Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Asheville Tunnel Road

This place was nice. Lots of amenities. Breakfast was included and tasted good. The issue was the area. It is across from a homeless shelter (an old hotel they turned into a homeless place) with people doing drugs, aggressive towards others and it didn’t feel safe. Wales to dinner and regretted it once we realized the neighborhood we were in. Would not stay in that area again. It said it was close to downtown but not the downtown Asheville you think of. More of a run down downtown with crime and drugs.

I think this has been the best Fairfield we have stayed at. The room was super clean and the hotel was clean as well. The pool area was super cute with a hot tub! The gym was well equipped. The staff was welcoming. The breakfast was delicious 😋. Overall great place to stay!

The hotel was very clean and up to date. The staff was also very kind. Checking in was a nightmare when it shouldn’t have been. When I made our reservations a month before our trip, I paid with my credit card and had already been billed for it by booking.com. Fairfield Inn showed no record of my payment. My husband ended up paying again with his card and we paid over $100 for our stay. We got things resolved when we returned home from our trip. We were very disappointed with that aspect, especially after driving for eleven hours we just wanted to get checked in and settle in. I would not use a third party for reservations again. In the end we paid more than we should have for our hotel.

The hotel and room were fine. When we first checked in, the wasn't anyone at the desk. Finally a girl came out and was very matter of fact. She didn't welcome us or very friendly at all. We could hardly hear her, as her voice was very low. Certainly not like other Fairfield’s we’ve stayed at.

Very well maintained. I thought it was a new property but it actually 6 or 7 years old. Check-in staff was exceptional. Although there was a power outage we were furnished flashlights and ice from the kitchen. Valerio was very very helpful.

I feel bad giving the hotel three stars because there’s not much they can do about the reasoning. The hotel was super solid. We had a great stay with no issues regarding the hotel itself. However, we did not feel very safe in the area the hotel is located. There is a large number of homeless individuals who will come up to you in the hotel parking lot asking for things and yelling profanities. There was even a few times a man would be going through the trash right in front of the hotel entrance clearly under the influence. The area surrounding the hotel is equally as bad. I would most likely not book again despite the solid experience inside the hotel.

It was only for one night as we were passing through. They had a jacuzzi which was nice but the pool was small. For what we needed, it fit perfectly.

If you’re traveling with family you might feel slightly unsafe. Lots of homeless people and drug addicts and dealers around. The hotel was good. But certainly don’t think it’s in the right location.

Accommodations were very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even had a "visitor" at breakfast when a small black bear came down behind the hotel to rummage for something tasty it found in the rocks behind us. Nice to watch from INSIDE the hotel! Staff said the bear visits often.

Excellent breakfast & super clean rooms. That are cleaned every day. Soft sheets & great shower. The black out shades were helpful & the window opens a little bit, but makes a difference with fresh air!

Every aspect of the hotel was excellent, as if it were brand-new and one of your model hotels¡ Nothing - it was all good.

Very clean, friendly and helpful staff. TV was giving a “no signal” error. Staff could not fix it by rebooting the system. Person came to the room and found that a cable was connected to the wrong TV input.

There were signs that it had gluten free options for people dietary restrictions. I asked a staff member who promptly replied "No we don't have anything like that". So, the only option for breakfast was a banana or plain greek yogurt. It was disheartening when I booked the hotel for the perk of the breakfast and had gluten free options at Marriot chains before.

Our room was very clean and neat and that was very much appreciated. The hotel in general was very clean and looked recently updated. My child loved the swimming pool and hot tub. The tile is a little slick and that could be dangerous. A teenage girl slipped and fell while we were in there, but otherwise the facility was great and a big part of why we stayed there. We exercised in the workout room and that was nice. The hot breakfast was great and another reason why we chose that hotel. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and if we visit Asheville again, we will definitely stay there again. Our overall experience was wonderful and we don't have any real complaints at all. Our pillows were pretty flat and we would have liked to have had a little more supportive pillows. We weren't given the Wi-Fi code, so we weren't able to use the hotel Wi-Fi which was a little aggravating, not a huge deal though.

Breakfast is decent and fresh which makes it easy for feeding our young children quickly and easily while traveling. We have stayed here several times on different trips and have made it habit to return here after a few different hotels in the area. The staff is lovely and they manage to keep the room clean after my 2 year old manages to spill crumbs everywhere. It is very clean safe and quiet. My kids love the little pool and hot tub. The fitness room is adequate enough for decent workouts and usually have it to yourself completely!

It was much cleaner than expected (hotels in my opinion are juat dirty in general), but very clean amd didn't feel like I had to take extra precautions for cleanliness. My kids loved the pool and it wad not crowded. The front desk was super nice and breakfast included made my stay easier. Th pool area could have used a little more cleaning. Overall was pretty clean though. Juat somw hair in the pool and somw type of brown film in the hottub.

My recent stay at this hotel was great. The staff was friendly, checking in was quick and easy. The room was clean, comfortable and looked well maintained. The breakfast included has good. I would stay there again.

The cleanliness of the room was great. I will admit that no matter where I stay I always wipe down the room, clean the bathroom, and spray Lysol. My husband and son are severe asthmatics so that’s why I do extra so they don’t get sick. The pool had way too much chlorine.

No issues, but nothing stood out in particular. Parking was easy, breakfast decent. We only stayed one night, but would stay again when passing through the area.

Our room seemed fine when we checked in, when we came back from dinner with leftovers we found out the fridge was broken. Ok so not a big deal right things happen. Reported it the next morning and at check out maintenance had yet to come. The first night when we went to go to bed there were spots on the bed that looked like blood, so we slept on top of the comforter because it was so late we didn’t think housekeeping was there. I went to the front desk the next morning and asked for housekeeping to come change the sheets and report the fridge. Housekeeping came quickly but like I said maintenance never came. The one thing I looked for when choosing a hotel was an indoor pool, when we checked in the front desk said that it had just been treated and we could still go swimming but she suggested we wait a little bit, ok no big deal right? The pool was closed the whole time we were there it was cloudy still when we left however they were allowing people to use it even though the sign on the door said it was closed. The hot tub was still open but many people were using the hot tub because the pool was technically closed . The “newly remodeled” sign stood proudly however the curtains had holes all through them. There was a free breakfast but I’ve had way better breakfasts in other hotels. I don’t foresee ever going back to a Fairfield hotel again! Thankfully it didn’t ruin our late valentines getaway it just made us explore Ashville more than planned.

The room was not very clean. There was hair in the shower, on the bathroom floor, even in the bedding. I thought overall the cleanliness of the room was not the normal standard for Marriott.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I found the room to be clean and spacious. The walk in shower was nice. Shampoo, body wash, and conditioner were provided in dispensers in the shower. I also enjoyed the hot tub.

The room was tidy but exceptionally cold. The heating unit was far from adequate and the hotel offered three blankets and that only provided a minimal remedy.

If cleanliness is your top priority, this place might work for you. But if comfort matters most, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Said manager never came to talk to us. I understand it wasn’t their fault, but the manager could have at least said something to us! We waited 2 hours for the police to come! The room was nice enough, i.e. everything seemed clean. The facility is one of several hotels along Tunnel Road, which is rather busy, and our room faced the road, so at times it was far from quiet. There's a small indoor pool and larger than average Fitness room. We didn't use those, but they also looked clean. The breakfast was not great, although this Fairfield leaves coffee out after breakfast hours, which we appreciated. The location, while busy, is very convenient, as there are very good restaurants close, and there's even a mall with stores that have merchandise and enough customers to remain open. (Not so where I live!) If I were to visit again, I would consider this hotel, although the folks staying there seemed to be more business than tourist folk, and we went to Asheville as tourists.

The room was nice enough, i.e. everything seemed clean. The facility is one of several hotels along Tunnel Road, which is rather busy, and our room faced the road, so at times it was far from quiet. There's a small indoor pool and larger than average Fitness room. We didn't use those, but they also looked clean. The breakfast was not great, although this Fairfield leaves coffee out after breakfast hours, which we appreciated. The location, while busy, is very convenient, as there are very good restaurants close, and there's even a mall with stores that have merchandise and enough customers to remain open. (Not so where I live!) If I were to visit again, I would consider this hotel, although the folks staying there seemed to be more business than tourist folk, and we went to Asheville as tourists.

Great stay at a great price. An easy drive to downtown or the Biltmore area. The hotel is clean, facilities are good and the service was great. The area itself isn't really walkable or glamorous and the multiple signs warning of automotive break-ins don't give a lot of confidence.

So, this property was in good condition and keep very clean breakfast area was nice parking lot well lit, that being said there is a homeless shelter nearby and you get a lot of homeless walking by acting erratic we didn't have any problem, but you worry about anything you leave in your car. I wouldn't stay on tunnel Rd. again but the hotel it self was nice.

Everything was perfect except one thing The pillows are very soft. Those of us with acid reflux need to elevate our heads. Three pillows didn’t do the trick. Lovely visit except for this.

Rooms clean.. beds comfortable but not as firm as some hotels do if this is an issue just for your info..Hooks in bathroom that hotels are always lacking..good flow in rooms and space and modern decor..carpet in stairs which i rarely see and helps deaden sound from outside! Decent location if you have transportation.. William at front desk is excellent and friendly overall staff although i didnt see too many people. Lacking plant based options on breakfast..typical oats..bread..they did have oat milk though.would recomnend at least potatoes or fresh fruit(strawberries/blueberries.etc) Had apples and oranges but no bananas..

Even though the hotel appeared to be a little older on the outside, the inside was nicely updated! We enjoyed every part of our stay and even got to have fun in the pool. Housekeeping did a great job too. Breakfasts were tasty and complete from healthy to the not healthy..all yummy. Desk staff were so friendly and helpful too! Thank you for a delightful stay!

The only problem that we had with this trip was that it's right next door to the Econo Lodge and the guy at the desk checking us in was very careful to put us in the quietest room away from the elevators on the top floor and he ended up putting us at the very end of the hall in room 601 which put us right beside the parking lot of the Econo Lodge so we had to hear the people coming in and out of there late hours of the night with their music blaring and they would not just get out of their car and go in they would sit in the parking lot with their music blaring. Other than that it's an excellent Hotel. Just don't choose room 601...lol... he was honestly trying to make us comfortable and to make an effort to put us in a quiet room

Took a little more time than usual. Only one person checking guests at 6 pm on Saturday. Evidently she was new because she had to keep calling the manager to come show how to do something to check me in. It took him at least 15 minutes before he showed up. They rest of the stay was good.

I did not even stay. I started to check in and something happened. I have no idea what but the next thing I knew the police showed up and the front clerk left with them. She did look at me and asked if I was sure I wanted to stay there and continue to check in. She then walked away from me. By the time the third cop showed up, I decided to leave and had to ask him to give me my cards on the3 counter so I could go.

Great service, good condition. The only downfalls to this place is location as it’s difficult to get in and out of parking lot and some surrounding noise, and the pool is very small to the point that you cannot swim.

Charlotte was very rude! I had a temporary license but multiple ID’s RN license, S.S etc. She texted and called her manager who did not respond. I was upset said we could use my husband picture ID and she did not seem to be able to handle the situation to the point she was not divining us a room which was already paid for and call the police! I asked what I said that was so offensive and she said nothing but your tone. Finally the manager called back and approved my husbands ID. This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed as far as being welcome!

Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It comes off as a much higher end hotel from the inside. Nice attentive staff, good amenities. The only quibble I could make is I would have like biscuits and gravy on my second morning for breakfast.

Would not stay here again. Staff acknowledges no one whether walking in or out or asking for help. The whole area outside hotel is filled with homeless people even to point that hotel locks from door at night. AC in rooms is awful, smells and doesn’t cool. Breakfast is awful, ready made eggs and terrible tasting food. I asked for toothbrush and they said they were out of them. Gum towels are like sandpaper and rooms are mediocre at best.

Check in was easy. Two attendants at the front desk were helpful and got us checked in quickly.

The staff was incredibly welcoming and extremely helpful. Our room smelled beautiful and extremely clean. The breakfast was fabulous and j definitely ate til i was way too full. Loved the blackout curtains and how quiet it was at night. Extremely comfortable bed with an amazing shower.
