Reviews
The hotel received mixed reviews with guests appreciating the cleanliness, comfort, and convenient location, particularly near UB. However, there were several complaints about malfunctioning appliances, lack of daily cleaning, and unfriendly staff.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Convenient location near UB
- Malfunctioning appliances such as coffee maker, ice maker, TV remote, and tub faucet
- Lack of daily cleaning and fresh towels

However, when Hotels.com followed up with the hotel, I was told they were unable to obtain confirmation of the incident. I even provided the name of the staff member I spoke with, Mel, but the issue still could not be verified. I prefer not to share the details of the incident publicly, as I do not want this review to have an unnecessarily negative impact on the hotel. That said, I was disappointed by how the situation was handled. My main concern is that the follow-up and support I was promised never materialized.
- 1/5
No proud of how tge suite we paid for the hotel never had a king suite , very misleading , tge hotel saw our issue and made the best accommodation they could
- 3/5
late check in and early check out; staff support was minimal; no ice bucket; no complimentary water offered at late night with young children on a raining day; and no ice bucket ...
- 3/5
The hotel was OK as a place to sleep. There were some issues with the bathroom. When I checked in, the towel rack had fallen out of the wall and was on the floor. I alerted the front desk but they did nothing about it. In addition, the plug in the sink was stuck in the closed position. And on my first day, the coffee machine in the lobby was broken. Other than that, the hotel was clean and the wifi worked well.
- 3/5
It cpuld.be cleaner. Looked like floor wasn't slept. Carpet felt gross.
- 5/5
Good location, quiet but not too far from where we wanted to be. Staff were so polite and helpful. Rooms were fantastic, clean, small kitchen was great and stocked with good quality toiletries. Good gym downstairs to use plus laundry place to wash and dry clothing. Would highly recommend. Nothing, lovely stay and all good.
- 4.5/5
I stayed here for the kitchenette as there weren't many restaurants near by that were open late. Having laundry facilities for guests is a great idea. Room photos online are very accurate. Could have used more parking in the front. SMH at the kitchenette set up, which I found mildly inconvenient; not enough for a bad review. There were only 1 or 2 plates / forks. There was a dishwasher but only 1 pod. There was soap to handwash dishes, but no sponge. There were 2 pots and 2 lids but the sizes didn't match. No skilllet. Most people must just use the microwave.

Professional staff. Big rooms.
- 5/5
Great staff, clean room
- 5/5
Location is very close to UB. GMgr was excellent. Rooms very spacious. Complimentary coffee/tea in lobby. Kitchenette in room. No breakfast.
- 4/5
Convenient location, loved the Anne I ties in the room. Comfortable bed. Pillows too soft. Ants present along flooring between laminate and carpet transition.
- 5/5
I really enjoy the facilities and independence.
- 5/5
The manager Breanna and associate Nathan is Top shelf professionals. The service and kindness alone is better than many 5 star hotels I have stayed.. Raj.
- 2/5
The property is not as expected and also not well maintained.
- 3/5
Had to wait for the person to check us in at desk. When we got to room, shower had large blob of black hair in drain. Dishes were in the dishwasher and were still dirty. We had to wash all by hand. We needed garbage bag for garbage can and girl at front desk told us they did not have any. Coffee that was available was very good. When we wanted to check out no one was at front desk. I called out and waited about 15 minutes but had to leave. I left our cards and room assignment envelope on the desk. This place needs a little more TLC and staff that actually is at the desk when needed.
- 2/5
Our room had a big dark something on the bathroom floor, and dirty toilet. My husband took care of both.
- 0.5/5
The location was good for our needs. It had free laundry services. The hotel was extremely dirty. The staff was unhelpful. The cleaning of the rooms non-existent.

Clean room. Wish they had a breakfast
- 4/5
Overall, great property. Our toilet got plugged on the last day and when I called for a plunger, i was told 10-15 minutes as she was the only one at the desk. I waited 15 then, since I was on a time crunch, I walked down to see if I could just take it myself and was given attitude and told it would be another 10-15 until the maintenance came in. I waited in my room another 10 and just went downstairs and used the lobby restroom. When I got back up, she was waiting by the elevator with the maintenance guy and handed me the plunger. I took care of the problem in less than 5 minutes and ended up almost being late to the graveside service because of it. Other than the woman working Monday morning, the rest of the staff were pleasant or at least neutral, the facilities were nice, and I had a good stay.
- 3/5
When I first arrived the room was not very clean. The next day they came and cleaned it again. It was better. What I didn’t notice the first few days was that there was a dark liquid spilled on the air conditioning unit and all over the sheer curtains. A huge mess to miss!!! I spent 7 nights there. None of the staff said, “Good morning.” Most of the time staff wasn't even behind the desk. I thought my sheets should have been changed once. I understand not being wasteful but seven nights w/o new towels or sheets is a bit over the top. I’ve stayed at this property before because the prices are good. Now I’ll know better. Spend a little more each day and get better accommodations!

Nice dinette and clean.

The room was nice, the lady at the front was not. Customer service was absolutely terrible, it felt like we were inconveniencing her doing her job when we needed something and during check out while she was on the phone with a friend. Walked away before we could even finish our check out - we did not get our $50 room fee back, did not get to add to our points, and did not feel welcome during our stay, in which I was having surgery and back and forth to the doctor everyday. Would NOT recommend this location to anyone traveling in the area. The room was nice, the lady at the front was not. Bathroom smelled like smoke and unfortunately there was not another room but they did offer to refund. Also, they were out of coffee beans but overall not a bad stay. Our son's room was fine.
- 5/5
Yes it was
- 5/5
The room was amazing - spacious and clean and very accommodating
- 5/5
Clean room. Additional kitchen items you. Ould check out to use. Free guest laundry facilities
- 2/5
We were there 6 days, never changed towels. Had to track down. Heating system, flashed a blue light all night long. TV stations were terrible selections.
- 3/5
Check in late at night and front desk was less than courteous. Returned to the room 2nd night and the ceiling was leaking from the floor above. Part of the ceiling fell and continued to drip. A different front desk person was on duty and super helpful, immediately changed our room and called maintenance for repair the next day.No frills hotel, no breakfast included but lots of nearby options for meals. Just outside main entrance to UBuffalo North Campus.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was pleasant
- 5/5
My stay was too short, wish it was longer. There is nothing to complain about.
- 2/5
We especially like the kitchenette... It comes in very handy! However, the service we received upon check in this last time was disappointing. The girl at the front desk clearly didn't want to be there. We will likely stay again, with the hope that she isn't working during our stay.

Very noisy
- 1/5
Smoke detectors were covered with plastic bags. No extra bedding/blankets for pullout. Stains/dirty bedspread. Uncomfortable beds. Charged by booking.com and Candlewood suites for the stay.
- 4/5
The location is great , close to where I was visiting . There wasn't any tissues in the room and little toilet paper . There was food on the counter.
- 4/5
Facility was well maintained. Staff during checkout in the morning was extremely rude. Spoke with a curt & surly tone, never even making eye contact when being politely spoken to.
- 4/5
The hotel was pet friendly… but didn’t really have a designated area for pets to do their business. There were piles of dog poop all over the grass in front of the hotel. Most pet friendly hotels have a designated area with poop bags and treats, this hotel did not.

Very bad experience
- 5/5
Good size room, very clean. Courteous staff Full size refrigerator , dishwasher, coffee pot - cutlery, and a good location.
- 2/5
I need to go down to the front desk and get a clean one to change myself. Otherwise, everything is not bad.
- 2/5
Also having a conversation with your staff i was told they never clean properly the staff brings her own sheets towels and lysol wioes when she stays in hotels that says alot. I want a refund i will go further on social media about this.
- 5/5
WE LOVE THIS HOTEL! The staff is always amazing and always so willing to help when needed. The rooms are always clean, and no bad smell anywhere in the hotel. The rooms come with just about anything you would need but the front desk has a borrow locker if needed. Good safe area, lots to do around. Seriously can't say enough good things about this hotel!!
- 0.5/5
Management stated there is no housekeeping unless we had a stay of more than 7 days Management
- 3/5
Apparently cleaning a room for the first time 13 days into a 16 day stay is ok with the manager. I thought that was a little strange.
- 5/5
Close to UB Couldn’t get in the side door
- 4.5/5
Location was good - really close to University at Buffalo campus. Rooms were really good and spacious, with a small kitchenette, which was helpful! The utensils in the kitchenette were dirty - could not use any of it.
- 5/5
Convenient location for my stay. Best pricing in area for the accommodations. I like having a mini kitchen. Used the fitness room elliptical everyday.

Nice suite-style hotel located right off the highway. Well-equipped apartments and friendly staff. While we only stayed for one night, we both felt like it would have been ideal for a longer stay. Would certainly return here. A few more healthier options in the hotel grab-and-go store would be good.
- 4/5
They don't serve Breakfast but you can pay for it accross the way at Comfort inn. Wish they had a pool
- 4/5
Good spot I’ll be back is solid

Horrible experience
- 4/5
No comment
- 4/5
The smell of cleaner was overwhelming and rough on someone that is allergic
- 4.5/5
Wasn't vacuumed very well, found bottle cap on floor by bed, and bathroom not swept well
- 2/5
Room had used towels hanging on back of bathroom door when we first checked in. Also had to ask for more towels since there were not enough. Out of hand soap…hand to ask twice before it got refilled. Lastly, had to leave the window open for a bad smell in the room
- 5/5
staff was exceptionally friendly. the check in person gave her name in case we needed anything. i am so sorry i can’t remember her name . she was so kind. i loved the mini kitchen and the nice heavy wooden doors inside . really nice place- pet friendly. would stay again
- 4/5
It was a suite with a kitchen.
- 2/5
Our hallway reeked of pot. This was supposed to be a non-smoking floor.
- 2/5
There were handprints on the headboard, people’s stuff in the drawers, like burnt hair on the bathroom floor, and there was something on the pillows
- 1/5
All the vessels were dirty and the floor and carpet were not clean and sticky. Also both were very old and the AC smelled.
- 4/5
Booked an accessable room. Consisted of one handle bar installed outside the tub on the opposite side of where the showerhead is. No other supports. Not the best well thought-out arrangement.
- 4/5
Love the quality and the quietness I felt safe in my room love free washing and drying my clothes I had one incident and think if they had cameras in certain areas would fixed the problem with clothing going missing and I really didn’t know you would have to clean your room yourself because of short staff my dishwasher leaks while on and stink was not working properly but I would stay again for sure
- 5/5
My stay was very pleasant and comfortable
- 5/5
Very nice , quiet and clean place. Very helpful staff
- 5/5
It is very close to university of Buffalo
- 3/5
generally good experience
- 3/5
The room was nice, the staff was very friendly, but.....they only cleaned the room once a week.....I stayed there 12 nights. Had to go down to the front desk to get clean towels. Ran out of toilet paper twice. The place just wasn't managed very well.

- 4/5
Gym and laundry facility within the hotel excellent
- 2/5
No ac in bedroom only common area. Did have a bathroom vent fan to bring in cool air to bedroom but wasn’t efficient enough had to keep door open and rattled terrible. No soap in bathroom. Phones did not work to call desk.
- 2/5
The bed was comfortable but the couch and chair were horrific.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the fact that the property was generally clean with no smell of smoke inside. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The staff, especially Shaniya, were very helpful. Thank you!
- 3/5
It served its purpose. Location was great.
- 5/5
Close to many fun restaurants, Niagara Falls, and Buffalo airport. Perfect hotel for a quick stay.
- 5/5
I have left my laptop there. The hotel authority took care of it & sent it back to me. Thank you team.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly, nice quiet and comfortable stay
- 5/5
Everthing
- 5/5
Very nice staff. Easy to find. Very clean. Updated and modern. Not an old/renovated property.
- 4/5
Great hotel & exceptional service at front desk. Not full service but good if you don’t need that. Just complimentary basic coffee in lobby which is fine (not breakfast) & Kitchenette came in handy, but food scent can linger in room. Great place for the price and close to Univ of Buffalo (North Campus).
- 5/5
We liked that we could have a drink and chat outside of the patio.
- 5/5
The rooms and the property were clean.
- 3/5
The overall hotel was clean, the employee we encountered was nice and helpful. The room was comfortable, except for the heat.
- 3/5
The room was fine. I couldn’t find any remotes for either of the tvs. Didn’t bother asking it was only 1 night. But they took my card for incidentals and I’ve been charged for 2 extra nights. I’ve already called once without resolution. I’ve stayed there before but now I’m not sure I’ll stay again for that reason. It shouldn’t happen in the first place but I also shouldn’t have to call more than once to have erroneous charges reversed.
- 5/5
Stayed here 2 nights so that we could spend a day at Niagara Falls as we traveled east for mountain biking. The kitchenette was well equipped for our needs to cook our own meals.
- 5/5
The front desk manager and staff were friendly, helpful, and answered many questions. The cleaning staff were very helpful too. The bedding and bathroom linens were fresh, clean, and fluffy. The bedroom was very comfortable and spacious. The living area, sofa, recliner, bar stools, and computer swivel chair were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and a generous size, I could accomplish a lot, and my stay was relaxing and productive.
- 4/5
The overall cleanliness was good, and the exterior was well-maintained. I was informed that they were renovating rooms; mine was comfortable, clean, and had a kitchenette. The daily rate was worth the accommodations.
- 5/5
My only regret was using Expedia to book the room. The Hotel was great. I made a mistake while booking and Expedia wouldn't let me fix it. The Hotel was understanding and worked with me.
- 2/5
The room that I reserved Friday to Monday stay was not available due to a guest refusing to leave until Sunday- made no sense. I was accommodated with a rollaway bed which clearly was not the original Queen suite that I paid for in advanced. The rollaway bed limited space greatly.
- 5/5
Truly worth the money

Candlewood Suites is a nice, quiet, and clean place to stay in the Buffalo area, and it is close to UB and the interstate system. The folks there are pleasant and do a good job taking care of the place.
- 1/5
You guys charge $20 for your services as just figured. Candlewood suites charged us after you another $99. So I assume you got so lazy, you can’t even make a deal between yourself and your vendors. Very bad. I will skip you next time.
- 4/5
Decent place to stay. Nothing fancy but rooms are clean and comfortable. We would/probably will stay here again.
- 4/5
Hotel was clean. Beds not very comfortable at all. Fresh ground and brewed coffee was great.

They can do better. Better personal service, better cleaning, better maintenance. Beds were comfortable

Rooms are nice good service. Kitchen is sufficient enough.
- 5/5
I loved everything about it
- 5/5
Excellent hotel all new , shower furniture. Recommend
- 2/5
The room wasn't what i booked i had to rent a roll out bed. The noise that came from the roomabove kept us awake till early in the morning when we had to wake up very early. It wasnt a very good experience at all and to be honest I'd like to be reimbursed for some of my stay
- 5/5
Great location, great price
- 5/5
Nice all in one stay
- 5/5
I stayed there 9 days and love it! It’s very quiet. You cannot hear other clients. It’s very clean and the suites are very nicely decorated.
- 5/5

Room was very nice, but toilet need flapoer repaired.
- 5/5
The staffs were very friendly and nice.
- 5/5
Costa coffee was a nice bonus too.
- 4/5
We liked the separate seating area and kitchenette. Also the free parking. Very friendly staff.
- 4/5
Overall a great stay, I wish there was continent breakfast offered.
- 5/5
The only portion that was disappointing was the check in . They made us stick to the 3pm exact check in , which I have never encountered at a hotel before .
- 4/5
This was incredible nice clean place, the front desk that spoke Spanish and the helper did an AMAZING JOB, getting my autistic daughter feel comfortable.. I strongly recommend this place and we will be back to thank them personally for her kindness.
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
I did not like there was no breakfast provided.
- 3/5
The lobby and room were clean. But there was often no one at the front desk. At night when it was dark out anyone could walk right into the lobby without needing a key card. And while it’s next to a couple other hotels, it’s also next to a motel that has windows boarded up. Not sure if it’s even in business. One night a man was sprawled out in a chair in the lobby asleep. I didn’t feel safe as a solo female.
- 2/5
People hang out in the hallway not clean elevator not working tub leaking
- 1/5
Wasn’t a busy week or weekend and did not have a room ready before 3 pm front desk personnel told me that rooms would not be ready for at least an hour because she had to check each on each one . Went instead to another hotel across the street where with no surprise they had rooms ready
- 4/5
Elevator didn’t work but kind staff and great facility otherwise
- 3/5
Nice spot
- 5/5
I book here frequently so its nice ,very comfortable as usual
- 5/5
Great stay comfy bed an clean room. I will definitely consider stay here again
- 4/5
Candlewood Suites a nice stay for a quick weekend trip to WNY/Buffalo. It is conveniently located near major routes and easily accessible Free coffee 24/7, a convenient snack shop, and GE microwaves in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The one drawback - the wifi was out my entire 4 day stay. I was able find work arounds and it was the weekend so it wasn't critical for me. Weekdays would have been more of a problem. Things happen. Wifi goes down, but this was a long outage.
- 5/5
I am a VERY HIGH status with another TOP 2 HOTEL BRAND and I must admit this place exceeded even some of the other hotels best regular rooms. Because of where I had my appointments today, this hotel was in closer proximity than where I usually stay in buffalo. The Host Nathan was very professional and helpful. I did tell.him I was quite satisfied with this place. So I strongly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
I have stayed here many times and it is affordable, safe, comfortable, clean, and all around a great place to stay.
- 2/5
Front desk person on at 9 pm was not very interested in doing her job. It wasn't busy but she was unwilling to book an additional night, - Told me to get the morning staff to do it. This is the reason I went to a different hotel the next night. Front desk = sales. Not willing to make a sale, what are you doing there? - go work somewhere else....
- 1/5
Ignorant staff, rude, inexperienced, horrible hospitality. Management is miserable and you can tell they hate their job and their lives. It seems their mission is to come to work and make every single person they come into contact with just as miserable and negative. Don't stay here unless you want to be threatened to have the cops called on you then falsely arrested for something that didn't happen but its Amherst, why would the police believe anything the customer says. LOL DONT BOOK HERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
- 5/5
Great visit. Perfect in every way
- 5/5
The front Desk people were incredible nice, they understood my problem with my autistic child, and they were able to accommodate us right away. I am grateful for ever.
- 4/5
Clean and quiet

On Friday January 10th I found my door propped open, the lights and TV on. I was coming in from working for the day at 5PM. My room was 311, closest to the elevator. As soon as I exited the elevator I saw that something was not right. As I approached the door the deadbolt had been engaged across the door threshold preventing door from closing. I opened the door to find the lights and TV on. I immediately went down to the front desk and inquired as to why my door was open. The General Manager stated that workers from Spectrum had been in that day. That’s all wonderful if one, I had been asked first as this is not an emergency and the do not disturb sign was on the door (violation of IHG corporate policy for staff entrance to rooms in exception of an emergency). But two they had made sure the door was closed and locked when done. You can imagine my sense of shock and disbelief and feeling of safety being violated. I then saw the GM walking the hallways ensuring that other doors were locked. No remedy was offered outside of “Do you want to check out”? Did not checkout as it was a Friday evening and the liklihood of me finding accommodations at suitable weekend rate not great. Would not stay there again and will contact IHG corporate about experience when back home from work trip.

There's roaches, spyware, and unexpected fees
- 4/5
Leaking tub never got fixed. Understaffed, couldn't find front desk a lot because they were running around helping others.
- 4/5
Phone in the room wasn't working.
- 4/5
Our TV didn't work though. Didn't stay long enough to get it addressed, but that was a little annoying.
- 5/5
Good value. Clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Good price. The kitchenette was great to have while it was cold and snowing outside. Didn’t use any facilities outside room, so can’t comment on that. Area seemed ok.
- 5/5
Was a bit reluctant about staying here as I had never stayed at a Candlewood hotel. To my surprise it was a very nice place, clean, convenient to airport, shopping, and not far from Highmark Stadium. They even let us check in a bit early, which was very helpful. Will definitely stay again.
