The front desk agent charged additional 20$ for the room stating additional 10$ per person even though the room was already booked as or for 4 persons.

The room smelled like smoke even though there were no smoking signs everywhere. There were burn marks on the heater unit. The bathroom had no mirror, there was no mirror anywhere in the room. We didn't need a wheelchair accessible room, but they gave us one, on the 2nd floor, with no elevator? Would not recommend!

I had problems with my room I requested a king size single bed and wasn't given one even though the hotel wasn't that full. Had problems with the shower, the pictures on their booking page aren't at all what the rooms look like, half the hotel was under construction which wouldve been nice to know. The staff in general weren't that helpful. I honestly wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody

I went into room 102 that they gave me and there was 2 baby roaches in the room. I dont live with roaches in my home,so I dont expect them to be at a hotel that I reserved.

The staff was not informed that the rooms were already occupied took three tries to get a clean room the pillows were horrible

They are in the process of remodeling which is what caused a messy parking area and sidewalks. The however was a newly renovated one and was very nice. If you need a one night wick stop this motel will work fine.

During remodel there are things that are not complete yet but the room was 99% done!! Very very very nice!!!! The mattresses are top notch and BRAND NEW in the second floor. Owners care a lot about their customers experience. No breakfast; no pool but it’s a cheap clean place to sleep.

I like this hotel but this time during my stay I was not happy! Very disappointed so really there was nothing I liked paid too much to have stayed in a room like that! I paid $200 for 2 nights in the superior king room and wow I was highly disappointed! My comforter on bed had stains all over it. The bathroom was awful there was mold on the ceiling and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in forever. Stuff on the walls of bathroom. Light fixtures not working. The bed was very bad not comfortable at all. I have stayed a lot at this red roof and the last few times just has not been good. If I pay $200 for 2 nights in one of their best rooms then it should be that nothing less especially to that extreme mold is not good shouldn't be renting that room till you can get it fixed. I specifically booked this hotel because it advertised the room as smoke-free. Unfortunately, the moment I opened the door, I was hit with a strong and horrible cigarette smell. It was very obvious that the room had been smoked in, despite being listed as non-smoking. The odor was so strong that I could not stay, so I left the room right away. Hotels should ensure that rooms advertised as non-smoking truly meet that standard. I’m still expecting my full refund.

A lot of people were hanging about the hotel. The office closed at 7pm. Every night someone knocked on our room door. One night it was twice. Our room key would not stay keyed to the room, so we had to make it back to the hotel to rekey the card before the office closed. Every single day of our four day stay.

We have always stayed at this hotel on our yearly trip to Gatlinburg. We like the location being right off I40 and being close to the Cracker Barrel. We rented 3 rooms for our family. It felt very unsafe. There were many unsavory characters lingering about. There were sketchy dealings in the parking lot and we couldn’t get away from smelling weed.

Staff where pleasant. Room was not clean. Comforter had stains all over it as well as the towels. Soap dispenser, shower, and refrigerator were all broken. Woke up to water all over the floor from refrigerator. Witnessed what looked to be like a drug deal right outside room. Homeless people where there dumpster diving. Had to walk around a lady passed out on the steps to get to room. Wife did not feel safe. Overall it was one of the worst hotels I have ever been too.

There were vagrants and transients loitering in the stairwells, outside in the parking lot and near the elevator, and trash overflowing in the exterior trash cans. The room was drafty due to space under the door. There was a leak in the sink and a bucket underneath to catch the water. The mattress on the bed was sunken and I felt the springs. The smoke detector was missing, the toilet seat in the bathroom was loose, and the tv remote didn’t work. It was a miserable stay with very little sleep and I didn’t feel safe. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.

The room was ceiling is falling, mold in bathroom wall toilet not flushing and burned linen smell old and at check in they assigned me a room that had all furniture upside down because it was being treated for bed bugs

It was disguising. I did not get a chance to take a photo as i left pretty much as soon as i entered the room. My mistake. There were yellow stains on the pillow and blood stains on the sheets. My room number was 111

Our toilets wouldnt flush in our room, so they did have the decency to change our rooms. When we arrived, signs said no smoking permitted in hotel, but you could smell weed immediately upon getting out of car, our room was dirty: jewelry from a previous stay on floor, dirt on floor, stains on the walls in the bathroom, used the restroom & the toilet wouldn't flush. One of the beds had hair in it. They did change our room, but the next room was no better. The drawer was falling off, the comforter had stains on it, again the floors were dirty. when we were leaving the following morning I'm pretty sure we saw a drug deal going down.

This was an awful experience the front desk person would disappear for extended periods of time leaving no one to tend to you when you need it. The room and motel were very nice but it was a Sunday night and the trash outside has not been emptied and smelled horrible. I asked about this and they were very sorry but this happened from time to time because it was not picked up but once a week The smell was all the staff and room were very nice!

Absolutely nothing!! Drug addicts in every hallway, every stairwell, front parking lot, back parking lot, in the picnic area, all day and night. A few of them with their dogs, no tags, no leashes, just running around the parking lot. I literally had to get on the ground on top of mine to protect from one, not once but twice! Our TV didn’t work. My daughter stepped on glass in our room while going to the restroom in the middle of night so we’re up at 3:30 in the morning trying to remove it all. The list goes on and on.

Easy access from I-40. Staff and housekeeping were polite and the room we stayed in was clean. We stayed 3 nights. Transients have an encampment just off the property. They are relatively respectful but are active into the early morning. They are generally respectful, but can be unnerving to wives and younger children. Conditions can change over time.

Front desk staff was very kind and helpful. The room however had trash under the bed, dirty towels in the bathroom and live roaches in the bathroom as well. There were what I am guessing are drug users were outside in and out of rooms asking my partner and and for things and a ride. Neither of us could understand what they were saying. We did not feel safe so we left.

Front desk staff was very kind and helpful. The room however had trash under the bed, dirty towels in the bathroom and live roaches in the bathroom as well. From the elevator to the rooms showed a lot of wear and tear and uncleanliness. Paint was chipped and falling of the door frames and door, there were stains on the bed and stains on the floor. My youngest was scared to death to stay there. One bright spot the front desk was fantastic and tried to be as accommodating as possible. Lady there at night and the Manager in the morning both helped me out the best they could and refunded what they could. All that said best not to stay here if you can help it. Oh I forgot I went to take a shower in the morning and bugs crawled across the tub, That was it for me!

I chose this hotel because I was trying to save money and it had better pricing. The room was OK and not outright dirty, but they walkway and stairs to the room were filthy. The bed was comfortable and the staff was nice. There were no amenities. We didn’t even have a coffee pot in our room.

Hotel room smelled like it had been smoked in and just covered up. Not the nicest areas and glad they had cameras on the parking lot. It was right next to the highway and plenty of options for food close by.

My room smelled like a dead animal. The remote to the tv didn't work. There were holes in the walls. The toilet and the bathtub are in need of replacing.

This place is absolutely horrible. Inside of the rooms are clean. However, druggies and homeless people everywhere on the property alone with the worker whom checked us in our first night. This place really needs management and law enforcement on the property.

The furnishings were very outdated and in poor condition. The room smelled like urine and smoke. The employees were all great and trying to do their best with poor conditions. We paid too much for such poor accommodations.

We only stay at Red Roof Inn. This one at Asheville builtmore west is our favorite. For the price you sure can't beat it. Clean, friendly and convenient. Thanks Red Roof.

There was only 1 elevator and it was outside. They had a "febreeze" scent with dog poop and pee smell. It was so strong it would take your breath. You could see where dogs had peed in the elevator. The door latch was not secure so we had to sleep with the chair in front of the door. This is one place we will not stay at again, just did not feel safe.

Bed was nice, tub was great with handicap rail in a spot to really use. Room clean. Everything worked. We have pets they were comfortable. We will try Red Roof again. Conveniently located.

All around a good one night stay for coming back home from South Carolina. Didn’t feel comfortable vaping in the back where the “interesting” group of people were, but we managed. My fiancé was not thrilled at all

The smoke free hotel was not smoke free. Everywhere I turned there were cigarette butts on the ground, sidewalks, and the elevator. The sidewalks were heavily stained. The room ceiling was flaking and peeling. The bed cover had a cigarette burn. The sink barely drained for hours. The tub had hair in and on it. The bathroom ceiling had water stains and mold growing over the shower head. The shower curtain was covered in mold. Never go to this place if you want sleep in a clean hotel.

I would have liked an afternoon cup of coffee but none available in the lobby. I had the small pot in the room but I dont use them. Went to dunkin donuts and got a cup of coffee.

Was a good stay was booked into a room with no heat but was promptly moved to one with heat. Overall was a great stay. Needed extra towels got them. Id stay here again.

Not so good location, lots of homeless people, people just staying their cars with dogs in the parking lot. Bed was so uncomfortable. We left 2 days early after driving 16 hours to go there. Won’t be back

Toilet didn’t flush properly and when reported did not fix

Motel is nice, clean, convenient, staff is nice, the stragglers in the parking lot, possibly homeless (not sure) are scary, need outside security or law enforcement doing timely checks as to make paying guests feel safer and feel like they’re vehicles want be vandalized.

This red roof Inn is not as updated as several others that I have stayed in. While there were some updates, there needs to be even more updates. The rooms were clean, but definitely could’ve been cleaner. There are no refrigerators, coffee, pots or microwaves in the rooms. The exterior of the building also leaves to be desired. The concrete walkways are in desperate need of pressure washing and are pretty disgusting looking. Also, I’m pretty sure they do weekly or long-term rentals, which sometimes does not lead to desired clientele.

sheets were dirty,(Top sheet either had bad staind or something that looked like a poo track )light at door out which made it feel unsafe and difficult to see room number and use card entry .

This is a good, no frills and very clean hotel that was close to a medical facility

The room was clean but one of the mattresses' was horrible, I could feel the springs...also there was no coffee pot in the room which was disappointing.

Just stayed a night with 2 girlfriends. Beds are small, but room was clean and had what we needed. Wish it had a microwave is all. Great location, only about 15 minutes from downtown.

property is old, we found insects and spider on the wall. Next to bed and bathroom, needs remodeling and cleaning, smell of smoke from previous gas in the room, not value for money at any price.

Staff was very nice and helpful and room was clean except for the bathtub. The area felt unsafe though as lots of shady characters were hanging around. It looked like they were waiting on drug deals.

Perfectly fine for 1 night stay at a good price. Could have sworn the ad said price included breakfast, but, this hotel claims they have never offered breakfast, and in fact had no are for it. You do get free coffee or tea though, but plan accordingly if you want breakfast on a tight schedule.

OK Stay .Loud Noise woke us up at 1:00AM last night of stay from unhinged AC near us. Kept up for 1/2 Hr

Door would not open. Maintenance came to look. No door handle on inside of door. Moved to another room and while the door worked, you had to life up to get it open. Deadlock was not functioning properly. Hotel was dirty. Top to bottom.

I believe that there was a rat in the ceiling chewing on something at night. By the 2nd day my room stared to smell like a rat nest. I stayed at the hotel for 5 days, but no one came and freshened the room for me, so I had the same two towels the whole stay, which was fine because I usually use a towel for 2 days and then get a clean one on day 3. The over all cleanest of the room was ok and I guess I really didn’t need the room cleaned but clean towels would have been nice after the 3 day.

It is in walking distance to gas stations, grocery store, restaurants and fast food, plus it's close to the 40 and 26 highways.

Customer service was the only good part of the experience. Check in and out was friendly, quick and easy. However, the room smelled funky, the comforter had stains and I found hair in the bed. The room was dated and overall felt dirty. I would like to rate higher because the lady at the desk was so sweet but the room itself made for an unsavory experience.

When I checked in, the front desk lady who is on duty yesterday was awful and not friendly. She saw me struggling with a 1 year old in my other hand while she was soo impatience to make me sign the paper. Then, she didn’t give me direction to where my room was and just said it’s in 3rd floor, couldn’t find the elevator so I went back and asked to point me where my room is and pointed me to use the stairs to my room. I think she was very inconsiderate and no customer service because with my 1 yr old and when luggages, she didn’t care whether how I get there. Never again and this place is stinky and nasty

As for being remodeled, it looked like it was done by amateurs.The updates were already outdated. The carpeting was the cheapest.
