Reviews
The hotel is praised for its convenient location in downtown Asheville, with many attractions and amenities within walking distance. However, the reviews are mixed regarding the cleanliness and condition of the rooms, with some guests reporting issues such as dirty showers, broken fixtures, and outdated decor. The staff is generally described as friendly and helpful, but some guests had negative experiences with unresponsive or rude front desk employees.

The room was nice, the bed was comfortable but the AC was not working which made sleep impossible.
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Renaissance. The staff wwere incredibly nice and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of linens in the bathroom. The location was fantastic with only about a 10 minute walk to plenty of options for bars and restaurants. I will definitely stay again the next time in Asheville.
- 3/5
Great help
- 4/5
While a little worse for wear, we had a pretty nice day. The location and staff are both excellent. The hotel needs an update and the rooms need to be brightened up. Super dark with poor lighting. Again, excellent staff!
- 1/5
Also, be ready to feel that you are a potential criminal since a damage deposit will be requested. If you like all of this, go ahead and book this place.
- 3.5/5
Convenient location - nowhere is far in downtown Asheville. No safe in the room to store valuables. Decor was tired - needs a refurbishment. Staff knowledge of location and things to do in the area was poor.
- 5/5
Great location! They have a great bar with a great outside area.
- 5/5
Fantastic stay and great food!
- 4.5/5
Location and cleanliness Elevators were extremely slow
- 4/5
Hotel is great, skiing with staff. However, they’re elevators were horrible. Have to wait 5-10 min for 1 of 4 elevators to reach you. Waste of time, but otherwise great hotel
- 4.5/5
Jay in Valet was exceptional. The bartender on Thursday night was on something.
- 5/5
Property was really clean and well maintained.
- 4/5
The property is in need of a facelift. There are clearly areas that need a bit of maintenance. But I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, large with lots of room. Staff was not stellar, but the restaurant crew was perfect. No issues.
- 3/5
Room was in need of repairs, shower spigot/faucet pulled away from the shower by about 1/2" allowing water to run back into the wall. Peeling paint and i dont think the fan was functional in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Great service…superb location!!!!
- 3/5
The only thing great about this hotel is the location, within easy walking distance to downtown Asheville. Otherwise, there is NO POOL, I found strange hairs on the shower of the bathroom when I checked in, the toilet seat broke twice during normal use (even after calling the front desk to get it fixed the first time), I found someone else’s dirty socks in my room upon check in, when the windows fogged I could tell they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, when I tried to eat breakfast in the restaurant I was almost shooed away for no other reason than I didn’t have a voucher although I was willing to pay with a card or charge to my room. The bed was terrible and sunken. I would never choose to stay here again. Nonetheless, some of the staff were kind and friendly.
- 4/5
Clean and friendly The AC in room 710 was so loud. I didn’t sleep because of this.
- 5/5
Great location; comfortable rooms, everything very clean, great staff Breakfast wasn’t anything special- could have more bakery options. AC in the room was a little bit loud
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel to stay in for a couple of nights. Reasonable price, walking distance to downtown. Our only complaint was that there’s no coffee available until 7 on the weekends and 6:30 weekdays. We’re early risers and it would be great if coffee were available in the lobby early. It’s quite a drive to get it outside of the hotel and the coffee shops nearby weren’t open early either. Aside from that, we had a wonderful stay.
- 4/5
The room was very comfortable. A magnified mirror in the bathroom would be so appreciated. It’s time to redo the lobby to combine check-in with an inviting lounge with some good bar food. This could also include your breakfast area. Get a designer in to accomplish this. Your staff are woefully uninformed about regional parking and price.
- 5/5
We came to see a performer play. The hotel was clean, bed comfy, and the staff were lovely. Nico, serving at the bar was an absolute delight. I encourage anyone coming in after a day out to stop by for a delicious beverage and excellent company. He gave us plenty of excellent advice for our stay.
- 5/5
Everything except Booking .com has a very bad customer service . Hotel was great but bookin.com do not have a great service Booking .com has a very bad customer service
- 5/5
Would def stay again!!
- 5/5
Good stay, within walking distance of the arts district. Bed were nice, plenty of towels etc. Bartender was pleasant to chat with.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff and clean room
- 4/5
It’s a large property so it always took awhile to get from the parking lot to the room. Thankfully there are four elevators from the lobby so we usually didn’t have to wait long for one. Parking was expensive and we were extremely disappointed that the pool was closed. The room had two small fridges but no microwave or safe. There was water available in the lobby and in the gym which was very nice in a hot climate.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean and staff very helpful, breakfast was great.
- 4/5
Comfortable and clean, comfy beds and pillows. Definitely we will return. Well located too.
- 4/5
In a town as small as Asheville, it's hard for a hotel downtown to be inconveniently located. This one is minutes from all the action. The room is above average as are the hotel amenities (incl the omelet station at the breakfast buffet). Parking is reasonably priced. Staff are pleasant yet professional. Overall, would stay again.
- 4/5
Our room was nice but it definitely had some issues. First off, our toilet seat lid wasn’t even attached and the toilet itself was very low and needed to be reseated on the toilet ring. It rocked. The light switch needed to be replaced and some of the wall paper was starting to peel. The elevators also seemed haunted. They took forever and only 2 out of 4 seem to be in constant operation. They would stop on random floors and no one would be there. Creepy. All in all, it’s was close to the venue we were going to and everything was in walking distance which was great! I would stay here again but I would park elsewhere and walk over.
- 3/5
Room was clean but exhaust fan in bathroom was not working, bath tub was slippery, bathroom sink was having crack in it and water inside the sink was taking longer to drain.
- 2/5
No pool fixed , door handle didn't work properly, no fan in bathroom, bathtub didn't drain good, toilet flush handle was not working good either, no problem with the staff or room cleaning, this hotel needs some upgrades
- 3/5
The hotel is in a great location however it is very dated and needs to be updated. The rooms are very old and worn and it’s age is showing poorly.
- 5/5
Great location, easy walk to all the food, art and drinks in downtown. Staff was excellent & offered great recommendations for dining.
- 5/5
Super clean and VERY comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice amenities and snack bar was great for the kids.
- 2/5
Room had a large gross stain… the chair was
- 3.5/5
Fortunately there is a parking garage adjacent to the hotel so I did not have to suffer the expense of valet parking.
- 3.5/5
Learning at check-in that I would be charged $75 for any incidental's and that it may take a week to recover if no charges incurred. Fortunately there is a parking garage adjacent to the hotel so I did not have to suffer the expense of valet parking.
- 5/5
Room was clean & cozy! Staff was very helpful. Only complaint is having to pay for parking on the property.
- 2/5
The elevator was broken and there was a conference. There was a line to check in and a line of people that had complaints at the front desk. We took the stairs because of the elevator (only one working for the whole building) from the 6th floor and made it to the bottom to find a sign that said 'for future notice use the stairs on the opposite side of the building'. The second day was better but the first day was one I wouldn't want to repeat.
- 5/5
Such a great hotel! We were able to walk to almost all of downtown from the hotel! Breakfast was a complimentary buffet with an omelette station and everything was delicious, staff were all so nice and friendly. Hotel was very clean and looks to have been recently updated. Valet is available, but we didn’t use it. Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
It’s a good location for downtown, and most of the staff seemed nice. We called one morning asking for help with the WiFi without creating a Marriott account, and they told us to use the guest WiFi and finished with “I don’t know what to tell you”. I also didn’t realize it would be the barn style doors for the bathroom. That’s actually something I hate, so if you’re going with others and don’t plan on using the room alone, maybe take that into consideration. I’m also going to gripe about having to pay $25/night for parking, but that’s just because I think all costs associated with staying at a hotel should be included within the nightly cost. Other than that, great location, it seemed clean, and the lobby was nice.
- 5/5
The Asheville Renaissance Hotel provided a great place to explore Asheville on foot. The upper floor views of the city and mountains beyond were amazing and restful. Our full buffet breakfast, included with our room booking, was delicious and plentiful and the staff very attentive. We had a misunderstanding about parking that was quickly resolved. We hope to return.
- 4.5/5
Superb
- 5/5
Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff
- 5/5
Room was clean and very nice. Parking was easy. We walked to a concert at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center. Would definitely stay again for downtown Asheville visits/events.
- 5/5
Very clean room, friendly and professional staff!
- 4/5
Breakfast was awesome
- 3/5
Nice place, great location. Mattress needs to be replaced, and some updating would be nice. It okay!
- 4/5
Very helpful and polite staff. Comfortable bed, spacious room, nice mountain views. Walkable to Downtown area. The breakfast was pretty gross though. Shower not very hot. Expensive self-parking costs.
- 5/5
Staff was nice and accommodating when I needed to change rooms. Their burgers and fries were amazing.
- 5/5
Clean room with a comfy bed and a view of the city. Check In was smooth with a friendly reception. The hotel itself was also within walking distance to shops and restaurants, which is a big plus. The included breakfast was just a continental thing, so we went elsewhere.
- 5/5
Staff and facilities are wonderful
- 5/5
Give yourself a little extra time during peak elevator hours. You don't want to be late for anything
- 3.5/5
Good
- 3/5
Great hotel but the amount of homeless and drugged out people walking around the property will make me probably not choose this property again or for that matter, downtown Asheville in general. Did not see a police officer anywhere near this property or within walking distance. Too bad- the hotel was really nice.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff and clean place
- 5/5
Easy walking distance to all the action.
- 5/5
Great hotel and friendly staff. The location was in walking distance to attractions.
- 5/5
Only have a buffet option, not our choice.
- 5/5
Very clean room. Basic breakfast buffet is $20 a person, would not recommend. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 1.5/5
Poor
- 5/5
Valet at night was on point, daytime not so much
- 1/5
We booked a top floor room for our stay so that we could over look the city ....big mistake. Our room was the most neglected room I've ever stayed in. This was shocking as from the outside and the lobby were beautiful! The only good thing about our stay was the bartender, Nikko. Very solid guy.
- 5/5
Great breakfast buffet, warm staff, comfy beds!
- 5/5
Hotel was in a nice area of town close to multiple dining locations.
- 4/5
Hotel was nice clean and staff were very helpful. down side to your hotel is no in room safes
- 5/5
Excellent stay and reasonable rate.
- 3/5
This would have been good overall, except our AC unit was extremely loud and rattled, keeping us up at night. The property is definitely showing its age and could use some refurbishing, but it was priced well.
- 5/5
Hotel was beautiful and the staff was very helpful
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Updated decor, lobby bar, restauran. The thing that was not expected, is the indoor pool in hot tub were under construction during our stay.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet room. Helpful desk staff and valet.
- 5/5
Parking is super easy. The hotel staff was excellent with food suggestions.
- 5/5
People were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Close to everything was a great stay
- 5/5
Everything was perfect. The cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, the location, the delicious food at the Writer's Bistro. We felt safe and comfortable. The rooms were very nice and the beds were comfy. The patio was so relaxing. This is a beautiful, spacious, well decorated hotel and we enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend this hotel. 5 out of 5 stars. Nothing, everything was great

Nice breakfast!
- 5/5
Great location. Parking was easy and the staff were very friendly.

The view from the 10th floor was great. The breakfast and service in the morning was outstanding! The mattress was awful, we could not sleep.

Very good
- 5/5
Loved this hotel. Everything was amazing.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and the staff were outstanding!
- 4/5
Bathroom was in disrepair with some water damage and scratches on the counter top. But that didn’t ruin the visit.
- 5/5
Well appointed and the best staff!!
- 5/5
Our second time staying here and absolutely loved it. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Jane at checkout was great. Property is immaculate.
- 5/5
Stay was was amazing and exceeded our expectations. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Kind staff clean room

Great location clean and quiet
- 5/5
Very nice.

The AC was making a funny noise.
- 5/5
Everything was great! The AC was making a funny noise.
- 5/5
Second time staying there over the same weekend for the BMFS show. Excellent hotel, great service, perfect location to walk to everything in town. Highly recommend. Rob at the front desk was a great host at check in. Very personable and knowledgeable. Thanks for a lovely stay. I will return next time I am in Asheville.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff was very nice. The front desk made several recommendations for fun stops on our night out. And confirmed that our dinner selection was excellent. The location is great as the hotel is right behind the main drag so everything is walkable.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet. Excellent breakfast. We requested additional bedding and it was brought to us promptly.
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, nice and clean room. Great location.
- 1/5
The hotel is extremely outdated and unclean. The pool and hot tub were closed. I was charged for parking. I will never stay at the Renaissance Asheville again.
- 5/5
This is our go to accommodation whenever we visit Asheville. Rooms are spotless, the staff are fantastic and it’s a short walk to restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues. We get to town and our car never leaves the gated lot.
- 5/5
Updated and very clean Gift shop very limited
- 5/5
Easy check-in! The room was very clean, with a nice view of the city, and the walk to Harrah’s Cherokee Center–Asheville was super easy. We’ll definitely stay here again for the next Billy Strings concert!
- 5/5
The room was perfect. Very clean and super comfy beds. Location was ideal for the concert we were in town for as the venue was only a couple of blocks away. The only thing I had a problem with was having to pay for public parking which was $25.00 a night. Parking fees should be discounted or included with your stay.
- 5/5
Conveniently located. Walkable to Harrahs Cherokee Center for concerts. Easy, reasonably priced parking. Large room, comfortable bed and quiet.
- 5/5
yes
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable
- 3/5
The hotel is lovely, the room was nice too. The room is rather cold this time of year, considering that a whole wall is window that isn't double paned. This wouldn't be a problem if the heater didn't have loud clanking noises whenever the heat is turned on. It kept us up, so we had to leave the heat off. Also, the restaurant looks like a nice sit down restaurant, but it turned out to be a normal Continental breakfast. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I was expecting something different from the look.
- 3/5
Friendly staff. Good location. Pool was closed with no notice.
- 1/5
Tried contacting the hotel multiple times via phone to get the reservation updated but no one answered.
- 5/5
Everything was great.
- 4/5
Wry nice staff, comfortable beds. I would stay again.
- 5/5
We stayed here for our first time in Asheville and it was great! The room was nice & clean. The bed was amazing along with the sheets/pillows. We had a nice decent view. Overall amazing! We would definitely pick this hotel again! Let me not forget the complimentary shampoo/conditioner and body wash-smelled great. The only thing that’s a bummer is the pay to park. We paid $25 which is not noted when reserving a room. It should be something they mention. Who wants to pay parking when renting a hotel. Last minute charge but overall great stay.
- 5/5
everything 10/10! Love this place! Excellent location and great value!
- 4/5
Clean and convenient to downtown. Pet friendly. Restaurant on site.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Lovely restaurant and lobby.
- 4/5
Room & bathroom was clean
- 3/5
Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. The windows were covered in condensation and ice and the carpet was wet. The front desk staff was not the friendliest however the lady in the restaurant was very kind. I would give this Marriott property a MEH…..
- 5/5
Great stay
- 1/5
• The front door to our room would not close properly, which was both inconvenient and concerning from a safety standpoint. • The bathroom sink did not drain properly throughout our stay. • Although the air conditioning technically worked, the circulation of air was not functioning properly, causing the room to feel uncomfortable and stagnant. • The room itself felt old, worn, and outdated, which did not align with the quality or standards we expect from a Renaissance property. • Prior to our stay, we specifically requested a king bed, yet we were placed in a double room. When we asked if a king room was available, we were told the hotel was fully booked, despite our advance request. • On our checkout day, housekeeping loudly banged on our door at 9:30 a.m., even though checkout was not until 11:00 a.m. After informing them we had not checked out, they proceeded to clean the neighboring room in an extremely loud and disruptive manner. Even after asking them to please keep the noise down since we were still sleeping, the disturbance continued. Overall, the lack of attention to room condition, guest comfort, and basic courtesy significantly impacted our stay. This experience fell well below the standards we associate with the Renaissance brand.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, conveniently located in downtown Asheville, room was quite and comfortable.
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
The room was lovely with an amazing view!
- 4/5
While the restaurant’s breakfast buffet looked lovely, it would be great if an a la carte option could be provided for those who want a simple, grab and go item in the morning.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable. Great view. Convenient downtown location.
- 4/5
Everything was great except the temperature in the room. It was overly hot and the thermostat didn’t seem to work. And this is when it was about 35 degrees outside at night. Location was fantastic.
- 5/5
Clean Room, Staff
- 5/5
The room is very clean
- 5/5
Great hotel! Good customer service!
- 4/5
Great service! Kind housekeeping staff.
- 4/5
Also your breakfast. Why a one time charge? All I wanted was a small breakfast, perhaps a banana, oatmeal and coffee, but was told I needed to pay $19 for a full breakfast. Haha. Really? I think your hotel would get a lot more breakfast business if you just sold items individually.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff, nice rooms.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and great location
- 5/5
The room was very nice and clean. The front desk staff was so friendly.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious rooms, large windows with lots of sunlight, easy walk to downtown, nice bar and lobby seating. Fresh fruit, eggs, waffles, cereal, breads, sausage, bacon for breakfast. Very nice hotel.
- 4/5
Staff courteous
- 5/5
Clean, good parking
- 5/5
Great Location. Friendly staff. Bar tender noticed an issue with a guy and ask him to leave.
- 5/5
Great stay! Walkable to all downtown, safe and spotless!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and a great location.
- 5/5
Great location and space for enjoying Asheville.
- 4/5
Our room was clean. The staff was super lovely and helpful giving recommendations for food and such. The best thing about this hotel is the location. We took our car out the first day and I wish we hadn’t. We ended up walking literally every else we wanted for the weekend. Our room was perfect for what we needed but definitely a bit smaller than a lot of other hotels I’ve stayed at.
- 4/5
We thought they had a pool. That was a huge disappointment for the kids. Otherwise, the stay was nice.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel for Asheville. It's not huge, clean, friendly, parking is easy and downtown is walkable.
- 3/5
All the staff here seemed completely put upon to do their jobs. The front desk people were often not around, the person who checked me in was curt, just handed my keys, and didn't greet. I went to the restaurant a couple of times--each time it was just one person working who rarely came to the table. They all seemed annoyed to be working. My hotel room had stuffing coming out of the chair. There is no printing/business station, so if you need to print you have to email it to the front desk and wait for them to print, which is inconvenient. Parking is 25 a day but there is a lot nearby where you can park free on weekends. For the money, this hotel isn't worth it, to be honest.
- 5/5
Super nice property, location was great and the employees were very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great rooms and very clean hotel with accommodating staff. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
While only there for one night, we had a great stay!
- 5/5
Folks are incredibly friendly and the rooms very comfortable and clean Great value
- 5/5
Chill place. No issues. Dog friendly and easy access to downtown restaurants.
- 1/5
Sink and shower drains both backed up; obvious signs of significant wear and tear everywhere; room smelled like cigarette smoke; $25 self park fee exhorbitant given the amount of surface parking.
- 1/5
Worst customer service ever guy behind counter was mean rude and not accommodating or helpful . Lied to me
- 4/5
We were put into a room that was not cleaned, beds unmade. They moved our room, but we had to move our belongings
- 5/5
No complaints
- 2/5
Paying to park in their lot was an unwelcomed surprise. Waiting for the desk manager to stop complaining to staff about other guests while I stood there waiting for help was terrible. Customer service was lacking and bad attitudes are not ok for what I paid to stay.
- 5/5
I only really marked down a category because the place has a somewhat dated but sophisticated feel to it (spacious rooms with lovely views with ‘popcorn style ceilings’) … Generous room service was nice (lots of towels) and even fun to just people-watch in the grand lobby and listen to the front-desk staff accommodate just about every customer; this place goes above & beyond! Highly recommend a stay here while in downtown Asheville! Robert
- 5/5
Great hotel stay with friendly helpful staff and clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. And it’s walkable to the main streets of downtown Asheville which makes it an ideal hotel to stay at. It’s location can’t be beat.
- 5/5
My husband and I was there for our 1st honeymoon and 3rd anniversary because wasn't able to go have one due death and illness in both sides of our families. We had such a a wonderful and beautiful experience thay we could ever hope for!! We will be returning soon. Everyone at the hotel was super nice, genuine, and gracious to us while we were there. I would dare give this experience less than a five. The should have ten stars! If no one else will, my husband and I sure will!! Overall great experience overall! Thank you all so much for making our extra wonderful and beautiful one! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We can't wait to come back and explore and experience more of this wonderful city❤️❤️
- 5/5
My husband & I love mostly all Renaissance hotels, but the Asheville location is especially nice!
- 5/5
Room was clean! Beds were great
- 5/5
This hotel was very beautiful
- 5/5
Nice location
- 1/5
No pool, no fireworks.
- 5/5
Great Hotel!
- 4/5
This property is well beyond needing a remodel, it should probably be torn down. This is because it is so functionally obsolete that it would be more economical to replace the existing structure. While clean and comfortable, it just cannot get away from the fact it can’t compete with modern properties. It is an abomination that they charge premium rates for a run down obsolete property without a working pool or decent bar or restaurant. Anyone who travels knows that this place thinks it’s still in its glory days of the 1980’s. It is not. Everyone I talked with felt the same, disappointed, surprised at the price and are not coming back.
- 5/5
Staff were a "cut avove".
- 5/5
Staff was amazing
- 4/5
We liked its proximity to downtown, and the bed was very comfortable. The HVAC unit in the room was on the border of being too noisy, and the bar was lacking basic mixtures for cocktails.
- 4/5
It was really nice visiting such a cute and friendly town! The hotel is in a perfect location but it needs a big renovation especially rooms and bathrooms!
- 4/5
Not as nice as other renaissance hotels but good enough. Elevators were horribly slow, not sure if they were being worked on. This spot doesn’t use Aveda which I would expect. Very walkable to downtown.
- 2/5
The food nothing to write home about. No non pork options. Runny eggs and funny tasting hashbrowns. Mybed seemed to be broke on one side. If you sat on the side it was like squating to stand up. The ac was not keeping the room cool. The tub did not drain. I was told could do late checkout and pay an extra 10.00 per hour after 12 till 4pm. Worked great since my daughter had a track meet starting at 4. I said i would do that in the am in case anything changed. Went to do that and was told no. Not possible. Explained i was told it would not be an issue and the lady was just like sorry not happening. Overall not a normal experience from this brand. Must just be the area
- 4/5
Loved high floor
- 3/5
Honestly I read the reviews prior and was excited. I found the $25 per night fee for parking was excessive. If I am renting a room I expect parking to be included. Maybe increase your room price instead of adding extra charges. I booked a city view my room really was just overlooking their parking lot. We had to leave early Sunday morning and was told there was no coffee until 7:00 am. Staff told us to use the in room coffee machines which I find gross. Most hotels offer coffee as early as 5 or 6 am. I booked this hotel because they had a restaurant. However, the dinner menu is really a lunch menu...sandwiches. We were too tired to go outside the hotel. Food was decent though but was hoping for a real dinner menu. Overall not the quality I was hoping for. Hope they do better in the future. Would not be my choice for a hotel when in Asheville again.
- 5/5
Excellent location and wonderful beds
- 4/5
This hotel is in a great location and you can walk downtown if you'd like. The views are wonderful. We could see the mountains and the Grove Park Inn from our 11th floor window. You can they remodeled an older property because of some holdovers like an older toilet, slanting floors, etc. One elevator was down, leading to waits. But overall, a really good stay for the price. Note, you will pay for parking at this property. $30 to valet, $25 to self park. Take the breakfast if it is offered to you with your stay at a discount! It was very good and reasonable if you add it on when booking. We only paid $10.

The pool and spa were broken or closed with duration unknown. The hours of food service was poor.
- 4/5
The staff is very friendly and responsive. Carpeting in my room was dated, sliding bathroom door was off its track and one of the curtains was off its track. However, they came right away to fix the bathroom door and offered me a new room because the curtain had to come down and wouldn't be replaced that day. I also wish they had a note in the bathroom about not having to change the towels. I was only staying 2 nights and didn't need to have fresh towels. Lastly, it costs $25 per night to park your car. Seems excessive to me.

Kia h in the restaurant was an absolute pleasure to meet. We had breakfast and she was so welcoming. Hotel is nice and seems to be in the process of getting a facelift. No issues would stay again
- 5/5
Quiet and close to everything
- 5/5
Awesome location
- 4/5
This was a return trip for us exactly one year from our first stay. Booked for the location because we were in town for Billy Strings weekend! Walkable to everything including the concert venue. We were worried about how things would be considering the enormous damage to the RAD from Helene but the hotel was in great shape. A few suites were blocked off due to damage but all other amenities were available. The Writer’s Bistro was wonderful as usual. Thanks for hosting us and we’ll see you next time Billy is in town.

Quick check in. Friendly and knowledgeable of area.
- 5/5
Best hotel to stay in downtown Asheville. May not be the newest but has best views, large rooms, and indoor pool and hot tub.
- 5/5
The hotel location was fantastic and the staff was incredible
- 4/5
Front desk staff and head of house keeping were excellent to deal with. Place was nice just needs some updating.
- 5/5
Every year we stay for my birthday for the weekend and the staff always goes above and beyond.
- 3/5
We were disappointed that the pool is closed for renovations. It did not state that on the website when booking the room.
- 4/5
Great place in the heart of Asheville, the rooms and especially the bathrooms where small. The pool and hot tub where not working. Breakfast was great!
- 5/5
The stay was great and so was the view overall it was great place to stay and everything is within walking distance. However when we went to use the bathtub to take a shower there sewage backed up that came spewing out all over the tub, thankfully we were given a new room with no questions asked. Great hotel overall.
- 3/5
Property is overdue for renovations. Pool and Spa not available. Staff was exceptional.
- 1/5
Hotel restaurant is horrible for dinner, breakfast was decent. The bed we slept in was horrendous.
- 5/5
The coffee maker in room 1028 was disgusting and needs to be replaced. Otherwise our overall stay was fantastic and we will always stay at the Renaissance when we visit Asheville. The brunch was fantastic!
- 3/5
We have stayed at the Renaissance periodically over the past 20 years. My husband and I were both struck by the property’s overall condition - particularly the guest rooms. We love the location but found ourselves looking for alternatives for our next stay. Asheville has been through a rough time, but the hotel guest rooms are in dire need of an upgrade.
- 4/5
Really central location that’s walkable to restaurants and breweries! Hotel has great amenities!
- 1/5
Way too old. Really need to be renovated. Waiting line at the front desk is way too long and most of the time there is no staff there at all. Really not up to the standard of a downtown Asheville hotel.
- 5/5
Great location. The hotel was also great. Very convenient, clean and current.
- 5/5
Great property! Lots of amenities!
- 5/5
The restaurant staff for the morning breakfast were all excellent!
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Hotel couldn't change our rooms to another floor or move me to a room on the same floor. Refrigerator was warm when we checked in. Had to crank it up. It should be cold when you check in.
- 5/5
We stayed one night. The property was nice, cleaned, and accessible (via walking) to downtown. The staff were pleasant. I would stay here again.
- 3/5
I should have asked for a discount.
- 4/5
Just a 1 night stay with 2 young grandkids traveling home from week at Bald Head Island NC. In my 6 decades of family/business travel I'd rate this hotel as a low 4 out of 5. Huge cost for mediocre accommodations compared to much cheaper stays along and interstate. Oh... 2:00am charge of $25 for parking lot parking at hotel followed by trying to get you to pay $25 when you leave the next morning. Buyer beware.... much better for much less just around the corner!
- 4/5
Coffee cups were not replaced at all.
- 5/5
The staff were very accommodating and the food was great
- 5/5
Staff was polite, room was clean, convenient location.
- 2/5
and if you want some ice cream on the cake. We did not have an iron in the room, the fridge didn’t work, the hairdryer would only stayed off for 30 minutes and the coffee pot on pff botton did not work.
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful. Walking distance to downtown. Will stay here again
- 5/5
Staff was nice and efficient. Room was very clean and spacious. No complaints on my end!
- 3/5
The staff was very friendly, the hotel room had beautiful views and it’s very walkable to amenities.
- 5/5
Close to tourist areas.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly. Loved that it had a laundry facility. Close to popular places in the area. Hotel was clean. Room service was exceptional. Highly recommend this place. Will come back.
- 5/5
Convenient to downtown
- 5/5
Great service and cleanliness. Was there for a job event and everything was perfect!
- 5/5
The piil was out.
- 5/5
Great location! Was able to walk to plenty of restaurants and activities. The pool was out of service, which was the only negative.
- 4/5
Aging a bit
- 5/5
Terrific location...needs an update
- 5/5
Good value
- 5/5
Clean room, great service - A/C unit was really loud... otherwise GRAET stay!!
- 1/5
I did not sleep because I was so grossed out by the lack of cleanliness. Upon arrival, the room smelled strongly like feet. When I showered this morning, there was a used wash cloth with pubic hair in the shower, leading me to believe that the room had not been cleaned after the last guest. Overall, very uncomfortable night.
- 3/5
Pretty solid place, only downside is the walls are paper thin. Doesn't work well when bad parents let their bad kids scream and slam stuff early in the morning. Also, the toilets would randomly flush, it was odd.
- 5/5
Was awesome!
- 3/5
As a local who was staying here business while living in charlotte for a bit, i was excited about my stay. However, i found that the room was in suprisingly bad condition! I had a huge divot in the mattress where others had worn it down when sleeping, the curtians had fallen off track and didnt close fully, and there we many places where thw furniture had been scratches and paintes over resulting in a very worn out look. I had assuned this property would be in vetter shape and was somewhat disappointed by my stay.
- 4/5
Breakfast buffet was good nothing real fancy but enough to have coffee and a bite to eat.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 2/5
I booked this property for the start of summer vacation. The pool and hot tub was closed, plaster falling off the ceiling in my room. A/C noisy and didn’t work well. When I called the desk or house keeping no answer. No wash clothes. Coffee horrible. No microwave. Good location. Will not recommend.
- 4/5
This is a great conference hotel, and is a very convenient spot to stay to walk into downtown Asheville. Although there was a large conference going on while we were there, I think the hotel could pay more attention to their upkeep and cleaning of common areas.
- 4/5
Very nice property. Wish the AC would have been quieter
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay while in Asheville, NC - for all the good reasons - will definitely recommend to all and stay here again if revisiting! Thank you for the good courteous service!
- 4/5
Pets and I was awoken early one morning from a dog barking.
- 5/5
Asked for early check in and they were able to accommodate. That was nice
- 3/5
Was not very clean. It looked like someone had stuck pubic hair to the ceiling above the shower. The USB port in my lamp didn’t work but the hotel switched it out for me. The floor lamp didn’t work either but I didn’t feel like contacting the front desk a second time. Showtime didn’t work in the room. Very limited tv channels. There was no desk in the room either. The pillows were very flat. Shower liner didn’t look very clean.
- 3/5
Dated. Needs a refresh.
- 3/5
It was fine
- 3/5
Average older hotel. Lack of communication from staff. No notice of window washing . Fire alarm went off. Staff was ok… just ok
- 4/5
Convenient location for downtown Asheville
- 5/5
Always a wonderful place to stay!
- 2/5
At check in I was asked if I still wanted the king room or if I would take two doubles. When accessing room I had been given queen bed. It was not talked about at check in
- 5/5
Many amenities and attractions within walking distance.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. We had booked a high level room with a view, unfortunately they did not have any available at check. We ended with a city view in the third floor.
- 5/5
we had a blast! breweries, food, shopping...so much fun!
- 4/5
Room was recently renovated, except the bathroom, which had old style tub/shower and toilet. Shower water valve handle broken when we arrived, but the maintenance man came promptly and fixed it.
- 5/5
I had a very short one-night stay after attending a concert my Metric at The Orange Peel. Excellent experience.
- 3/5
I stayed at this hotel during a conference recently, and the conference was also hosted at the hotel. There were probably more people here than usual because of that, but I was really surprised by persistent elevator issues that lead to doors not closing, or being brought to the wrong levels. There was a beep in our hotel room that never stopped, and the AC was really loud all night long. Honestly, the hotel was in a very walkable area that was convenient to the best of Asheville. It just seemed a little dated, and the elevators were scary. Maybe this is less of a problem when there aren't ~500 people there.
- 4/5
Just one concern why’s the parking not free for guests? Cheapest hotels have free parking. 😞
- 5/5
Loved it and highly recommend. The restaurant on the main floor has a fantastic buffet breakfast and made to order omelettes.
- 5/5
We used restaurant more than expected. B’fast choices were very good—menu or buffet options. Dinner options oriented toward salads and sandwiches with limited entree choices. No room service offered was a minus; you could do your own takeout and bring it up to your room.
- 5/5
Our first room was not cleaned well, we went downstairs and they immediately got us in another room. They had great live music and guest mingling. The bar in the lobby was very fun.
- 5/5
Gathering as a group once a year my friends and I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else. The location is perfect for walking to all of our favorite spots.
- 5/5
After reading a couple negative reviews about the condition of the property, our party was wary. Upon arrival, expectations were exceeded and we continue to call into question the legitimacy of other reviews. Many would state that the property was a poor attempt to upscale a dated hotel. We completely disagreed. We truly enjoyed the cleanliness of our room. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The location of the hotel was great. We walked almost everywhere during the duration of our stay including restaurants, shops, and the entirety of the downtown area. If we return to Asheville, we will be sure to stay at the Renaissance hotel again. Comparing the price at the time of our stay to other hotels in the area, this was definitely the best value. Highly recommend this hotel for your next trip to Asheville!
- 4/5
The indoor pool was closed
- 3/5
The hotel itself is very nice, clean and modern! The restaurant was good for dinner and the staff was very friendly. Hotel convenience store was great, lots of awesome snack and drink options and credit card self-checkout was great! Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the state of the room accomodations. The handle on the faucet leaked all over the counter when using the sink, the shower water pressure was so strong it actually hurt and would spray all over the bathroom, not relaxing at all. Lastly, the TV was so dark you could barely even see what you were trying to watch. There were no settings to adjust brightness or anything, just seemed like the TV was super old and it was disappointing we couldn't really enjoy watching anything during our stay it was so dark and difficult to see the picture.
- 5/5
Downtown Asheville is very walkable. Hilly for those of you with mobility problems. Great restaurants and local shops.
- 5/5
Perfect location for downtown Asheville experience.
- 5/5
We arrived early hoping to just park and check in later, and Sandy immediately went to work finding us the best room that was available early. Such friendly and accommodating service!
- 1/5
kind staff, but one person running entire hotel does not make sense.
- 4/5
I got to breakfast close at 9:30 one day and was advised that the only option was the buffet. Very little food left on buffet and what was left was old however still charged full price. Later told by waiter that we could have ordered from the menu. You need to make that option known as far as the breakfast menu.
- 5/5
The best staff ever. Made reservation for one night, at check in while showing my ID, I sais it’s my birthday, immediately they started doing their magic and I got complimentary champagne glasses for my and husband, even my daughter got a Shirley Temple. I didn’t know that my husband previously called to deliver flowers to out room, Sandy handled everything. She is a sweetheart. My 40ths were great and I’m fan of the Asheville crew.
- 4/5
Nice hotel in a good downtown location. Pool and hot tub were fantastic. Parking was $22 per night and not included in my rate, which would have been nice to know.
- 5/5
We have been staying here for years and I've got to be honest, it was the first time that the front desk people were great! Friendly from beginning until the end, thank you!
- 4/5
You can tell its an older hotel, but the room was still nice and comfortable.
- 4/5
Check in was efficient and pleasant. Lobby was nice. Room was very disappointing. Overcrowded with unnecessary furniture, it was quite claustrophobic. Bathroom was tiny and practically had to straddle toilet to turn on shower. Molding around shower moldy and in need of repair. Parking $22 a day. No specific area for dog to do business but big plus dog allowed.
- 5/5
Numerous local food options in walking distance.
- 5/5
This hotel is in a great location downtown. The staff were nice and the room was clean!
- 5/5
Good staff, everything was great!

Very nice hotel and location

It was just fine! We enjoyed it.
