Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the convenient location of the hotel, which is within walking distance to food, plays, and downtown Ashland. The staff is frequently described as friendly and kind. However, many guests express dissatisfaction with the quality of the rooms, citing issues such as outdated decor, uncomfortable beds, and insufficient lighting. Breakfast offerings are also a common complaint, with guests describing them as disappointing and limited.
- Convenient location
- Friendly staff
- Outdated and uncomfortable rooms
- Disappointing breakfast offerings

Clean room near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Nice breakfast & easy parking.
- 4/5
Location to downtown and OSF was excellent. Bed had a slope and mattress needed to be replaced. Pillows were small and uncomfortable. Air conditioner was loud and kept me awake most of the night.
- 5/5
I made a mistake and did not reserve the type of room we usually get and the staff upgraded me for free. We frequently stay at Bards for the convenience of walking around down town and around Lithia Park. Great location!
- 4/5
Very good
- 2.5/5
Great location and friendly staff. Pretty good breakfast buffet. The mattress was really really uncomfortable. I'm not picky when it comes to sleep. Honestly, it was the worst mattress I've ever slept on. In hindsight, I should have requested a different room. For an expensive hotel, you can sure tell that they don't update the rooms. Musty carpet smell, old warped floors, etc. Sorry to say, I will stay somewhere else next time.
- 5/5
Affordable. Nice staff. Clean. Above average breakfast ( it’s says Continental, but there are eggs and a pancake machine!) A/C works and the fan creates a moderate white noise for sleep, which we appreciate.
- 2/5
I did not realize that there are multiple properties. Unfortunately we got a room at the older property. The room smelled musty and we were in a bad location with a lot of foot traffic. The bathroom door was hard to close because door frame is broken.
- 4.5/5
Staff, location - room was clean & comfortable Breakfast was ok, but not great
- 3/5
It is nice that they offer breakfast, which is super basic, but yes, it's something... My room was the very basic one, with a king size bed and it was very clean and comfortable. With all that said, I paid $1,000 for 4 nights. I don't think the room I stayed in was worth that much. Yes, Ashland is sought after, specially at this time of the year, but again, $250/night for a very basic room is too much in my opinion.
- 5/5
however, staff was great.
- 2.5/5
Location Noise and the hotel is tired
- 5/5
Very close to the town center. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay here again! This is not associated with the hotel, but the city had the main street in front of the hotel torn up to the point that it was not possible to walk to the businesses only a few blocks away. We had to drive our car around the construction and find parking, which is always challenging in Ashland.
- 5/5
Disappointed in our room air conditioner, that continually shut down and never cooled the room sufficiently. The staff offered to move us, but by that time we were unpacked and had reservations for dinner.
- 3.5/5
breakfast no drama ... food was there and on time. Room very pleasant. Could of had cooked oatmeal vs packaged. Could of been vegan friendly with protein alternatives. afraid to ask what was in those eggs. staff friendly enough See above plus refrigerator too small, Room small. Bed Spread lumpy and slipping within itself otherwise okay.
- 1/5
Pretty low end
- 4/5
breakfast was very good and generous. TV was easy to use. Location of room was perfect.
- 4/5
We were only there for overnight so did not get to experience much.
- 3/5
It always took 2-3 tries to unlock the door, as the handle would not “catch” on the first tries. Mold/corrosion in water receptacle of coffee maker. Room is dimly lit by low-wattage fixtures and no overhead lights. Maids did not perform room/sheet/towel refresh even though I requested the service and was out all day. The concierge said my request didn’t “propagate through the system” and even after he told the maids who were still on premises to do it, they never did. Toilet is very old, low to the floor, has a very small round seat, and you have to hold the lever down for a few seconds to flush it. TV is very basic, with no streaming services (not a “smart” TV typical of modern hotels)
- 5/5
Cute theme. Nearby the theatres and shopping so walkable! Breakfast included- liked the pancake machine.
- 3.5/5
Good
- 4/5
Room was quiet and comfortable. The location was exceptional, very close to restaurants, shops, and the Shakespeare Festival. Breakfast was filling. The room had a duvet cover that was shiny and slipped off the bed or to one side to easily. We kept waking up to pull the cover up over us.

Ability to park the car and that it was a perfect walking location to Main Street and all the theatres, restaurants, and shops.
- 5/5
Awesome location great breakfast older hotel but well maintained would stay again
- 3/5
Also, breakfast was understaffed. Other than that, it was fine. We have stayed here before and had a better experience.
- 3.5/5
Location, staff and breakfast all very good. Sadly i had to report a few issues in the room that needed attention at check out but they seemed very happy to know about them.

We really liked the location. It was within walking distance of the Shakespeare Festival and restaurants. We did get housekeeping to come in each day...clean towels and they made the bed. The room was older and could use an upgrade. The hot tub was broken the whole time we were there (3 nights). The water dispenser in the lobby was empty most of the time. Breakfast was so,so
- 4/5
A nice property very close to restaurants and theatres. They have 3 different buildings which means breakfast room, pool and hot tub may be across the street. Breakfast was okay but not a lot of selection.
- 4/5
I didn't realize it was a motel, not a hotel. I was expecting something much different. Yet, our room was comfortable, smaller than anticipated, but nice nonetheless. There was no ice machine close to our unit, however, we did scrape the bottom of an outdoor freezer that was once filled with ice. Other than that, it's nice. Would I stay there again, probably not - it's okay. I also think the receptionist clerk made a slip when she indicated the bill was about $30 less than what we paid through Expedia. Hmmmm.... didn't catch that at first until I thought about it later. It might be best to call the motel direct if you want to make a reservation.
- 5/5
Awesome room, hot tub was really cool, lots of accessible walking activities. Be mindful most of the stores close around 8pm but urban exploring at night here is safe and fun if you know what you're looking for
- 2/5
Rooms definitely need to be updated. The mattress in our room was terrible and needs to be replaced. Good size room and the morning breakfast was fine.

- 5/5
The stay was very nice with the exception of one member of our group who used a wheelchair had to go through the kitchen to enter the restaurant. That problem could be easily be avoided by putting another gate in front of the restaurant door in the looks area. Thank you.
- 5/5
Extremely comfortable bed and room. I was in Juliet building and it was so peaceful. Also the breakfast buffet is awesome! It was a little difficult finding the main building but was i found it everything was amazing.

Location was very near Lithia Park and creekside eateries. The complimentary breakfast and eating area were delightful. Decor is a few decades old but ok.

The Bard's Inn is a very clean, comfortable and convenient stay in Ashland. It is a short walk away from lots of restaurants and shops as well as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters. The staff was very accommodating -- I was able to get in my room early and arrange housekeeping around my schedule. The breakfast and pool are great.
- 5/5
Perfect location! You can park your car , walk all over Ashland. Walk to theatre.
- 4/5
Parking was excellent, breakfast was pretty good, but not great, the room was clean and OK but the whole property really needs to be renovated.
- 3/5
The reason for the lower rating was cleanliness of the room itself. When we arrived, I went to wash my hands and there was dental floss on the counter. At one point I dropped my glasses off the nightstand and when I went fishing for them under the edge of the bed, I found someone's lost earbud case. Finally, the plate that attaches the lighting fixture above the table near the window to the ceiling was dangling on the chain. These conditions aren't acceptable and were reported. Front desk staff was apologetic and assured prompt attention.
- 5/5
The staff was excellent! Room was nice and the breakfast was great.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Breakfast was mote than i expected- all the staff were very friendly and courteous.
- 4/5
My stay was excellent on all points, until I went to check out and found a cockroach in the bathroom. When I returned the key to the front desk I reported the cockroach finding and the clerk assured me they’d look into it.
- 4/5
Fine stay. Food was as expected for an included hotel breakfast. Facilities are a bit dated. But clean enough.
- 3/5
The chairs are cushioned and low to the ground and you sink, making the table come up to your chest so you can't get any work done in your room. At 6:50 a.m. the neighbor turned on the fan in the bathroom and it rattled the wall loudly for a half hour. This might be particular to the one room.
- 5/5
Nice room, good location. Was in separate building from the breakfast room and with road construction it made it complicated but it's not the hotel's fault. Other than that, it was excellent!
- 3/5
WiFi was horrible. No excuse for this. This isnt 1998.
- 5/5
The parking was fine - the breakfast left a little to be desired.
- 5/5
Charming place at a good price and so close to downtown! Could be improved with more lighting (the room and bathroom vanity areas were dimly lit) and a better mini fridge with a proper freezer compartment. Otherwise, great!
- 5/5
Conveniently located to downtown.
- 3/5
Good room in a pinch! We enjoyed the hot tub and the place was quiet. I was disappointed that there was not a coffee maker in the room. Also breakfast and coffee did not start until 7, which is unfortunate when we had to leave by 6:45am. Overall a good stay!
- 4/5
the coffee and such was under the sink, it would of helped for it to be out to be able to see I had that in my room. front office gal was so good. very professional yet very helpful. will be back
- 5/5
Nice motel and within reasonable walking distance to Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Staff was helpful and breakfast ok for motel fare.
- 5/5
We brought our dog and got a pet friendly room. It wasnt stinky or anything which is a plus. Very nice location.
- 4/5
Breakfast was good and having an EV Charger saved us time.
- 3/5
Breakfast was not great. Bananas were old and splitting open. Powdered eggs were tasteless.
- 4/5
The room in the main building was quiet, small but comfortable, and equipped with all the basic amenities. An older and heavily used hotel that is a bit tired, the Bard's Inn provides acceptable and much more affordable accommodations conveniently within easy walking distance to downtown Ashland. All the usual Best Western amenities are--sort of--available. At the Expedia rate, we were content with our stay.
- 5/5
I’ve stayed at the Bard a number of times and would choose it again in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
food good parking good
- 4/5
Absolutely great experience except uneven mattresses
- 3/5
The price includes breakfast that goes beyond continental. It included sausage, eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, plus the usual suspects. Sunday had fresh fruit, but Monday did not.
- 4/5
The pros: Friendly staff. Decent hot breakfast. Walkable location to shops and restaurants. The downsides: 1) the place has multiple buildings (our room was across the street), so it's a tad inconvenient to go to the lobby and breakfast lounge when you're in a separate complex. (2) The room is quaint but some may consider it slightly outdated. Bottom line - As a family, we wouldn't mind staying here again.
- 3/5
Property was just about adequate. We had to request a move to the renovated rooms after initially being assigned one of the older rooms. The renovated room was better but not by a whole lot.
- 5/5
Very convenient to walk to town. Larger room than most hotels. Decent breakfast. Reasonably priced.
- 5/5
easy parking. close to restaurants. short uphill walk to theater. good hot breakfast included. room clean, good quality coffee maker and coffee, hair dryer, plenty of towels and hot water. Excellent for this price point, I've been a multiple return customer for years.
- 5/5
This is our favorite place to stay in Ashland. The location makes downtown restaurants, theaters and shops easily within walking distance. It is safe, has ample parking, the breakfast is very good and is always clean. I can highly recommend this place!
- 5/5
Extremely friendly and helpful staff!
- 3/5
Location is the only good thing I can say. Overpriced, dated, dirty room, inconvenient... Not much to say, yet backed by BW... Not again.
- 5/5
What a great view for breakfast! The room was spacious, well-stocked and very clean. Staff was super kind and even funny.
- 3/5
There were a lot of different buildings so maybe some were different but my room was dark and depressing.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay to walk to OSF.
- 4/5
Great location! Very walkable
- 3/5
Heater roared all night. Beds were adequate. Weirdly there was a mini fridge but no microwave. "kid" who checked us in def was not into his job, didn't really explain much of anything. The woman who was on duty in the morning was much more personable. Price ok for a three star motel.
- 4/5
Over delivered for inexpensive price.
- 5/5
Quick, efficient check in and friendly front desk. Clean. Comfortable beds and pillows!
- 3/5
The first time we stayed at The Bard's Inn back in 2020 was an amazing experience. The room was extremely nice, service was great, food was great. This time, though, the room was very dingy, with minimal amenities. It looked as though nothing had been done with it in years. The food experience was less than satisfactory as well.
- 3/5
The room was in good condition and the staff was wonderful but we could hear everything in the room next to us. They were extremely loud until early hours in the morning. Both nights we stayed there.
- 5/5
We had a great time staying here. The location is perfect and the hotel and staff were amazing! We will stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice beds, clean room.
- 5/5
Clean, great location
- 5/5
Thus is our go to hotel every time we visit Ashland. It is quiet and extremely close to downtown.
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
Clean room. Nice breakfast. There is a mini fridge. Wish there was a kettle though. The wall heater in the queen bedroom was very stubborn and hard to control. But the location is fantastic.
- 5/5
fancy accommodations. Brick parking lot! German clerk! Short pleasant walk to downtown and Shakespeare.
- 5/5
Ok
- 3/5
Get into the room it was extremely cold and it took several hours for it to warm up
- 5/5
Such a cool location, aimed towards visitors to the Oregon Shakespeare festival (performed in theaters a short saunter away), but also lovely any time of year! Clean, convenient amenities, elegant furnishings and decor, and a large bathroom and large mirrors extra helpful for those dressing up for the theater. It was pouring rain when we visited, so we didn't use the outdoor pool or sauna, but the complimentary breakfast was great, and had lovely open dining areas. Note: not all buildings are connected to the breakfast room and pool, so just be aware that you may have to cross the street in your swimsuit if your room is located in an outer building. We actually preferred to be in the further building (with a cool balcony!) It's not a far walk at all, and anyways we were that much closer to Mix Bakery, Creekside Pizza, and Lithia Park. However they can often provide a room in the main building, away from the street, upon request. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and we hope to stay here again soon.
- 4/5
We took a large group of youth to OSF but were not able to all stay in the same hotel. The rooms were not that clean and the toaster and waffle iron were broken in the dining hall. The great thing was the proximity to the theater and shops. Overall, our group had a great time.
- 2/5
The room I stayed in was freezing when I arrived. It took hours for it to heat up. On top of that, there was a flying beetle bug on the drapes when I closed them - I thought, "no problem" and released it outside, but when I woke up in the morning and one fell out of my hair into the sink, and another fell out of my hair in the shower, I was pretty grossed out. When I spoke to the front desk, they were pretty nonchalant about the whole thing. It was weird to say the least.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff!
- 5/5
Great staff, location and a clean room.
- 5/5
We always stay here on the way to Portland for Thanksgiving each year. Affordable, nice staff, so close to the square.
- 4/5
The hotels is convenient location to downtown Ashland is a big plus.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
- 4/5
Everything was fine
- 4/5
Clean room, comfortable bed. Pretty small and cramped and pretty outdated. Great location and good staff.
- 5/5
The Bards Inn is lovely with each room themed after a Shakespe Play. Location is excellent just at the top of Main St. I can highly recommend this hotel
- 5/5
great choice - friendly staff, clean room, great location, easy parking, pet friendly. All in all a good stay.
- 3/5
The room air was very stale.
- 2/5
The pocket bathroom door is difficult to open. The flooring is uneven and the bed too soft.
- 5/5
Great location and nice room
- 4/5
Bedspread was awful - would not stay on. Yogurt was scarce and there was no fruit left - 8:30am Thursday.
- 5/5
Breakfast
- 5/5
Clean room. Great location. Friendly staff
- 4/5
Wasn’t offered a gold member upgrade or gift
- 5/5
My favorite place to stay in Ashland. Clean and nice rooms, affordable, PERFECT location and great staff!
- 5/5
This is our top choice for an Ashland stay for Shakespeare festival. Rooms are fine, continental breakfast good, and nice to know the pool is available if you want to swim. Easy walkability to shops and dining and Lithia Park.
- 5/5
Great location close to everything!
- 3/5
Explain that.
- 4/5
Great location!
- 5/5
The room was very clean and quiet. Loved having a balcony and watching the deer and turkeys. We were very close to all the venues and everything was a just a short walk. Shopping was close and the local restaurants were amazing. Am definitely coming back and plan on staying at the Bards Inn. Staff was amazing!
- 5/5
It was very clean, breakfast was plentiful, it was near to the theaters, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
There should be better signage for the EV chargers so non-EV's do not park there.
- 5/5
Our only concern was that we left our ipad behind when we left and it wasn't turned in to lost and found. We are still hoping it will be found.
- 4/5
Everything was great except the bed was the WORST bed I've ever slept in! Room 792. It sagged in the middle and was uneven and lumpy. Felt like it was a REALLLLLY old bed. It was also squeaky.
- 5/5
Location close to Oregon Shakespeare Festival
- 5/5
Quiet place to stay right on the edge of everything
- 3/5
Great location. Several buildings, so easier to get a reservation. Typical complimentary breakfast. Very so-so. Room was well used.
- 4/5
The duvet cover was slippery material, so the duvet bunched up and ended on the floor after trying to pull it up. A/C blew Dow on our heads. Turned it off and opened the sliding door. Otherwise, it was clean and well-stocked.
- 5/5
I always stay at the Bards Inn when in Ashland.
- 1/5
The property doesn’t have even close to enough parking spots for the amount of rooms. We were told that we would just have to try to find a spot on the streets. This meant carrying our luggage down the street up a very steep driveway and up a flight of stairs because they don’t have an elevator. Also their street parking does not have proper lighting so felt a little unsafe. Also it is not dog friendly! Again had to go down stairs, down a steep driveway with no sidewalk on the side and limited visibility for cars pulling in. The room was also very crowded. We barely had enough space for a 10 pound dog!
- 5/5
My only complaint is, I couldn’t find any glasses or cups. That’s because they were under the sink in the bathroom. My one recommendation is for them to put up a small sign which says that that is where you can find them. Otherwise a really great stay!!!
- 5/5
Shakesperean-themed motel with noisy A/C and 90’s Home Depot-quality furnishings. Sad buffet breakfast—plastic food.
- 3/5
It was wonderful to be within walking of everything in Ashland. However, the hotel needs work. The beds were horrible, broken down, back hurts. There was not adequate shampoo and conditioner for 2 people. The room was dark and depressing, needs light paint to make the space feel bigger and lighter. Getting hot water took a long time. We'd like to stay again in the future and hope these suggestions help.
- 4/5
Nice and clean.
- 4/5
The dog wing of the hotel could use an upgrade or remodel. It's not as nice as the other buildings. Otherwise it was great!
- 3/5
Bed not comfortable and able to hear next room occupants chatting. Location is excellent for walking around Ashland and attending plays.
- 4/5
It’s a good location. The room needs a table for water burner and cups and not hidden under water sink.
- 2/5
Convenient location
- 5/5
This property is on Main Street and walkable to the historic Main St. Our room smelled like urine and I realized that I had booked a pet friendly room without knowing it. The front staff graciously upgraded us to a pet free room.
- 5/5
Comfortable
- 2/5
The location was great, close to downtown and parking was easy.
- 3/5
Staff was great! The lobby was nice, but the guest rooms in the main building are very old. It was hard to tell this from the online photos. BW bought a 60+ year old motel and did some minor updates. It was fine, but would stay here again, especially at this price point.
- 5/5
Excellent breakfast. Took my two little dogs to this hotel. Great place!! Also, nice pool and jacuzzi.
- 4/5
Convenient, great staff.
- 5/5
The Bard's Inn is comfortable and welcoming, and an easy stroll down the street to restaurants, shops and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival shows
- 5/5
Then room was clean and comfortable. The property has been very nicely maintained. Because their is no elevator, staff was very helpful and helped me with my luggage.
- 4/5
The only area I gave it a 3 is the room itself. It was definitely dated, and the balcony sliding door didn’t lock. It had a wooden dowel on the inside so someone from the outside could not open it. However, the bed was very comfortable.
- 5/5
Just returned from my 3rd stay at the Bard's Inn and it will not be the last. I absolutely love everything about this hotel. The location is prime. Very close to downtown shops and restaurants 1-3 minutes. 5 minute walk to Lithia Park. Staff is very friendly. Extremely quiet. I saw other guests but I didn't hear a peep from them the entire time from within my room. I traveled with 2 children this time around and they loved the pool and breakfast options. I've also stayed here solo and with my husband. It offers something for all travelers. I feel extremely safe and secure. The rooms are clean and as photographed. Parking is plentiful and secure. Highly recommend. Looking forward to my next stay already!
- 5/5
This was a great little find for us. Its part of the best western family and we've always had very pleasant experiences with the brand. Its very walkable. So much to see within a few blocks. Great place to stay if you're attending a show for the Shakespeare festival. Our only issue was the spiders. So many spiders, outside on the car and in our room. We only stayed one night but managed to get jump scared by spiders a few times.it wasnt a terrible experience, just a note if youve got a fear of creepy crawlies. Overall though a great stay and the complimentary morning breakfast was such a comfort.
- 3/5
There are several buildings in the Bard's Inn complex, which has one of the best locations in Ashland for enjoying the town and a short walk to the theater. Location is excellent! The building we stayed in was the London, and it was clearly a renovated older building. The room was very clean, but it had an odd odor. The mattresses were lumpy, and the AC is super loud, going on and off all night. This might be a bother if someone is a light sleeper. Also, the second bedroom had minimal air circulation and needed a television. It worked well for the two nights I was there, but I suggest focusing on freshening the air and addressing these other points. Perhaps rooms in their other buildings are somewhat better. However, I would stay again for the location.
- 5/5
Very very nice.
- 3/5
Way over priced for what it is. There are better places to stay
- 4/5
We loved the location, close to shops, parks and restaurants . Staff was friendly and our room had a nice patio.
- 4/5
This place is clean and well kept, but very basic. Think motel… parking in front, plastic-like bed covers, very loud window a/c unit, but at least it worked well! Ashland rooms are expensive for what you get!
- 5/5
Great location.
- 4/5
This is our second time staying here and both times have been great. Friendly staff and clean spacious rooms. It’s just a few minutes walk from several restaurants and if you’re here for the Shakespeare Festival, just a 6-8 minute walk to the theaters.
- 4/5
close to OSFA
- 4/5
Bard is convenient to downtown restaurants and theater. Staff was great. Only issue was water tap in our room was reversed. Plumbers need to do better!
- 5/5
Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Can’t beat the location for walking to downtown, Lithia Park, shops, restaurants and, of course, the theaters. They even had an ev charger for our car, but after we charged it, we parked it and didn’t drive for the next 3 days.
- 4/5
It’s an older hotel that has been nicely maintained. Beds were comfortable and the air worked well to keep us cool. We spent an afternoon in the pool and hot tub soaking our bones! The location was fantastic! Very safe feeling area within close proximity (walking distance) to Lithia Park and all of the cute shops and restaurants downtown.
- 3/5
Very expensive for a smelly (musty) room with a lumpy bed and a comforter with insides that fell to the bottom of the bed. I would choose a different place to stay.
- 5/5
The rooms are good with usual amenities. Two comfortable armchairs, good lighting, Easy parking and walkable to OSF, restaurants and shops. And free EV charger.
- 5/5
My go to inn in Ashland. Walking distance to everything. Clean, great staff.
- 5/5
perfect location
- 3/5
Pretty basic and dated accomodations. Kid friendly which means the hot tub gets suspicious and you might be treated to...youthful exuberance. Honestly, I'd pass for the next trip
- 4/5
One can't beat the location to downtown and the theater. Just remember though, you're not staying there for the breakfast!
- 3/5
Room was not vacuum . Talked to management about this when checking out. They listened to complaints and apologized . Told me there was new help and would talk to house keeping manager. Staff was great when we checked in and out. very walkable to OSF to see the plays.
- 4/5
Dated facilities but very nice pet friendly
- 4/5
Room was fine. Location is the best
- 5/5
Working walking distance of LIthia Park, shops and restaurants. Clean, comfortable room
- 5/5
very clean and comfortable and well-located
- 5/5
Very helpful people at front desk.
- 5/5
Great location. Very clean. Good condition
- 4/5
Great location, clean and quiet.
- 5/5
From the easy check-in process to the personalized maid/cleaning service to the complimentary breakfast that was surprisingly good and had many choices for us, The Bard’s Inn was the perfect lodging place for our return to Ashland after a long absence. We will definitely book a room again this fall when we plan to return for the rest of the plays OSF will offer. Thanks for a truly pleasant stay!
- 4/5
Great location within easy walking distance of all restaurants and theaters in downtown Ashland.
- 4/5
Some wear and tea in the room.
- 5/5
Charming. Very clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff. Woke to ants in our trash, but they were quick to address it. Walking distance to good food
- 3/5
The place is in a great location. But rooms are outdated and very small. Light fixture was coming out of the ceiling and the sink wasn't draining.
- 5/5
Very centrally located to the town and good restaurants
- 3/5
Great location within easy walking to downtown but right on a busy intersection. Things a little rough around the edges...untrimmed baseboards, damaged window coverings, just not well kept up. Staff was nice, parking was easy, overall, the room was clean.

Very old and outdated. Furniture from the 60s and it smelled like wet dogs. They have 10 channels on the TV.

Check in was easy. We were able to change to a room on the first floor to make for easier access.

We were really excited to stay at this property for a fun weekend in downtown Ashland. Unfortunately, upon checking in late at night we found bedbugs. We immediately let the front desk know and they did return our money, but we had to find a different hotel at 1 AM in the morning, which cost us an additional $200 for the last minute booking. It also meant that we were no longer in downtown Ashland so we were all the way across town and had to pay for Uber to get back-and-forth. We did contact the owner/manager to let him know that we did want some sort of compensation, but unfortunately, he tried to argue the fact that we had even had bedbugs, even though we had taken pictures and shown staff, This was super inconvenient not only do we have to pack all of our items up at 1 AM in the morning and stay at a much more expensive hotel last minute, but the staff didn’t seem to even care or want to do anything to compensate us for our troubles. In fact, the owner seemed bothered by the fact that we were even bringing up the Bed Bug situation. Totally unprofessional and will never recommend or stay at another one of these locations again.

Checking in went smoothly, Connor was amazing from the start. Great area. I love the continental breakfast. Will stay here again.

Nice, clean room. Walking distance to restaurants downtown Ashland.

Great property and close to many shops and dining options.

Nice place with free breakfast, friendly staff, walk to downtown.

This property needs an upgrade. However for the price and location it seems appropriate. We did not have hot water in our room, it was lukewarm. That was a deal breaker. I let the front desk know and they would investigate. The beds were pretty squishy and uncomfortable. However, I love the location and staff. And the price was reasonable.

Nice property walking distance to the Ashland Plaza. Underground parking, comfortable bed, and very quiet!

Everything was fine until I got to the included breakfast! The eggs were some kid of reconstituted looking yellow granules. Yuck!

This was such a fun quirky place to stay. They take pets - we were traveling with our cat. The entire place is themed with a renaissance theme down to the stationary. There were some dated fixtures but the room felt super homey and was very clean and comfortable. It was also very quiet. We barely heard anyone which was refreshing. You can tell that the staff members care about the property. The pool and hot tub looked inviting. The breakfast was better than we were anticipating. Fresh pancakes! Fresh eggs and sausage. Coffee, juice, milk, bagels, cereal, yogurts. It really had something for everyone. Only small downside was the bathroom. It was cold and the shower didn’t heat up all the way. We didn’t spend that much time in there … because it was the bathroom. We would totally stay again. We loved how walkable everything was. There are many dining options and shops nearby.

your listing said hotel was pet friendly but did not indicate that they would charge an additional $20 dollars for my pet

Pretty good for the price. Good location.

First it was a motel, which we were not expecting. There are several different complexes and it is hard to tell what you have booked. Second, we did not have hot water for our shower. When we called it in, we were told “yea, that happens when we are full. The whole building shares one water heater so that’s as good as it gets.” The rooms were cold and the bedding was sparse. On the positive side, location was superb and staff were friendly. But honestly there are much better options in Ashland.

Property was a little average for the price

Property is very convenient but in need of updating. The breakfast was not up to Best Western standards with no fruit on offer, not even a mouldy banana.

Good continental breakfast, nice room for the price, comfy beds, and close by downtown

Couldn't believe it was part of Best western collections

A good location minutes from town, the Bard Inn is clean and quiet.

This is the perfect place to stay in Ashland. You are just a block away from the plaza and park. The room was nothing amazing, but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast, but everything was edible and there was a good variety. Michael was one of the front office staff that was extra helpful and made our stay that much better.

Great location and nice people. The breakfast was very good and lots of it. We got upgraded for free and really liked our room.

The people who work here are super nice and helpful!

We’ve stayed at this property many times. Both on our own and when I used to bring student groups to the Shakespeare festival. The rooms closest to the office, are old and looking worn out. It’s also not as quiet and roomy as the rooms across the street on the other two parts of the property. The tv didn’t work properly. It is supposed to allow for sharing picture from your cell phone but it did not work.

Perfect location in town yet quiet. The room was very clean but could use more lighting for those who are sight impaired. Would stay here again!
