Angola Motel

Weekend before Memorial day boiler still on and the room was 85 degrees had to open the door windows turn on the air it did not cool down until the next night. Cockroaches, they do not change the sheets inbetween guest, only thing the guy cleaning the room came out with are the towels, but i guess pretending to wash them works. Do not even ask about the bathroom, you are banging your knees to sit down and i think the shower was last used by the swamp thing. Do not take off your shoes anywhere.

No breakfast was included. What was advertised was a coffee setup which wasn’t provided. We had to attend a funeral in Angola so the location was good. Probably wouldn’t recommend because the bathroom was atleast 50 years old. The manager/owner was very helpful. The bathroom was horrible.It wasn’t a pleasant occasion we were in & out quickly.

I visited that area often on the past to visit my mother, it was generally a safe and quiet area. It didn’t seem safe, the bathroom window had a partially unfrosted pane that was unlocked, with just vacant land it seemed in back of the motel. The bathroom was not useable to me, I didn’t want to touch anything, so I returned the key to the drop off box and went to a different hotel.

The owners were pleasant. The room was filthy, covered in dust, and had an unpleasant odor. The shower had trash in it and looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom's floor, mirror, and toilet looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time.

They need to upgrade the room, especially bathroom!

Five years ago this hotel would have charged $45 per night. It was still the least expensive in the area. Accommodations were mediocre as the shower water temperature was unstable and there was no comforter on the bed. I guess in this day and age that’s what you get for $80 a night

Easy access, staff was helpful to find a great place for dinner. Room was questionable, had some kind of scent in the room that was very strong. Appeared to be used to cover something up. Very little toilet paper available and shower was scary, did not use.

Manager was nice. Room was old and dirty. Sheets and bedspread stained with burn marks. Roachs. Very obvious that other tenants were drug users and other another selling drugs. Sad, cute place. Could really be so much more..

The beds were comfortable and the price was good. It’s very run down needs a complete overhaul and cleaning.

Great motel for the price - it's an older motel, basic amenities, off a major road. But clean and has what you need. Very friendly and accommodating.

We stayed because we were passing through. The room wasnt very clean. Stains on pillowcases and sheets. Floor in the kitchen area hadnt been mopped.

Would only use again as last resort. Lacked a lot of anemeties as most hotels - my list (and explanations) would be too long to post in an abbreviated format.

This place was surprising in that the location was wonderful and frankly for the cost ot was a lot better than I had expected.

Needs a bigger shower and space to put your hygiene stuff while in the shower and more pillows

The motel was better than expected. It was affordable, clean and very conveniently located to good food and beach side bars. They had parking available for boats and trailers. Overall it was a great little place to stay.

Price Blood on sheets. No adequate air conditioning,no cable,they had ppl changing car parts from car to car in parking lot and one of the fellas was brandishing a pistol while he was speaking some jibberish. We just left the facility and didn't even ask for our money back

Staff was rude. Hotel was dirty and musty. They have a no refunds policy, even though I just left right away after seeing the room. No integrity. Beware.

The outer screen door would not latch. The bathroom door could not shut all the way, there was a wide visible crack when closed. The pillow cases had obvious black stains, whether mold or something else, they were not being changed. The sheets were the same. Glad we brought blankets from home, had to put our just-worn shirts over the pillows for the night and slept on the comforter instead of the sheets. Very dirty and uncomfortable. The people (family?) that ran it made me uneasy during check-in (physically handicapped small woman). Was so not worth the $84 after tax. RUN FROM THIS PLACE! And he needed a lot of info I thought strange, copied my whole drivers license, wanted my phone # and other stuff. Really bad vibes. Slept with the door physically blocked. And a weird device on ceiling, a little distance from the smoke detector. Couldn't figure out what it was, but suspicion of camera. We had a sock covering it all night. Dirty sock. Enjoy that view.

The staff was very kind but I cannot recommend. It's a shame because this place has potential.

When I got the room I couldn't stay in it for more than a few minutes, it was very dirty and disgusting

There were roaches in the room. TV was weird had to do some manipulation to get channels very out dated tech, and no access to ice or even the front office, room was okay shower hot cold water the handles made it hard to know which was cold or hot and then the water temp was difficult to adjust, most needed up grades that we have ever experienced in our 15 years of traveling, but for the price of everything else around was ok.

The Motel was run down,old,not very clean. Too expensive for what the accomodation was.

Cons: residue on toilet seat, storm door wouldn’t close, refrigerator didn’t work.

Toilet and bathroom were not cleaned. Bedsheets were torn.

Roach motel. More bugs inside than out.

The presence of a refrigerator/freezer offset the lack of an ice machine.

Bathroom door had no doorknob! Room was gross. Cigarette burns on comforter. No coffee maker. Trash on floor. Completely overpriced. The worst stay of our lives. Wish we had slept in our car instead. Beware of this motel.

This motel only had us staying there. Cockroches, wholes in the one bedspread they give you. Change me 69.00 to stay. Way off the beaten path middle of nothing.

Check in was fine. First room they had no key so they moved us to the room next door. The first room we went into stunk so I was happy with the other room that smelled better. Everything was old but not in bad shape besides the beat up lamp shades. The room was mostly clean besides the microwave. Had food splattered all over the top and sides. Gross. Bed was comfortable enough. We got an extra blanket and that was helpful. There is no coffee or coffee pot so that was a bummer.

Place was disgusting. Better off sleeping in my car. Didn't use the towels because they were not clean.

Very poor the place was dirty and if you stand out side the room with the curtains drawn you can see inside who wants to be seen when walking for the shower to the bed? Just very dirty.

Place was built in 1950 and not much renovations/upkeep was done since then. Not sure the bed sheets were actually changed from last guests. Had to kick the door in to open it.

So, while it may be a wonderful place to stay, it cost us a day's rent, for nothing.

The room stunk a little and there wasn't much yo do. So i went to the beach and did some shopping.

Also, my room was not vacuumed very well upon arrival. One last thing, harsh cancelation policy: I was expected to cancel by 6 pm the day before despite making the reservation at 10 pm. 24 hours would have been nice, but I would have settled for 12. Besides that, everything else about my stay was pleasant.

I don’t want to complain as I was not expecting much, but at least you should have a working shower! It is okay if you just want a bed to crush, not more.

I’ll start with the positive. The bath towels were very soft. There wasn’t any bugs. So now the negative. The room itself is very small, the bathroom was dimly lit, single shower stall all tiled and tile from fifties, cigarette burns in the linoleum, very dingy looking. The entire room hasn’t been updated since the place was built probably in the fifties. Bedspread had burn holes and room reeked of stale cigarette smoke and it was supposed to be non smoking, door had a sticker on it! Carpet was old and also had burn marks. The drapes were old and thin, let the light through. Th air conditioner was in what we thought was a window but we were able to see through the crack that was in side piece that it was in a supply closet on other side of wall. Furniture old and outdated. The only things new in that room was artwork on wall, sink in bathroom and probably the toilet, oh and the TV. One of windows were cracked, door was hard to get open. The mattress was awful, pillows were beyond flat, no fitted sheets. This is the type of place where they rent rooms by the month as there were mailboxes out front. Now I know I didn’t pay much for room but seriously, they could try a lot harder to make it nicer for short term guests. I heard from friends in area that Henri’s Motel down the road is a lot better.

It was dirty ,paper under bed , toilet paper on register in bathroom, window was unlocked ,We didn't feel safe I put a chair under the door and didn't sleep at all smells like stale dirt

To pricey for me, smell, dirty linens, gross beds. Just don't go there. I was scratching , all the time due to bedbugs.

I knew that it wasn't going to be fantastic, but the location is where I needed it to be. My extended family had 4 rooms. There was confusion with a couple. 2 of us booked on Expedia. They don't have computers so things can get a little confusing. My room was supposedly booked to someone else but o did end up getting it. I even called a few days before and talked to the owner and he said i was good. Luckily the gentleman working that day was able to get me the room. When we showed up around 1130 that night to sleep the owner asked how we got the key and who gave it to us. It's an actual key, not a key card by the way. I already paid. He was asking all sorts of questions and said he would call me when he got back to the office. Very strange. Luckily he didn't call. The sheets were stained. Hair everywhere. Everything being old is one thing, and I didn't mind. It's an old motel, but having dirty sheets is not okay.

Noisy, dirty carpets, terrible shower. No air conditioning, dis-sheveled and unfriendly host. I always give slack, but will not stay here again.

Staff was very kind, but the room wasn't ready when I arrived. Many rooms seemed to have permanent residents and seemed to have a nice little community, but there was clear, loud talking right outside my window rather late. The fridge also made a loud buzz sound most of my stay, but it did turn off at random sometimes. Also was no trash can in my room at all? Strange stay, but functional.

My stay was fine. I wasn’t there much but to sleep. The motel is a bit tired, needs some updating

This motel was absolutely disgusting! The bed sheets and other linens had cigarette burns in them. The bathroom was so gross that I wouldn’t even shower. I should have just slept in my car.

IT's the only motel in Angola and the railroads are but a few minutes' drive to Angola station. Food market nearby, microwave worked but the controls and plugs took some getting used to. Shower lukt bttr. I stayed here in 2018 and didn't dare use the shower (room 5 then; room 4 2021) then. Wash basin and toilet worked well. AirCond perfect.

Lower your standards and suck it up. This place at that bad. Best of all, I like the location.

Very dirty and bed and sheets were old, dirty and itchy. A/C was so loud when it turned on it would vibrate violently and wake you up. Got no sleep.

Given the price my expectations were low but it was much worse. Hair on on the bathroom floor (I’m bald so you can’t blame me.) Stains on the sheets. And while not the properties fault loud and inconsiderate guests. One has his horn alarm going off at 4AM. I would rather have a surgical procedure with a rusty screwdriver than ever return to this place.
