clean room, amenities. The bar tender guy was awesome.
- 5/5
The staff went above and beyond! The room was clean and comfortable. The dinner was exceptional!

Tried to check in twice. Both times agents were unclear and did not properly communicate about deposit pricing and valet cost fees. Just kept requesting we need a card on file for damages. Both were rude
- 5/5
One night only for a show at the Tabernacle. Walk was not even as long as my driveway at home. Had one drink at the bar, delish. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Room was very clean and tastefully decorated. No balcony but view was still nice of the surrounding buildings and street. Will def recommend to friends who are in ATL for anything downtown. Thanks
- 4/5
The first room wasn’t too pleasant. I then requested another one after noticing an insect on the bed. The young lady at the desk seemed to be uneasy about my “kindly toned complaint” & I felt every bit of her attitude… In her body language etc. She did give us a better room after briefly speaking to her mgr-didn’t seem to want to. However, I liked the beautiful boutique decor and hotel’s character. Nice location, near a lot of nice activities.

- 5/5
It was a nice room. Enjoyed sleeping on the King Size bed. Service is nice as well. Would like to try to stay there for another trip.
- 5/5
Hotel is fantastic and has a historical background. Service was outstanding, especially MaleeHa who gave us a tour of the penthouse. Location is close to major attractions. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Didn’t get to see the balcony scene, nor try the bar, but it was an absolute pleasure staying at your location, and Leah was especially generous and went out of her way to make us comfortable and feel wanted even when we had to stay for a few hours after the Falcons game yesterday. All in all, employees were fantastic, especially Leah, and will certainly look to stay with you again for another game next year!
- 5/5
Staff was great.
- 5/5
The property was in a very convenient location to the Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta Olympic Park, MLK Jr. National Park, Coca-Cola World, etc. The front desk staff was great and Carlos the secutiy man was super helpful and friendly. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Everything was great! No complaints! Loved the balcony and shower! 10/10!!
- 5/5
Clean downtown hotel with friendly and helpful staff. MaleeHa at the front desk was excellent.
- 4/5
The place was amazing, the staff was underwhelming. The front desk was too distracted upon check in to let us know where our room, or even the elevators, was located.
- 5/5

The staff were INCREDIBLE. Everyone was so kind and nice, very welcoming- Every part of the hotel and room was clean! And my friend said the breakfast was great!
- 5/5
Nicehotel
- 5/5
Valet parking makes it so easy. Perfect place to stay because it’s 10 mins from every attractions
- 5/5
We chose this hotel because it was close to the location.
- 3/5
Less understandable is the food at the restaurant. It tasted sub-par. Burger was bland and the chicken tenders were dry. The worst part was the bathroom: the sliding door is shared with the closet and does little in the way of privacy, offering no lock. The water pressure was abysmal, and it took almost 15 minutes to get to a decent temperature. The water also leaks out of the shower and, if left unattended (which you may need to do unless you want to get a cold shower), will stream outside the bathroom and into the hall. Making matters worse, when we mentioned the bathroom issue with the staff, they told us they would look into it but we never heard back from them. When we followed up about it later, we were met with blank stares. Obviously our request fell through the cracks.
- 4/5
My original room had stains and crumbs on the bed, however when I made the front desk aware they immediately moved me to another room which was upgraded with no extra charge. Other than that the staff was super friendly and I had no other issues. Location is great walking distance from a lot of attractions.
- 5/5
From beginning to end felt very welcomed. Tenn, who checked me in was warm, welcoming and friendly and dealt with all my questions. The room was comfortable and provided everything I needed for the trip. Perfect location and very glad they could accommodate me last minute at a busy time when my original accommodation fell through. Could not be happier with the stay.
- 5/5
Good location to everything
- 3/5
This hotel, while historic and centrally located downtown, needs some help. The facilities appear worn out, the carpets need a deep clean. The rooms are fine but basic. My room had a balcony but the huge ac unit outside made it impossible to sit outside because of noise. The toilet in my room clogged all four days of my stay and required maintenance to unclog. I reported it to the Front Desk and maintenance arrived promptly But no one arranged a real repair so the problem recurred. Since I booked with Expedia they could not refund me, only provide Hilton points. But given this experience with Hilton….
- 5/5
The area was very walkable, great restaurants and a jazz club nearby. The area after a certain hour is a little sketchy it is the city.
- 3/5
Carpet was pretty dirty
- 5/5
Great location and hotel staff was very helpful. They run a smooth operation when larger hotels nearby looked really chaotic. It was quiet and perfect for my trip!
- 5/5
Staff were friendly and helpful. Quick check in and great restaurant recommendations.
- 5/5
We booked for the location, and were pleasantly surprised by the facilities and staff. Some things contradicted other reviews that were written before our visit. There was daily effective housekeeping and a hot water brewer in the room. Comfy bed and pillows, blackout curtains, quiet at night. The lobby seemed secure despite people from all walks of life in the vicinity. The gym, pool and boardrooms were all great. And best of all, we were unexpectedly granted an early check-in for no fee. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again if we wanted to stay downtown.
- 5/5
Definitely returning!
- 3/5
did not like the location of the property
- 5/5
The property was clean, the food was good. the layout and decor was amazing. And the history of the hotel was awesome. Everyone was friendly and personable. I will be back.

- 5/5
Walking distance to the Tabernacle and the Aquarium.
- 5/5
Booked this place because it was so close to Dragon con. Was so convenient and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Valet parking was great to have. Our only problem was our shower had a leak. Otherwise our room was comfortable and clean.
- 4/5
The staff is amazing..
- 4/5
Other than that, everything was fine.
- 5/5
Very Nice
- 4/5
The property was nice. It was in a nice location. The aquarium and Coca-Cola was in walkable distance. The property was clean and the staff was helpful.
- 5/5
Amazing every time
- 5/5
The staff was great and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.
- 3/5
It was nice comfortable check in lady name Ten Y. was very nice valet was nice. Only thing I didn’t like is all the homeless hanging around I was cussed out by one cause I wouldn’t give him money, the tightness of leaving the driveway area is super tight and water pressure on the shower
- 3/5
I didn't like that I was not told about a deposit until I got there.
- 3/5
Location wasn’t the greatest and we had a leakage in our room from the AC
- 5/5
The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful! The hotel and room were very clean! Valet parking was great! Normal parking was a bit confusing which is why we opted for valet. Spacing for valet is very limited though.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was amazing
- 4/5
The room itself was comfortable and clean. Shower was good, AC worked almost too well for August because it would stay very cold in the room even though we turned it up to 73 or 74 F (We had to turn the AC off for a little while each night to keep it from being so chilly). The lobby was lovely, but very hot in August, like there was no A/C anywhere else in the building except in the guest rooms (?). I needed to print some things and was told there was no business center on-site, even though the booking description lists a business center. And the homeless hang out in the little park immediately north of the hotel, and I really did not feel comfortable walking through that area every morning and night.
- 1/5
The boy working the counter at the check in threatened then tried to cancel my reservation because of my service animal. It was noted in my reservation that I would have my service animal with me. When I refused to tell why I needed her (the law states that I do not, I don't care what the hotel policy is, the law supersedes company policy) he said he was canceling my reservation. I then started to record the encounter to protect myself, then he stated that he felt "threatened" by this and tried to cancel my reservation again. GM was able to override his decision, then offered "a free bottle of water for compensation". What a joke. Will not be staying there again.
- 4/5
Lovely welcome by the check in staff. Lovely spacious room. The fridge was broken & leaked water all over the floor soaking the carpet so we had to move suitcases off the floor etc.
- 4/5
Great experience great energy from the staff I just didn’t like the room I paid for and booked a month in advance for my husband birthday I did not get they gave me whatever they had left if I booked for a certain room that mean it would have been reserved for me started his birthday of bad the sink was stopped up and one of the queen bed was broke and couldnt lay in it couldn’t hang up clothes because the closet door would not open to use the iron or anything the door wouldn’t lock other than that I would book again they just need to do some more renovations and give people the room they book for not what they want to give so I feel like I should have got a discount
- 5/5
Great hotel and people and the location is good for things to do but there is just alot of homeless people that camp outside and around it
- 4/5
It was too cold in my room and the heater did no work.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a good location, we walked to everything. The bathroom door didn’t close, the whole floor smelled like marijuana the first day, but the staff was friendly and very helpful.
- 5/5
The property was clean, the staff was friendly with text check in's and breakfast was pretty good. Would stay here again.
- 1/5
I've travel a lot for work. This has to be one of the worst visits ivee
- 5/5
Very clean and staff was awesome
- 3/5
I don’t believe the double queen bedroom is as advertised, and very expensive for the limited options when it comes to food and even getting an extra cot
- 5/5
Cute location
- 2/5
I always read reviews before booking a room. I read several great reviews on this place so I was very surprised at how our experience went. The lady at the front desk was quite rude. She barely spoke and looked like she was angry at the world the whole time. We were forced into paying $60 for valet parking because it's the only parking option we were given. This was on top of the rate we paid for the room. The hotel did seem very clean, which was nice. My bed was awful. It felt like I was sleeping on the floor! They used a top sheet instead of a fitted sheet so it kept sliding off as well. The guys working valet were very kind and friendly though. That was really the only positive part of our stay there.
- 4/5
A great location and rooms are a good size for a family of 4. Service is lacking. Never had any offers of help with suitcases on arrival or departure. No offers to help with taxis or onward travel on departure. Had to repeatedly ask for extra towels - we were left 2 for a family of 4. Two glasses were left in the room so we asked for 2 more given we were 4 and were told no?! Pool was shut for a private event (luckily weather was bad else this would have been a real disappointment for our kids. Generally the service just felt lack lustre and it stops this hotel being rated higher for us. It's a shame it could be great given where it is.
- 4/5
They came and corrected the issue. The toliet seat wasn't cleaned
- 3/5
Room was not a clean as it could be. Extremely hot. Someone left gum in my trash can. No microwave in the room.
- 3/5
This hotel requires $100.00 security deposit per night. They gad mini fridges in the rooms but no microwave. You'll have to travel to the lobby and use a community microwave. So what's the point of having a mini frige if you can't heat your food in your room. I changed rooms during a 3 day stay and th air conditioners leaked. The hallways and elevators are soo hot and valet parking is astronomical in price. Luckily room services cleans your room everyday. I'd choose a different hotel my next visit to Atlanta.
- 4/5
The rooms need more lighting. There was only one lamp on the desk and a light when you first walked into the lol by the closet. It seemed to be missing a lamp that typically sits on the night stand in between the beds.
- 5/5
Great Hotel
- 3/5
The overall stay was great. I just didn't like how I wasn't advised that I had to give a deposit when I checked in when I already made reservations.
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
Average hotel.
- 3/5
The lady at check in was rude and never greeted me, just demanded my ID and security deposit. She didn’t even take the time to tell me about the hotel or any of the amenities. Our sink base was leaking water and flooded the bathroom counter night one. After an engineer came to check it out we didn’t experience any other problems thankfully.
- 4/5
Where to park wasn't obvious and Having an 8$ bottle of water in the room as temptation on a July Atlanta afternoon felt like a taunt, but the staff was lovely and the bed was very comfortable
- 5/5
close to our work place
- 5/5
Just amazing
- 2/5
I wish I had nicer feedback to share. Was in Atlanta for the weekend and immediately upon entering the lobby was smacked in the face with not only extreme heat but humidity. The front desk receptionist had the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel let alone a Hilton. I wanted to change my room to a double bed but honestly didn’t want to even deal with her and her attitude that I just let it alone. When entering the room I was disturbingly met with hairs in the sink and stains on the pillow cases. My friends who stayed on the same floor down the hall had blood stains on their window curtains. Then there came a towel shortage after numerous calls and requests for additional towels what was brought to us were the pool towels. Overall I would never ever ever stay at this hotel and would never recommend anyone. It was a sad experience.
- 5/5
Perfect stay, except on of the elevators were broken, so that ended up being a bit of a hassle. Doubt it would still be broken now, since everything there seemed in great condition. Great location and perfectly clean room!!!
- 4/5
Nice property, ideal location.
- 4/5
Pros: -Most of the staff were helpful and nice -Location was very convenient -room and bathroom were very clean -lobby kept clean -tight security for floors -nice bathroom soaps/shampoos/conditioners -breakfast was decent for $26 per -cute retro theme throughout Cons: -only 1 small working elevator -everywhere was humid and hot except my room -housekeeping entered my room although i had the DND sign on door -parking is only valet for $55 per night -room was tiny, okay for 1 person but I couldn't imagine trying to share it -the bed pillows were so ridiculously soft you had to use 3 just to get a regular pillow size -no parking for food delivery and you have to leave your room to meet since they cant come up on the floors
- 5/5
The staff was extremely kind and welcoming. This was not my first time booking and will not be the last!
- 3/5
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel; however, I was disappointed with my interaction with the woman working on Saturday morning. She was condescending when I asked about breakfast information and repeatedly joked by repeating my name, which I found off putting.
- 5/5
The staff members are hospitable, which makes anyone stay pleasant. American Hotel crew served with a smile and met my needs with excellence. My room was very accommodating and clean. I loved the choice of decor. This hotel is known for it’s history. Having a picture of Mr. Luther King Jr. in my room was a plus. The hotel is in the best location of downtown. I was able to walk to Olympic park, World Coca-Cola, and my Hop on Hop on sightseeing tour with minutes. I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Should have stayed ar wesrin
- 5/5
The staff was great
- 5/5
It was a beautiful experience and the history of the hotel was inspiring!
- 3/5
The hotel stay was fine, and I had no issues with my room. However, the hotel’s website claims there are multiple parking options but when u arrive there is only one and it’s valet for $55 a night! Or park in the parking garage across the street for $40 a night. But you can’t come and go because if you’re there for more than 3 hours it’s $40! They should be able to accommodate their guest a lot better than that especially if they have their own parking garage. That is simply a scam.
- 5/5
Downtown so there are places to walk to. Nice hotel!
- 5/5
The gentleman and crew at the front desk acted professionally and was very accommodating in spite of some technical failures with the payment systems earlier in the day.
- 5/5
One of the best place for your vacation in Atlanta
- 5/5
The man that helped me at the front desk was very nice and friendly. Hotel was perfect honestly. The only bad thing I have to say is somehow a rusty straightedged razor blade was found in my suitcase after house cleaning cleaned the room. It doesn't belong to me or anyone with me. Highly suspicious and mentally disturbing. No one should have business being in my suitcase. Otherwise, great hotel.
- 5/5
Perfect staying, pretty close to everything I needed, all clean
- 1/5
Issue with arrival and booking. Staff VERY rude. Reached out to Expedia after they told me issue had to be resolved through them. Once Expedia contacted staff left them on numerous, prolonged holds. Even though my money was refundable, they played games for 2 hours to do so and staff act like they didn’t know the policy to implement the refund. Seems like they’ve gotten away with not refunding folks according to their policy. Would not recommend a hotel that will cancel your reservation, attempt to take the entire amount for the stay, rude about refund, just so they can book another stay….double dipping schemers.

Thirty minutes after I checked in, unpacked, and was right about to settle in for a nap, the fire alarm went off. The entire 8th floor was going off. At first, I thought it was an accident, so I was just waiting for it to end. It never did. I grabbed the phone to dial the front desk and the phone was out of service. It was then that I realized the sprinklers were going off in the hallway! I had to rush and repack all of my things as quickly as I could. Laptop, all of my work trip clothes would have been ruined if the sprinklers went off in the room! The hallways quickly became flooded, and dirty flood water was now seeping into my room at a rapid pace. I had to urgently pack and throw towels down to try to slow down the rapid flooding that was taking place. I managed to pack everything right as the sprinklers stopped. I found a maintenance worker who helped grab my luggage and lift it through the flood. He got me back down to the lobby to get a new room. They upgraded me but it was still traumatic. Then, my last day of the stay, I had to assist in the rescue of a man who was stuck in their faulty elevator. God knows how long he was in there! I literally helped pull him out! He was not happy. I then found out he was just checking into the 8th floor! I had to warn him that the 8th floor had just flooded and advised him to change floors. So do not stay on 8, and do not take the elevator on the right. I was also almost stuck on it the day before.

The American was a very nice stay. The staff were so polite and professional. From valet attendance front desk and the maintenance staff, everyone was welcoming and kind. Dinner was also so delicious at the restaurant. Bartender did his big one. Awesome stay and will for sure be back. I also loved the history of the building on display as well as the decor of the facility.

Terrible valet ($55) service. Had to change rooms. Because air conditioning wasn’t working. Too many issues for such an expensive place.

We loved the location near the park and many other attractions. The hotel was pretty. We wish valet parking was less money. We wish water in the room at least 1 bottle was complimentary. The desk attendants were courteous and kind.

The history of the hotel is what makes it wonderful. The front desk people were very nice and the valet service was professional and on point. Sadly, my room was not cleaned more than once during my five-night stay and I had to bag up my own garbage, which was very disappointing. Other than short of staff, this hotel is fairly nice and the historical piece is extraordinary.
