This time I was particularly impressed by the quality of the customer service. It was responsive, flexible, and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful old facility, beautifully decorated, from furniture to linens. I was in the handicapped room, BUT, I am short, and walk with double canes. Tge room needs a stool to get into bed. After trying several options, I finally sat on the wall side and walked my feet up the wall. This would NOT work for most handicapped guests. Also could not get coffee machine to work. Used my friend’s.

Beautiful vintage super clean

Beautiful rooms, walkable, comfortable rooms, really enjoyed. Great for couples
- 4.5/5
Beautiful historic property. Artistic mural in our room. Very quiet neighborhood walkable to Shakespeare festival. No host or staff at property. Self check in and out. Pot smokers smoke in upstairs rooms permeated the hotel common areas.
- 3.5/5
Beautiful aesthetic, quiet, centrally located, walking distance to restaurants, Shakespeare Festival grounds, and Lithia Park.
- 4.5/5
Beautiful location, beautiful building nice outside garden, very quiet Place is remotely run I would prefer personal contact. Room has no desk or work surface.
- 4.5/5
Perfect location to walk everywhere, including OSF. Peerless restaurant has excellent happy hour and dining menu. We also enjoyed nearby Nobel Coffee and La Boulanger .The communal sitting /dining area in the hotel is super comfortable. Cheapest toilet paper ever. Tacky tacky tacky. It was better at the gas station. It also might be nice to have somewhere we can empty our own trash daily.
- 4/5
A friendly heads up, there are no staff at the hotel. Everything worked out but it was very difficult for me to carry my luggage up the stairs to my room. (as a mid-late 60's woman). Note to self: pack lighter when staying in a place without an elevator. With that said, would I stay again?.... You bet, it was beautiful!
- 5/5
Unique, charming and historic accommodations. Walkable to OSF plays, restaurants, food coop, boutiques and even a wonderful bike/walk/jog trail.
- 5/5
Lovely restored old style building. Very clean with nice amenities and an amazing shower For a few rooms, it’s up some right stairs with no elevator. Just plan for that. Would also be nice to have more surfaces

Unexpectedly delightful, quirky, artsy restored hotel in a nice neighborhood

We traveled to Ashland for our anniversary and stayed in the anniversary sweet at the historic Peerless Hotel. The room was absolutely magical and had us feeling like we were living in the Victorian Era. The side by side claw foot tubs were so dreamy and came with bubbles and bath salt options. I left my IPad there and the owner promptly contacted me and shipped it to me the next day! 10/10 experience! There’s honestly nothing we didn’t like!
- 5/5
Loved the care and attention put into preserving this historic building. A new and very comfortable bed, gorgeous decor and luxurious jacuzzi were perfect after a long day of road tripping. Hannah gave us good dining suggestions and the neighborhood is charming and walkable, with a popular local coffee shop two doors down. We will definitely stay here again. Everything was great!
- 5/5
Loved the location, decor, special touches, common areas inside and out.
- 4/5
Walking through the front door you step back in time, greeted by a warm fire in the hearth, period photographs, beautiful walls and furniture. The rooms are works of art. Socialist AC with no individual control...the whole historic building is heated and cooled by one central HVAC. I like it cold at night, but there isn't any way for individualistic taste...
- 5/5
I highly recommend this historic and wonderfully restored hotel.
- 4.5/5
Beautiful historic building with antiques and historic charm throughout. The only thing is that my room didn’t have air conditioning, it wasn’t a big deal as it wasn’t too hot outside, but would’ve liked to have it.
- 4.5/5
Great location. Spotless. Comfortable. Large room. It’s an old building and this the shower was added and is quite small.
- 5/5
The rooms are beautiful! Great location, an easy walk to downtown. Hannah is a wonderful host.
- 5/5
The Peerless Hotel was a lovely hotel with an updated antique vibe. Super cozy, comfortable bed. We really enjoyed our stay. Located in the heart of Ashland, it was an easy walk to our favorite restaurant Osteria Briccola. Parking was challenging, as there is only 3 spots in the back of the hotel. Loved everything else.
- 5/5
The building was charming, the location was great. Access via the automated locks was easy. No issues
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Gorgeous furnishings. Great location. Is my favorite room to stay in.
- 5/5
The property was in a nice quiet neighborhood. there were things close by so it was very walkable. The back porch was quaint.
- 5/5
Lovely stay.
- 5/5
The hot tub worked perfectly. It was very quiet and peaceful. The artistic details, murals, and history photos were beautiful. Thew owners were super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We really enjoyed relaxing in the jetted tub.
- 5/5
This historic hotel was everything we hoped for. Was very low key in a quiet neighborhood. The twin soaking tubs were perfect. It really felt like a trip back in time. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Couldn't be better. Excellent place to stay.
- 5/5
Cute hotel
- 5/5
Very charming hotel, the common areas were cute and clean with free coffee and tea. My husband and I stayed in the anniversary sweet for two nights. We had an excellent stay! Checked in right at 4:00pm and self check in was a breeze. Our room was super spacious and very clean. The bathtubs were my favorite feature and we put them to good use. Plenty of hot water for both tubs. We will be back again!
- 5/5
The room was perfect! I booked this for my birthday/halloween celebration! It did not disappoint! Bathtub (Jr Suite 2) was relaxing and huge! There is a restaurant next door (I did not eat there), noble coffee half a block down, a small Mexican place around the corner. It is about a mile easy walk into Lithia plaza. Very walkable through residential neighborhoods.
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet
- 5/5
A lovely spot to stay! Our room was beautifully furnished and cozy with a historic charm. The outdoor balcony was a great way to wake up with a cup of coffee. Within walking distance of the theaters and downtown.
- 4/5
The Victorian charm oozes from every pore of this building (if a building can be said to have pores), with delightful and eccentric Knick Knacks in both the public and private areas. Getting in was a breeze with the lock codes, and we were treated to chocolate & a small champagne split in our room (#6). The bed was comfortable and had both firm and soft pillows. The walls were covered in hand painted murals. My only complaints were that the walls are thin and loud conversations from our neighbors kept us up the first night, and that the adorable clawfoot tub had its overflow drain set low enough that it was hard to soak (neither of which was the fault of the hotel.
- 5/5
The Peerless was a nice stay for a couple nighta on our trip up the coast. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. Plenty of space and quiet during our stay. The adjustable shades made the views customizable. So we could open them more to see the mountain views or close them. There are homes and businesses on all sides, but still felt private. The bathtub was a decent size for two large adults. I loved the whole vibe of the room. They have done a great job of keeping the historic feel. It was within walking distance or a short drive of a main street stretch of shops. I didn't book it for this reason, but the ad says ADA compliant but I would not book this room if you cannot climb the steep twisty staircase. I had a hard time carrying our luggage up it. The no staff on sight was a new experience. But the instructions for getting in were very easy.
- 5/5
Close walk to the plays and Main Street dining! Beautifully restored hotel with all the amenities. Loved our stay, will definitely choose The Peerless next time in Ashland!
- 5/5
We enjoyed two nights here. There is a quaint and shady courtyard for lounging, and the room was unique. The bed was very comfortable! We enjoyed the mini complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and having morning coffee freshly made. The location is within easy walking distance to downtown, though a few blocks from the main drag. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
There was no staff onsite.
- 3/5
The place was beautiful but we had ants in our jazzie and spiders on me and found some kind of pill 💊 on the floor and bed comforter was back had some gross white stuff on top of it so not clean. Felt very unclean very upset with it.
- 5/5
It was very clean and romantic as advertised. Loved the quiet space and tubs. Unique and luxurious hotel experience.
- 5/5
Truly wonderful place to stay. Will return.
- 5/5
If you want something very different fr0m the chain hotel give it a go.
- 5/5
The Peerless was so quiet and welcoming. Even though it was 100 degrees outside when I arrived, inside was wonderfully cool. I enjoyed the seating in the room and the bed was incredibly comfortable.
- 5/5
Stayed here three times. And I will again. The rooms are quiet, cosy, and utterly charming. The staff are on call and they answer all questions and take care of any issues quickly. Try this place. I'm a hard core hotel critic and I love the Peerless.

Beautiful old hoyel
- 5/5
Great historic hotel. If you're looking for modern amenities this is not it. But antiques, charm and a unique experience this is it. Don't expect anyone to carry your luggage or have a lot of bathroom space. Just small, quaint and memorable
- 4/5
We arrived earlier than expected. We were able to get in but not into our room. We really need restroom but there isn’t one outside of the rooms. We sent a message asking if we could get in but never received a response. Our room was comfortable. Getting in and out of the tub shower was challenging for me as I have short legs. The community sitting room is comfortable. No decaf tea or coffee available. Good location just under 1/2 mile to OSF. Would consider staying again as long as we can get a room on the first floor.
- 5/5
If I was forced to suggest any improvements I'd love a slightly later checkout time. But this isn't a deal breaker. Can't wait to stay again.
- 5/5
I absolutely adored The Peerless Hotel, I thought everything was beautiful!!
- 5/5
We stayed in the double tub room and it was was gorgeous! They provided bath salts and bubbles which was a really cute touch, only wish they’d provided bath robes to be able to lounge in. They have a beautiful sitting room attached which was a nice place to relax in after. There is no kitchen, but they had a fridge, so that was nice. And there was tea and coffee down stairs every morning. Its location was awesome too, in walking distance from everything! There’s a coffee place basically next door (it’s a bit pricy, so we walked a little farther to Case coffee, our personal favorite) there are breakfast places close by, and the co op is only a few blocks away. We will definitely be coming back!
- 5/5
Amazing property. Book this hotel before purchasing play tickets because they offer discounts On OSF tickets. Easy walk to theaters and downtown.
- 5/5
This is a charming old historic hotel, filled with beautiful antiques. It’s clean and comfortable, and the location is so convenient. There was easy parking on the street, but we really enjoyed walking to most things.
- 3/5
Very cool to stay in a historic building that’s in a desirable location, however the furniture in the room and in the patio were terribly uncomfortable for sitting. Bed was comfy. We stayed on the ground floor, someone on the 2nd floor showered at 11pm and the water in the pipes sounds like a hurricane in our room.
- 5/5
We are regulars at Peerless. We are there 5 times per year. Home away from home! Check in and then we walk all over town, lithia park, theatres etc!
- 5/5
This place was very clean and quiet. Absolutely the perfect romantic get away. Very conveniently located to really good restaurants.
- 5/5
Fun and unique stay in an awesome location. Great dinner at the Peerless restaurant next door, sweet coffee shop and recycled furniture on same street, and easy walk downtown. Only disappointment was the coffee - they only had powdered creamer available in the room and lobby. Otherwise we loved our stay!
- 5/5
That said, the mattresses themselves were not quite what I would have liked as I feel the quality did not match everything else in the hotel. Would have preferred firmer, higher quality mattresses. Other than that, the rooms were just a touch cold with no way to offset, despite layering up and/or tucking in to bed. Loved the space. Will stay again.
- 3/5
Everything was good and was as advertised. The place is charming and easily walkable. Great coffee shop next door.
- 5/5
This is a very special stay and definitely earns the reputation of a romantic stay!
- 5/5
only one night, but rested well in the comfy bed.
- 5/5
The Peerless is beautifully restored, nicely furnished, and very well maintained. We loved our stay and will return, whether you will love it likely depends on your reaction to the unstaffed model. Entry is via keypad since there is no staff onsite, but email and local phone contacts are provided just in case. Our room #6 was small, with little counter space, so we spent most of our waking hours in the lovely rear parlor instead. The room had a small fridge but no TV or microwave; parlor had coffee machine, hot water, many books about Ashland and Oregon tourism, no microwave, no snack vending machine. No elevator, just a narrow twisty staircase to second floor, so you'll be carrying your own bags up to rooms 3-7. Few other customers during our 4 night late summer stay, hence very quiet. Street parking in front plus three guest parking spaces in back. Pleasant short walk to Main St. and OSF theaters.
- 5/5
I can't tell you how much I loved just hanging out at the Hotel. The whole property felt like a warm hug.
- 5/5
Beautiful refinished building. The honeymoon suite is a dream.
- 4/5
The keyless self-check-in was lovely and worked well! Heads up that you do not have any control over the heat or A/C in your rooms. This was fine but sometimes meant we woke up too toasty in the mornings, or went to bed chilly. We had a fridge in our room, but no microwave, so leftovers from restaurants could only be eaten cold. The other thing missing that would have taken the room to the next level is a box of kleenex or facial tissues. We would absolutely stay here again!
- 5/5
Wonderful boutique hotel with lots of historic charm and great amenities. Very conveniently located 5-10 minute walk to downtown Ashland. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this historic property, lovingly restored, with private and lush garden spaces and rooms for conversation and contemplating. On-line booking, keyless entry and self check-in went smoothly. Clean, quiet, close to downtown. My new first choice for stays in Ashland.
- 5/5
Great hotel, quiet at night, but easy walking to downtown! We loved the history of the place, the great room, and shared spaces in the hotel. No onsite staff, but everything was easy! We enjoyed our stay and it was definitely in part due to the Peerless!!
- 5/5
Could not have gone any smoother..the room was amazing
- 5/5
Unique, quiet, and all around great stay. If i could recommend one thing, it would be a microwave at least in the lobby. It's possible there was one that we just didn't see somewhere. We will stay again for sure.
- 5/5
A very unique experience. It is a self serve hotel. The email I received for information regarding passcodes was a bit confusing as it didn't specify any information on which room I was staying in. I had to refer to my Expedia booking, so it would help if the information was all in one place. Because there was no on site staff and it being a historic building, the hotel did have a ghostly vibe and I was quite taken back at the eerie, quiet loneliness. My room was well maintained and clean. There is easy street parking and walking distance to a coffee shop.
- 5/5
A favorite stop for me
- 5/5
Love the key pad systems for all the doors! It made check-in & check-out the easiest it’s ever been. The room was immaculate & gorgeous. We are regular tourists in Ashland & have stayed in many other hotels & airbnbs & we would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I love my stay! My room was unique and so comfortable. Fabulous sheets, towels and bathtub! Super close to the best coffee shop in Ashland and very walkable to the downtown core. I will stay here again.
- 5/5
We had a lovely experience at the peerless hotel. The whole building is full of charm and character! I highly reccomend it to anyone looking for a weekend away.
- 5/5
My stay seemed to be off season because I felt I was the only one staying at the hotel. A charming hotel (with a Steven King "Shining" vibe) that was relaxing and a pleasant walk downtown for dining and theater. Definite rebooking in my future.
- 5/5
This was a very pleasant stay, I am already thinking about returning to this very room the next time I pass through Ashland. The room is lovely, huge, clean, and very comfortable. The entire building is well-designed and taken care of, so much beautiful decor and the plants are a very nice touch. The location is perfect, everything is within walking distance and quiet at night. No issues with keyless entry, very easy to check-in and out.
- 5/5
Unique kind of hotel. We loved it.
- 1/5
Beautiful decor. Expedia failed to send an email with the door code details.
- 5/5
It was for my daughters wedding night and she LOVED it.
- 5/5
My GF and I had a wonderful time here. Self-check-in was super easy and the room was wonderful, especially the huge bathtub and big bed. They had Wifi, but no TV (at least I don't think they did - which is a good thing). The other visitors at the hotel were very kind. I would love to know even MORE about the history of this hotel.
- 4/5
Very unique hotel. Interesting fixtures, decor and furnishings. The coffee service in the morning could be much improved. The self-check in is awkward when there are problems.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Very quiet and comfortable.
